Now! I like to thank each and every one of you for reading and reviewing! I have to admit it was a hard story to write… Thus I part with a laughing and a crying eye today. Yes, it is the last chapter already. I hope I could inspire some of you to also write a Blamchel fic :-) As always my thanks go to Amy-Violet for betaing and giving wise advice that I not always followed… xD
Chapter 12: Make It Work
In February Sam got his acceptance letter to Pratt and they were celebrating that occasion together with Kurt and Elliot. Adam hasn't shown up again and the more time passed the more Rachel got the feeling that Kurt was okay with it. It was saying something that he stayed with Elliot, too.
"I'm just a little bit disappointed that you didn't enter a three-way relationship with the both of them", Rachel said as she and Kurt brought some plates to the kitchen.
"Oh, you wish, Rachel. You wish", Kurt said. He opened the dish washer and put the plates in.
"So, is Elliot the one or…?" Rachel leaned against the stove and watched Kurt work.
"Well, let's see. He's cute, funny, sexy and he loves me. Chances are good, I'd say."
"But do you love him?"
Kurt raised and wiped his hands with a kitchen towel. "Yeah… I think so."
"Oh, that sounds convincing!"
"I'm a little bit careful with stating I'm going to marry him. I thought that with Blaine and then Adam, so now I'd rather wait and see how everything goes. Why don't you rather tell me how your relationship is going? Or should I say relationships?"
"Despite your bad prognosis that was caused by your bitterness we're doing fine, thank you very much", Rachel said. She glanced at her boys who were joking around with Elliot. It wasn't even weird anymore to think that she had two boyfriends. Yes, after Blaine's statement on Christmas Rachel had decided she was okay with a confused boyfriend who got off on men and not on her. Sometimes she had thought she'd rather be alone with Sam but those thoughts had reduced in the last weeks, replaced by the feelings that she'd miss Blaine if he wasn't with them anymore. And, that much she had to admit, she had taken a fancy on watching the boys make out.
They weren't like other people, so what.
"I really wouldn't have thought that", Kurt said. "Alone the fact that you made it longer than one week. I'm impressed." Kurt nodded accordingly to his words and went back to the group.
Rachel smiled about his words. She was proud of them, too. She couldn't really describe it but now that she had gotten used to how things were she knew it could only get better.
"Rachel! We just had the best idea ever!" Sam said when she came back to them. Rachel said down next to him while Blaine sat at his other side and also beamed at Rachel.
"If Kurt is okay with it", Blaine said.
"Okay with what?" Rachel and Kurt asked. Elliot put an arm around his boyfriend, who distrustfully narrowed his eyes.
"Well, do you remember how I used to live here and now I don't anymore?" Blaine asked.
"I remember", Kurt said. "At least you didn't sneak out like Santana whose things we had to park in the basement. I guess by now we could throw them away."
"Not the point!" Sam said. "Can you change apartments with Blaine so he can live with us?"
Kurt pulled a surprised face and his eyes flew to Rachel.
"Because that would be perfect, right, Rach?" Sam grasped her hand and nervously fumbled with it.
Rachel looked at him and Blaine. Was it a good idea? If two of them wanted to be alone the third one would still be there and overhear things. Until now Blaine and Sam had gotten it on in Blaine's apartment and when Sam stayed in the loft it had been Rachel's turn. How would things be if they all lived together?
But both boys looked so expectantly and happy at her she could only smile in return. Well. They would only find out if they tried it.
"Yeah, it would be", Rachel said. She returned the pressure of Sam's hand and looked at Kurt. Now it was all up to him.
"Are you…" Kurt puckered his lips and shook his head. "Nope, I will not question your sanity anymore. It's your choice. I don't care where I live."
"I care where you live", Elliot said. "And I vote for the apartment. When we're here we always have to be as quiet as hell."
"Hell is not quiet", Sam informed him. "It's filled with the screams of tortured souls."
Kurt grinned and nodded. "True, so true. Well, the decision is cast then. Wine, anyone?"
That was how Rachel went through another change of roommates. Only one week later things were set up and she was living with her two boyfriends.
"I've thought about stuff. Look." Sam put a paper on the fridge. Rachel and Blaine were in the kitchen with him because he had called in their first official loft gathering.
"What's that?" Blaine poured orange juice into a glass, took it up and went to the fridge.
"It's a schedule", Sam said.
"A schedule…?" Rachel got a funny suspicion. When Blaine looked at it he snorted and coughed while trying not to spill his juice.
"We don't need a schedule for that, Sam!"
Rachel went to the fridge and took the paper. It read 'Times and Rules of Sex' and showed a list of at what day and hour who was allowed to be together. Sam had even written down alone time for Rachel and Blaine (of course he had) while he declared Friday as their official cuddle day and the Sunday was reserved for 'fun for three'.
"Okay, this is officially the weirdest thing you ever came up with", Rachel said.
"No, no, that title goes to Sam's sock system", Blaine said.
"Hey! It's not my fault socks tend to vanish, okay?" Sam said. "If I keep every pair in a single box it's easier to keep them in check."
Blaine shook his head and drank from his juice.
"Well." Rachel cleared her throat and put the list back on the fridge. "I'm okay with it. So if two of us want to be together should the third one leave the loft? Because I'm not sure if I can listen in to you guys doing it without wanting to join."
"Uuuh, Rachel!" Sam waggled his eyebrows but then he got all serious. "Yes, you should leave then. No spontaneous stuff or else we screw up the whole schedule."
"And I thought I'm the once with the control tic", Blaine mumbled while he went to the sink.
"You okay with it, Blainey-honey?" Sam asked.
"Yeah, sure."
"Then it's official!" Sam hit his flat hand three times against the fridge. Rachel couldn't help but grin about his enthusiasm. She stole a little kiss – luckily he hadn't scheduled those – and then went to her section to get ready for school. After all she still had a career to pursue. Soon she would be famous and then her two boyfriends would come to see her at the opening night. She'd probably tell the press that Sam was her official boyfriend. Poor Blaine would have to be their dirty little secret but Rachel was sure he would be okay with it. Since he was with Sam he seemed very balanced and not on the edge of depression anymore so yes, sure he would survive some adjustments to the judgemental world out there. And wasn't the most important thing that they were equals at home, anyway?
Yes, many adventures were lying ahead of them and Rachel just couldn't wait. Her already exciting life was now even more unusual with her two boyfriends… but that was a story to tell another time.
