Okay, I know it's been a long time and I have some explaining to do. I just want everybody to know that no matter how long it takes for me to update, I am not going to ever give up on this story. It's just that I spend basically everyday at college from 9-5, I have a job, add in homework, studying, new inspirations, my grandmother going into the hospital, I don't ahve all that much time to always write for these. That's why this chapter is so short though. I wanted to give you guys something, so here we go. Hope you guys like and I apologize for the wait.

Thanks go to the following for reviewing:
StillDoll13 - I don't think I've ever had a review with that many "knows" in it. But it's true.
storygirl99210- I know, I had been waiting to do that for that chapter from day 1. I'm glad you liked it.
Pygmy Pandazilla - Thank you! I'm glad you like my twisted rule over the universe of Cody's life!
SinistrousDelirious - Mean streak? Master's just an ass.
Nameless - Most of your questions run through Cody's head in this chapter. And soon, I promise. Maybe next chapter...? And of course! Dick is great! (That came out wrong...) He's also one of my favorite heroes of all time. I'm glad someone else likes him too! But you're reviews made my day, thank you for that. Glad you liked it!
DJ Meltdown of Ground Xero - I'm glad you found it interesting!
Lucas - I hope I answered your questions above. I'm sorry for the delay!

Chapter 12
Tigress

Cody had woken up feeling as if she had gotten run over by a bus. She could barely move, but she knew she had to. If she didn't get out of bed, she knew she wouldn't for the rest of the day, and she had far too much to think about and plan to do that. Plus, she was supposed to be working for Kaldur. She couldn't just slack off on her duties. Not with the chance of him telling Master that she had been slacking on her work, resulting in another dose of punishment.

She found herself sitting on the floor of the gallery, where she had Kaldur often met up. She always seemed to end up there when she had to think about things. Things like if she should tell Kaldur and Artemis who she was and what she was really doing, seeing as she now knew their true agenda. But would that be beneficial? Or would it put everything in danger even more? Would it put personal feelings in the way of their work?

Cody sighed, watching a fish swim by. She smiled softly at it. I think mom loved fish, she thought. She would like it in here, I think. She would have loved to go to Atlantis.

"Ember?"

"Good afternoon, sir," Cody greeted Kaldur, who walked in behind her with Artemis.

"How are you feeling?" he asked. "You gave us quite a scare."

"Better now," she informed him. "I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused you, Sir."

Kaldur looked at her oddly, having expected her to have hostile feeling toward him after what he had pulled with Artemis. He was relieved that it wasn't that way, but it made him curious, nonetheless. "No inconvenience," he told her, gently placing a hand on her shoulder. "I am just glad you are better."

"Thank you, Sir," she said.

"I wanted to introduce you to someone," he said. "This is Tigress."

Cody stood up and turned to Artemis, who was wearing a tiger like costume. She bowed to her respectfully. "Ma'am," she said.

"Good to see you up and awake," she said.

"That it is," she sighed, turning to look at another fish.

"Is there something on your mind, Ember?" Kaldur asked her, placing a hand on her arm to see if she was all right.

"I used to love traveling the world with my family when I was younger," Cody admitted. "The world was just so exciting. There were so many new things to learn and discover. Back then, the world seemed so big and interesting.

"Now," Cody said, taking a deep breath before continuing, "now not many things surprise me." Though Kaldur being a double agent and Artemis's death being fake was a surprise. A rather pleasant one, at that. "And it's not all that interesting. Our little planet seems so small compared to how big the universe is."

Who would imagine that Cody would spend five years in captivity regaining the trust of Master and everybody at HQ in order to feed information to her old friends while Kaldur, the man she loved from when she was a hero was working alongside her as a double agent, giving the same people information. And that Artemis would be joining them. Never in a million years did Cody think that something like that would happen. Knowing that information made her feel a whole lot better and not so alone anymore.

She was given some hope. But that small amount of hope wasn't enough to make her feel all that much better about what she was doing. Was she actually making a difference? Were they any closer at putting Master away for life?

"What brought this on?" Kaldur asked.

Cody shook her head absentmindedly. "We're so small, Sir," she said. "Does anything we do change anything? Can we change the overall scheme of things? Does anything I do really matter? Is it worth it?"

"You sound confused," Tigress pointed out. Oh, it was so god to hear Artemis's voice again.

"I've lost myself, I guess," she said. "I've been doing bad things for so long that I'm starting to confuse the boundaries between right and wrong. And in our line of work I guess it doesn't really matter, but it should matter to me as an individual, right? Or am I just a poor excuse for a criminal; a human being?

"I don't know who I am, what I'm doing or why anymore," Cody added.

"You once told me you were the kind of person to help an elderly woman in need of assistance crossing a street, or a young, innocent child to retrieve a kite from a tree," Kaldur said. "Would you still do it? Would you help them without knowing your reasoning behind your actions?"

He remembers that? Cody turned to look at him, not knowing where he was going with this. "Yes," she answered with a nod of her head. "I would."

"Then perhaps you're not as lost as you believe yourself to be," Kaldur said. "If you still know the basics of who you are, then you can find yourself once more."

Cody bit her lip, looking away from her two ranking officials. "Thank you," she said, not completely know what to say to that. He had basically just told her it was okay to be a good person in their line of work. That he was okay with working with someone that was borderline good. She didn't know how to take that. "May I be dismissed, Sir?"

"You are dismissed," Kaldur said.

Cody bowed and made her way over to the door, but before she left, she had just managed to make out the quietest of conversations between Kaldur and Tigress.

"Do you still think she's Cody?" Tigress asked.

"Yes, even more so now than before," Kaldur answered.

"Yeah, me too," she replied.
