Chapter 12 Nice to meet you
"Erza!"
The redhead turned around by the sound of her name. I ran down the long hallway in her direction. I had kept my promis to Lisanna and I was going to have lunch with her and her friends. Gray, Natsu and Levy were really excited when they heard I would meet some new people. Especially Natsu, he had a goofy smile on his face the whole morning, ensuring me that I would love his friends. Erza had been rather busy lately, though, so I didn't have the chance to tell her about it. Before I could open my mouth, three boys appeared behind her. Erza turned around by the sound of their footsteps.
"If it isn't the student council president, Erza Scarlet," One of them said with a mischievous smile on his face. Student council president? Erza? That's when I saw it. A red jacket hang around her shoulders, instead of the yellow that I wore. Red. The colour of the student council president. I didn't expect this. When we lunched together and in class, Erza had worn just a blouse. It was getting rather chilly now, though, so I guess that's why I didn't know it.
"Is there something you need?" Erza's voice broke my train of thoughts. How could she be so calm? It was Obvious that those boys didn't have good intentions. I thought about stepping in between, but decided against it. I was pretty scared to do so, and I remembered the way she beat up those boys who made her trip a while ago.
"Hmpf. Acting all innocent, huh? You think you're perfect, that you can get away with everything because you're the president. But you're just like anyone else!" Another boy yelled. What were they talking about?
"You beat up our friends for no reason! You should lose your title for doing something like that. It's unfair and against the rules!" Oh now I get it. But wasn't that weeks ago? Erza cleared her throat, obviousily irritated.
"I didn't do anything against the rules. The rules say that no violence is permitted inside the school building, unless you're defending yourself in serious matters or breaking up a fight. They say nothing for outside though. I didn't break the rules and they should have been smarter than that." She huffed in annoyance. (A/N: Yes, folks, It's not like Erza to let someone get away with something like that, but it is very Erza-like to follow the rules very strictly when she's the student council president, ne? :))
"You bitch! Who the hell do you think you are! You beat them to a pulp!"
"They should have been smarter than to mess with me." (A/N: Hell yeah! No one messes with Erza! Or you're gonna regret it!) I was amazed by how calm and collected Erza was. So confident. The boys lunged at her. They tried to punch her, but with one swift movement, Erza knocked them to the ground. Huge bumps began to form on their heads. (A/N: Anime style! :) Sorry, I feel like doing a lot of ANs today) A dark, murderous aura surrounded Erza and I took a step back. The boys in front of her cowered in fear.
"Are you fighting inside the school building?" I could feel her glare from behind her back and I shivered. Erza's wrath is not something you wanna deal with. One of the boys was stupid enough to open his mouth.
"You were fighting too!" His voice was soft and trembling, but his words were brave. Actually more like stupid. Erza's glare intensified and she grabbed his collar.
"I was rightfully defending myself. Now, If you would excuse us. I wouldn't want risking the school rules being broken again." She dropped the poor boy and walked ahead of me in the opposite direction. I made my way to her side.
"So, what did you need me for?" She smiled and I was stunned. She's totally acting like nothing happened! Like she didn't just knock three boys out with one single blow!
"W-well, um," I stuttered and she raised her eyebrows. "Levy, Natsu, Gray and I are going to have lunch with other people today and I was wondering if you wanted to come, too."
"Yeah, sure."We turned around and started walking to the cafeteria. "But why the sudden change? I though you didn't like to hang out with other people."
I blushed. "Well, I made a promise and everyone kept bugging me to meet other people. They're Natsu and Gray's friends."
"Oh, them. Yeah, I know them." I looked at her in disbelieve.
"You know them? How?"
"Well, they get in trouble a lot, so I have met them."
"T-t-t-t-t-t-trouble?" Erza waved her hand reassuringly.
"It's not like that. Just those innocent tricks that Natsu and Gray put on each other." I remembered the time when Natsu span a rope in the classroom door so a bucket filled with water would fall on Gray's head. It was a total failure, though. At least, that's the story Gray told me. He didn't end up wet, but the teacher did...
"They are a bunch of goofballs who smile a lot and play around like children, but they're really close friends and they would do anything for each other," Erza continued. I hadn't expected to think this, but...
They seemed... nice.
Natsu waved at me. His arm stretched out into the space above all the heads, clearly visible, and clearly directed at me. Almost the whole table was filled with students and I swallowed. My nerves came crawling to the surface. Erza nudged my ellbow. She didn't say anything, but I found comfort in her actions. I knew she would stand up for me when something would happen, just as Natsu and Levy. I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Hey, Lucy!" I turned around to the source of the voice and came face to face with Gray. He smiled brightly.
"Are you having lunch with us?" He asked and I nodded. "Finally! It was about time." He winked playfully before walking to the table, gesturing us to follow him. I wobbled when I reached the table, my legs were trembling from the nerves. Natsu petted the seat next to him, which calmed my nerves a bit. I uneasily slid into the plastic seat and started playing with my fingers. I glanced around the table and saw Lisanna smiling at me, with Mirajane next to her. I smiled back, though it was not very convincing. My eyes nervously darted between all the people I didn't know. Natsu surprised me by swinging his arm around my shoulders and I let out a startled yelp. He laughed.
"Quit being so nervous, Luce!" Mira's eyes widened at the nickname before she squealed. (A/N: Yup, guys. Mira in action :)) "They're all nice people. I wouldn't befriend them if they weren't, ne?" He smiled brightly and I felt myself accepting the warm feeling of his arm, my tense muscles becoming lose. I smiled back.
"You're so cute, together!" Mira squealed and I blushed.
"E-ehm. I-it's n-not l-like th-that," I stuttered and everyone laughed.
"Don't worry. She loves match making. Once you've become one of her "projects", there's no escaping her." A girl with long brown hair and purple eyes said. She was really pretty. She took a sip out of her barrel and I gasped.
"I'm Cana." She said. "Nice to meet you."
"Don't mind her. She's a total drunk but she's very nice," Natsu whispered in my ear. I nodded.
"I'm Lucy Heartfilia. Nice to meet you."
Natsu started introducing all the students to me.
"Lisanna,Mirajane and Elfman. They're siblings" I could tell, All three of them had white hair. Lisanna and Mirajane had both blue eyes. The sisters were beautiful.
" This is Laxus" A rather tall guy with blonde hair and a lightning shaped scar on his face. His features were hard, but I saw him stealing glances at Lisanna. And they softened as he did that. "Freed and Gajeel" Freed had long green hair, which was pretty old fashion for a guy now, but it suited him. Just like how pink hair suited Natsu. The Gajeel guy had long and spikey black hair, many piercings and his features were hard and uninterested. To be honest, I was a little afraid of him. "and that's Juvia." The blue-haired girl Juvia sat next to Gray and sent me murderous glares over the table, while clinging onto his arm. Gray shifted uncomfortably. Levy nudged my elbow. "She's hopelessly in love with Gray, but she's really nice." She smiled reassuringly and I glanced at Juvia. She was looking at Gray dreamily, who had a small blush on his cheeks because she was so close to him.
"And you already know, Gray, Natsu, Erza and me." Levy continued, finishing the introduction.
"It's really nice to meet you all."
"Yeah, we'll definitely become great friends!" Mirajane said.
"Becoming friends is manly!" Elfman yelled, startling me a little. But his determined expression made me laugh. I already liked these people, which was strange. I usually had the desire to not have contact with others, but that really changed since I met Levy, Natsu, Gray and Erza. They found me new friends, friends that I could relay on.
"So, you like them?" Levy asked. I nodded, but stole a glance at Gajeel. Levy noticed.
"Don't worry about him, he may looks scary, but he's a big softie on the inside." She blushed while saying that. My eyes widened in realization.
"Levy-chan, you-"
"NO I don't!" She interrupted me quickly, but her cheeks were as red as Erza's hair, proving my point.
"Oh my god! You like him" I said shockedly, but secretely happy. They were complete opposites, but somehow it fit.
"Lu-chan!" Levy's head looked like it was about to explode. I laughed.
"Don't worry, Levy-chan! You have my support!" She mumbled something under her breath, but I couldn't hear it because Natsu grabbed my wrist. I blushed a little. I heard a squeal on the background (A/N: We all know who made that sound :).. haha)
"See, Luce! They're really nice people! You should listen to me more often."
"The things that come out of your mouth are Always stupid, Natsu." Gray said and Natsu jumped at the comment.
"What did you say, stripper?" He growled.
"Flame head!"
"Ice popsicle!"
"Fire breath!"
"Droopy eyes!"
"Squinty eyes!"
"Ice prince-"
"Do I hear fighting?!"
"N-n-n-no, Ma'am!"
Lunch break passed by in the blink of an eye.
You know why?
'Cause I had fun.
Yay! Lucy made friends. But... Bora isn't out of the picture! She's trying to forget what happened, but she can't. Bora isn't done! I know I said that You'd get Lucy's opinion of the Dragneel family this chapter, but it's gonna be next chapter. Sorry! Can you tell me if I forgot someone of the Fairy Tail "clan". Romeo and Wendy aren't going to the school, so am I missing someone besides them? Anyway, hope you liked it and please review!
Love you!
Kaire
