Chapter 12

Its Been Long Enough

We left early the next morning. I heard Rikku telling Yuna and Tidus something.

"I was swimming at the beach and a water fiend attacked me. My brother tried to beat it off with a spell.." thunder cracked and she shook. "But he missed and hit me instead."

"Ouch." I said.

She nodded. When Auron came out he walked out the door. I looked away and Rikku looked at me. I shook my head and we all left. We managed to make it safely across the Thunder Plains but then Yuna stopped.

"Everyone….there's something I must say."

"Can't it wait?"

She said nothing and Auron looked over.

"There."

I looked over and saw a crumbled building. We made our way there and Yuna took a deep breath.

"I have decided to marry." Yuna said.

I immediately looked at Tidus. I knew he loved her.

"I thought so." Lulu said.

"But why? Why'd you change your mind ya?" Wakka asked,

"For Spira's future,…and Yevon's unity."

"YUNA!"

She looked at me.

"Yevon is bullshit!"

Everyone gasped, save Rikku, Auron and Kimhari.

"Do you not understand by now? Sin always comes back! It comes back after the calm every time! The cycle will continue and Seymour is bad news! I do not like him and I sure as hell do NOT want him for a brother in law! That would make me want to disown myself!"

"She is right. Those reasons are not good enough." Auron said.

I nodded and smiled at him gratefully.

"Is it because of Lord Jyscal?" Lulu asked.

"Hey that sphere!" Tidus said.

I looked at Yuna and Auron walked forward.

"Show me!"

"I can't. I'm sorry but…..it is a personal matter. I must speak with Maester Seymour first."

Auron sighed.

"As you wish."

He turned away and I looked at him in disbelief. Tidus got in front of him.

"Wait a minute Auron! You don't care? I mean, you're not gonna stop her?!"

"No I'm not."

I glared at him.

"As long as she is willing to face Sin…all else is her concern. That's a summoner's privilege. As long as she journeys."

Auron looked at me and met my stone cold glare.

"Amahy…."

"Save it! I guess there is a reason why they refer to you as a legendary guardian. You're just like the rest. You don't care what happens at the end. So long as she does what the people want."

Auron's POV

Her words cut through me like a knife. I knew she could tell, and I knew that was what she wanted.

Amahy's POV

"Yuna….just one question. Can't you just talk to Maester Seymour? I mean….you got to marry him?" Wakka asked.

"I don't know." I slapped my forehead. "But I think it is the right thing to do."

I punched the wall of the tower, which made my hand start to bleed.

"You know something Yuna…..I am starting to question whether you know right from wrong anymore." I said.

"Yunie….." Rikku started.

Thunder roared and Rikku looked at the sky.

"QUIET!"

I smiled and shook my head.

"I wish we could help somehow…..someway."

Rikku put her hand on Yuna's shoulders and Yuna covered one of her hands with her own.

"It's okay…I'll be fine."

I looked at Tidus. I walked forward and then put my hand on his back. He looked at me. I nodded and then Auron spoke.

"Next we go to Macalania temple. Yuna can talk with Seymour there. We guardians will wait until they're done and plan our next move. Understood?"

Anger boiled in my blood.

"No! No not understood! I cannot believe you are going to just let this go!"

"ENOUGH!"

I shut my mouth. Auron had never shouted at me before. I glared at him and then turned away.

Auron's POV

I didn't mean to yell at her. I didn't want Yuna to marry a Maester anymore than Amahy did. Yuna was planning something, and she didn't want us to be a part of it. Amahy's hand was still bleeding, but she wouldn't let anyone do anything. She always was a stubborn girl. As we waked into Macalania Rikku seemed relieved. I led them through, only encountering a few fiends along the way. When we came to it I stopped.

"Wait, it's here."

"Do we really have time for this?" Lulu asked.

"It won't take long."

I broke away the log concealing the path and walked through. The others looked amazed and I felt sad.

"This is what spheres are made of."

They looked at the water and then something came out of it. I drew my sword.

"Fiends are also attracted to these places." I said.

Amahy ran up and did a great deal of damage. Tidus, Lulu and I finished it off. I then found the sphere Jecht had left there 10 years ago.

Amahy's POV

I saw Tidus pick up a sphere.

"Whoa this is old! Don't know if you can still play it back ya!" Said Wakka.

"Jecht left it here ten years ago." Auron said.

Lulu gasped.

"Play it back."

Tidus did so and the first thing I saw was my father. It was basically just Jecht taking a video and talking about Tidus and his wife. The next scene was different.

"Auron, could you stand closer to him?"

Auron sighed and then went and stood closer to Jecht. Auron was….sexy. Not that he wasn't good looking now, but…..never mind.

"That should do it!" said father.

"What's the matter!? Afraid I might bite!?"

I smirked.

"Jecht…."

"Hey Braska! You should take one too! It would make a great gift for little Yuna and little feisty Amahy."

I smiled and chuckled. Jecht had always called me feisty.

"I suppose."

"Lord Braska, we don't have time for this."

"Come on man! What's the hurry!?" Jecht shouted.

"Ugh! Let me tell you what the hurry is!"

"Auron!"

I had seen enough. I walked away and climbed up into a tree. I hated my father.

"Amahy?"

I looked down at Auron. The others had left. I jumped down and started to walk away but he took my hand. I did not look at him.

"Amahy he loved you."

I looked down. He started to let go of my hand but I held onto him.

"If he loved me…..why did he leave Yuna and I? He knew if he defeated Sin he would not come back."

Auron turned me to look at him. He wiped away the stray tears and pulled me to him. I clung to his coat and closed my eyes.

"He wanted you to grow safely. That's why."

I slowly looked up at him. His brown eye gazed back at me and I looked at the collar he wore and frowned.

"You know….this makes me mad."

He chuckled and quick as lighting I took it off. I smiled and slowly reached up. I realized what I was doing and pulled my hand back. Auron took my hand put it on his cheek. I was a bit surprised.

"It's alright."

I nodded.

"So can…..will you….."

He nodded and my eyes widened.

"It's been….long enough."

I nodded and leaned forward a bit. He took my face in his hands and pressed his lips to mine. I wound my arms around his neck and he pulled me tighter to him. This was different from our first kiss. It was soft and tender. When we separated I hugged him.

"I love you Auron." I whispered.

He didn't move and he didn't say anything. I pulled back and looked at him. I knew he loved me, and I wanted him to say it.

"Say it Auron. Please."

The others were gone and we were all alone. He touched my face and leaned forward and kissed me.

"I love you Amahy."

I smiled and wound my arms around him.

"It's about time you told me."

He chuckled and I kissed him again. I had waited so long to be able to kiss him freely. Even though I knew the others were waiting for us outside I kissed him longer. Slipping my tongue into his mouth he moaned and I knotted my fingers in his hair.

"Hey guys…WHOA!"

I didn't care that Tidus saw us. I kissed him for a few more seconds before pulling away. Then I smiled and walked away. I winked at Tidus and he looked shocked.

Auron's POV

She walked away with confidence and I smirked.

"Looks like you still got it old man."

I wouldn't let him ruin my good mood. I walked past him and out to the others. Rikku was smiling at Amahy and then she smiled at me. I raised my brow and she winked. Amahy turned and looked at me.

"I love you." she mouthed.

I nodded and we continued on.
