Chapter 11 – Miracles
Last Chapter
"Who imprinted?" I finally asked, looking at my cousin and Collin. They still looked dazed and confused. I folded my arms across my chest. "Which one of you imprinted on one of Reuben's daughters?" Suddenly Paul started chuckling. "I don't see what's so damn funny about this. We go upstairs for half an hour and come back down to one of you cubs imprinting on one of the doctor's daughters."
"But see, that's where you're wrong. Imprinting on one daughter is messed up, imprinting on both of them is pretty damn funny!" Paul cackled. "Collin here," He draped his arm around Jacob's cousin's shoulder, he jerked away. "Imprinted on the older one, what's her name again? Melanie?"
"Malaika!" Collin snarled.
"Whatever," Paul shrugged, "And Brady imprinted on the younger one, Danielle?"
"Dayo, asshole!" Brady corrected our wayward pack brother as he gritted his teeth.
"That's what I said," Paul smacked Brady on the back. "Imprinting!" He continued laughing. "Gotta fuckin' love it?!"
Leah POV
Randall, Jake, Collin, Brady, and I all sat anxiously at the table while Taisie and Seth watched television in the living room. Jake decided it would be best to go and check on Dr. Seaborne and his family. Lu and Daciana were upstairs, and everyone else took off.
"It's been a whole hour." Collin groaned, laying his head on the table.
"Randall, maybe you should call them." Brady urged.
For a few moments, Randall remained silent with a far off gaze in his eyes. "That won't be necessary." He finally replied. "They should be here in a bit."
"You can feel them?" Brady stared at Randall in awe.
"No, I can hear their thoughts when granted access." He reminded my cousin, and as if on cue, the sound of Dr. Seaborne's car pulled into our driveway.
"I'll get it!" Lu announced, coming downstairs. Brady and Collin immediately stood up.
Soon enough, Jake, Reuben, Aysi, and his daughters walked into the kitchen. Malaika and Dayo both had shy grins on their faces while Reuben's face remained stoic. Aysi appeared resigned and exhausted. I could tell she had been crying, and her face was flushed. Jake however seemed indifferent as he started rummaging through the refrigerator.
"Ahem!" Dr. Seaborne placed his hands on his wife's shoulders who stood in front of him. "Brady and Collin, after having an intense conversation with your Alpha regarding imprinting, my wife Aysi here has something she would like to say to both of you."
Aysi exhaled deeply. "I am sorry." She apologized. "But you must understand, I am very protective of my daughters, and although I know you two are incapable of hurting Dayo and Malaika, it's very hard letting them go, especially while they are still so young. Please understand."
"Mrs. Seaborne," Brady spoke up first. "You had every right to react the way you did." I was totally shocked by how gently my cousin spoke to Dayo and Malaika's mother.
"And we are not asking you to just hand over your daughters right now." Collin added. "We would just like to get to know them."
"If…that's alright with you Malaika?" Collin smiled at his imprint, and she beamed back at him.
"Seth and Taisie invited us to the movies, would you like to go…with us, Dayo?" Brady wagered.
"Mom?" Dayo eyed Aysi cautiously.
"Have them home by midnight." She finally murmured.
"Thank you!" Both girls embraced their mother before joining Brady and Collin.
"Ready to go?" Taisie stood in the doorway. Dayo and Malaika nodded excitedly once they'd kissed their father on the cheek.
"Have fun." He chuckled.
"Just so you know, we share a familial telepathic link in werewolf and human form, I will be tapping in sporadically." Aysi warned my pack brothers.
"We'll be on our best behavior." Collin promised Aysi with a wink. Collin's best behavior? I groaned inwardly.
"That's comforting." Reuben mumbled sarcastically as he watched his daughters depart with their mates along with Seth and Taisie.
"Looks like the wolves ate everything." Jake shut the refrigerator.
"Bella took home a plate for you." Randall revealed.
"That's why I love that woman," My Alpha laughed. "I'll see you guys later." Jake made a hasty exit.
A moment later, Aysi took a seat and looked at me. "Be lucky you're only having one daughter." I simply laughed.
"For now." Reuben stared at Randall suggestively and sat beside his wife. "And who said you and I were done?"
"Are you serious right now?" Aysi eyed her husband with astonishment. "After what happened today?"
"Definitely, but I will give us another decade before we try again." He squeezed his wife's hand, and Aysi playfully rolled her eyes at her husband before turning to look at me again.
"Leah, I'm really sorry about earlier." She apologized once more.
"It's fine, it was a huge shock for us all. I mean damn, if the shoe was on the other foot, and I really didn't know anything about imprinting, I may have reacted the same way."

Time passed quickly after that. Two weeks after the doctor and his family arrived, Angela and Embry became proud parents to their twins, Serenity and Trinity Call. The age old question came into revelation as soon as Sam looked at our pack brother's newborn twins. The twins looked exactly like Sam's oldest daughter when she was first born. Jake, Quil, Seth and I all breathed a huge sigh of relief knowing our fathers had not been unfaithful to our mothers. That day, Sam gained a half-brother in Embry and nieces in Serenity and Trinity. The next five months breezed by within the blink of an eye.
Randall and Connor's veterinarian clinic was bringing in a lot of money, while Taisie's grooming business was excelling as well. She also finally started living exclusively with Seth, which freed up the room to convert it into a nursery. Lu and Daciana volunteered to stay for three more months after the triplets were born to help out, but would be moving into their own condo soon after.
Dayo and Malaika eventually warmed up to the pack and unit with Brady and Collin's help, and Aysi was actually enjoying their carefree personalities. She saw how the imprint truly made her daughters happy, so her 'check ins' were less and less frequent as time went by.
I was now in my last trimester and due any day now. Three weeks ago I had to leave work due some serious Braxton Higgs contractions. Let's just say my three beastly buns were ready to make their debut and Dr. Seaborne didn't want to take any risks.
It was the weekend now and although everyone pretty much had places of their own, my house became the designated hang out spot. Randall and I were never alone. Today was refreshingly different with only the wolf girls, Aysi, Lu, Daciana, and Celina in attendance. The guys were hanging out at Jake's place for some much overdue male bonding.
"Are you and Randall still disagreeing on baby names Leah?" Angela asked while she gently rocked Trinity in her arms, trying to sway her to sleep. Bella was attempting to do the same for Serenity.
"Yes," I groaned as Taisie sniggered.
"Uncle Randall is totally old fashioned and so are the names he's conjuring up to Leah."
"I'm sure they're not that bad." Rachel grinned.
"Like hell they are," Lu interjected. "We're talking about names like Aetius, Cicero, and Duilius." She cringed. "At this rate, my god children are going to need nicknames, because there is no way in hell I'm going to call a kid Hadriana in a public place."
We all started laughing, which made Trinity and Serenity stir slightly.
"I guess you're right Luminita." I teased my best friend, and she promptly shot me the middle finger. Lu knew all about nicknames.
"You haven't thought about giving one of your sons your father's name?" Claire asked me.
"Well, it crossed my mind, but Seth already called dibs on dad's name a while ago." Taisie immediately started blushing as all eyes fell on her.
"Why don't two of you meet halfway?" Dayo proposed. "How about any name after the 1700's?"
"Great, now that opens up the door for names like Wolfgang or Ludwig." Lu rolled her eyes.
"Wolfgang actually fits," Daciana teased.
"Hell no." I shook my head. "I'm down for the whole classical period, but some names are totally forbidden."
"What about your method of delivery?" Bella asked. "Are you really going to deliver all three babies the old fashioned way, I mean, aren't you worried about the risks?"
"Delivering triplets the old fashioned way for human women may be risky, but according to Dr. Seaborne and Randall, it shouldn't be too bad. I have a higher threshold for pain and heal pretty fast. It's still going to hurt like hell still."
"You're not lying about that." Angela murmured, "I never even cursed before until I went into labor." She cringed. "In one night I used every single profane word ever spoken." We all laughed once more.
"I was in there with her and Embry." Bella laughed. "Embry was shocked and amused all at once."
Angela shut her eyes and winced playfully. "He filmed the whole thing."
"Oh my god!" Malaika stood up. "That is a must see!"
"I brought it for Leah to watch so she could get a glimpse of what's to come."
Oh shit!
~XOXOXOXOXOXOXO~
"It was really that bad?" Randall chuckled, laying down beside me later on that evening.
"Babe, it was terrible. Angela is a saint, but during her labor, she sounded like a sailor. I swear I'm traumatized." I shut my eyes for a moment, thinking back to some of the things I heard come out of Embry's sweet wife's mouth. If that's how Angela sounded, what the hell was I going to be like?
"Just remember Angela is human amica mea," He kissed my shoulder. "On another interesting note, you are completely fine with any name after 1730, but famous musical composers are totally off limits?"
"Yes."
"Okay," He sighed happily. "For our sons, what do you think of Ethan and Aiden?" I tilted my head in shock, those names didn't sound old fashioned at all. "Or maybe Hayden and Hunter or Andrew and Anthony?"
"Those names sound great, and pretty modern, too." I grinned. "What's with the sudden dive into the 21st century?"
"Let's just say," Randall kissed my large womb before continuing. "Embry and Jacob opened my eyes to the possibly of an eternity of teasing in regards to my children if I ended up naming them something that was older than…what did they again?" He pondered for a moment. "Oh yeah…dirt." I couldn't help but start sniggering. Gotta love Jake and Embry.
"Fair enough, I like Hayden and Hunter, the fact that their names begin with an H, like my dad, feels right." I told him.
"Hayden and Hunter it is." He agreed.
"Now, as far a girl goes, do we really even need to discuss this one?" Only one girl name really came to mind. Randall's mother deserved to be remembered every single day, and what better way to do that than by naming our daughter after her?
"No we don't." He grinned at me as his eyes grew misty, and he placed his hand on my stomach. "Hayden, Hunter, and Penelope." He then looked up at me. "Thank you Leah, for making this real for me." The words were filled with so much love and devotion.
"You made it real for me too."
"There's something else I wanted to talk to you about. Actually, it's a question."
"Go ahead." I urged Randall.
"Have your feelings changed about marriage or are you still content with our current situation?" He finally asked me, never taking his eyes off of mine.
"Randall, this is the happiest I've ever been, and marrying you would only make me happier, but I'm not in an hurry to race down the aisle tomorrow, especially as big as I am now." We both chuckled.
"Does this mean you would not object to being engaged?" His eyes flickered with mischief. He pulled away momentarily and reached for something on his side of the bed, returning with a small jewelry box.
"Do you know why engagement rings are placed on the finger nearest the little finger on the left hand?" I shook my head no as I continued staring at the box in Randall's hand. "At one time it was believed that this finger," He reached out and touched mine. "Contained a vein that led straight to the heart. It's total nonsense, but quite romantic if you think about it. Throughout my mother and father's long life together, my father gave my mother many rings, but this one was truly her favorite." He slowly opened the box and my eyes filled with tears. "Seth told me how much you love white gold and canary diamonds. I just knew this was meant for you. Will you marry me Leah Clearwater?" I finally started breathing again. "When you're ready?" I was so overcome with emotion, I couldn't even speak, I simply nodded. "That means yes, right?"
"Hell yes!" I finally yelled. Randall happily placed the ring on my finger. Just then Lu and Daciana came barging into our room.
"Congratulations!" They both yelled. Lu actually had a handful of confetti in her hand and she threw it in the air.
"What were you two doing, waiting by the door?" I demanded playfully as Daciana flopped down beside me and examined my engagement ring.
"We sure were. When Randall told us he was going to propose to you tonight, we couldn't help it." Lu smirked. "Oh and Hayden, Hunter, and Penelope are perfect names for our charming beastly buns, let me be the first to welcome you to the 21st century Randall." She winked at him.
"Thank you Lu." He winked back.
"I'm going to the bathroom." I said as I climbed out of the bed, but I nearly fell to my knees when a sudden abysmal pain shot up my spine. Lu was by my side in seconds, and a gush of water trickled down my legs. "I think I'm going into labor."
"Really? What gave you that impression?" Daciana said sarcastically, staring down at the puddle of water surrounding me. With lightning speed, Randall hopped out of the bed and was on the phone with Dr. Seaborne. "I'll go get some towels to clean this up and call Sue and Seth."
Randall hung up the phone. "Dr. Seaborne said he'll be here in an hour."
"An hour?!" Lu and I both exclaimed.
"Quiesce mea, active labor in first time moms can lasts from eight to twelve hours." Randall tried to rationalize with me. "He recommended walking around a bit to help speed up the process."
"Walk? He wants me to walk?" I huffed, Randall nodded. "If I walk anywhere it will be to Reuben's house to shove my size nine up his ass!" I roared as a full blown contraction hit me. "Oh holy Great spirits, this hurts!" I wailed, leaning against Lu. "I'm so gonna punch Bella and Angela in the face, those lying bitches told me contractions felt like cramps, but this feels like cramps on steroids!" I heaved. It also felt like my insides were being pulled and twisted in all sorts of painful ways.
"Why don't you let me help you lay down then?" Randall came towards me, and I growled which made him stop in his tracks.
"Don't you dare touch me." I snarled. "This is all your fault, you and your damn strong royal werewolf swimmers." Instead Lu helped me lay down.
"You act like I did this all by myself." He mumbled. I felt my body tremble slightly at his choice of words.
"Randall!" Daciana shouted from the doorway. "This is not the time to be pissing Qae Lupus off right now." She walked in and started wiping down the floors. "Seth, Taisie, and your mom will be here soon."
"I'll go call Dr. Seaborne again." Randall headed outside. "I love you."
"I love you too, but I still wish you could feel what I'm going through right now." I leaned my head on the pillow. "And you better not come back in here without Dr. Seaborne!"
