So I know it's been a long time coming, I haven't been updating in a long time, I even thought about stopping the publishing of this story, but then again, this story is one of my babies, and I can't let it down.

First, it was because I didn't get reviews in the last chapter, then I lost all inspiration and had a writer's block, but as soon as I got my imagination back, I thought I'd give it another try; so here it is.

And I really wanted to apologize to all those who follow, fav, and review. I'm really sorry for letting you down. I'll do my best to update more frequently. And thank you for sticking with me throught my craziness. I owe you a lot.

I do not own the characters.

Haley has been locked up in her room since the whole "the truth is out" debacle. After being quiet for what seemed like forever, and before anyone could say anything, she stood up and went to get some air. She came back about an hour later and has been locked up in her room ever since.

True, she had a lot to explain to Lucas and Mandy, and she had a lot to say to Nathan; but she didn't have the strength to do so just yet. She didn't even have the strength to cry, and boy she wanted to.

She flashed-back to 2years ago, when everything went wrong. She still remembered everything. She had spent the night at Brooke's the day prior; she was just getting home when everything went downhill. She remembered the feeling she got when she saw her sister in her underwear coming out of her bedroom (and by her, she meant hers not Taylor's), at first, she thought Taylor was just getting something for there, it wasn't the first time that her sister went to her room without her permission, so she didn't think anything about it, but what was her surprise when she entered and saw a half naked Nathan laying on her bed, with the sheets draped over his mid section. Next thing she remembered was being at Brooke's door with tears streaming down her face, she didn't remember ever crying that much. Brooke has been there for her through it all, she even wanted to go rip Nathan's heart out, but Haley begged her not to. They were a team, and no matter what happened between the two of them; she didn't want their little group to die. And what was her surprise when, three days later, Nathan created his clan.

Haley took her guitar for Brooke's bed and started playing notes that were all too familiar to her. She needed to calm down, so she did what she did best and sang her heart out.

I'm sorry, I'm really a mess right now

I'm trying my best to get it together somehow

And I can't stay this way, locked up in this pain that you left me

I'm unraveling, looking for things that'll never be

She was too wrapped up in her song that she didn't see Brooke standing at their door, leaned against its frame.

Stars fade away

They just crash into space

Disappear from the night

Like you and I

Memories of the two of them started coming to her, too fast too heavy. She tried as hard as she could not to cry, but she could feel the tears coming up.

Tell me where love goes when it's gone

Tell me where hearts go when they go wrong

Suddenly someone is no one

I've come undone, undone, undone

Undone, undone, undone.

By now the tears were falling freely down her cheeks, she always cried when singing this song; she never felt this wounded or connected to a song like this one.

I'm sorry I let me fall for you

I can erase you and forget you but I can't undo you

You're the hand I can't hold, the words I'm not told when I'm lonely

And I don't want you back, I just want to have what you took from me.

Her emotions were getting the best of her, her voice started to crack in some notes, but she felt like she needed to sing it to the end, this song always helped her, in a fucked up way.

Stars fade away

They just crash into space

Disappear from the night

Like you and I

Tell me where love goes when it's gone

Tell me where hearts go when they go wrong

Suddenly someone is no one

I've come undone, undone, undone

Undone, undone, undone.

I've come around again

I know it's not the end

But right now I've got nowhere to begin

To begin..

She started playing the low notes trying to calm herself a little, sensing that if she started crying harder than that she would lose it.

Tell me where love goes when it's gone

Tell me where hearts go when they go wrong

Suddenly someone is no one

I've come undone, undone, undone

Undone, undone, undone.

The notes were getting higher by the second, and she could feel her heart race speeding, she always felt this way at this point of the song. It was the end, in some many ways.

Nothing but emptiness inside

Love leaves a black hole when it dies

How can I ever love again ?

I've come undone, undone, undone

Undone, undone, undone

Undone, undone.

She played the last notes of the song before taking her right hand off the chords and sighing. It was then that Brooke made herself known by clearing her throat. Haley jumped a little, and turned to see the smiling face of her best friend. A smile clearing saying 'I'm sorry', Haley gave her the okay smile in return before putting her guitar next to her bed.

"Hey girly." Said Brooke walking in from her spot.

"Hey!"

"I've never heard you sing this one before"

"You were not supposed to hear it now either" she joked to which Brooke smiled. "I wrote it about a year and a half ago, when I was feeling like I was drowning, you know?"

"Yeah.. I remember that time" Brooke said "I don't wish to relieve it thought; I've never seen you that hurt."

"Well, seeing the guy you love in your bed with your sister will do that to you" She tried to joke, failing miserably.

"Lucas is looking for you" Brooke said "Nobody saw you coming in"

"Yeah, I came from the back door." She smiled "I'll go talk to him later, I just want to have one minute to myself to sort things out in my head before answering everyone's question" She laughed after that "I feel like I'm in a fucked up movie, a drama."

Brooke smiled at her friends before going to her and giving her a breathtaking (literally) hug.

"Brooke, I need my lungs to breath." Haley said, laughing genuinely for the first time in 24 hours.

"Sorry." Said Brooke pulling out. "I'll leave you alone then."

She was on her way to the door when Haley called her; she turned her heard then and saw the hesitating look on her best friend's face.

"Could you maybe stay here for a little while?" She asked "I could use your company."

Brooke didn't respond, instead, she went to her and sat down. She took the guitar from where Haley put it and handed it to her, mentioning for her to sing something else. Which she did.

* Better than revenge *

"Here you are!" Exclaimed Lucas "We've been looking for you everywhere"

After singing another song, with Brooke by her side this time, Haley and her best friend started talking about nothing and everything before getting to the most important subject. They talked about Nathan, about what she was going to tell Lucas and Mandy and how she was going to explain everything to them. They were in there for about two hours, just talking; when Haley decided it was time to confront everyone, starting with Lucas and Mandy; which led them to the kitchen, where Lucas and Mandy currently stood.

It was now or never.

"I just needed some time to clear my head."

Lucas nodded in understanding before turning to Mandy who tried her hardest not to ask Haley for anything right now.

"Can we guys sit down? I have a lot to tell you." And so they did.

For the next hour, Haley told them everything that happened from the beginning, answering their questions in the process and more. Lucas was a little disappointed that she didn't tell him anything about any of this before. He always thought that they broke up because of the clans thing; yes he did notice that they were drifting apart a little bit before this whole mess started, but he brushed it off and though they were having a fight. But he never, in a million years, thought it was this fucked up.

"I don't understand something though" said Mandy, when Haley gave her a questioning look, she explained "You weren't the one starting this clan thing, so why? I mean, it's not like he knew you knew right? You said Taylor didn't see you nor did he, so why?"

"Honestly? I don't know either." Replied Haley.

"I think you're about to find out" Intervened Brooke, gaining their attention. Seeing that they were all looking at her now, she mentioned to behind Haley with her head, where Nathan stood, hands in his jean's pockets.

Haley turned around and saw him, tensing right away. She knew she had to talk to him, confront him, but it still felt weird and uncomfortable.

"Can I talk to you?" Nathan said, hesitantly.

Haley looked at her friends getting a nod from them at her unspoken question, before standing up from where she sat, her feet leading her towards her ex-boyfriend.

"Let's go somewhere private." She said, walking in front of him towards her room. She thought about it, before it even happened; two years of pain, hatred, insults and rivalry leading to this exact moment, where everything would either go a little bit right or completely wrong reaching the "no coming back" end.

Here goes nothing.
