So the story is about halfway through and the next couple chapter are short. Enjoy :)
Quinn floated through the rest of the school day with a blank face. She didn't react to anything, showed no emotion, and didn't say a word. She received numerous stares from people, but she didn't care.
Every class was worse and worse. Every cheerio she came across apologized for Santana's death, and told her stories about how Santana's had acted with them. Different guys who had fucked Santana came up to Quinn and told her that they'd miss her screams in bed, and that she gave good blow and hand jobs. Every time Quinn went to her locker to get a book she'd have to look at all the pictures of her and Santana that she kept inside, and she would cringe.
Today, any action that someone performed would reminded her slightly of Santana. Every corner she turned around she would think of the times when Santana and her had stood there, drank from that water fountain, insulted someone in the glee club, or anyone in the school. The classes she'd had with Santana now had one empty seat next to Quinn. The presence of her classes were empty without her, something was missing and Quinn could feel it in the air. Lunch finally sent Quinn over the edge.
Quinn sat down at a table by herself, she didn't mind the loneliness and ate her lunch. She sat minding her own business when almost the entire glee club sat down with her, she immediately tensed up.
"Hi Quinn," Mercedes said. "How are you?" Quinn looked up.
"Awful." She said with a straight face, then returning her eyes to her meal.
"Ok then…"
"So we're doing this great number in glee club this week, it's going to be great!" Rachel said. "I'm taking the lead female vocals, Finn will sing the lead male vocals of course." Quinn listened to every word they said, talking about their rehearsals, their 'horrible struggles', and their looks. She'd give anything to hear Santana talk about things like this again.
"So Quinn, do you have any song planned for Santana's funeral?" Rachel asked Quinn, she looked up with wide eyes, not expecting the question.
"Ummm…no. I…I don't think I can sing at Sa…her funeral." Quinn couldn't say her name. A tear quickly fell from her eye and she wiped it away before anyone could see it.
"I'm singing." Everyone looked down the table to where Sam was seated. "Yea. I'm going to sing a Sam Smith song. Kind of…applies to my current…part in my life."
"Wow Sam! I think we can all agree we have a reason to be excited for the funeral." Kurt said smiling. Quinn had begun to boil with furry. She saw Rachel lean to Finn and whisper in his ear.
"I'm not excited for this funeral…why should I care about someone who never cared for me." Rachel thought she had whispered, but Quinn heard her.
"Rachel!? Are you kidding me!" Quinn picked up her tray and threw it in front of Rachel on the table. The whole cafeteria silenced and everyone was watching Quinn. "I'm done! I AM DONE WITH YOU PEOPLE!" Quinn turned from the table, took her bag and stormed out.
"Rachel." Kurt said standing and giving Rachel a look. Kurt followed Quinn out of the cafeteria and out of the school. "Quinn wait up!" He called after her. She pushed through the doors and walked into the parking lot. She didn't bother to walk to her car and sat on the curb. Kurt sat beside her, holding her hand.
"Quinn, I know what this is like. To lose someone you love. I lost my mom when I was eight." Kurt said.
"How did she die?" Quinn asked.
"She got sick and couldn't recover."
"Not the same."
"Quinn," Kurt turned to Quinn and she looked him in the eyes, "It doesn't matter how someone dies. If they commit suicide, get sick, get in an accident, they're still dead. They still have family and friends. You lost Santana, I lost my mom. No matter how they died, they're both gone. And one day, you'll have to move on. I did my best to, I still am trying to move on now, and I'll never fully be there, but I'm close. And you'll have to do it one day too. In a place like this, and the person Santana was, you'll have to it faster."
Quinn looked down again, "Kurt you don't get it, it's not that easy. Ever since Santana and I were little, we always dreamed about growing old together, being each others' maid of honors, holding one another's babies for the first time, traveling the world together. It's not that easy to let all that go."
"Quinn I know, my mom told me all the things we'd do together when she was dying. Believe me, I know."
"And the things people say Kurt! It kills me! She wasn't the person they all know her as," Quinn pointed towards the school, "She was kind, gentle, and fragile. Oh so fragile. She could hold things in for so long, then she'd just crack. The older she got the better she became at it. She was seeing a therapist, she'd talk to her therapist about the things she'd hold in, but I don't think she every told her everything. What Finn did to her, that was too much for her to hold in, she had no one to talk to about it, she didn't want to, she wasn't ready, and it sent her far beyond her breaking point." Quinn began to cry, Kurt wrapped her in a tight hug and held her.
"One day, you'll be back with her. For now, she'd watching over you. Think of it like this Quinn, you've gained a guardian angel, a beautiful one. And one day when it's your time, you'll be able to lock hands with your guardian angel once again. Don't forget it Quinn, everything happens for a reason."
