Chapter 12

The sunlight came across the window and woke me up. I opened my eyes just to see Yuffie sleeping without any problem and the sound of someone snoring could be heard, that'd be Vincent. I looked at my watch and it was still too early to get up so I tried to fall asleep again but I couldn't, Vincent's snores were too loud. Then, Yuffie got up out of the bed.

"SHUT UP, VINCENT! I'M TRYING TO SLEEP!"

The snores couldn't be heard anymore and Yuffie got back to bed. She covered herself with the sheets, looked at me and fell asleep. What?! How can a person fall asleep just like that? Yuffie seemed to be a very nice person, but... I wasn't sure about her and Van. I mean, what kind of relationship they had? Why Van never told me about her? I was lost in my thoughts when the alarm on Yuffie's phone took me out of them. She quickly got up and turned it off. She looked at me and smiled, with her messed-up hair.

"Rise and shine, Xion."

"M-morning, Yuffie..."

"You feeling bad?"

"N-no, it's just..." I couldn't let Yuffie know about Van. "... I'm on my days..."

"Oh! I'm sorry, Xion. I'll try to be nicer to you. Everything you need just let me know, okay?"

I just nodded and we both parted to the bathroom to wash ourselves. When we got out of the bathroom, eggs and bacon could be smelled from the kitchen. We both went to the kitchen just to see Vincent finishing cooking and serving on dishes.

"How's hungry?"

"Me! Me! I am!" Said Yuffie almost like she was starving.

"How about you, Xion?"

"Hey, Vincent. She's on her days." She said whispering to him.

"Okay, got that. So... are you gonna eat or...?

"I-" My stomach answered that question. "... I would like to eat...please."

Vincent and Yuffie laughed a bit and then he served me my breakfast. Last time I breakfasted with somebody was with Naminé. I wonder how is she now. She used to be a good girl as long as I was beside her. Not to mention that she was mom's favorite.

"By the way, Vincent, aren't you supposed to be working right now? I mean, what happened?"

"Someone owed me a favor and so, I'm at vacations right now. So you better get used to me. I don't want to run into you taking a shower or walking naked again."

"Hey! That was supposed to be a secret!"

"Did I say that aloud? So, Xion, do you cook?"

"I... can cook, but... mom or sis are way better than me..."

"Well, I don't think you cook ad bad as Yuffie does. I know, as a payment for letting you stay here, you'll make the dinner for us."

"But I have to work?"

"Don't worry, I can wait until your break. So, what do you say?"

"I guess it's fine, since I'm staying here."

"Oh, great! Xion's cooking! And I don't cook that bad, Vincent!"

We finished our breakfast and Yuffie and I departed to Seventh Heaven. We were already with the maid uniform, fact that earned us some looks from a lot of guys. Yuffie waved them all, but I just stood still and kept walking. We got there just in matter of minutes and Reno and Rude were already ready to work.

"Good morning, ladies." Said Rude.

"Yo, ready to work?"

"We're both ready, right, Xion?"

"Uh-huh."

"What's the matter with her?"

"She's on her days, Reno. You should be gentler to her. Just act like Rude."

"Xion, are you sure you can work today? You can go home of you want. I can talk to Reno and-"

"It's okay, Rude. I can work. All I need to do is to take orders and smile, right?"

Rude just nodded and went into the kitchen. Yuffie and I started to clean the tables and wait for the costumers to come. We waited and waited for so long that I almost fell asleep of boring. It was almost midday when a red-headed girl came in.

"Welcome to Seventh Heaven. Can I help you?"

"Oh, hi. Yes... uhm... I want to order a special of the day and a frapuccino please."

"Are you taking both, miss?"

"No, a friend of mine is about to come."

"Oh, sorry about that. Please take a seat, your order should be ready in a few minutes."

I went into the kitchen and gave the order to Rude. In matter of minutes, the special and the Frappuccino were ready to go.

"Who ordered this, Xion?"

"It was red-headed girl, why?"

"I see." He quickly pour into the special two more cubes of sugar. "Tell Kairi I say hi, please."

I nodded and went out of the kitchen and served the special and the Frappuccino on her table.

"Rude says hi."

She smiled at me and proceeded to taste the amount of sugar. She smiled again.

"Hey, you're new here, right?"

"Yes, I am."

"Come on, forget that. I'm Kairi."

"Xion. Nice to meet you."

"So, why Destiny Islands?"

"I... don't like to talk about that..."

"Oh, I'm sorry, Xion. Didn't know it was so hard to talk about it..."

"Don't worry, you didn't know."

We continued chatting until another costumer came in and I had to take his order. By the end of the day Yuffie and I were on our way to home when we ran into Kairi.

"Hi, Yuffie, Kairi. Going home?"

"Yeah, kind of. What about you? Are you going out with Sora tonight?"

"Uh-huh. Tonight we're going to the movies."

"By the way, Kairi. Do you know any guy who wants to go on a date with Xion. She's feeling very bad since she came here."

"HEY! I'M OKAY BY MYSELF!"

"Maybe… Riku? He's trying to find some company since Sora and I started to date out. Wanna try him, Xion?"

"I don't know if I…"

"It's okay! She'll do it! Right, Xion?"

"I guess I can try…"

"Okay, I'll tell Riku to go to the shop tomorrow. Be on your guard, Xion."

I just nodded and we continued our way to home. When we got there, we found Vincent talking with someone on the phone. He seemed to be serious because he didn't say us hi until he finished talking. Yuffie and he started to argue as always and I just went to our room to get some rest.

I wasn't sure about meeting this Riku. I mean, Van just died a few days ago and I haven't got it over with yet. I don't know if I could go out with some new guys that aren't him. I really loved him and now he's dead. I can live my life, but don't want to do this if it isn't with Van.

"Hey, Xion, dinner's ready."

"Okay, don't let Vincent eat my part."

"Roger!"

Vincent and Yuffie were always arguing but they do look like they're going out. Although, they don't recognize it, I can see that they love each other. They remind me a lot of Van and I. if things were different it would be Van and me arguing and laughing about it.

"Hey, Xion, are you gonna eat? If you don't want it I can-"

"Shut up, Vincent! She has to eat!"

"I'm eating, I'm eating!"

They both laughed at my reaction and continued to eat. Vincent did cook well, but I can't understand why he doesn't cook instead of letting Yuffie cook. He could save so many lives. We all finished the food and I went to do the dishes. Then, I went to my room and tried to get some sleep.

I was lying on the bed, looking at the ceiling trying to remember the few times I was with Van and the few times I was happy. That's when it hit me. Naminé! She was in love with Van too. But... she couldn't be with him because he's dead now. At least I should call her, just to know how things are going. I went out of the room, but Vincent caught me trying to get out.

"Where are you going?"

"I'm going to call my sister, I just want to know how is she."

"Maybe you don't, just... don't do it now, okay?"

The way Vincent was acting was very suspicious, but I had to obey him and stayed at home. I waited until we all went to sleep and decided to move on paln B.

"Hey, Yuffie. Mind if I use your cellphone?"

"Are you gonna call Reno or Rude?"

"No. It's my sister. I want to know how is she, that's all."

"Okay. Try not make it long."

"Thanks, Yuffie."

I dialed my sister number and waited for her to answer. It ringed four times until she finnaly answered.

"Hi, sis. It's me. Xion."

"Hey, this is Vanitas, Naminé is busy now. Who did you say you are?"

I quickly hunged up and tried to tranquilize myself. Was Van really alive? I checked t number I dialed like four or five times. It was for sure Naminé's number. I just... couldn't accep it...

"Hey, Xion... are you okay?..."

Her voice started to fade away and my sight was going all black. I lost the balance and fell to the ground.
