Okay. We're starting a new chapter.
My ideas for this chappie are a lot and I think I'm gonna put only some. One idea per chapter has too many words already. *sigh* I'll just continue with the problems of the previous chapters. Well, I hope some of the questions are answered in here.
Sitting in bed, the young seer couldn't stop thinking about what happened two days ago. He didn't know what Sarah was thinking at the moment. Did she still think he hated her? Well, he didn't.
He certainly couldn't control himself and his anger. He started going with Will's seer-werewolf friend, Andy, to help him with his powers and everything. He did this almost every night. So far, not much progress was made, but there maybe that was some change. The first day, Andy made him think about the things that made him mad, mostly focusing on the things he denied at the beginning. Those were the few minutes that he realized that his anger was mostly from Sarah's thoughts of him cheating on her.
How could she think like that? She knows I'm her boyfriend. And if anything, dogs and wolves are the most loyal. Just… how could she?
He shook his head, trying to stop thinking about how furious he was, which was also part of his anger management.
After Andy made him angry, he'd make him start to relax, try to show him the bright side, though Ethan wasn't convinced there was one. Ethan knew it was hard for Andy to help him with all of that because every time he'd get angry, the symbol on his arm would change colors to black-purple and he'd get the feeling that he wanted someone dead, someone to be killed.
Spending a few days in there with Andy, he learned that his murderous self didn't come from Scarlett, but from him. It was in a werewolf-seer's nature to be like that: uncontrollable and wild.
He knew that he was never going to be the same Ethan he was before. He changed. He was not coming back. Not ever. The shy, nervous him was gone. If anyone didn't like it, then that should be their problem and not his.
That was not all. The most shocking part of all was that there was no cure for the werewolves of his kind. None at all.
He put his head in his hands and tried to relax. He couldn't take it anymore. If he couldn't be human again, then dying would be better for him. He wanted something silver in his heart at that moment. He wanted to be dead. His life was falling apart by the second. He was going to be a sixteen year old werewolf forever… well, until someone decides to kill him, anyway.
The word kill brought him back to another topic. He still didn't know who shot him with the silver bullet. It couldn't be Sarah or Scarlett because they were fighting by the time he was shot. Plus, he remembered that the killer was a male.
Maybe it was Jesse. He thought about it, but it didn't trigger a memory in his head. It was too hopeless.
Too many things to handle at once for him.
This day, he was supposed to go to the Weir's house so Benny's grandma could tell him the other thing he was supposed to know, and Sarah was coming back to town.
The sun started to rise, so he got up from his bed. He had a lot of time to do both, so he decided to kill time by spending time with his family and hanging out with Benny, who promised to not ignore him again. And that was going to be for a very long time since they were both immortal.
Night came very quickly and Sarah was supposed to be relaxed at her house at the moment. He didn't want to go to her house without letting her or her family know, so he called.
It ringed a few times. To his surprised, she answered the phone.
Instead of a greeting for him, she said, "What do you want?"
"Well, hello to you too. I'm fine, thanks for asking."
"Seriously, why are you calling me? So you could break up with me?"
"No. Only a jerk would do that."
"Last time I checked, you were one." Her voice was almost a yell.
He sighed. "Look, I called to apologize. I really can explain."
"Okay, fine. But you have five minutes. If you take longer, I'm not gonna pay attention and close it on your face." This time, she yelled the last part.
From her voice, she sounded very angry, but Ethan ignored that. He explained to her everything he could and fast, starting from telling her that he was not able to control himself until the part about his new powers. He also felt the need to say the thing about not having any cure for him, so he did.
"I'm... I'm very sorry for that." It was the first that he heard her not mad at him. She seemed to really mean it.
"It's okay. A-At least you might have a chance to get back to normal. I'm not giving up on getting you the cure." He didn't notice it at the beginning, but he sounded really hurt.
"No. I don't want it. If you're staying like this then I will too."
"Sarah, I have no choice. I have to stay like this. But you should be grateful for the possibility of finding the cure because you can get back," he took a deep breath before continuing. "Life will not be the same without you, but… I can handle."
"No. I'm serious. If you can't be human again, then I won't, even if you find the cure."
"Don't ruin your life for me."
"Look, I don't want to lose someone else I love. My brother… he's dead. He was killed. I've known him for only the first eight years of my life and it hurts. It still does. Now, I don't want to die and leave you like this, okay?" The things she said about her brother were forced from her lips - like she didn't want to talk about it, but did anyway.
"Okay," he smiled. "So, do you forgive me?"
"Of course I do. I'm not supposed to be angry at you; you're supposed to be angry at me."
"Yes, it kind of bothers me that you thought for at least a second that I was cheating on you, but I'm okay with it." He really was. "I can forgive easily too."
He heard a happy giggle from the other line and smiled at that.
"So, Sare, can I… come over to your house?"
"I can come to yours."
Her offer seemed nice, but he couldn't take it. "You shouldn't. You came back this afternoon. I advise you to stay. I'll come."
"Okay. I'll tell my parents."
"Well, see you in… ten minutes?"
"Okay. Bye."
"Bye."
And then the conversation was over.
He went to change his clothes to something nice. But was he ever in the mood? He chuckled. He just picked up anything, just being a bit careful, not choosing the shirt Sarah disliked. After five minutes, he was done with everything. He went outside and walked to Sarah's house. It was a good thing it wasn't very far. Walking, it took him seven minutes to reach the house. He rang the door bell and waited for someone to answer it. In about five seconds, he saw the door open by, who he guessed, were Sarah's parents. Her mother had the same skin tone as hers and her father's was a bit darker. Mrs. Fox's hair was straight, reaching her shoulder. Her parents smiled at him brightly.
"Hello. You must be Ethan," her mother said.
"Uh, yes, I am." For some reason, he felt a bit nervous around them even though Sarah once said that they wouldn't say or do anything if he ever met them.
"Please come in," she welcomed him with her sweet voice and bright smile. They led him to a living room once he entered.
The walls were a color of light brown and the ceiling was the same, only a big lighter. The lamps on the wall were designed like torches in a cave. They gave a soft yet bright light. There were four black, big couches in on the wall with two separate chairs on their sides. A glass coffee table was nicely placed in the middle, it's legs a shiny golden color. A TV was placed on a black table in a corner. It was turned on some TV show he never heard of.
"Please, make yourself comfortable. We'll get Sarah."
He nodded and sat down on one of the couches, waiting for Sarah to come, looking at the TV every five seconds.
It only took her a minute or two to come downstairs. Once he saw her, he smiled. She was also wearing casual clothes. But not seeing her for two days made him miss her, especially since she didn't answer her phone.
She took his hand after greeting him and brought him upstairs to her room. It was nice in there. If you'd look around, maybe everything was light purple except for the walls, which were white, and her bed, which was light brown. A few clothes were on Sarah's bed, but she took them away and put them messily inside a closet.
"Sorry about that."
"You've seen my room and you apologize for this?"
She laughed, and then smiled sweetly at him.
"So, how was your trip?" he asked.
"Okay, I guess. It's just that my older sister was annoying me a bit."
"You never told me you had a sister."
"Yes, I know. Just saying her name is a pain in my butt. You don't need to know her." Then she started mocking her sister. "'You should respect me.' 'I'm finishing college.' 'I won't see your face.'"
He chuckled. "You really hate her, huh?"
She nodded. "Enough talking about her. What about you?"
"What about me?"
"Yeah."
"I told you everything on the phone."
"Oh come on," she held his hand, obviously trying to get something out of him. "There must be something."
He had to admit he liked holding her hands. He looked at them, and then looked back at his girlfriend, her eyes meeting his again.
"Does 'I miss you' count?" He asked, his right eye squinting and his right corner of his mouth curving into a smile.
Sarah thought his smile was adorable, so she got slowly closer and nodded.
He noticed that the distance between them was closer. He started to like this day a lot more. Feeling her hands on his face, he couldn't take it anymore.
Just kiss her already.
He didn't hesitate and leaned closer to her. But before their lips could meet, his phone rang. They both had to back away so he'd answer the phone. He took it out to see who it is.
Benny.
He put the phone to his ear, greeting his friend in a disinterested, annoyed voice.
"E, grandma needs to tell you the thing… whatever it is."
Now the subject was interesting him.
"Tell her I'm coming."
Then after their 'okay's and 'goodbye's, they hung up.
"What's going on?" Sarah asked, curious.
"Benny's grandma needs to tell me something. I have to go."
"Can I come with you?" she asked.
"If you'd like to." He stood up.
"Then why did I ask?" she pointed out.
"Right," he mumbled.
She took a jacket and put her phone in one of the pockets and walked to Benny's house. They reached there in also seven minutes, same time as going to Sarah's. After ringing the bell, the door was answered by Benny, standing there and smiling.
"Come inside." He stepped be letting them in.
Evelyn took him and brought him inside a room full with magic potions and stuff he had no idea what they were while Sarah and Benny sat in the living room. He even saw the magic flute in there that they used to lure the demon pets. She grabbed two chairs and let him sit.
"Okay, the thing I'm going to tell you is not something bad at all. It's something very helpful, actually. But takes too much energy, so use it well, okay?"
He nodded.
"Since your seer powers grow, so does the possibility of getting a vision. What I mean is, now, and I know you can do it, you are able to get a vision of whatever you want, but you have to get a physical contact with someone you think will be involved."
"W-What do you mean?" He was a bit surprised by this. It was still hard for him to get a vision, but hearing this, he felt… something. Something he couldn't explain.
"For example, if you want to see your future, any part of it, and you think or know Benny's going to be a part of it, just touch his hand or arm and you'll trigger a vision. As simple as that. Or if you want to get one anyway, hold anyone's hand and think hard. But you will get tired after it. I suggest you try to do it two times max or else you're going to be very tired. And when I say very, I don't kid."
"So, it's a good and bad thing."
"Yes, but you're still young. You'll get better at everything in a few years."
He nodded.
"Well, what are you waiting for? Try it."
He nodded and looked at her stretched arms. He took her hand and closed his eyes, remembering to think hard. He wanted to see if he'd die a werewolf. He just wanted to know if there was hope for him to get back to being a human. He concentrated very hard that he thought his brain might pop out of his head. But then, his eyes opened. No, he wasn't looking back at the room, but he was in a vision. It felt a bit weird. Everything was much more vivid.
It was a dark night. The full moon was shining above Whitechapel, giving it a nice light. It would've been nicer if it weren't for the people running and shouting with parents telling their kids to hide inside the house. It was disastrous. The place was completely destroyed. The street lamps were falling, the roofs of the houses were almost not there, fire was set here and there and bodies were on the ground.
Sarah and Ethan stood, him holding her close to his body. He still looked sixteen and she was still seventeen. He looked sad as she cried on his shoulder. He kept trying to comfort her but she wouldn't stop sobbing.
First, it was confusing why she was crying. But then, he saw why. Two piles of ashes were on the ground with Benny's bloody body lying there with them. His chest was still spilling blood. They were dead.
"I'm heartbroken too, but we can't do a thing about this," Ethan said.
Her sobs were quieting down a bit, but they wouldn't stop. "I-I know." She raised her head to look at him.
"We lived a good six hundred and thirty one years together."
Six hundred and thirty one. That was a lot.
"Don't say that. We'll try to make it out alive. Please. Just don't." Her sobs became loud again.
"I wish. He's too strong."
It was the second time she quieted her sobbing down. This time, she didn't seem like she wanted to cry anymore. "I know," she breathed out.
"If we… don't make it, I just wanna say that I love you."
"I know that too. And you know I love you."
He smiled. A second later, they were having a small kiss, then they were off running.
"How are we going to find him?" Sarah asked.
Ethan shrugged, coming to a halt with Sarah.
"He's too tricky," he looked left and right. "I think we should separate."
"No. We have to stick together. You're all I have left."
He nodded in understandment. He looked to the left and right, but before he could even look back at Sarah, he showed an expression of pain and fell on his knees. Then it was shown that there was something silver sticking out of his back, then it was taken out. He fell to the ground and groaned in pain.
"Ethan!" Sarah screamed, her eyes already watery. She knelt down beside him and cried over what was happening. "Please don't leave me." She took his hand in hers and squeezed it, letting him know she was there.
He opened his eyes despite the pain he felt, looking past Sarah. She wanted to take a glance behind, so she turned her head. There stood a man that looked thirty in his age. He had black hair and dark, dark eyes. His smile showed pure evilness.
"You!" she exclaimed.
"I see you're happy to see me," he said. "I also hope you liked the surprise that I gave your husband."
"Shut up!" She looked back at Ethan's already dying body then looked back at the man. "Just kill me now and get this over with."
"No. Please," Ethan managed to get out, choking after saying those words. He slowly became pale.
"Wow, you're making it too easy, Sarah," the man smiled. "This will be nice."
But Ethan's dying eyes closed and the vision ended.
He let out a small gasp, followed by him trying to relax on his chair. Evelyn was right. It took away perhaps too much energy from him.
"You look worried. What did you see?" she asked.
He shook his head. "I'd rather not talk about this."
So, they'd all live for six hundred years and more and die on the same night. There was no hope for him after all.
But a word kept repeating in his head. "Your husband."
He was going to marry Sarah. In spite of feeling tired and worn off, he smiled. Besides, he wouldn't die for another six hundred years. He felt sudden joy. He got up and thanked Mrs. Weir for this, and then walked outside to see his girlfriend and best friend.
"Hey guys," he said.
"Hey E, you look happy… and horrible at the same time," Benny commented.
"Shut up."
"Just telling the truth."
"I'm just… tired." He sat down beside Sarah and put his head down.
"So, what did she tell you?"
Listening to that question, he answered her, telling her what she said.
"Really? What did you see? Because… you're obviously exhausted." Sarah leaned backwards and listened to him.
He didn't want to tell her about the part where they were actually married because she might think he was a freak and dump him. "I dreamed of the night we all die in. I just saw my death, but I'm pretty sure you all die the same." Still thinking about it, the seer put his head down in his hands.
The others were silent for another two minutes or so when Sarah broke the silence. "It's okay. All of us eventually die."
"It's not that. None of us are getting back to normal. Six hundred and more years, guys! That's… not human."
"Oh," Benny simply said, sounding a bit disappointed.
The other boy sighed. "I just wanna go home."
"I'll get you there... if you want," Sarah suggested.
He agreed to let her come with just because he was weary. When he reached the front steps of his house, he let Sarah go home, claiming he could go inside on his own. Once he entered and greeted his parents, they noticed that he was drained.
"Ethan, honey, are you okay?" his mother asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"
He hated it when people would ask these questions after one another.
"Yes, I am." He tried to hide his annoyance.
"Because if you are, we can-"
"Mom, I'm fine! Stop asking that!" He didn't mean it, but that came out as a shout.
Samantha gasped, covering her mouth and Ross just stared, shocked.
He didn't know what was going on, but then he realized. One) the symbol was shown a bit and it was shining a bright color of red, hinting anger. Two) since this color meant anger, he knew that his eyes changed colors as well.
He tried to control himself until he saw the symbol was back to its original color.
"Mom, Dad-"
"What's going on?" she asked, a bit scared.
Ethan suddenly didn't feel fatigued. "Mom, I can't…" he paused for five seconds "I can't tell you now."
"Why can't you?" she asked, not worried anymore but angry.
"Because if I do, I have to say to spill out the others' secrets too. I don't have their approval." His mom was really scared. It was shown in her face. "I'm sorry." He hurried upstairs and got inside his room locking it.
Why did he have to lose control? Why did he have to let this happen? Why couldn't he have controlled himself?
He put his head down, hoping to forget about this, about life, about everything.
But he couldn't with the knocks on the door. "Ethan?"
He hesitated to answer him mother, but did. "Yes?"
"Do you not trust us?"
"No. It's not that. It's just… I'm scared to tell you. I'm scared."
He finally let it out. He finally said the reason why he never told them. Fear was just eating him up – it still was.
"But why?"
"I just am."
"Okay." The way she said it was a not-so-low whisper.
Silence.
"Mom?"
"Mhmm?"
"Are you scared of me?"
"No. Just worried. I just want to know."
"Okay. I'll get my friends' approval tomorrow."
"I still love you, you know."
He shifted his body a bit so he could be comfortable. "Yeah, I know. I love you too."
"Okay. G-Good night."
He didn't reply back, he just drifted off to sleep, not wanting to think about all of this.
So, was this good? I hope it was.
Yay! Finally done with this chapter. See? I told you this chapter would have some stuff in it. I tried to make every event short… yet not short so it wouldn't be rushed.
Well, until then.
