There's going to be some changes to this one. Also expect a few surprise additions to pop up in NYC along with Blaine and Sam. Some story lines will be cut short as they were already on-screen. More of what I will be doing is what we didn't see. Also baby Finchel's sex will be revealed! Kurt was nervous. The first of two guests were showing up today, Sam and Blaine. Of course it wouldn't be a great party without more people special to Rachel so while she was out with Finn he decided to send some text messages. Kurt: So are you going to make it tomorrow? Mercedes: Wouldn't miss it for the world, can't wait to see you all! Getting on a plane in a couple of hours and I got a hotel room with Quinn and Tina. Kurt: Great! See you tomorrow! Can't wait! Kurt: So can I count on Mrs Shue to be here? Emma: Of course! I'm driving in with your mother and Rachel's dads. Kurt: Perfect! See you tomorrow. Kurt: Please tell me you'll be here, it wouldn't be complete without you. Britt: I don't know Kurt, I just don't know if I can see Santana with Dani. She's already mad at Santana because of me. Kurt: Don't worry, Dani will see that you aren't a threat and you'll be great friends. Britt: I don't know, let me think about it Kurt. There that was done. Kurt really hoped that Brittany would come but he also knew that it put Brittany in a hard place. So he decided to talk her up to Dani while they put the finishing touches on the cake which was actually three squares decorated to look like baby blocks. The top block was a cake the color of the baby's gender. "Knock knock I'm here!" Dani said as she came in. "Hey there! Just trying to figure out how to place these cakes." Kurt said "Well it should be A on top." Dani said. "Well duh! Say while I've got you here I've got something to talk to you about." Kurt said "Sure what?" Dani said "Well it's kind of a sensitive topic. It's Brittany-Santana's ex. See she's also a good friend of Finn, Rachel and me as well. I kind of invited her for the party. I know that you are kind of insecure when it comes to her-"Kurt said "Relax. I think it was more that Santana had a history with her, and yes I am insecure when it comes to her but I do have to get over that." Dani said. "So it's ok if she's here tomorrow, that is if she decides to come up?" Kurt asked "Yes-wait she hasn't decided?" Dani asked "Well she's worried about making things hard for you and Santana if she's here." Kurt said. "Ahhh I guess we're more alike than I thought." Dani said. - The cake was put away by the time that Finn and Rachel arrived back from rehearsals, Rachel looked exhausted. "Rachel you look beat. You really should sit down." Kurt said "She overdid it at rehearsals. The director could even see that she was overdoing it and made her sit down on a stool." Finn said. "Ok well you're going to sit down and put your feet up. I have eggplant parmigana cooking up and Blaine and Sam will be here soon!" Kurt said And just then there was a knock at the loft door. Finn opened it to the smiling faces of Blaine and Sam. "We're HERE!" Blaine sang out. "YAY!" Kurt said hugging his fiancé. "So I have dinner going and then I was thinking that we could all go to Callbacks and Blaine could warm up his voice for his audition tomorrow." Kurt said "I don't know the last time I sang there it wasn't so good." Blaine said "Don't worry you'll be great." Kurt said "Yeah but Rachel and I will be sitting it out, she worked a little too hard at rehearsals." Finn said. "Sorry guys. Finn's right, I need to take it easy." Rachel agreed. So after dinner Kurt, Blaine, Sam and Santana headed off to callbacks. "So what should we do?" Finn asked Rachel after they'd left. "Hmmm I can think of a few things." Rachel smiled. "Ohhh really Miss Berry?" Finn said with a grin. - It was late by the time they all came back in and Finn and Rachel were fast asleep. "Ok coast is clear they are out." Kurt said "Ok so tell us who else is coming." Sam asked "Well Emma, Carol, Rachel's dads, Shelby, Mercedes, Quinn, Tina and you guys of course." Kurt said "No Mr Shue?" Santana asked "No he sent his regrets, he's got the kids back at school doing Billy Joel and apparently principal Sue is still giving him a hard time." Blaine said. "Well I guess these things are really for women and gay guys anyway." Santana said. "Hey whoa straight dude over here." Sam said. "Relax Sam, you will have Finn here too." Blaine said "Yeah but he's the dad." Sam pointed out. "Ok, ok. Now Blaine you have the musical number all mapped out right, a special lullabye to sing?" Kurt asked "Well it's kind of a lullabye, it's about dreams. I decided to sing 'River of Dreams' by Billy Joel. We can record it and send it to Mr Shue to show the Glee club members that couldn't be here." Blaine said. "And what are you singing at your audition tomorrow?" Sam asked "Well I finally decided to sing one of the numbers from Newsies after hearing Kurt's great news about his chorus spot. I was hoping I could get the two of you and Finn to sing backup for me?" Blaine said. "Well I'm in. And I know Rachel doesn't have rehearsals tomorrow so Finn should be free as well. I'm sure he'd do it." Kurt said "Of course I'm in dude. But what song is it?" Sam asked again "Open the Gates and Seize the Day. Kurt has the music. And he also has some caps for you and Finn to wear." Blaine said. "Yes looking the part is ultra important. Although he did talk me out of getting you both into knickers, instead we will just do plain pants. Besides I don't think I'd be able to find knickers for Finn." Kurt said. "Now Kurt what about Mercedes, Tina and Quinn?" Santana asked "Ahhh right now they are in a hotel room just a short ways away and they will join us after the audition. Finn is going to take Rachel out for lunch. She knows the 'reveal' will be happening soon but she has no idea that the baby shower will happen too or that there are special guests coming. While they're out everyone will assemble here put up the decorations that are hiding under my bed and when they come back in from lunch SURPRISE!" Kurt said with flourish. "Ok I suggest we all go to bed. Besides aren't we looking at that loft across the hall in the morning?" Blaine asked "Yes we are! We are so lucky that this floor was divided into four large lofts when the building was converted into living spaces. This way we can live across the hall, Sam you are welcome to join us if the modeling works out." Kurt said. "We'll see. There's always a chance." Sam replied. - The next morning across the hall. "So you see it's just like the one you're currently in Mr Hummel." the agent told them. "And we can make any changes we want?" Blaine asked. "Well yes of course, as you see it was left empty and I've been having it fixed up." The agent said. "What about the other two lofts?" Sam asked. "Well they are going to be available about September." The agent said. "And the building is handicap accessible?" Sam asked. "Sam what are you thinking?" Blaine asked "Well actually I know that Artie hasn't found a place yet and I know he wants to live close to school and this isn't too far for him. I was thinking maybe I'd share one of the other lofts with him, if you guys don't mind us crashing here until it's ready?" Sam asked "It's great! It will be the LIMA floor!" Kurt squealed. "And that dark haired young lady, the tall one, asked for one of the other lofts too." the agent said. "Wait-Santana's moving out of the loft too?" Kurt said "Yes Santana's moving out too." Santana said coming into the loft. "Why?" Kurt asked "It's time. Finn and Rachel will be married and their baby will be here by then. They'll need the space and this works. Like you said Kurt we'll all be right across the hall." Santana said. - After the loft viewing Finn, Blaine, Sam and Kurt went off to NYADA to do Blaine's audition. Meanwhile Rachel was at home with Santana. "Rachel I am not going to tell you again. Get over there and get off your feet. I will get you some food and tea." Santana said in her stern voice. "But I'm really well rested now!" Rachel argued. "Don't care. The doctor told you to take it easy whenever you could and I intend to see that happen." Santana said. "Ok. Santana, thanks for being such a great friend. I'm so glad you're here." Rachel said. "Yeah, yeah. Mushy crap." Santana smiled. "So the guys left early and they took Finn." Rachel said "Yeah, Blaine wanted to warble attack some song from Newsies, Kurt had the music and the costumes and they managed to rope Finn and Sam into the act too." Santana said "Well I hope he does good, I know Kurt really is counting on him getting into NYADA but Madame Thibideaux can be really tough." Rachel said. "Not to mention that Cassie bitch who teaches your dance class. She taught our last NYADA extension course-"Santana said "WHOA wait a second, Santana Lopez are you telling me you're taking extension courses at NYADA?" Rachel asked. "Ooops, guess I forgot to mention that. Yes after our night at the ballet I signed up, just for the dance classes but who knows I may try voice too." Santana said matter of factly. "Does that mean you'll be joining us at NYADA?" Rachel asked. "I'm not sure. I really hated that college I went to in Kentucky." Santana said. "Well I'm sure that you'll find your way, I'm so happy you're taking dance classes!" Rachel said. - Kurt was texting with the surprise guests every spare moment that morning. Everyone was there. Carol and Emma had shared a room while Hiram and Leroy had taken another. Quinn, Mercedes and Tina had enjoyed a morning breakfast and were picking up last minute gifts and Brittany had taken a last minute train that morning and was due in just in time. Now to get Blaine into NYADA. "Ok everyone caps on." Kurt said. Finn and Sam put the caps on as Kurt had instructed and Blaine was perfect. "Mr Blaine Anderson?" Madam Thibideaux's voice came from the round room. "Ok we're on." Blaine said and they went out. Kurt, Finn and Sam took their places. "I'm Blaine Anderson and I'll be singing 'Open the Gates and Seize the Day' from Newsies for you today." Blaine said as he gave the music to the musicians that were there already. I applaud your choice. We'll be in touch." Madam Thibideaux said. Once they were out of the round room Kurt was on a mission again. "Ok now we have to get back. Finn you need to get Rachel out for at least an hour. Don't overfeed her." Kurt instructed. "Right." Finn agreed. "Blaine, Sam you two are on decorations. We have to turn the loft into baby wonderland. I'll be putting the cake together and Santana is in charge of getting the guests in before Finn and Rachel return." Kurt said. - When they got back Finn got Rachel out of the loft fast for lunch. Blaine and Sam decorated. Kurt and Dani put the cake together. Santana kept a watch out the window. "Carol, Emma, Rachel's dads and Shelby are on their way up and they have tons of packages!" Santana yelled as she went to the door. "Get them in here!" Kurt said "Hi everyone!" Santana said pulling the door open. "Santana so great to see you! What a quaint loft!" Emma said. "Hello Santana dear, where's Kurt?" Carol said and was pointed toward the kitchen area. "Santana you look lovely where should we put these?" Hiram asked pointing at all of the gifts they were carrying. "Hello again Santana, I hope it's ok that I brought Beth." Shelby said "Yes of course Shelby. Gifts go over there and everyone make yourselves at home." Santana instructed and ran to the window again. "Quinn, Tina and Mercedes on their way up with more gifts." Santana yelled as she went back to the door. "Santana! Oh this place is great!" Mercedes said coming in. "Hello again Santana." Quinn said with a hug. "Wow I am finally in New York and I like it." Tina said. "Ok everyone is here. Finn and Rachel are due in about fifteen minutes!" Kurt said. And then there was a knock at the door. "Who is that? I thought everyone was here." Santana said and opened the door and came face to face with Brittany. "Hi Santana." Brittany said. "BRITT!" Santana said and immediately hugged her. While Dani came forward. "Hi Brittany, I'm Dani." She said shyly. "Dani I've heard so much about you." Brittany said and then pulled her ex's new girlfriend in for a hug. "Ok so that's out of the way, now you two have met." Santana said. "It's ok Santana, relax." Dani said. Santana didn't relax but watched as her new girlfriend and her old girlfriend started talking while she went to watch the window. "Now everyone, Santana has locked the door. Finn and Rachel don't have their keys so Finn will have to knock. When we let them in everyone yell SURPRISE and shower them with the confetti in the slushie cups. It's pink and blue." Kurt instructed. "Oh I forgot my key!" Finn's voice from the other side of the door. "Well then knock silly, I'm sure that someone is in there." Rachel said Kurt shushed everyone and went to the door and opened it. "SURPRISE!" Everyone shouted and showered Finn and Rachel with pink and blue confetti. "Oh my gosh what is this?!" Rachel gasped seeing everyone. "We all wanted to be here so here we are!" Quinn said. "Come sit down mommy to be!" Santana said and put a sash around Rachel that said mommy to be. "Ok so who wants cake first?" Kurt asked. He could hardly wait, containing the secret of what the baby was was too big for him to keep much longer. "CAKE!" Brittany squealed. Kurt and Dani went and got the cake and set it in front of Finn and Rachel. "Usually you cut a wedding cake first but we'll take care of that soon." Finn said. Finn and Rachel took the knife from Kurt and cut into the cake. When they pulled the first piece out it was bright blue. "IT'S A BOY!" Finn yelled triumphant. "Phew now I can breathe, keeping that secret was NOT easy." Kurt said Everyone enjoyed the cake and then it was time for presents. "Ok this one is from Shelby." Santana said handing Rachel a gift. "Ohhhh it's a little silver spoon!" Rachel said "I thought it was perfect." Shelby said. "This one is from Will and I. Since we weren't sure if it was a boy or a girl we hoped this would work." Emma said nervously. "This is wonderful! Thank you so much." Rachel opened the gift, a handmade baby blanket. "That one is from Quinn, Tina and I. We went in together." Mercedes said. "It's so big." Rachel said opening the box. It was a portable playpen. "Oh this one is from Burt and I." Carol said handing Rachel an envelope and a box. "Well, it's-it's a carseat?" Rachel said puzzled because they didn't have a car in New York. "You'll need a carseat to travel on the subway or bus with the baby and it will come in handy when you come back to Ohio. Open the envelope." Carol said. "Oh Carol this is too much." Rachel said. In the envelope was a check for five hundred dollars. "No it's for all the baby stuff you don't get. Crib, clothing, diapers. All of that." Carol said. "Ok now open this one." Hiram and Leroy said. "Oh dads!" Rachel said opening several boxes that included all sorts of baby things. A bouncy seat, a high chair and dozens of newborn sized outfits in greens and yellows. "And now Blaine, Sam and I have a song for the baby!" Kurt said and they launched into "River of Dreams" by Billy Joel and Santana recorded it on her phone. - Once all of the festivities were over and the guests had left Sam went to meet with a modeling agency and Blaine and the rest settled down. "That was wonderful you guys thank you!" Rachel said. "Yeah you guys outdid yourselves, I didn't expect all of those people to be here!" Finn said sitting down next to Rachel. "So how did NYADA go?" Rachel asked. "Well I hope it went well but only time will tell." Blaine said. "Ok I'm going out. Brittany, Dani and I are going to have dinner before Brittany goes back to school." Santana announced. "Whoa Britt and Dani?" Kurt said "Yeah they hit it off so we're going to go out as friends." Santana said heading out. "Well that was unexpected." Finn said "I'll say. But I hope it works out. Santana still needs Brittany in her life as a friend and she seems to be really into Dani." Rachel said. "Well I'm back. That was more than I thought it would be!" Sam burst in from his appointment. "Why what happened?" Blaine asked "Well for starters she said I had a great look but that I need to lose ten pounds so I've got this diet to get started on." Sam said. "Diet? Sam that's crazy. You don't need to diet, you certainly don't need to lose ten pounds!" Rachel exclaimed. "Well how else am I going to land a modeling contract? I don't really have anything else going for me. I mean sure I can sing but I'm not as good as any of you and I certainly don't have brains. My body is the only thing I've got going for me." Sam said. "Sam, you're great just the way you are." Blaine said. "Dude listen to Blaine. It's just crazy to go on some crash diet to lose weight for a modeling job." Finn said. "Sam we have a great photographer working for us at the theater, I bet I could get her to come and do some shots of you and we can get you a steamy portfolio that shows that you don't need to lose weight." Rachel said. "Really? I mean with a portfolio I could actually go out and see more agencies and find out if I really have what it takes. As it is my portfolio only consists of pictures from the Men of McKinley calendars we sold earlier this year to raise money for regionals." Sam said. "Well there's your problem right there, those calendars were good-for a high school fundraiser but they definitely weren't New York modeling agency good. Rachel just did a shoot with Vogue last week for their website and the pictures were fantastic. I mean they take a beautiful person and turn them into an unbelievably beautiful person. Not that Rachel isn't unbelievably beautiful all the time...you know what I think I'll shut up now." Finn said as Rachel swatted at him. "So it's settled, I'll call her and see if she can come over here tomorrow and we'll get this all straightened out before you and Blaine go back to Lima." Rachel said getting up to retrieve her phone from the bedroom. - Bright and early the next morning the photographer showed up. Rachel and Santana helped her set up a backdrop while Kurt and Blaine set Sam up with some wardrobe changes. "You know what this photo shoot needs?" Rachel asked "Music." Kurt said "No, please you promised me it wouldn't be a constant sing a long around here." Santana said, still grumpy because it was early and she'd been out late. "Come on Santana you love it." Blaine said. Rachel started singing "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel and everyone including Finn joined in. Usually he preferred to watch but this time he felt like singing with them. By the time it was all over Sam had a bunch of new pictures to show modeling agents. - That night Finn, Rachel, Santana and Kurt were enjoying a quiet evening in for once. "So does baby Finchel have a name yet?" Santana asked "Well we had discussed a few. Since we know what the baby is now I guess we have to decide. Personally I liked Finn." Rachel said. "And she said no to drizzle." Finn said and got Rachel's elbow to his ribs. "We aren't really sure yet. We will probably just wait and see what he looks like when he gets here." Rachel laughed. "Santana how did things go with Dani and Britt last night?" Kurt asked. "You know it was really nice. I didn't know that both Britt and Dani are cat lovers, I guess I just thought the cat at Dani's place was just a companion. I also didn't know that they both prefer crayons to pens and pencils. But Dani and I are taking this slowly and I guess we're still learning things." Santana said. "Well it sounds like it worked out pretty good. Sorry for not telling you Britt was going to be here." Kurt said. "That's ok, sorry for going Lima heights on you in the kitchen." Santana said. "What when did that happen?" Finn asked. "Right before you two got here for the party. I pulled Kurt into the kitchen and tore into him for not telling me Britt was coming." Santana said. "Oh there's my text. Looks like Blaine and Sam got back ok. Apparently they were on the same flight as Tina. Oh and here's one from Mercedes saying she's got a long layover in Chicago so she's going to see if Mike Chang is free for dinner." Kurt said. "What a busy couple of days." Rachel said and leaned against Finn. "I am with you there. I sure hope the next few weeks are quiet." Kurt said. Finn who had been resting his hand on Rachel's belly looked up startled. "I think the baby agrees with you Kurt!" "Rachel was that the first kick?" Kurt rushed over. "No I've been feeling him for awhile now but Finn hasn't been able to yet. Guess he's going to be a quarterback." Rachel said. "You do know the quarterback doesn't really kick?" Finn said. Everyone laughed. "Finn remember what you wanted to name Beth?" Santana asked "Hey Drizzle was definitely better than Puck's first suggestion-Jackie Daniels!" Finn scoffed. "Well whatever we decide it will be fitting. Something that he can grow up with." Rachel said and yawned. - Ok readers that's it for this chapter, I am currently working on the next chapter and should have it done soon.
