Leia. Yes, I've already agreed it was suspicious, Luke. But haven't we agreed there could be a lot of explanations?
Han. Maybe he's broken his Beam of Light?
Luke. But what about when he said, "Don't forget to keep that one safe?" That sounded to me like Arkos has got another one of the broken objects. And Marek wants both.
Han. You think?
Luke. Yes, I do. Marek's father is on Kessel. Don't you think Marek would like revenge?
Han. Marek, revenge? What could he do?
Luke. That's my point. I don't know. But he's up to something. And I think we should take it seriously. His father's a Sith Lord and . . .
Luke looks away, as realization dawns on him.
Leia. Luke. What's wrong?
Han. Your scar's not hurting again, is it?
Luke. He's a Sith Lord. He's replaced his father as a Sith Lord.
Han. [laughs] You're spacesick. What would You-Know-Who want with a rodder like Marek?
Leia. It seems very unlikely, Luke. What makes you think . . . ?
Luke. In Shmi Skywalker's, she didn't touch him. But he yelled and jerked his arm away from her when she went to roll up his sleeve. It was his left arm. He's been branded with the Sith'ari.
Han and Leia exchange looks.
Han. Well . . .
Leia. I think he just wanted to get out of there, Luke.
Luke. He showed Arkos something we couldn't see, something that seriously scared Arkos. It was the Sith'ari. I know it. He was showing Arkos who he was dealing with. You saw how seriously Arkos took him.
Han and Leia exchange looks.
Leia. I'm not sure, Luke.
Han. Yeah, I still don't think You-Know-Who would let Marek join.
Luke storms off.
Exit Han and Leia.
Enter Mara.
Mara. I wouldn't go in the kitchen just now. There's a lot of Bugslut around.
Luke. [smiles] I'll be careful not to slip in it.
Exit Mara.
Enter Jaina and Alema.
Alema. Ganner and I have almost decided on only two bridesmaids. Mara and Numa will look very sweet together. I am thinking of dressing them in pale gold. Pink would, of course, be horrible with Mara's hair.
Jaina. Ah, Luke. Good. I wanted to explain about the security arrangements for the journey to Tython tomorrow. We've got Republic speeders again. And there will be stormtroopers waiting at the spaceport.
Luke. Is Tahl going to be there?
Jaina. No, I don't think so. She's been stationed somewhere else, from what Jonash said.
Alema. She has let herself go, that Tahl, a big mistake if you ask . . .
Jaina. Yes, thank you. [to Luke] You'd better get on, Luke. I want the trunks ready tonight, if possible, so we don't have the usual last-minute scramble.
