A/N: Here's the next chapter. Sorry for the wait, school just went out a few days ago and I had Relay for Life things to do! Plus, there's a few curse words in this, so be warned.
(Percy)
When I realized I wasn't fast enough to pursue Alex, I stopped. Everything was so confusing. First, Alex wasn't afraid of monsters or at least he didn't seem to be. Second, Chiron nearly killed him for being a son of a traitor. Then, Alex has these crazy impulses where he'd face danger without doubt. Now, he was caught in a lie and had apparently done some pretty bad things before that monster attacked that night. To say I was confused was definitely an understatement.
I didn't know whether or not to try to search for him, was it even possible to find him? "So, are we going to try to find him?"
Anger blazed in Thalia's eyes, "Are you crazy, Kelp Brain? It's hard to tell what that lying idiot has done."
"He was good to us, Thalia. Maybe there was something that happened in his past, but can we judge him by that?" Annabeth questioned softly.
"Look if you guys want to find him, then go ahead. I'll leave you behind. The way that kid is..." Thalia began but stopped.
I was confused, but Annabeth managed to understand. "You think he's like Luke."
Thalia's hand clenched into a fist and she continued walking. "We know nothing about him, when he betrays us, don't say I didn't warn you."
"Wait, Thal-" Annabeth was cut off when something appeared in front of Thalia. We were all stunned and unprepared. Before I managed to uncap Riptide, Thalia was already knocked to the ground nearly twenty-five feet away. The enemy swung the sword toward Annabeth, who was still trying to retrieve her dagger. However, instinct told me that she was already too late in drawing her weapon. I dove toward Annabeth and knocked her to the side just before she was beheaded. Instead it dug into my shoulder.
I felt pain and I was confused, I shouldn't feel pain due to my curse of Achilles. The blade left my shoulder and began it's journey toward my head. At the last second, I managed to block with Riptide, but the force of the blow made me fall backward. Before I could get up, something was slammed into my head. Darkness resided at the edge of my mind and I continued to tell myself to stay conscious. However, on the second hit, I was consumed by nothingness.
*A Few Hours Later*
"Percy. Percy, wake up. Percy!" A voice began to break through the barrier of darkness I was in. Then, a small, but painful kick woke me up completely.
Thalia's face came into my view, "It's about time you woke up."
When I started to get up, my shoulder burned and head throbbed painfully. I remembered what happened immediately and looked at my friends, "Are you two hurt?"
"We were just knocked out like you were and brought here, wherever 'here' is." Annabeth replied. "We've already tried to find a way out, but there is none."
I noticed the walls were made of some sort of stone that looked to be pretty ancient and there were no windows, only a single door and I knew it was locked. I sighed and tried to think of what to do, but nothing came to mind. "Who attacked us?"
"Ixtab and Gukumatz." Annabeth replied.
I tried to think back, "I know who Guku-whata is, but who is the other?"
Annabeth stated, "Basically, Ixtab is the goddess of suicide."
"The goddess of suicide?" I repeated, then shook my head. "This just keeps getting even more crazy. Any idea how long we've been here?"
Thalia replied, "A few hours. Not too long." I noticed she seemed extremely annoyed as she sat down against the wall opposite of me.
I leaned toward Annabeth's ear and whispered, "What's wrong with her?"
Annabeth's eyes flickered behind me and I turned to look. I hadn't noticed there was a familiar shape sitting in the floor whenever I looked around the room, but I could see him now. Well, at least we know he's alive, I thought.
Annabeth whispered back, "He hasn't spoken at all. Thalia even kicked him, but he didn't respond at all."
"What's wrong with him?" I questioned.
She shrugged, "It looks like he's in shock or something. Not really sure, but they must have done something to him psychologically."
Only then did I notice he didn't seem to be hurt badly. I walked over to the teen and sat down, "Alex? You okay?" As I expected, he didn't respond. He just sat there, staring at the floor with empty eyes. "Look, we need your help, Alex. We can't get out of here without your help." His eyes remained empty and it looked like my words wasn't even reaching him.
Thalia cursed, rose to her feet, then stormed over. She grabbed Alex by his shirt collar and lifted him off the ground. "I don't know who you are, what you have done, or what happened to you, but you're of no help to us if you sit around looking like your best friend is dead." Her voice held a threatening tone, but I didn't question what she was doing. Thalia slammed him against the wall, "Everybody in this room has experienced more shit than what you can imagine, so get your head straight and pull yourself together, we're not dead yet and I'll be damned if you get us killed." She slammed him against the wall again, "Do you understand?" When he didn't reply, she yelled, "Do you understand?!"
After a few seconds, Alex's hand met Thalia's wrist. "Nobody understands." There was a flicker of light in the teen's eyes. "Now, let me go."
"Not until you tell us what you have been keeping a secret." Thalia growled.
Alex replied, "You won't understand, you won't believe me even if I told you."
"Try me."
He looked at her for a moment, then sighed. "My parents were killed in a plane crash when I was a baby and my uncle raised me. He was assassinated on his way home-"
"Assassinated? Why?" Annabeth asked.
Alex ignored her, "The police told me and my housekeeper, who took over as my unofficial guardian, that my uncle had died in a car crash and was not wearing his seatbelt. I found his car at a junkyard and the exterior was covered with bullet holes. Britain's military intelligence, MI6, became interested in my skills and blackmailed me to work for them as a spy."
He paused for a moment, trying to get everything in order. "I finished the misison my uncle didn't and MI6 has used me ever since. I'm their number one, unexpected agent and they use me simply because of my age. That's why I'm used to danger, that's why I said I'm not like most mortals. People... people have been hurt when I've been on my missions. The bad guys ended up dying, but I didn't hold a gun to their head and pull the trigger. Even with that said, I still feel like I murdered them." He sighed, glad to have the weight of his secret lifted off of his shoulders a bit. "Now you know."
Thalia held him there for a moment, unsure of what to say. Then, she set him back on his feet and stepped back. "I... I owe you an apology for what I said before and how I've been acting."
Alex shook his head, "Don't apologize until all of this is over. What have you guys came up with so far?"
"Nothing really. We can only wait until somebody opens that door and attack them." Annabeth replied.
"That won't work. You definitely don't want to encounter Ixtab and I figure that is who will be at the door and I figure there are more just outside that door that his stronger than she is." Alex stated.
I cut in, "You know what Ixtab's power is?"
He nodded, "She creates a vision that tortures you physically and psychologically. Trust me, you don't want to see the visions, they're too real."
Annabeth questioned, "Is that why you were in shock?"
Alex nodded, "If there is no way out, then I'm assuming we just have to wait and see what they want from us."
I agreed, "It seems to be our only choice." Even though there was nothing we could do to escape without receiving attention, I hated to sit around and wait. However, if we were to find out what was going on, we had to be patient. However, I knew my patience wouldn't hold long; the sensation that something bad was about to happen would overwhelm my patience soon enough.
