aWelcome back to another chapter of this story! I was actually glad to work on this chapter before and after the holidays mainly because I believe we're at the halfway mark for the first season of this story.

Mdhunter thank you so much for that last review, I really appreciate it I hope you had a great Christmas and New Years yourself. Same goes for everyone else that reads this story I hope all of you had a good time during the holidays.

so without further ado let's get this going!

Chapter 12 - Focus

Tsukune's Room Before Class

"So you're okay even after yesterday?" Tsukune Aono asked feeling slightly guiltly about their slight problem from the other day.

The pink haired vampire, Moka Akashiya, nodded in reply "I am, and I'm sorry about what happened. I wasn't in control when I grabbed your arm to pull of my rosary. It was as if the other me took control."

"Well she seemed pretty angry at the time" Tsukune commented as his back quickly remembered the pain from the kick that nearly killed him. If it weren't for Kurama's chakra giving him a healing dafter then he would have perished in the small lake.

"As I said, I'm sorry about what happened" Moka apologized once again "As for about the whole secret, well I forgive you. It wasn't easy to decide but you only wanted to protect yourself since you felt weak. I can look past it but I just want to know of there's more to the fact that you have 'tailed beast' sealed within you. I understand that you are the descendant of someone important but there has to be a reason why all of this is happening now."

"Because of an event that will happen in the near future, I'm unaware of what will happen but it's something big. I'm unable to figure out when but for now I was told to continue with my normal routine" Tsukune said.

"I see..." Moka replied "Whatever it may be, I'll do my best to help you along the way. No matter what happens, we are all in this together now."

The ninja smiled "Thank you, Moka."

The two then decided to take their leave to class after their small discussion. Tsukune was relieved about his vampire friend forgiving him for keeping a secret during his entire stay at Youkai Academy. Hopefully Moka's other self wouldn't be too angry at the fact that he sealed her back before they started another battle. Even his sore back reminded him of the devastating kick he received, he now has better understanding to never anger Inner Moka.

Unknown to them, a figure was outside of the room the entire time eavesdropping on the conversation. The figure grinned and disappeared from its spot, outside of the window.

Time has passed since the battle between Tsukune and Kuyou, so far the peace in Youkai Academy has been rather pleasant. Kuyou himself has been expelled from the school as well as part of the Public Safety Commission, a few of the members chose to remain at the school. The remaining members were unable to run the Public Safety Commission by themselves so they had no choice but to disband and remain as students.

As for the Newspaper Club, they have been resuming their normal routine although ever since they witnessed Kaguya's power, the rest of the group, besides Tsukune, grew weary of the silver haired teen. Even when they were told about Tsukune's training as a ninja, they were never told about Kaguya's origin.

Tsukune continued his training as a ninja on a daily basis, luckily his friends have been unable to follow him to his training area, even Mizore was unable to locate him. During his training, he has tried to control his Nine Tail's chakra but could not control it properly to turn the red chakra cloak into the gold colored chakra. He continued to ask Kurama for information on sage chakra but the tailed beast would simply brush the subject aside.

During Tsukune's daily routine at Youkai Academy, he would usually feel a strange presence following him, almost as if he was being watched. People have followed him around after, his fight with Kuyou, to challenge Tsukune but he felt as though the certain presence is constantly spying on him. Even during his class he would feel a pair of eyes piercing through the back of his head but the feeling would disappear without a trace. He's had a lot of training at Youkai Academy but he now understood that there others that have had more experience as a ninja. The teen would investigate the slight problem but the only clue he found was an orange hair clip during his attempt to pursue the follower, unfortunately his classmates have never worn such an item.

Even during all of these events the human teen is able to maintain an average grade during his classes. Especially during the semester test, Tsukune has been able to pass the test with a high score due to being tutored by Moka as well as a certain math teacher but the teacher's tutoring only lasted for five minutes after the human found out she was a Lamia and tried to directly pour her knowledge into his the help of Kurama he was able to break free and defend himself. During his small battle he tried to replicate the rasengan but failed miserably as he was unable to sustain it for even a second. Thankfully, he was able to defeat the math teacher, Ririko Kagome, by using the Nine Tails chakra to battle in hand to hand combat.

As time went on the Newspaper Club planned a summer trip to the human world. Tsukune felt excitement with being able to return to the human world, although his friends were rather nervous visiting the other side. Hopefully the human teen will give his friends a chance to show them the joys of the human world.

Even now Tsukune laid on top of the branch of a tree awaiting for his friends. The day for the trip has arrived and the teen decided to drift asleep as he waits.

As he fell asleep, he found himself in the usual sewer themed area of his mind.

"Welcome back" A loud familiar voice spoke up from inside a very large cage.

"Strange you never with a greeting like this" Tsukune replied as Kurama himself revealed himself on the other side of the cage.

"Let's just say I have important news to tell you" The fox said.

"Let's hear it."

"First off, congratulations on surviving your first semester as the only human in this school. It's good to see that you've changed from a mediocre boy to an average ninja in matter of months" Kurama saw the smile on the teen's face "As of now, I will not be lending my chakra to you. You will need to learn to not rely on my chakra, you've had enough training to fight on your own. Of course the side effects of using your own chakra are still there."

"I understand, anything else" Tsukune asked.

"I'm sure you've noticed by now, but you're not the only ninja here" Kurama said "Just recently I've noticed multiple chakra signatures but I've been unable to pinpoint their locations. Whoever they are, they're highly skilled ninja if they can hide their chakra so watch yourself out there. You've only been able to escape the one following you whenever you're making your way towards the makeshift training grounds. It seems the genjutsu Sasuke placed will not dispel."

"I've been meaning to ask, what happened to Uchiha Sensei? From the looks of it, he just disappeared without a trace" Tsukune asked.

"He's returned to the afterlife" The fox answered.

"Returned to the afterlife?" The teen became confused at the answer he received.

"Yes, I'd explain right now but one of your friends are nearby" The tailed beast said as he walked back hiding himself in the darkness.

The human awoke on the same tree branch he slept on, although he was covered in green leaves when he awakened from his nap.

"Hey Tsukune" The human teen turned his head to find Yukari looking up at him. He purposely slid off of the tree from a laying down to a perfect landing on his feet "Strange, where did the leaves come from, if all of the trees in this place are dead?"

"Even I don't know the answer myself, they just appear when I use a certain jutsu. Sometimes they appear in my sleep ever since I've learned it" Tsukune replied brushing the leaves off of his clothes. He wore blue jeans, black shoes, a white t shirt, and a blue shirt opened up revealing the t shirt. He also had bandages covering his left hand revealing half of each finger and half of his forearm.

"When will you show us your awesome jutsus again!" The young witch exclaimed hoping to watch more of the ninja's techniques "We never got to see much after your fight with Kuyou."

"My power is not for show, Yukari" The human said.

"I know but I really want to see you fight again! I thought ninjas have been dead for a good. I don't know how you learned your ninjutsu so fast but would it be possible if you can at least show me some of your Jutsu sometime, I want to create and practice spells so I can be a strong as you" Yukari said with determination.

Tsukune couldn't help but smile at the young witch "I didn't get this far by myself but okay, I'll show you during our trip."

"Alright!" An excited Yukari shouted.

"I'll show you one now" Tsukune said facing towards an empty space. He began performing the hand signs of Fireball Jutsu in a blinding speed, even Yukari was unable to follow the signs herself. She felt a surge of power build up within the ninja after he performed the hand signs, it felt different from the energy Youkai produce "Fire Style: Fireball Ju-"

"Energetic, are we" The cat teacher spoke out as she arrived on the scene, although she wasn't expecting a large burst of fire to appear in front of her face.

"Ah! We're really sorry, I just wanted Tsukune to show me some of his monster side" Yukari apologized.

Shizuka Nekonome's head pokes itself out from behind a tree shaking rapidly "Is it over?"

"I'm sorry, Nekonome sensei!" Tsukune called out apologizing repeatedly to his home room teacher. The teacher stepped out rom behind the tree to find a very large charred spot on the ground with a few flames left scattered, it was unbelievable as to how much flames the teen produced.

"I-it's okay, just don't do anything like that without warning" The teacher said slightly shaking. After a few minutes the shaking has halted to a stop and the teacher became her usual chipper attitude.

After a few more minutes, nearly the rest of the Newspaper Club has arrived wearing their usual school outfits, except for Moka who wore a pink summer dress.

Tsukune was the first to notice someone missing "Has anyone seen Gin?"

"Oh! He had too many mistakes on his exam so he will be staying behind for summer school" Shizuka said as a bus approached the group. The human teen recognized the bus as the same bus that dropped him off in the school grounds "Well everyone hop in!"

Nearly everyone stepped into the bus and chose their spots, except for Yukari who stood outside of the bus slightly shaking.

"Yukari, are you alright?" Tsukune asked as he stepped outside feeling concerned for the young witch.

"I-I changed my mind, I don't want to go to the human world anymore" The witch said nervously.

"Have you ever been to the human world" Tsukune asked as to which he received a nod from his friend "I can tell you're nervous but, eventually, you will have to visit the human world."

"I know that but I don't want to go now!" Yukari replied.

"You have nothing to worry about, just stay by my side if anything is making you feel nervous" Tsukune said as he knelt down to Yukari's height.

"B-b-b-but" Yukari stuttered.

Tsukune reached into a pocket on his shirt to pull out his headband with a metal forehead protector and handed it to Yukari, she gasped at the engraving on the headband "How did you get this? I've only seen these in books."

"This was given to me by the person who trained me, I know I should keep this but I can't see myself wearing it in the future anytime soon. I'd like for you to have it, as a reminder to never be afraid by anything" Tsukune said as he held the headband in front of him.

Yukari was hesitant at first but she grabbed headband from the ninja, for some reason Tsukune's smile gave Yukari a feeling of encouragement "Okay, let's go to the human world."

Alright! Not much happenin in this chapter but you all know what's going to happen next chapter so before I get the next chapter, the next one will be all of the Witch's Knoll arc(I think that's what it's called) so it'll be a longer chapter.
