Yeah, to anyone still reading this old thing, I'm really REALLY sorry I haven't updated. My computer doesn't really work I had to start writing it on paper but I stopped midway since I got writer's block because I thought about how my computer was dead.
A month later my friend offered to update my story for me, but by then school started and I kept saying, "I'm so going to update this, yeah!" that and it Never Happened.
The night's cold desert sand sifted under the group, but they were alright so long as they gathered around Red's Charizard. Marth- having separated from the others to take lead- shivered slightly and remembered how he should be more careful out here, especially with Rarim's tool he would need to use in what everyone hoped would be the final battle. The prince put the journal in his belt near Falchion for safe-keeping.
Pikachu came up to the prince and took its usual place on his shoulder and began its lookout as well. Pikachu wondered if either of the Links would be able to tell the way there.
After all, during its time under the Raveness, the yellow mouse was regrettably cognizant. If Pikachu and Marth would have to fight that woman again, Pikachu could be controlled. Pikachu blanched. Marth felt the mouse shake and took the mouse and held it in his arms close to his chest where he knew it would be warmer. His cape was a shred after all.
As if the prince knew what the mouse was thinking about, Marth looked ahead with determination in his eyes. "Do not falter. We're going to win this battle." Marth had said that statement many times in the past to his men, when the battle looked grim and more allies littered the bloody soil than foes.
He said it not only to reassure Pikachu, but the whole company. He said it most importantly, to reassure himself. I'm going to win this battle with everyone and get home, I won't doubt myself now. Still, there was something nagging at him.
There was also the issue of the missing brawlers: R.O.B, Ice Climbers, Olimar, Snake, Yoshi, Sonic, Jigglypuff and the Villains.
If the Raveness had them under control, the battle would become that much more difficult. Yet, he would know where they were if he wrestled them out of her control.
Marth looked to the infinite desert ahead; there were no recognizable features to even mark if they were lost.
The two red moons did not move at all in the sky. The sky seemed even darker than usual and the stars had disappeared. Then, out of the blue, the older Link moved in front of the party. He seemed to know where he was going out in this featureless desert. Marth saw a haunting flash of pink in his eyes, but made the shaky decision to disregard it because he didn't seem to want to attack him now. It was now clear Reneria was ready for the final battle. The blue-haired prince was ready too and swallowed before whispering to himself, "Do not falter."
Older Link led the group toward a thick forest covered in snow. A chilling gust confronted Marth and took a bite out of his skin. Marth felt like the moment he took a breath, a blizzard had formed inside him. The blue-haired prince shook, but grudgingly convinced himself to go on because he knew he needed to.
Peering up over the trees was a steep mountain of red rock. The very top of it almost disappeared over the ominous yellow clouds forming a golden tinted ring around the mountain. But, what was of most paramount importance was the waning crescent moon shape at the top. It was the portal back to their dimension.
Pikachu looked up from its spot in the prince's arms. The mouse felt slightly daunted as it looked like that the portal to their dimension could disappear at any moment and they would be trapped here forever. But Pikachu wasn't about to give up, and neither was anyone else.
Older Link stopped eerily and turned to face the group. His eyes were blue again and he stood for a bit. Marth was ready to draw his weapon, but the hero just went to join the others at the back of the group. Marth did not take out the divine blade, but he would need to stay sharp in case anything would jump out at them here. Pikachu hopped down as not to hinder him. Pikachu could take care of itself from here.
The prince stepped from the cold sand into the numbing snow into which he was ankle deep. The snow soaked into his boots, but the blue-haired man chose to ignore it. Pikachu padded next to him, shivering but with a brave façade. The prince exhaled shakily and walked through a cloud of white crystals created by his own breath. Marth wasn't quite prepared for this violent cold and neither did anyone else for that matter.
He should have brought a jacket, but he didn't really have time to think about that now.
There were no trees directly in front of him, but ravaged ones at the sides creating a straight snow path. How nice of the Raveness to create a straight path to their doom. Marth refused to let himself be intimidated and focused only on the sound of the snow crunching underneath him and the sound of his own breathing.
Though, the sound of his heart beating a little faster joined the mix of sound he concentrated on. Marth sensed danger somewhere, but could not really figure out where. Marth took a few slow strides forward when he stopped hearing his heart beating.
In fact, for some reason he couldn't hear anything at all. It was as if he suddenly became deaf. He could feel his heart becoming an earthquake as he looked around, fear grabbing at him in this new insecurity.
Marth drew Falchion and clenched his teeth, but didn't hear the semi-comforting sliding of the blade from its sheathe. He looked down at his yellow companion. Pikachu's mouth moved in concern, but no sound exited, only a cloud of white.
Marth whipped around to examine what exactly was happening, but was horrified instead. The smashers were all gone. That must've been what Pikachu was trying to tell him.
The blue-haired man tried to calm himself down and assess the situation. The others were there a second ago, now they weren't. This must be some sort of trap strung up by Reneria. Marth was just a bit panicked, but kept walking toward the mountain in total unforgiving silence with Pikachu. A cloud of white blew fast at him engulfing him and the mouse.
In the brief moment surrounded by the outline of a white cloud, there was a surge of noise. It was a terrifying barrage of panicked screams distinctively belonging to the other smashers contained within the cloud. The sheer force brought the prince to one knee. He put his hand to his ear but there was silence again. Luckily, there was no blood this time though. Pikachu was there and seemed also shaken by that.
This was a psychological attack on his senses no doubt, test of power from Reneria, but he was disturbed either way. Marth and Pikachu reluctantly pulled their hands away from their ears and went forth. It was the only option the two of them had at this point. The others couldn't have been killed so swiftly, or so he liked to hope.
The sun rose from behind the mountain into the sky. It didn't make the two any warmer at all, but it was light enough to see another white cloud come toward them. This time the barrage of sound consisted of broken orchestra laughing. Marth gritted his teeth.
From within the dim dawn ahead, R.O.B emerged into their vision parting a thick cloud of crystals with Yoshi, Ice Climbers, Kirby, Snake and Sonic lined up at his side all with eyes sickeningly pink. Marth and Pikachu caught choppy brief sounds from the mist passing by them. They were as predicted, cries of help and confusion from those in front of him.
Marth took a deep breath to calm himself down, albeit the air felt like it could've froze inside his lungs there and then. He would warm up quickly from fighting soon enough. Pikachu crackled with bright yellow electricity, drawing Marth's eyes to it. The prince held his sword out in front of him and stood back to back with Pikachu so R.O.B, Sonic and the Ice Climbers were in front of him with Snake, Kirby and Yoshi in front of the yellow mouse alternatively.
Yoshi and Snake made their move first at Pikachu. Yoshi hurled an egg at Pikachu which the Pokémon ducked to avoid and skull-bashed the green dinosaur to counter. Yoshi stumbled back a considerable distance and fell into a sit on the snow. Snake seemed to know his adversary would do that and threw a grenade under it. Pikachu saw it last-minute and whipped it back with its tail then rolled to its side to circumvent a kick from Sonic wrought literally in the blink of an eye. Pikachu jumped in front of Sonic and kicked him toward Snake just in time for the grenade to explode in both its adversaries' faces. Snake and Sonic struggled to get up and fight again.
Its celebration was short lived when Marth was thrown into it, something Pikachu could have easily evaded if it had heard the prince flying at it. Pikachu and Marth were knocked straight back into Yoshi and the yellow mouse was momentarily sandwiched in between the prince and dinosaur. Marth dizzily rose and his mouth motioned a "sorry" to Pikachu, but the mouse was grabbed from behind by Yoshi and drawn into its mouth by the dinosaur's long tongue.
The shocked prince moved to help his companion, but the Ice Climbers and Kirby suddenly jumped at him with a fierce velocity, three hammers were ready to cave his skull in. Marth blocked it with Falchion and he saw the wood chip at him from the clash. He was sure the sound would have been enough to break his ear drums if he could hear, but the clash made no sound. And unfortunately, neither did the sound of R.O.B shooting a powerful charged laser from his eyes. The long line of energy seared his arm and burned the flesh agonizingly. Marth kept strong though, as did Pikachu as it struggled to get out of Yoshi's egg. Pikachu focused its energy on clawing its way out of its silent prison while the mouse was ruthlessly thrown back and forth from within its confinement by violent kicks.
Marth leaned forward with all his strength and finally got the upper-hand, but the Ice Climbers and Kirby pulled away. The Ice Climbers used the snow under them to create hard icicle spears which Kirby propelled with a huge gust of breath forward. The blue haired prince dodged left and was missed by two spears which he saw split in half a log behind him. Marth turned swiftly and ran toward Pikachu to help it.
He was blocked by Pikachu's previous adversaries, Yoshi and a recovered Sonic and Snake all with pink gazes focused angrily on him. His Yoshi and Snake the same time and hurled their respective projectiles at him, egg and rocket powered grenade in succession. The blue haired man cut the egg and grenade in succession, but was assaulted by Sonic came at him like a bladed chakram cutting through the smoke.
The prince ducked and Sonic flew over his head, the hedgehog's speed sent him sailing through the air over everyone's heads and into the destroyed wood. Right after Marth observed that, Yoshi attempted attacking with a kick to his enemy's chest. Marth got away because of sheer luck. As soon as the dinosaur hit the ground though, it tried a jumping tail whip which missed. The prince used the opportunity to sharply thrust the dull end of Falchion into Yoshi's stomach finally knocking it out.
Marth still had to be on his toes. Snake was lined up right up behind Yoshi with a quick follow-up whether the dinosaur had succeeded or not. Snake jumped over Yoshi with a flying kick which Marth responded with a punch from his left hand to avoid getting hit. Snake seemed unperturbed as Marth jumped back from a right hook, blocked a hard straight punch weakly because of his seared arm, and hastily kneed Snake in the chin before the soldier could land a left hook at his temple.
Stumbling back, Snake haphazardly kicked into the air, but extended his leg enough to get Marth in his cheek. The prince took a bit of recoil, but as soon as he whipped his head back to see Snake, he took the man's leg by the ankle and threw him left into the wood.
The blue haired prince was aware Snake would get up again soon and rushed to help Pikachu before time that happened. He ran over to the egg and plunged his sword into the shell, creating a hole. Pikachu didn't miss this opportunity to claw its way through the opening finally taking in a breath of fresh air. Pikachu looked up and its companion took the mouse's hand and lifted it out.
However, just then Marth felt a sharp pain in his back. It was a though a flaming arrow had pierced him from behind. He lost hold of Pikachu as he was propelled several feet forward landing face-first into the snow. Pikachu flew through the air and surmised from the other three adversaries' formation that R.O.B and the Ice Climbers had made a laser charged icicle hit by Kirby to nail its friend in the back.
Pikachu let off a Thunder at them shocking them thoroughly with a huge burst of electricity from the air definitely knocking its opponents out. Pikachu landed in the snow, but was confronted by Snake and Sonic who had gotten out of the brush covered in twigs. Pikachu used Quick Attack to match Sonic's fast paced series of punches and kicks. But, matching Sonic blow for blow, the Pokémon did not see the butterfly shaped explosive on its arm. As soon as Snake pressed the button, Pikachu and the hedgehog were blown back in a cloud of black.
Marth staggered up to his feet surprisingly. He felt the impact of his armor cracking throughout his torso like an earthquake. He saw bits of blue metal scattered about on the ground. He felt his person for the journal and sighed in relief as he felt the leather against his tunic.
Only the tip of the icicle was in his back, but it was enough to make him bleed from the wound. The prince pulled it out as quickly as he could to not draw out the pain and turned to find Pikachu. He wiped blood away from the sides of his mouth face, then began to run again into the heat of the fray as he always had his entire life.
Marth was at Pikachu's side again. Pikachu had taken care of R.O.B, Ice Climbers, and Kirby. Pikachu had exchanged the bomb with Sonic after a quick slap to the face, so the blue hedgehog got the brunt of the explosive. All that was left was Snake who looked like a mouse ready to bite the two cats.
Snake got up and kicked at Pikachu, but the yellow mouse jumped up and Skull Bashed him in the forehead and Marth chained with a rather ungraceful head butt, then hit him hard over the head again with his sword.
That was all of them for now, Marth thought. He felt bad for being so harsh on his allies, but if he wasn't serious they would've killed him for sure. Marth tore off a long strip of what was left of his cape and made a makeshift bandage he wrapped tightly around himself to stop the bleeding.
Marth helped his beaten allies get up and urged them to follow him, needing to find the rest of his companions.
Pikachu fell back into a sit on the snow from fatigue. Marth knelt down and picked it up from the ground. The two of them took lead and continued on in the silent forest.
