Chapter 12

As Merlin led Gwen and Morgana to Arthur's rooms he tried to come up with a way to get the mandrake root out of Uther's rooms without raising suspicion but also make sure that there was no other problems that could arise from this. After a few minutes he decided he would wait for Arthur's input and go from there.

Soon enough they were standing at Arthur's door, Merlin turned to the girls "I need you both to wait out here while I wake the prat up, I will come get you when he is up and ready." He smiled reassuringly at Morgana and went into Arthur's room.

Merlin placed Arthur's breakfast on the table and then walked over to the curtains, as he looked over at his brother he could not help but smile fondly as Arthur was on his stomach drooling on his pillow and one arm hanging of the bed. Shaking his head he opened the curtains and yelled "Rise and shine you lazy daisy."

Arthur groaned and said "Merlin what are you doing."

"Waking you up what else, now come on out of bed." Merlin replied trying not to laugh.

"You do know that is not your job anymore right?" Arthur joked as he threw a pillow at his brother

"It is till Uther formally announces that I am your twin, and I will be choosing your new manservant so you don't get a bootlicker." Merlin said teasingly as he pulled out clothes for Arthur to wear "But you do need to get ready quickly as Morgana and Gwen are waiting outside of your room and Morgana needs to talk to you as she needs our help."

That got Arthur's attention and he quickly got out of bed and as he got dressed as he asked "What's wrong?"

"Before we showed her the truth Morgause had gotten her to place a mandrake root in Uther's bedroom and with all the things that have been revealed that last two days she did not think of it until now. She let me know as soon as she remembered and now she needs our help to stop it."

Arthur face was impassive as he thought everything through but he needed more information to form a decent plan so once he sat down at the table he gave Merlin the ok to let the girls in. Soon enough all four of them were sitting around the table silently. None of them knew where to start until Gwen blurted out the question that had been nagging at her since Merlin had suggested going to Arthur.

"Is Arthur the other sorcerer you know?" Gwen blushed wondering if she had said too much.

Arthur looked shocked then turned to glare at Merlin as Merlin replied to them both "Yes Gwen Arthur is the other sorcerer and Arthur don't look at me like that I made sure she could be trusted before I told her."

Arthur shook his head and smacked Merlin upside the head but was not expected to be knocked out of his chair by a gust of wind that Merlin sent his way with a flash of his eyes. "When we get to training later I will get you back for that." Merlin just raised an eyebrow and the look on his face said, bring it on.

Morgana and Gwen both started laughing at them but Gwen spoke first still not knowing about the Merlin's newfound status "I swear the both of you bicker like brothers."

Merlin, Morgana, and Arthur all looked at each other before Arthur decided he would explain. He told Gwen the same story he had told Merlin then told her how it had taken a while to convince Merlin that he would keep him safe and get him to come back. "After we got back we went to Morgana and got her back from Morgause and now here we are. So yes we bicker like brothers because we are it just took a while for the truth to come out."

Gwen sat there stunned for a while before she burst out laughing and soon enough the other joined in.

After they had all calmed down Arthur brought them back on course "Now Morgana, Merlin told me that you had placed mandrake root under our father's rooms but you did that before we showed you the truth about Morgause. I need to know more information before i can form a plan to stop this."

Morgana was scared but knew this had to be stopped she just hoped that she would not lose her newfound family once this was all said and done. "Morgause told me that the mandrake root dipped the potion she used would make Uther seem crazy it would play on his guilt and fears making him relive them so to speak. I was to place it under his bed so that it would slowly make him crazy. I just remembered about it this morning and I got Merlin right away. From what I understand if we burn the mandrake we can break the enchantment before it takes hold unless she did something I don't know about but I don't think she did."

Arthur sat with his hand curled together under his chin as he thought of a way to do this as Merlin tried to think of the magical ramification that this could have. After a few minutes Merlin spoke "I think that I should be the one to dispose of it that way it cannot be traced back to Morgana but I will need a few minutes to do so and that means we need to get Uther out of the room for a least a few minutes so I can take care of it."

"I can get him to the throne room by telling him I have news about you that he would want to hear. Once he is out of his chambers you go in take care of the mandrake then make your way back here and I will send Gwen to go and get you that way nothing can be pinned on us. We would also be killing two birds with one stone we get rid of the mandrake and get you meeting father as my twin out of the way."

Merlin though over the plan but knew it was the best they were going to get and Arthur was right it would get both out of the way and he would not have to wait for too long and drive himself nuts over it. He nodded his head in agreement as did Morgana and Gwen. They also agreed to do it in as soon as they left the room.

Soon enough Merlin was following Gwen as they made their way to the king's chambers once outside his door Merlin slipped into an Alcove that he could still see but would not be noticed as Gwen told Uther that Arthur wanted to see him in the throne room.

Merlin watched as Uther walked away and Gwen gave him the signal. He waited for a few seconds and then rushed across the hall and into the kings rooms, he searched around the room for the mandrake but noticed that there was a dripping sound coming from under the bed he kneeled down and that is when he saw it. He quickly grabbed the Mandrake and threw it in the fire covering his ears as the mandrake screamed.

Letting out a sigh of relief he quickly made his way back to Arthur's rooms before Gwen got there not knowing that something much harder to stop was on the horizon.
