Twelve- A Dam Broken

Pan glanced around her room with a bright smile. It looked like a disaster zone, with clothes thrown about everywhere but she wasn't complaining. In just one week, she would officially be going home! She had kept the news a secret from Goten and the Briefs, wanting to surprise them. She almost giggled at the thought of their faces.

With a happy hum, Pan turned and looked in her mirror. She was wearing a pair of dark faded shorts, a black halter crop and a pair of converses. It was a comfortable enough outfit for the party, she figured.

Usually, Pan wasn't the party type of person, and considering how the last party she went to turned out... she hadn't planned on even going to this one. But a girl she went to school with was hosting it and was really wanting her to come, since it would be the last big party before the end of the summer. So, Pan agreed, figuring it would give her a chance to tell everyone she went to school with goodbye as well. She knew other schools would be there as well... Pan just hoped she wouldn't regret going like she did the last time.

Yuri saw her as soon as she walked in. Of course, it was always easy for him to notice Pan. To him, she had always been like a magnet, and for him, it was impossible to pull away.

He blended into the crowd as she walked passed him, not even spotting him and he felt his jaw tighten. It was always so easy for her to look past him. If he had been Trunks, it would be a different story.

"Deeds done," Koun said as he walked up, a small, sinister smirk on his face.

Yuri eyed him out of the corner of his eye and his lips twitched. He had never had any trouble when it came to picking up girls except for one. Koun on the other hand, always seemed to have had to use other methods.

"Go," he nudged Koun with his elbow.

"What are you going to do?" He asked Yuri curiously.

Yuri's eyes drifted over to Pan again. She was now going to the targeted punch bowl and he watched in satisfaction as she got a drink as she began talking to some girls she went to school with. It would only be a matter of time...

"I'm going to have some fun myself..." Yuri smirked.

Koun glanced at him before taking off through the crowd.

Yuri watched Pan as she continued to sip the punch and talk to her friends. He was patient, waiting for his chance as she laughed and chatted. It was hard for him to keep his eyes off of her...

Six years they had known each other, but he had known about her for much longer. He never expected to meet her, especially not in Ember, so far away from her home in the mountains, but he had. It was like Fate was trying to tell him something. That had to be a sign, he just knew it.

Of course, he started it off slow. Becoming her friends was his first and most important goal, and for a few years, it had worked. He was spending almost every day with her and for him, it was like a blessing. Then, problems arose. He knew his attitude had started to change and he took a lot of his new emotions out on her. He had uncontrolled mood swings, and she witnessed a majority of them.

When it seemed like the two of them were finally hitting it off nicely, he appeared. Trunks Briefs, aka, the only man Pan had ever had her eyes on. Again it was Yuri's fault when the two of them had stopped being friends. He couldn't help his jealously towards Trunks, though that night. Pan had trusted trunks completely, and now years later they were basically dating? When Pan had told him, Yuri had wanted to scream or throw a ki blast at someone's face- Trunks' preferably.

It had taken a few years, but finally they were friends again. Yuri knew they weren't nearly as close as they once were, but she had always been a little too forgiving and trusting...

Yuri watched as Pan continued to talk with some friends and drink the punch. It didn't take long at all for him to notice the changes... She was moving slower and seemed like she was in a daze. He smirked to himself as she glanced up, seemingly fascinated with the flashing lights.

Trunks might have won her heart but Yuri was determined to win something more tonight. He secured his cap over his bleached hair and made his way over to his target.

Pan was in awe. She never realized just how amazing colors were. The lights above were just so... beautiful. There were blues and greens. Purples too. Oh, she loved purple the most. Especially lavender. Lavender and ocean blue. Her favorite colors. They were just so pretty! And when she thought of them, she got all warm and fuzzy. It was possibly one of the best feelings.

"Panna..."

Pan blinked, a fuzzy feeling starting to stir inside of her. That name reminded her of lavender and ocean blue. That name caused her heart to skip beats and butterflies to flutter in her stomach.

She turned slowly and saw a tall man standing before her. He had a black cap on his head and the shadow of it covered his eyes but the hair that was sticking out of it seemed lavender in the glowing, hazy lights. Pan's stomach fluttered.

"Panna..." the man spoke again, and she watched his lips carefully. She knew that name. She knew it well.

"Trunks..." the name sounded familiar coming from her mouth and the warm, fuzzy feeling raged as if it agreed. Yes.. That name, too, seemed to warm her. She smiled once more. "Trunks," she said again with a giggle.

"Panna," the man smiled now. He reached down and grabbed her hand. "Let's go somewhere quiet..."

She trusted him completely and followed as he lead her up the stairs, away from the party and to a room. Slowly, Pan began remembering. Trunks... her Trunks. She sighed and wrapped her arms around him happily and began nuzzling her nose against his chest.

"What are you doing here?" She giggled. The warm, fuzzy feeling was making her feel so funny, but she didn't mind it.

"I had to come see my Panna..." his hands came up and ran through her soft hair.

Pan sighed softly. She glanced up at him, pouting slightly. The room was dark and her vision was blurry... Why was it blurry? Perhaps because of the warm, fuzzy feeling? Whatever the cause, she didn't really mind.

She giggled softly, remembering something special that made the warm, fuzzy feeling go all throughout her body.

"What's funny...?" He asked, and Pan noted that his voice seemed softer than it should have been. More fuzzy... Wasn't his voice usually deeper and a bit raspier?

Pan choose to ignore it. She was feeling too good at the moment. She wanted to enjoy this. He was here!

"Remember New Years?" She asked, her voice whispering in excitement.

"Hm..." his hands found her cheeks and she felt herself growing warm at the touch. It felt so nice... "Remind me... What happened...?"

Pan grinned and bit her lip as she giggled. "You..." she pointed to her mouth. "My very first kiss," she sighed.

His hands fell from her cheeks and Pan frowned. Had she done something wrong?

"Did I...?" He asked in a low, flat voice. "Well..." he cleared his throat as his hands found her shoulders. He pushed her onto the bed and Pan fell back with a small gasp.

With her heart beating erratically in her chest, Pan watched as he crawled onto the bed and straddled her. The fuzzy feeling was swirling inside of her, making her stomach feel sort of queasy. Where did the nice feeling go? Why was she feeling so bad now...?

"Would you like for me to do more this time...?" His hands rested on the bed beside her head, trapping her beneath him.

Pan felt as if her heart was going to go up her throat. This... This didn't feel right. This didn't feel like him. He would never do this to her.

"I'll do so much more..." he told her, his hands coming up to stroke her cheek. He ran his hand down her cheek to her neck and then to her chest...

"Wait..." Pan spoke up, her voice barely above a whisper as she grabbed his hand. No... This wasn't right.

"It's okay," he told her, pressing down on her more. His mouth came to her neck and she could feel his breathing. It scared her... "It's me... I'll be gentle..."

Pan's eyes were wide as she felt his lips touch her neck. Her body was growing cold, the warm, fuzzy feeling disappearing fast. This... This wasn't right! She was coming to her senses as if she had been poured with cold water. She couldn't sense this persons ki... It wasn't him!

Grabbing his shirt with both of her hands, Pan yanked the person off of her. He groaned, falling back beside her as she sat up.

"What's wrong...?" He sat up, his cap falling off his head.

Pan squinted her eyes, trying to adjust them in the dark room. Her vision was still blurry but slowly a person was coming into place.

"Yuri..." the voice was an whispered echo through the room.

He let out a small sigh and his eyes fell towards the ceiling. "You couldn't just keep going along, could you?"

Pan jumped up from the bed, slowly backing up towards the door. She felt absolutely sick to her stomach. Yuri... He had pretended to be Trunks! He knew Pan trusted Trunks more than anyone so he pretended to be him! And Yuri was going to take advantage of her while doing it! She felt tears coming to her eyes.

"How could you?" She asked, feeling so hurt. She thought he was her friend! But he was going to... The thought made her shiver.

"Pan," he stood up and Pan took another step back.

"Stay away!" She hissed at him.

Yuri let out a loud, annoyed huff. "You followed me in here, you know! I didn't drag you up here!"

"I thought..." Pan began to shake as she choked on a sob. "I thought... you were..."

"Trunks?" Yuri raised an eyebrow, his dark eyes glaring down at her. "Would you have given it to him, princess?" He sneered.

Pan swallowed hard. "Trunks isn't like that!" She shot back, clenching her fist. "He wouldn't do something like that! You're... You're a monster!" She yelled at him. "I can't believe what you tried to do!"

Yuri just smirked, walking towards her slowly. "Say what you want. But if you hadn't realized that I wasn't him, I bet I would be showing you a grand time right about now. Why don't you let me just prove it to you?"

As he reached out towards her, Pan threw out her hands and slammed them against his chest, sending him flying back against the wall. She was breathing heavily, her stomach was churning. She had to get out of here!

"Stay away from me!" She spat to Yuri, who was groaning against the wall. She didn't spare him a second glance as she took off running out of the room, down the stairs and out the front door.

Pan was shaking and she wasn't sure if she'd ever stop. She had ran into the condo so fast and bolted up to her room that she hadn't even given her Gramps a chance to ask if everything was okay. She rushed up to her bathroom where she promptly emptied her stomach in her toilet. So now here she was, staring at her sickly reflection after she brushed her teeth and scrubbed her face. Her hands gripped the counter as her mind kept flashing back.

The punch... That had to be the explanation for it. Maybe she should go to the police? But she had no evidence and she knew Yuri would have done something with the punch by now, if anything, to cover his butt. She tightened her fist in aggravation. She hated not being able to do anything!

If she ever saw Yuri again... She'd... Honestly she wasn't sure what she'd do. One part of her wanted to beat him until he was black and blue. She wanted to do unimaginable things to him, but... Another part of her was terrified of him. He made her believe he was Trunks. She actually fell for it. The fact that he could trick her like that terrified her even if she was under the influence.

Pan took a deep breath through her nose and held it for a few seconds before releasing it through her mouth. She did that several times until she stopped shaking. Once that was done, she grabbed her phone and dialed her father's number.

He answered on the second ring. "Hello my Panny!" He greeted brightly.

"Papa..."

"Panny, is something wrong? Is everything okay?" He asked, instantly sensing something wasn't right. "Do I need to-"

"No, Papa," Pan said. "You don't need to rush over here," she chuckled softly. "I'm just... missing home a lot," it wasn't a lie. "I know I'm coming back next week but I was wondering... Could I maybe come back tomorrow?" She tried not to let her voice crack. "I'm just really ready to come home."

"Oh Panny, of course!" Gohan said. "Your Mama will be so happy to hear that, and Rin too! Do you want me to come now? I'll come and-"

"No, I still have a bit more stuff to pack up," Pan said, wiping her eyes. "I'm just ready to be home..." she chuckled softly.

"Oh okay..." Gohan said softly. "I'm so happy you're coming home, Panny."

"Me too, Papa. I'm going to finish packing now. I'll see you in the morning. I love you!"

"I love you too, Panny. Sweet dreams, darling. I'll see you in the morning."

Pan gave a small, sad smile down at her phone. She loved her Papa dearly, and he loved her. Of course he'd be able to tell something was bothering her... But she was glad she was able to convince him it was because she wanted to come home.

Slowly, Pan went down the stairs and explained to her Gramps about why she ran inside. She told him she had gotten sick at the party and that she would be going home tomorrow instead of a week from then. Hercule understood and giving her a kiss on the forehead he sent her to bed to rest.

Pan piled up a majority of the rest of her belongings and capsuled them. The rest could be done in the morning. She crawled into her bed, feeling so heavy...

She grabbed her phone and without thinking about it, she was dialing Trunks' number. She wanted to tell him so badly about what happened but she knew she couldn't... She felt so ashamed. How could she let Yuri of all people make her believe that he was Trunks? What if she told Trunks and he was disgusted? Or angry?

She listed as the phone rang several times but it went to his voicemail. Pan frowned before she realized the time. Almost one in the morning! And then she remembered that when she talked to him earlier, he was exhausted because of early morning meetings and then there was a malfunctioning problem with the newest capsule home. He had said he was going to bed early... He was probably snoring right through he call. He was a rather heavy sleeper and Pan suddenly felt bad for trying to wake him up.

Pan smiled as she listened to his voicemail. It was a simple, 'if you're important, I'll call you back. If not, don't call again.' She wanted to snort, but it was so like him.

After the beep, she cleared her throat. "Hello, Mr Briefs. I really hope I'm important enough for you to call me back," she grinned. "I'm sorry for calling so late, I'm sure you're sleeping after the busy day you had. I just had to share some big news with you. I'm coming home... tomorrow!" She giggled, feeling so happy. She couldn't wait for him to get the message. "I hope your face is one of the first faces I see when I come back so make sure you are there! Love you, Boxer Boy. I hope you're having sweet dreams about me!"

Pan smiled down at her phone as she ended it. She was sure once he woke and heard her voicemail that he'd be calling. Heck, she wouldn't put it past him to fly to Ember and make sure she wasn't fibbing.

Letting out a sigh, Pan fell against her pillows and closed her eyes. She could forget about what happened with Yuri... She would make herself forget. She never wanted to see him, ever again.

Quietly, the balcony door creaked open and a tall figure walked into the room. He walked over to the bed where the teen slept peacefully and watched her for several long moments. Slowly, he pulled out a rag from his back pocket that reeked of chloroform before quickly covering her mouth with it. She panicked at first, only for a few seconds. She tried to tear him off of her, but he was stronger than she ever imagined he could be, which surprised her. She was out in less than a minute.

Yuri stood up straight, smirking as he watched Pan sleeping as if nothing just happened.

"You should have just played along," he told her gently, his voice muffled by the pulled up mask he wore to cover his nose and lips. He sat down on her bed and reached out, stroking her hair and her face. "You... Are so special to me, you know that?" He whispered to her sleeping form. "From the moment I was made, I was made to be with you - I believe that!"

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a pair of scissors and cut of a thick piece of her dark hair. Sighing, he rubbed it against his face and closed his eyes.

"We could have been powerful together..." he said quietly. "I've watched you since you were little. It seemed like fate when you arrived in Ember. I thought... Maybe for once, I would be the lucky one. That I would get what I wanted... But..." he glanced at her, his dark eyes narrowing. "You didn't want me..."

He stood up slowly, and placed the piece of hair that he had cut from her into a safe spot on the pouch around his waist. "If you don't want me... Then I'll just have to make a you that does. One that will be obedient to me, and only me," his voice was growing into a low rumble. "One that will love me and only me! I can do it, you know! I'll make a Pan that's even better than the original!" He chuckled lowly. "She'll be like me..." he placed a hand over the spot where his heart was suppose to be. Instead, all he could feel were machines drumming.

He let out a small sigh. To be an Android with human emotions and no heart... His father really was a bastard for making him that way. His father had once worked with the madman that was named Gero, but shortly before his death, the broke ways... But not before his father stole designs of a special android Gero had in mind... Him.

An android that could grow from a child to a teen and then an adult. His father could have sold the designs and made profit but instead, he decided to build him, himself. It took years before Yuri was 'complete' and even then, he wasn't all the way done. His father had forgotten to give him a heart.

Much like how Gero watched the z-fighters, so did his father. It was an obsession of his to watch the Saiyans, and he made Yuri watch them too. He knew all about them. About their strengths and durability. It wasn't until Pan came along though that Yuri grew increasingly interested in them. He watched her grow through the years until she was eight. That was the year his father had died of a heart virus and he was unable to see Pan anymore.

His father's wife took him in and cared for him then. She didn't know anything about androids but she did know how to be a mother, despite not having any children of her own. They moved to Ember and got their condo with the money his father had saved up. Two years passed quickly, and although Yuri was growing... He didn't feel like a child. Of course, he figured he probably wasn't suppose to. He was an android, not a child. But still... He wanted to feel normal. Then she showed up.

It had to have been the kais giving him their blessing, right? How else could it possibly have happened? For six years he had her so close... And now she was leaving. He would make another her. One that wouldn't leave him...

Yuri reaches into his pocket and pulled out a needle filled with dark red liquid. He stared at it for several seconds before glancing back at Pan. Quietly, he took the cap off the needle and grabbed Pan's limp arm. Skillfully he found a vein and with a hallow breath, he injected her.

"I'm sorry..." he muttered, watching as her breathing became labored and she started to strain and moan in pain. "You should have played along..."

Suddenly, he felt a shift in the air, one that made his stomach turn queasy. He had seen enough of the Saiyans to realize what was happening. He dropped the needle and it fell to the floor as he bolted towards the balcony door. He disappeared just before a panicked Goku entered into the room of a struggling to live Pan.
