On with the story! So in the last chapter Jackie learned the final task, but refused to do it since it would hurt her brother. Also, Chip decided to hunt Jackie! So, this chapter will be like an epilogue/finish, and I hope you love it!

Chapter 12: Third and Final Task Part 2

Jackie bounced her brother on her hip as she tried to think as quickly as possible. She was out of choices and out of ideas. Without the "blood of the innocent" she wouldn't be able to enter her world. Jackie refused to spill her brother's blood.

The sudden ruffle of leaves behind her made Jackie spin around. There between the trees stood Chip. His hair was a mess and his eyes looked almost blood shot. He was breathing heavy. Jackie swallowed the air in her throat; she was already nervous and anxious and Chip never made her feel better.

"What are you doing here?" Jackie asked her voice stained with tears.

"Your mother sent me." He said, playing with the gun still in his hand. Jackie's eyes went to it. Her eyes bugged out when she saw it. "I promised to bring you back." He smiled wickedly. "Of course there are always complications with crazy people."

"What are you talking about?" Jackie asked already knowing.

"I'm so sorry, Pam." Chip said, mimicking talking to Pam. "She was crazy, she attacked me. I had to defend myself." His wicked smile grew bigger.

"Chip, please don't." She pleaded. She felt everything fall apart.

"I could have given you anything you wanted." He said. His tone was bitter as he scowled at her. "You are a crazy bitch." He held the gun up. "You should have been mine." He fired the gun.

Jackie felt a pain in her heart. The forest spun around her. She could hear Max crying against her. She couldn't breathe. Jackie felt the blood rushing out of her body. She felt her legs locking as she fell back against the Hollow Tree. Her body laid in the middle of the tree. Her head rocked back and her mouth hung open. The world grew dark around her, soon everything turned black.

Suddenly, a gunshot was heard again. Chip looked down and saw blood dripping down his chest. He turned around and saw Marissa standing there, a gun in her hand. Chip grew dizzy. "You bitch." He said before falling over on the ground.

"You were the crazy one." She said, weakly. Marissa ran to Jackie's side. Tears rushed from Marissa's eyes as she saw the life leave her eyes. Marissa took Max in her arms and held him close. He was cold like Jackie. Marissa cried at the deaths of the innocent.

The blood from Jackie's heart dripped onto the wood of the tree . . .

*At the same time*

Jaqueline's eyes opened and blinked at the sunlight around her. She felt the warm touch of someone's hand on her cheek. She turned her head and smiled when she saw Steven smiling at her. Jaqueline looked down and saw the blood was gone from her. She was dressed in a gown of pink, silver and gold. Her hair was in perfect curls. She looked like something out of a fairytale. Steven kissed her temple. "You did it." He said, his smile going from ear to ear.

Jaqueline looked back at him. "What do you mean?" She asked, feeling confused. "I refused to cut Max."

"The final task was a trick." Jaqueline looked past Steven's shoulder and saw her mother standing there. She was smiling almost as big as Steven. In Queen Viola's arms Max laughed happily. Jacqueline felt her eyes well up as she realized Max did come with her. Viola held out one of her arms. Jaqueline gladly ran to her, embracing her mother.

"Mother," Jaqueline spoke weakly into her mother's neck as tears spilt from her eyes.

Viola kissed the top of her daughter's head. "You spilled your own blood, rather than the blood of an innocent. That was the final task. And it was the most important." Jaqueline and her mother broke apart. Jaqueline saw the others, Eric, Kelso, Fez, Red, the members of the council all standing around, grinning at her. Jaqueline looked behind herself and saw the Hollow tree standing strong in its roots. It seemed like it had all been a dream. She looked back at the ones she loved. She was home. Jaqueline walked back to Steven and placed her lips on his. His arms went around her back as hers went around his neck. They placed their foreheads together and smiled at one another.

"I knew you could do it." Steven whispered to her. "I love you," Steven said before lightly kissing her lips again.

"I love you, too" Jaqueline said back to him.

Jaqueline ruled her world by her mother's side. She was loved by her people and was one of the greatest queens their world had ever known. She ruled wisely with kindness, curiosity and love. She left quiet traces of her time on the other side of the Hollow Tree and if you look closely you might just see them.
