I usually don't start the chapter off with an authors note, but oh well. I'm sorry for the huge break, but with Christmas break and school I can't seem to focus on one thing for too long. Anyway, enjoy the chapter and thank you for all of the awesome reviews! Maybe there won't be such a huge break in between chapters next time.
Beth woke up to the smell of pine filling her nose, and Daryl's strong arm keeping her pressed into his side. At first, Daryl's presence put her at ease until she remembered the goings on of the previous night. Beth's mouth became dry and her stomach churned as she pushed his heavy arm off of her, waking Daryl up in the process, and sprinted to the bathroom.
Beth emptied her contents of her stomach into the toilet only to find Daryl right behind her attempting to hold her hair away from her face. Beth shot him a sideways glance and saw the concerned look on his face. Beth breathed heavily and wiped her mouth before turning to face Daryl, who had released her hair.
"Thanks..y-you don't have to take care of me, Daryl." Beth stuttered, trying not to look into his intense blue eyes. Daryl rolled his eyes and immediately glanced down to her stomach.
"C'mon darlin'. Let's get you back in bed." Daryl mumbled, lightly pushing her out of the bathroom by pressing his hand to the small of her back. Beth made it back to the bedroom, and reluctantly climbed back into bed. Daryl came into the room about a minute later holding a glass of ice water.
"I think we should talk." Daryl said as he handed Beth the dewey glass and sat down on the edge of the bed, facing her. Beth bit her bottom lip and sipped her water.
"Are you sure that you're..um." Daryl said, his eyes darting to her stomach again as his voice trailed off. Beth put a hand on her stomach and nodded.
"Have you told anyone?" Daryl asked, his voice tightening as he thought about breaking the news to Merle. Merle would either be so pissed that he could kill, or he'd be disappointed but still give Daryl shit.
"Rosita and Tara are the only ones that know. I was going to call my sister, Maggie, but then you showed up." Beth said, noticing how Daryl's eyes widened a little when she mentioned her sister. Daryl nodded slowly and rubbed his face with his hand.
"What do we do now?" Beth asked, making Daryl quickly raise his eyes to hers in confusion. Daryl cocked his head to the side and just stared at her.
"What, you think I've done this before or somethin'? How the hell am I supposed to know what to do?" Daryl said, his voice becoming tight and hard. Beth flinched a little and scooted away from him on the bed.
"I think you should leave." Beth said, avoiding his eyes. Daryl huffed as he got up and made his way to the other side of the bed to grab his clothes. He pulled his jeans on and jammed his feet into his boots. Daryl pulled his jacket on and turned around to find Beth standing right behind him.
"I'll call you later." Beth said, as she nodded to the door. Beth followed Daryl to the the living room. As soon as they rounded the corner, a loud knock rang out. Beth reached for the doorknob, but Daryl stepped in front of her. Daryl opened the door to find none other than Jesse Pinkman.
"Pinkman?! What the fuck are you doing here?" Daryl said as he yanked him into the apartment by his shirt. Jesse's eyes widened and his jaw dropped as soon as he saw Daryl. Daryl was the last person he expected to find at Beth's apartment.
"I-uh. Beth?" Jesse stuttered, looking around Daryl to find Beth's petite figure peeking around Daryl's broad frame. Beth put a hand on Daryl's arm, whispered something into his ear and Daryl reluctantly let go of him.
"Jesse? What are you doing here? How do you know where I live?" Beth asked, her cheeks tinging pink as she felt Jesse's eyes fall to her slightly rounding stomach. Jesse looked from her stomach to Daryl, and Daryl gave him a warning look.
"Mrs. Grimes put us on the 'Life' project together. She couldn't reach you by email, so she sent me over with the shit." Jesse said, holding up an envelope. Beth took the envelope and set it down on the counter.
"Now ain't really the best time, Jesse." Beth said, flicking her eyes to Daryl. Jesse nodded and turned to leave before looking at Beth.
"Yo, Beth. Could I have your number or something to reach you?" Jesse asked, causing Daryl to grit his teeth and shift closer to Beth. Beth nodded and grabbed at pen and paper before writing her number down and handing it to him. Jesse smiled and left, shutting the door behind him.
"Call me when you get the chance." Daryl mumbled as he left her apartment, slamming the door behind him.
Beth jumped at the loud crack and almost immediately started to cry. She was lost and didn't know what to do. Before, Daryl was something to look forward to, and now he made her feel uneasy. The unsureness and anxiety radiated off of him, and Beth could sense that he was more scared of the situation than he anticipated. She had never seen him so stressed out before. Beth touched her stomach and and dialed Maggie's number on her phone.
