Nothing much to say here really... just that Mark's got some unexpected company coming... and there's more to come soon
Chapter 11: Surprise Visit Part 1
Date: 7/4/38
15:04 hours
Subject: Anna Gains
Age: 14
Species: Human
Location: Manhattan Ruins, Former United States
"Damn this piece of shit!" I shouted punching the old radio I was using to talk with both Mark and Dave…I swear to God I felt my fingers crack as they made contact with the metal device. "AH, DAMMIT!" I shouted holding my left hand with my right. "I swear I'm going to kill that little pain in the ass!"
"What's wrong, Anna?" A middle aged man asked walking up to me. The man had a pretty dirty five o'clock shadow, short brown hair and had the build of a football player. Compared to little old me… he was a giant!
"Well, Ben, this crappy ass radio stopped working; while I was talking with Mark and Dave." Ben shook his head. "Don't worry too much about them, Anna. Those two maybe hot headed and rash most of time… but they can handle themselves against a couple of spoiled morphs." The ex-marine grinned.
"But Ben… didn't you see that attack helicopter heading straight for the city? Or the frigate docked off shore?" I asked, remembering the military vehicles sitting and waiting to us way too close for comfort. "What if they're in serious trouble?" I asked in a hysterical voice. "What if the military's already caught them and are digesting them as we speak? Or what if they're mortally wounded and bleeding to death in some cold, dark alley miles away from here? What if they got run over by steamroller? Or had safes dropped on top of their heads?" I continued, basically blurting out every horrible death that popped into my mind.
"What if-" I was interrupted by hysterical laughter followed by a familiar voice shouting "Where do you get these insane ideas from?" Looking up from the Radio I was trying to bring back to life again, I see Dave, Mark, Tricky and some other human girl I've never seen before finally coming back from their run. "DAVE!" I shouted while running up to hug him, pretty much ignoring everyone else.
"……Yeah I'm fine too, thanks for asking." Mark sarcastically remarked, rubbing his neck.
"Uh… Anna?" Dave asked. "What are you doing?" Embarrassed beyond belief I quickly removed my arms from Dave's person and stood a couple of feet away from him. "…Sorry about that… I overacted…" I nervously chuckled, brushing back some of shoulder length, brown hair.
Looking behind them I saw a girl no more than a couple of years younger than me shyly staring at the floor. She looked like a normal human… but what was really weird was the collar around her neck. "Who's the girl?" I curiously asked pointing at the person I've never seen before.
"Her name's Human and I'm not sure if she's entirely housebroken." Dave chuckled while Mark and Tricky just groaned. "…Care to explain?" I asked turning to the infamous duo. "She's another pet human we rescued from the city." Mark answered. "Those morphs just get dumber and dumber by the day… I remember what my old 'master' called me…" Tricky sighed. "He called me 'fire fox.'"
"Alright, Tricky, we all know about your old nickname and how it was unoriginal and just plain lame." Mark commented. "After all, you're always bitching about how hard your life used to be." Tricky was shocked and angry when he heard this. I could tell because when he sighed, he a small flame escaped his muzzle. "What do you mean by 'used to be?!' At least when I was a pet I only had one morph trying to kill me and that was only on the weekends, when he drunk as hell!" The little multi-tailed fox shouted.
"Anna, where's my sister and how is she?" Mark quickly asked me, changing the subject and ignoring the pissed off Vulpix. "Is she well? She didn't get to any trouble did she?" I always find it both odd and funny when I here Mark say something like this… usually he acts like he could take on the whole world, laughs at everything that tries to kill him and can be a bit of an ass at times… when talks about Marcia, however… it's like he's another person… a soft, kind, gentle soul that couldn't even harm a Maigckarp.
"She's fine, Mark." I said looking behind him. The boy didn't know it, but it looks like he's been followed by someone. "In fact she was a perfect little angel… till she messed with my radio." I growled hitting the device once again… my hand in pain once again. "Really? What'd she do?"
I saw the figure behind the boys, the Vulpix and the girl duck to try and hide. "Why don't you ask her yourself? Oh Sonny." I called my partner's name. A little Plusle popped its head up from behind the figure. "Plula?" She responded cocking her head to the side. "Sonny, could you please find Marcia for us?" I smiled a knowing smile.
"Plusle Plula!" The little Pokémon cheerfully responded. She lifted her head into the air and only took two sniffs before jumping on the figure's head. "Plula!" She cheerfully shouted, bouncing on figure's head. "Ah! Sonny stop! I'm hiding from my big brother." A little girl said in a hushed voice to the Pokémon, trying to keep the rodent quiet. The Plusle stopped bouncing and tried to bend over to look at the girl's face, falling off her head in the process, Dave and Tricky started to laugh at my poor, clumsy partner.
Mark just sighed and crossed his arms. "Marcia, I know you're there." Mark said. "You didn't know where she was two seconds ago." I mumbled. "Come on out." Mark's little sister got up and walked over to her older brother, shamefully bowing her head as if she did something wrong.
"Marcia, what did you do to Anna's radio?" Mark asked in a stern, parent-like tone. "It wasn't me big brother, honest it wasn't!" Marcia quickly shouted. "It was Dash." Mark disappointedly shook his head. "Marcia, are you lying to me?" "N-no, big brother, honestly I'm not. Dash and I were playing and he accidently ran into it." Marcia defensibly said, tears forming in her eyes. "Marcia, I will ask again, are you lying to me?" The Mark asked his younger sister, narrowing his, clearly not buying the little girl's story. "Big brother, I am telling the truth. I didn't do it! It was Dash!" Marcia sobbed a bit.
"Damn Taylor, I know you're trying to be good brother and all… but lighten up." Dave suddenly spoke up, obviously a thinking that Mark was being too hard on his sister. "She's just a kid and kids are known to mess up." Tricky nodded before adding. "Just look at Dave. When we first met, the guy threw me into the water thinking I could swim." Dave stared daggers at the fox. "That was six years ago. Just get over already." Dave growled.
Seeing that Dave was actually right for once and that his little sister was on the brink of crying, Mark sighed in defeat. "Marcia, please don't cry." Mark said in a claimer tone. "I just wanted to make sure you were trying to blame your new Pokémon partner for something you did again." Mark explained to his sister, giving her a comforting hug. "I captured Dash for you so that you'd be safe and stay out of trouble. Not get into it and blame everything on the poor little guy." Marcia sniffled and wiped her tears away from her eyes. "Understood?" Marcia slowly nodded. "Understood." She responded.
"Big brother?" Mark's little sister suddenly asked. "Yeah, Marcia?" Mark answered. "I have something I need to tell you." Mark looked at me and Dave and gave a knowing smile. I smiled back knowing that that little devil's about to come clean and admit that she broke my Radio transmitter, not Dash. "What is it, Marcia?" Mark asked. "Can you come closer? I don't want anyone else to hear this."
Mark looked at me and Dave again then leaned close to hear what Marcia had to day. "What is it, Marcia?" The little girl only tapped Mark on his nose. "Tag," She simply said. "You're it!" The girl giggled and ran off.
While the rest of us had a stunned look on out face as if we couldn't believe what had just happened. Mark just chuckled and ran after her. "What just happened?" Dave confusingly asked, scratching his head. "…Taylors… they're nothing but a huge migraine."
Subject: Mark Taylor
15:57 hours
I can't believe I actually lost sight of my little sister already! I can't find her anywhere. I can't believe this is happening…… to me! Of all creatures! ME! Come on! I'm Mark Taylor… Mark freakin' Taylor! How can something like this happen to me?!
I continue searching the ruined city for little sister, who probably thought it'd be fun to hide deep in the Ruins to avoid being tagged… however these parts of the Ruins are very dangerous and are filled with rabid Pokémon, completely insane and cannibalistic humans… and I'd rather not speak of the rest of these… monsters… they're just too horrible to think of… let alone face.
Normally I'd be going around shouting my sister's name and demanding that she showed herself and return home with me… however, knowing my little sister, she probably still thinks we're playing a game, so she's probably going to run away from me when I sound close to her.
So how do I outsmart a seven year old evil genius? Hm… duh! "Oh Marcia…" I called. "I got a new dress for you to put on Tricky." I lied, hoping that her desire to play dress up with Tricky and some old doll dresses I found deep inside the remnants of the old city would get her to come out of her hiding place.
"Really?" Marcia asked poking out her head from behind an old, rusty car. "Gotcha!" I shouted, running to grab her arm. Once I had a grip on her I messed up her hair and tickled her. "Okay, now no tag backs." I quickly said, disappointing the young girl who was two seconds away from tagging me back. "No fair." She scowled.
"Well don't blame me, blame the guy who created this game." I smiled. "Cheater." My sister pouted a little. "Marcia, there's no need to be a sore loser." I reprimanded the girl. "But you didn't win. You cheated and cheaters never win!" She crossed arms clearly angry with me.
"Come on, Marcia." I sighed noticing something move behind her. "Hey, I have an idea. Why don't we play a game of catch?" I suggested picking up a small rock from the ground. "Catch? With what, big brother?" I ignored my sister as I tossed the rock high over her head and watched it fall behind half of an old sports car. I heard someone cry 'Ow.' in a small voice moments after. "Okay… come on out… I know you're there…" I suddenly commanded startling my sister. "Come on… I know you've been following us…"
I remained claim and motionless while Marcia froze up in terror when an unusual white and icy blue Vulpix girl came out from behind the remains of the vehicle. "…How did you know I was following you?" The vixen asked in a stunned tone. "It's not as hard as you think it is, you know… most of you morphs walk around barefoot- I mean barepawed, sorry." I corrected myself. "It's not that hard to hear a pair of claws tapping against the bare floor of an underwater tunnel." I shrugged, drawing my trusted knife. The Vulpix looked down at her clawed 'feet.'
I held the blade out in front of me, pointed at my target. "Now listen here, morph." I growled in a low, hateful tone. "You have about five seconds to leave now with your life, forget about the tunnel you saw and return back to your family… otherwise…" I didn't finish my sentence, hoping that the glare I shot her was sending the message.
"Please, wait!" The morph shouted, holding icy blue her paw out in front of her in an attempt to get me to listen. I ignored her and began to attack. "Time's up!"
(Main POV)
Mark charged Carly in blind attack, not even thinking about what she had to say. Once he was close enough, Mark wildly swung his weapon, aiming to cut the Vulpix into little piece. Carly reaction was as swift as Mark's attacks, dodging every swing of Mark's knife.
The human relentlessly attacked Carly, thinking that she came here to try to cause him and family harm… however that couldn't be any further from the truth. In reality, Carly followed Mark out of curiosity and hopes of seeing what humans are really like when they're at their 'homes' with their families.
Mark kept up his attacks until Carly finally managed to grab his arm and twisted it. Mark dropped his weapon and fell to his knees in pain, unable to move or attack. The pain came mostly from last week's run and his encounters with that mysterious Dragonite morph and the 'lovely' Stephanie Evon.
"Now listen!" Carly shouted. "Bite my ass, you fur covered freak!" Mark shouted in both pain and anger desperately trying to break free. Using his free hand, he jabbed the Vulpix on the tip of her muzzle, sending her stumbling back. Once free of the Vixen's grasp, Mark held his wounded arm in pain and glared at the morph holding her nose.
'…This morph's fast I'll give her that much.' He thought 'But she doesn't seem very strong… wonder why she followed me?' Mark got ready to attack the moment the morph stopped holding her muzzle, there was some red blood dripping from her nose and she looked upset.
'This human's crazy!' She screamed in her head. 'Why is he attacking me? I didn't do anything wrong! Why………wait…' Carly looked behind Mark to find his little sister watching the fight in fear. 'That girl…'
Mark once more ran at the Vulpix head on; ready to beat the hell out of her. Carly, however, took a different approach. When Mark got close to her she avoided his punches, tackled him away from her and spat out blue flames that surrounded the human in a vortex of swirling fire.
"Big brother!" Marcia cried blindly running up to the flaming tornado. "Big brother!" She continued to cry in vain, the flames that surrounded the human prevented her small voice from reaching her old siblings… though Mark was unable to hear his younger sister… Carly sure as hell did. Using her quick attack's speed, she rushed through the blue tornado and stop Marcia before she got too close. "Hold up, kid." She quickly said. Marcia fell to the in fear and began to cry. She was scared… scared for her brother… scared for herself… just plain sacred out her mind.
Inside the tornado, Mark was fine… a little warm yeah, but fine. He was, however, worried about his sister and could only imagine what horrors that Vulpix girl is doing to Marcia. The boy thought about diving into the vortex, in hopes of getting out and getting back to the fight… he shook head and realized that it was a dumb and fatal. The flames were too hot and chances are he'd be charcoal by the time he got trough.
His best bet was to wait until the flames died down and hope and Marcia would be alright… When the flames died down, however… he saw something he'd never thought he'd live to see… the Vulpix girl… was actually comforting his little sister… she was actually hugging her and whispering claiming words… Mark was completely speechless and stunned…
"There, you see?" Carly suddenly said turning to Mark. "I never wanted to hurt him… the Fire Spin was just my way of giving your grumpy older brother a time out." It was at that point that Mark fainted from shock. "…Oh crap…" Carly said as Marcia started to tear up again.
(Some time later)
17:12 hours
"Hey… hey are you okay?" When Mark regained consciousness he found a white furred Vulpix Pokémorph hovering over him. The boy immediately back rolled onto his feet and got ready to attack again. "Wait, no!" Carly cried in vain as the human charged her, covering her face with her paws.
"Big brother, stop!" Another voice called. Mark's fist stopped inches away from Carly's protected face and he slowly turned to face his little sister. Marcia quickly ran up to him and hugged his leg, begging him to. "Please, big brother, don't hurt Carly. She's a nice morph! Please…" "Y-yeah… t-th-that's right… I'm a nice morph… please don't hurt me." Carly frightfully stammered covering her nose… That's the thing most people who knew Carly found odd about her… many people have said she's an amazing battler… and she can best morphs three times her size… but Carly hates violence and simply can't tolerate pain.
Needless to say Mark was confused and shocked. "What? Carly… your name's Carly?" Mark asked the vixen. "Y-yeah… it is…" The Vulpix responded, silently hoping the human wouldn't attack her again. "Okay… Carly, mind telling me why you followed me?" Mark asked narrowing his eyes, glaring daggers at the Vulpix girl.
Carly's tails curled up in anger as fear was replaced with rage. "I tried to explain before you attacked me like some simple minded, barbaric creature!" She shouted. "But no, you had to go and start the fight!" The Vulpix growled.
Mark's hands form a pair of fists as he put his guard up. "Sounds to me like you're looking for another one." The boy grinned with excitement. Marcia was in between both of them. She started to cry again… sad and afraid of what they both will do to each other… it wasn't soon after she started to cough… very dry and painful coughs that made her feel terrible… it was a reminder to Mark that his sister was still sick and needed some of the medicine Dave had stolen.
Mark forgot all about the morph and hurried over to sister… Carly looked concerned as well but was kind of scared to be anywhere near Mark. After about an hour or so of coughing, Marcia finally stopped coughing and Carly felt brave enough to speak. "Is she okay?" She asked hoping that human wouldn't try and start another fight. "Why do you care? In fact what are you still doing here?" Mark asked about do just what the Vulpix had feared.
"Okay, before we go into another fight which you're probably going to lose again. I-" Mark quickly interrupted with a small laugh. "What? 'Lose again?' I don't remember losing any fight." Mark sneered "Apparently someone hit their head pretty damn hard when they fainted." Carly sighed.
"Look before you say anything, I'm not here to cause you any harm." The morph tried to explain in claim voice. "Oh yeah? You could've fooled me when you came out of nowhere and attacked me for no reason." Carly's fur bristled and tails curled up in anger again. "You attacked me, you little-" Carly caught herself and took a deep breath… Mark thought she was getting ready for a flamethrower attack, grabbed his younger sister and dove for cover behind some ruble. However contrary to what Mark thought would happen, the fire morph just sighed out a small blue flame.
"Look… maybe we got off on the wrong paw… or foot or whatever," She started walking up to the human. "And I'm sorry if I caused you or your sister any harm." 'Even though you're the one who should be apologizing to me!' The young vixen yelled out in her head. "Please believe me when I say this, I mean no harm. I'm not here to hurt you, honestly I'm not."
Mark stood up from behind the ruble and looked at his younger sister. "She's telling the truth big brother… Carly's a kind and funny morph… plus she's a Vulpix! The cutest and best Pokémon in the world!" Mark sighed, knowing his sister's affection for Vulpix comes from all the time she spent playing with Tricky when she was a toddler. Tricky would tell her myths and legends about the six tailed foxes and say really ridiculous stuff like "Vulpix created the sun" and "Vulpix could turn into other Pokémon" …What a wild and active imagination Tricky has…
"Okay then… if you really are 'friendly' and I use the term loosely…" Mark's voice trailed off as his eyes quickly scanned the area for the knife Carly knocked out of his hand. "Then why are you here? And most importantly… why did you follow me?"
"I… I really don't know why…" Carly shrugged. "It's… it's kind of hard to explain… but…" Carly sighed, another small blue flame escaped her muzzle. "W-well… I guess… I guess I was just curious." The Vulpix finally answered. "What do you mean by 'you guess you were just curious?'" Mark crossed his arms, staring daggers at the vixen once more. "Well? I'm waiting for an answer…"
"Big brother, please!" Marcia shouted running up to Carly. "Marcia!" Mark shouted in an irritated voice. "Carly's not here to hurt anyone… please Mark… can't you both just say you're sorry and get along?" The little girl pleaded.
Mark looked his sister before looking at the white furred vixen. "……Okay… I can't believe I'm actually doing this… but…" Mark swallowed both his pride and lunch before finishing his sentence. "Carly… I'm… I'm sorry for attacking you." Mark apologized as best he could without throwing up.
"It's okay…" Carly sighed "And I'm sorry for beating you in the fight." The Vulpix cheerful said. "………You didn't win." Mark simply stated. "Of course I did, you fainted and according to the International Pokémorph Battle Champions League: When an opponent-" "Screw you and your rules." Mark quickly cut Carly off. "I fainted because I was shocked to see you comforting my sister."
"What about when I had you trapped by my awesome Fire Spin?" Carly asked folding her arms across her chest. The human remand silent for bit before answering her. "…I had a plan… sort of…"
"Guys!" Marcia shouted. "What?" Both Mark and Carly asked at the same time. "I'm getting hungry…" the little girl sighed holding her stomach. "Can we go back home, Mark?" Carly looked at the human who went to retrieve his knife. Once he found it and place it back in its rightful place in the sheath attached to Mark's leg, the boy nodded and took his sister home.
"W-wait a minute…" Carly suddenly spoke up. "Go home, Carly." Mark rudely responded. "But wait, I have so many questions I want to ask you." The Vulpix pleaded, "Then you can ask me them tomorrow, when I'm out on another supply run." Mark simply answered.
"Big brother…" Marcia shot him a small sad face. The boy tried to look away but found himself looking into another pouting face… this time however it was Carly's vulpine face adding to Marcia's charm "…Alright fine… you can stay and ask away." Mark said, bowing his head in defeat. "But after we eat, alright? I don't know about you two, but I'm straving."
Gunner: Damn Mark, why'd you have go and attack Carly? Don't you think you have enough morphs hating you?
Mark Taylor: What?! You've got to be kidding! Why are you blaming me? You're the author of this story!
Gunner: ...That's besides the point. Point is, you attacked Carly and are now are a very evil person.
Mark Taylor: ............Are you becoming mentally retarded?
Gunner: Well that's all for now... but remember the title of this chapter... this only part one... Mark's troubles are just getting started... he has more to worry about then some rare Vulpix Morph interviewing him... much more...
Mark Taylor: Uh Gunner... you're kidding about that last part... right? Gunner?
Gunner: As always Love it, Hate it, Just review it.
Gunner out.
