A/N: I really didn't know what to write about so this chapter is kind of just a few short drabbles. Next chapter I promise I'll do better. Lyrics: go your own way- fleetwood mac. Because it's on my playllist and had just enough verses. And it's kind of about Mer and Alex. But thank you for reading even though the chapter is soooo short. I had no inspiration but wanted to update. Next one might be a while. I mainly write in the weekend.
The next day, Jackson saw Ali for the first time that day in the elevator.
"Hey." He said with a smile.
She just smacked him.
"Ow! What the hell?" He asked her.
"You idiot! What the hell were you thinking?" she said furiously.
"What's going on?"
"Yesterday I gave you the day off, but today. No."
"Okay… I get it. I'm an idiot."
"Yes, you are. And not just an idiot. A big idiot."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
The elevator doors opened and they parted ways.
Loving you
Isn't the right thing to do
How can I ever change things
That I feel
Ali had a case with the other Dr. Grey today. It's not that she didn't like her, but more that she didn't know what to think of her. One moment she was all nice, the next she seemed to not want to talk to her. But whatever. She had Jackson.
They went to rounds. Her intern for the day was Ross, she'd never worked with him before, but from what she'd heard, she didn't need to expect much.
She walked into the room and rounds hadn't started yet.
She walked up to Dr. Grey. "Hey, I thought maybe I could get your advice on a clinical trial I want to start-"
"I already have a clinical trial." Meredith quickly said.
"Oh… okay."
Rounds started and she listened to Meredith talk to the patient, a pregnant woman. Ross was actually taking notes.
The woman seemed scared. "I don't want to do this." She said after. "I don't want anything happening to the baby."
"It's okay to be scared." Ali said. "Surgery is a lot of stress to the body. But we will do everything in our power to make sure you get the best treatment."
"What if something happens to the baby?" She asked.
"You have appendicitis. We won't come anywhere near the uterus."
"Thank you."
If I could
Maybe I'd give you my world
How can I
When you won't take it from me
They walked out of the room and Ali stopped to talk to Meredith.
"I need to ask you something. It's quite personal." Ali said.
"What is it?" Meredith said.
"Well… it's about your mother. Because we have the same last name, and people ask me about it and I just don't know what to say. I want to know where the name comes from. Because every time I try to ask Jackson about it he says that no one here really talks about it. Like it's a taboo. But can you talk about it?"
Meredith looked down. What was she supposed to say to Lexie? "My mom died along with another surgeon, Dr. Sloan, in a plane crash. Us from the board were all in it. Not Avery though."
"I'm very sorry that happened to you." Ali said, and Meredith could tell she genuinely meant it.
"I spread my mom's ashes out here in the drain." Ali chuckled. "This was the place she loved most, so I think it's fitting that it's named after her."
"Well… Thank you." She still wanted to know more about this plane crash because people remained unclear. The more people ignored her questions, the more she wanted to know.
"You're welcome."

Ali met Jackson for lunch in the cafeteria.
"I hate your name." She stated after he had talked about April's hair color for a few minutes. He really had to stop talking about her.
"Why do you hate my name?"
"Jackson's not a first name. It's a last name."
"So?"
"So you shouldn't be named Jackson."
"It's not like I had a choice."
"True." She took a bite from her tuna sandwich. "So about clinical trials…"
"Yeah?"
"Can you just, like, start them?"
"Yes."
"So the only thing I have to do is get a grant and FDA approval?"
"Yeah, that's pretty much it. You'll need another attending to sign off, of course, but after that you're done."
"Good."
"Why?"
"Not telling."
Tell me why
Everything turned around
Packing up,
Shacking up's all you wanna do
Deb rushed over to their table with a lot of chocolate in her hands.
"Ali, you have got to help me!"
"What is it?"
"So yesterday, I went out with this guy, and I really like him. But then I also met his friend who was super cute. And sparks were flying. With both. What do I do? It's harsh to pick the friend because I was on a date with the guy and it's simply too much!"
"Wait… I thought you were all into Jackson?" Ali asked.
Jackson snapped his head at Ali, then looked to Deb and back to Ali again. "What?" He asked.
"Yeah, but you should've seen these guys…"
"I think you should walk away. You don't want to be that girl that splits up 2 best friends."
"You're right… but I don't want to walk away."
"And that's where the chocolate comes in, right?" Ali asked.
"Exactly!"
"Well, keep eating like that and they soon won't be attracted to you. Problem solved."
"You are an evil woman."
"Whatever, I have a surgery to get too. Totally boring, all I have to do is hold a clamp."
If I could
Baby I'd give you my world
Open up
Everything's waiting for you
Meredith and Ali were in the scrub-room and Alex joined them.
"What a surgery." Meredith commented.
"I know, I can't believe we had to deliver the baby 2 months prematurely." Ali said.
"And the baby kept crashing" Alex said.
"So did the mom." Meredith said.
"And her uterus kept bleeding out. I thought I'd never see the end of it."
"Her appy burst. In the middle of surgery." Meredith said with a frown.
"The kid had a heart attack." Alex said.
"How did she survive that?"
"I don't know." Ali smiled a little. "The human body is pretty amazing."
"You guys want to get a drink?" Alex asked. "Celebrate our victory?"
"Sure." Ali agreed."
"I can't." Meredith said. "I have 2 kids."
"Right." Alex said. Meredith left the room, and Alex sighed.
"You okay?" Ali asked.
"Yeah. Sure. It's just that ever since she's had kids, she never really hangs out anymore. Whatever."
"Oh, I totally get it."
"Just promise that when you ever get pregnant, you won't be all lame and never go out."
"Yeah…" Only she couldn't.
"I might have to pass on that drink though." Alex said as the baby went into V-fib again. "Maybe some other time." And Alex rushed into the OR again.
"Sure."

Ali ran into Jackson in the elevator.
"I want popcorn." She randomly said.
"Of course you do." She made him smile a little. She would never change. She'd told him popcorn was the reason people didn't commit suicide.
"Can you get me that?"
"Sure."
"Thank you." She smiled at him.
"So Deb was into me?" He asked.
"Yeah, apparently."
"Well… I don't know what to make of that."
"You don't have to make anything of that."
The doors opened and Pat came in. She looked at the two people and smiled a little.
She went to stand next to Ali, and said. "Tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock tick tock."
The doors opened and Pat walked out again.
"Seriously." Ali said, she hadn't meant to say it out loud but she did.
"What was that all about?" Jackson asked.
"Nothing." She said with a small smile.
She looked at Jackson for a little while. Pat was absolutely wrong. Sure, he was not unattractive on the outside, but there were many things that made him unattractive enough not to date him. There was April – but she was married now. To Matthew.
Oh, right. Stephanie- though she was gone too. Ali suddenly couldn't remember a single thing and Jackson seemed more attractive to her now, which was a bad thing. It wasn't a clock, right? Whatever, it wasn't going to happen anyway.
Was it?
