On my way out I put the spare key back where I got it and headed back for the guild. Just when I got there I saw Gajeel leaving the building. "Gajeel." I called to him.
He looked up from talking to Pantherlily. "oh there you are kid." He said to me.
I ran to him, "where you just going home now?" I asked him as we started to walk from the guild.
He shook his head, "going for a drink want to come?" he asked me.
I shook my head, "Gajeel don't you remember I cant drink I'm only fourteen." I said to him laughing.
"we still went to that bar last time." He said.
"you took a kid to a bar?" Pantherlily said surprised.
"he dragged me, but it was fun." I said reassuring Pantherlily.
"Gajeel you cant be taking kids to bars at this age." Lily said to Gajeel.
"Gihee." He laughed, "the kid said he had fun though."
Pantherlily huffed, I yawned, "don't worry Lily I was heading to the house anyway I'm tired." I said, "I want to be up bright and early in the morning anyway."
Lily nodded, "okay kid." He said.
I bid them farewell and headed to the house. On the way there I thought of something. I remembered what those guys at the bar said, "Gajeel is this your kid?" they had said.
We had both denied it, yet why do I feel so close to him. There's nothing similar about us except for our hair. Both was pitch black and long because we didn't bother to cut it. as I walked to the house my old scar started to hurt.
I winced in pain but shrugged it off. Sometimes it hurt but it was just a dull ache, every time I tried to remember my past life. It seemed like everything about my past life a few years ago was a big blur covered by a fog of confusion. It always made my head hurt.
I gripped my head as I walked down the street my vision starting to swim a little. I spotted the door to the house and walked shakely to it. I grabbed the door knob and fumbled with the key. When I unlocked it I stumbled in. my head felt like it would explode. It made it hard to think but the one thing I could think of was, 'who were my parents? Where did I come from?' I thought heading for the kitchen to see if Gajeel had some pain reliever of some sorts.
I stumbled to the kitchen looking around. I saw piles of metal all around and a few bags of kiwis here and there. I almost laughed, of course there would be metal and kiwis. I found a cabnit full of medicine. "thank goodness." I said aloud.
I shifted through the medicine till I found the pain reliever. I read the back and took out one pill. I grabbed a glass of water and took it. I then went and laid down in my bed seeing if the medicine would help subside my headache. Before I knew it my mind was shifting away and I dozed off and I shifted down memory lane.
I was a little kid again for some reason. In a nice looking living room somewhere in the world. I looked about five years old at the time. 'what is this?' I thought looking at the little version of me. the little version of me had shorter hair and no scar. 'this must have been from before the accident.' I thought looking as I played with building blocks.
"Mommy, mommy look." Little Kazuma shouted to a young woman.
"well done Kazuma." She said with a smile.
Her face looked so familiar I didn't hit me till later. She had black hair and was kind of short. She had a thick book in her hand and a pair of readin glasses on. Little Kazuma got up and walked over to her and sat next to her. "read to me mommy." Little Kazuma said to her.
She smiled and put her book down and picked up another book. She started reading a weird story on dragons and stars. And I realized, it was my favorite fairy tale as a kid. The Dragon and the Stars was the name of it. I smiled as I stared at my younger self in my mother's lap.
A few minutes later younger me was fast asleep. My mother smiled and picked me up in her arms and put little Kazuma in my bed. My mother kissed his head and left the room staring at my sleeping form.
I followed my mother till she came to the study. She sat down at the desk and turned on the computer. The background on the computer showed a middle aged man, woman and child smiling with a beach background. The man had long pitch black hair and the woman had violet eyes and the child seemed to be a combination of both with the mother's violet eyes and the father's hair and smile.
My mother pulled up an email box and started typing. I wandered away to explore the house. I saw many things that seemed vaguely familiar like it was hidden in the back of my mind.
Before I knew it the sun was starting to set. My mother was cooking dinner and little Kazuma was helping her. 'I guess that where I got my cooking skills from.' I thought looking at little me slice up vegetables.
I heard the door jiggle and headed to investigate. The door opened to see the middle aged man with the long hair from the picture. Little Kazuma ran to the man and leaped into his arms. "Daddy!" little Kazuma screamed with delight.
He smiled a familiar smile and held little me in his arms. My mother walked up to him and gave him a kiss, "welcome home dear." She said with a smile.
He smiled at her, "I'm home shrimp." He said to her.
The voice was familiar, the hair, and the grin. It was all the same as a certain someone I knew. "Wash up dinner is almost ready." My mother said to my father.
He sniffed and grin wided, "smells delicious." He said planting a kiss on little me's forehead.
A few minutes later my whole family was gathered around the table to homemade food. 'One happy family.' I thought sadly.
Time seemed to speed forward and it looked like a few years ahead. Little Kazuma and my father and mother were in a car together happily driving down the highway on the way to something. It seemed like we were all happily chatting together when something rushed out onto the road.
My father spotted it and swerved to avoid it running onto the road that was going the opposite way. A bunch of cars tried to stop and avoid them but they were going too fast. All I saw a clash of cars and smoke than everything stood still. It almost looked like time stood still for a while till you heard the sound of sirens approaching.
A lot of people in other crashed cars got out looking at the damages maybe a few bleeding scratches here and there. The only ones that didn't get out of the car was the car little me and my parents were in.
The car looked almost like a crushed can. I peered in the car and saw three uncoucious figures in the car. All three remain deadly still. the airbags in the front had deployed and pressed my mother and father to their seats. The windows were all broken and glass was everywhere.
I looked around, and saw the medical crew checking all the other victims. One strayed away from the rest to check to see if anyone was left in the car he looked through every car coming to the one with the most damage last.
He peered in and saw three unconscious figures crushed by the seats showered in glass. "we got people in here!" he yelled to the other medical crew.
They all rushed over to the car and did their work to get the people out. When they finally did little Kazuma and my parents were covered head to toe in blood. They were all loaded onto stretchers and put in an ambulance. As they were loading them I snuck in the ambulance after them to see what happens since I couldn't remember anything.
On the way to the hospital I saw the doctor was trying desperately to stop as much blood as they could. "Doctor the woman is losing too much blood!" one guy said as they hooked little me and my parents up to machines.
When I looked at them, they all looked adnormally pale. "get a blood transfusion going." The doctor ordered.
"but doctor we don't know her blood type!" he said to him.
The doctor huffed, "well do a quick blood test." He yelled at them, "for all three!"
They did just as he order. In three minutes flat they had the results as they were wheeled in the hospital emergency room. "the woman here is Lisa Kasai, she is 5 foot 1 and married to Gabriel Kasai next to her. She has A type blood." The assistant replied to the doctor reading off some papers.
"what about the other two?" he questioned as he hooked up the blood transfusion.
"the boy and the father have AB- blood." He read.
"it looks like the boy is suffering from a few broken ribs and a large piece of glass cut his face." The doctor diagnosed looking over little Kazuma.
"Doctor the boy seems to have a hard time breathing." A nurse told the doctor looking at his monitor, "his pulse seems to be going down also."
"it seems like he has internal bleeding and a ribs' puncturing his heart. Get him to surgeury quick." The doctor ordered.
Watching the whole ideal in spririt form made my old surgery wounds hurt. 'surgury wounds.' I thought, 'so this is where I got them from.'
They wheeled little Kazuma into surgery and it took three hours, a few minutes in spirit form. By the time they had little me breathing normally my mother had died from unknown internal bleeding in her abdomen. I looked at my mother's still white form being covered by a sheet. My father was still in a coma because he had hit his head so hard on impact, and little me was sleeping after his surgery.
Tears rolled down my eyes, "mom." I whispered as they wheeled her away. I was think I should remember the car accident but none of my old memories came to me. I looked at my father's and little me's sleeping forms. Lying so still in the hospital bed.
A few days later little Kazuma woke up from his long sleep. Immediately he looked around trying to find his parents. He spotted his father beside him and relaxed a little. Then he started panicing, "where's mommy?" little me said frantically rising his blood pressure.
A bunch of nurses rushed in the room to comfort the little boy, "your mom's sleeping in a better place now." One said comforting.
I guess little Kazuma didn't know what they really meant by then, but he would figure out soon. A few weeks from then little Kazuma was discarded from the hospital. Father was still in a coma so he stayed with his mother's sister and her husband.
It seemed like Auntie and Uncle didn't like my father or little Kazuma because they ignored him no matter how he tried to talk to them normally. It seemed like a few days (a few minutes in spirit form) mother's funeral was going to be held. At the time little Kazuma didn't know anything about it and when the day came he saw his mother lying stone cold in the casket. His face lit up when he say mother. He ran to her casket and tried to wake her, "mommy, wake up." He said to her.
I looked at my aunt and uncle behind him and they both had solemn looks on their faces. Little Kazuma turned to them, "why isn't mommy waking up?" he asked them, "the nice nurse lady said she was sleeping and would wake up soon."
My aunt walked up to him and slapped him across the face as hard as she could turning his cheek red. His eyes weld up with tears, "she dead you insolent child!" my aunt yelled at him, "you and that man killed her!"
Little Kazuma shook his head holding his red, burning cheek, "no, mommy's not dead, she's sleeping." He protested starting to cry.
My aunt had a look of anger and hatred on her face. "because of you my sister died." She said hatred infused in every word.
Little Kazuma started crying harder, and my aunt tried to shut him up. For the rest of the funeral he didn't leave his mother's casket's side, and was reduced to silence and sniffles. When they finally buried mother he had cried harder telling the grave diggers not to bury her.
they just ignored the child and continued till the castket was totally buried. I looked at my aunt and uncle who were crying, but not as hard as the child did. When it was finally over they had to drag the child kicking and screaming home and even then he had screamed until he couldn't.
'I cant believe I was like that before.' I thought staying behind and looked at the freshly laid dirt over my mother's grave. I looked around and say a few people at other graves weeping softly. One little girl looked at me, "mommy there's a boy sitting near that stone." She said pointing to me.
"must be a lingering ghost dear just ignore it." her mother said.
I smiled, only a few could see me. Just the fact that I wasn't actually dead. "but mommy now's there two ghosts." She protested still pointing to me.
'two ghosts?' I thought.
I looked around me and saw that there was indeed another ghost standing there. It was a woman with black hair and violet eyes standing behind the newly buried grave. "Mom?" I asked quietly to the new ghost.
She nodded and held her arms out to me. Tears pooled down my eyes and I ran into her open arms. "Mom!" I said burring my face in her almost flat chest, "I thought I would never see your smiling face again."
She rubbed my head comforting, I felt familiar and I stopped crying. She pulled me off her gently, "my darling Zuma, how you've grown." She said sweetly.
I wiped my tears away and attempted a smile, "I'm not the weak boy that always got bullied in school anymore." I told her.
She lifted up my face, "where did you get this scar?" she asked frowning.
I looked confused, "didn't I get it in the accident with you and dad?" I told her confused.
She shook her head, "no you didn't." she said, "it messed up you cute face."
"mom," I said escaping her grasp, "I think it makes me look cooler. All the kids are scared of me because of it."
"wait," I stopped, "if I didn't get this in the accident then where did I get it from?" I asked her confused more.
She examined it for a few seconds, "it doesn't seemed to be caused by a car accident, it seems more like a knife wound." She said to me.
"mom you sound like Levy." I laughed, "are you sure you haven't been reading too many mystery books?"
Her face looked stone serious. "then cut is too straight for a piece of jagged metal or glass and couldn't go that deep." She said.
"but I don't remember anything, not even the accident. It's like a giant hole in my memories. I was think going through all these different memories would trigger my memories." I said to her.
"auntie said I got it during the accident." I told my mom, "she said a piece of metal hit me during the crash. But now that I think about it I was looking at the younger version of me when he was in the hospital, there wasn't a huge jagged scar on his face. There was only this small scar over the eye and on my cheek." I said pointing to the faint scars.
My mother nodded, "what age did my sister say you got that huge scar?" she asked me.
I searched my memories seeing, "I don't remember, when I started remembering it was about a year since I lived with Auntie." I said coming up blank.
My mother nodded, the sky rumbled, "get to the bottom of this mystery for me, I will be watching over you." She said as she started to fade from view.
"wait but what about father! Is he with you?" I asked her frantically.
She shook her head but I couldn't see her, "he's still unconscious, he's not dead yet, but he will be joining me soon." She said faintly, "I love you my little Zuma."
And with those last words she faded from sight. I stared for a few seconds at the place she last was, "he's not dead yet." She had said about my father.
"father's not dead!" I shouted with joy.
I speed away till I got to Auntie and Uncle's house where I found my younger self in his room coloring quietly. I fazed through the window and wandered the house like I knew it's entire layout, even if I never remembered being in this house.
I wandered into the kitchen where my aunt was cutting meat and putting it in a pot. I stood there silently watching her. A few minutes later little Kazuma came into the kitchen his eyes still red from crying. He walked right up to Auntie and spoke for the first time since he got home.
"Auntie I'm hungry." He said suddenly.
"dinner will be done soon." She said to him.
"but I'm hungry now. Mommy would give me a snack." Little Kazuma said.
She slammed the knife down, "when your in my house you wait for dinner to eat." She said picking up the knife and continued cutting the meat.
He pulled on her arm, "can I help you Auntie?" he pleaded.
She turned to him anger flaring in her eyes again, "go away I know how to cook. Just leave me alone you annoying brat." She yelled at him making the knife go in a arch motion across her chest signaling for the child to get out.
There was a scream and something inside me snapped. All the memories from the past missing years of my missing life came flooding back to me. the accident, finding out about mom's death, and how I got this scar over my eye. It wasn't from the accident, Auntie had caused the scar that same day with her knife. She had put the blame on the accident because the knife wound nicked a few viens in my head causing me to go into shock and lose my memories.
I looked at the scene and saw a giant puddle of blood and a crying seven year old. My aunt looked surprised then uncle came into the room to investagate all the crying and screaming. For a few minutes him and my aunt argued about the crying kid and the gushing blood. When the crying suddenly stopped and they heard a bang they looked to find little Kazuma passed out on the floor, pale from bloodloss and still losing blood.
"get him to a hospital before he dies." My uncle said to my aunt.
She ran out of the room for a minute then returned with bandages. She carefully picked up the child and wrapped the wound that immediately got soaked with blood. From there it was a blur, everything seemed to go 20 times as fast.
I closed my eyes and then opened them and I found myself back in the living room on the couch were I had collapsed. My headache was gone and I remembered everything. I sighed with relief the missing half of my life back leaving me feeling whole again.
I sat up and stretched. I looked out the window above my bed and saw that the sun was almost above the horizon. I just stared finally remembering the times I had with my parents. I heard a chreek of a door and looked to find my father walking in the room. But it wasn't really my father, it was Gajeel.
Then I realized who my father looked like, he looked like Gajeel and my mother looked like Levy. I was bewildered, I cant believe I didn't notice this sooner. The voice, the face, the eye shape, even the hair. They were all the same except for the eye color and sometimes the behavior.
"Gajeel looks like my father." I whispered.
"what are you whispering about?" Gajeel asked with a frown.
"Levy looks like my mother." I continued.
"that means, that Levy and Gajeel are almost like my parents." I said.
"there is no way you are my child." Gajeel said hearing me.
I shook my head, "I remember now. I remember everything. Gajeel my father's still alive back home." I said standing up.
"and your happy because?" he asked me sounding pissed.
"my remaining family isn't dead. I need to go back home, but I don't want to face my aunt and uncle." I said frowning.
I put my head in my hands, "how will I tell them that I'm leaving and never coming back?" I asked myself.
"I'll tell them." Gajeel spoke up.
I looked at him, "but, they wont listen, ever since my mom died, they been raising my their way. When I go back they will ground me till I turn thirty." I paniced.
Gajeel put a hand on my shoulder. I looked up at him, a memory flashed before my eyes, my father sitting next to me his hand on the same shoulder, a look of determination in his eyes the same as Gajeel. For some reason it seemed to comforot me and I relaxed.
"okay Gajeel, you can come." I sighed to him, "but when we get there don't freak out, or beat the shit out of people."
He grinned, "Gihee, when do we leave?" he asked me.
im so sorry for not posting in a while. but good news is that I finished writing this story and is currently working on a new one. and it seems that there's a contest that happens every year where Hiro Mashima selects different stories from the website and enters them in a contest. the winner get's their story turned into a manga. Silent angel eyes and me were entered and I got twenty fifth out of one hundred and she ended up getting second. but congratulations to the winner. so here's a sample of the new story. tell me what you think.
A spray of blood. That's all I saw. My sister smiled at me weakly. "I will always love you big brother." She said to me weakly. Then more blood and she was gone. Her hand fell pale against the bedside.
I sat up in bed, panting it felt like a dream. But Miss Ru told me to be aware of these visions. I felt next to me for my little sister, Michi, to make sure that it hadn't come true. I breathed a sigh of relief. She was alright.
im thinking on calling this quest for the flower. tell me if I should continue this or not. Arigato. Ru
