Percy POV

The first word Percy thought of when he walked into the apartment he had to live in for at least three more years was homey. That was the words that exactly described the house, or rather, small apartment. It had tan walls with light blue furniture and the lighting set the whole thing off so that it looked larger than the actual miniscule living room, the small dining room was off to the side of the living room and was no bigger. Rather than a tan and blue theme it was a dark red with dark wood furniture. The kitchen was tiny but comfortable with granite countertops and tiled walls that had an italian feel to it.

The woman bustling around the small apartment however was completely flustered. She paced the tiny room furiously as if trying to make a dent in the hardwood floor. When she finally saw Percy she ran over to him and placed her hand gently on his face. Percy flinched back, unused the gentle touch from the strange woman.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, this all must be so strange for you. You look just like your father!" Sally Jackson gushed her face red with embarrassment and the sudden burst of a strong emotion.

Percy opened his mouth to say something but then thought better of it, then reconsidering opened his mouth to say the phrase.

"If I look just like my father... Where is he? And why would you give me up for adoption like that?" Percy's eyes widened as tears came to the woman's eyes.

"Well... you see, this is a long story why don't we sit?"

Percy obliged seeing the fragileness in the older woman's eyes, after a well meant glare at the man who had escorted Percy to the apartment.

"Well, you see, your father was a very important man and I was just me, he felt that it was best that we didn't communicate again for a while. After that, well, I fell into depression, unable to take care of you. I me-met a man," Sally was practically in tears at this point.

"He-he helped me through but-but after he wasn't so kind and he-he abused me and I finally snapped and said some things about him. Th-then he said somethings and-and he asked me, wh-what I loved most i-in life an-and I said 'm-my son' the next day you-you were gone and I didn't alert the police be-because your father wanted to-to keep it a secret so-so I did. I didn't tell him either so-so, I'm sorry."

The woman burst into tears, Percy was surprised that she was able to hold on for so long, the woman didn't look particularly strong-willed. Percy awkwardly patted the woman on the back a few times then started to look around the small kitchen. He realized he was hungry but didn't want to disrupt the woman that he barely knew. Luckily his stomach growled and Sally heard it, she jumped up and brought some cookies, (normal) and a glass of milk. Percy ate a few cookies, (A/N which was ten in Percy's dictionary) drained the glass of milk, then he wiped his milk mustache off.

"Um, Percy I'm guess you want to see your room now?" Sally nervously asked the teenage boy.

"Uh, yeah, I guess?" Percy followed the woman down the short hallway and stopped at the last door. Sally swung the wooden door open revealing a room with light seafoam green walls and a sky blue trim. The bed was a queen size that took up most of the room but left space for a small desk, nightstand and a chest of drawers. Off to the side was a small closet and across the hall was a small bathroom. Sally left Percy on his own as he settled in.

He placed his clothes is the dresser and some of his dress clothes in the closet. Percy organized his books for school on the desk, even though he didn't seem like a very organized person, all those years living with Annabeth had rubbed off on him. Annabeth, the one person he wanted to see.

Percy fell back onto the comfy bed, his head facing the white ceiling, his legs bent over the edge of the bed. Percy liked that the ceiling was a comforting white, he could just imagine times that Annabeth and him had talked and played together without being disrupted. Percy must have fallen asleep because he woke to his name being called.

"Percy! Percy! Percy? Dinner's ready!" Percy was aroused from his sleep. Percy attempted to get out of the bed but in doing so promptly fell back on the bed, and of course being Percy, fell back asleep. He was awoken by a loud banging on his door just a few minutes after he had resumed resting.

Percy jumped out of bed resulting in an epic crash onto the floor. Sally burst into the room finding her son on the floor beside the bed.

"Oh, Oh, Percy are you OK?"

"Um... Yeah, yeah 'm fine, don't worry about me, I've been through worse." Percy soothed, but it seemed to only get Sally more frantic.

"What do you mean by worse? Do you mean Gabe? Did he abuse you? Oh God, he did didn't he?" Sally's eyes were super wide at this point and her whole face was flushed a bright red.

"Uh, yeah, he kinda did but I'm fine now, since I turned 14 he kinda stopped. Well, not really but he toned down the abuse a lot because, well, I guess he realized I was getting older and I wasn't as afraid of him as I used to be." Percy said, looking a bit bashful.

"Well, Percy, I just want you to know that I'm really sorry. Now, we should go eat before the food gets cold."

Percy followed her eagerly always excited for the prospect of food and this dinner did not disappoint, he had barbeque chicken with macaroni and cheese. After dinner he had blue sour straps and went to watch a movie.
