"So, you guys got any stories or anything?" Johnny Cage's voice broke a long awkward silence that had overcome the group who were sitting on a sandy beach, watching a large dancing flame in the fire pit. Everyone looked over at Johnny.

"You don't want to hear my stories." Kenshi said with a dark tone. He lowered his head to feel the warmth of the fire hit his face. Johnny looked strangely at Kenshi, and then turned to Sonya.

"What about you? Care to tell me what the deal is with this Mavado guy? Is he an ex-boyfriend or something?" Johnny asked taking off his sunglasses. Sonya frowned.

"He is not an ex-boyfriend!" Sonya sneered. "He is a member of a drug, and weapons cartel known as the Red Dragon!"

"The Red Dragon, huh?" Kenshi spoke. Sonya turned, and looked at Kenshi awkwardly.

"What?, Do you know them?" She asked looking interested.

"A friend of mine use to run with them long ago. Dangerous group of people you're dealing with there Sonya." Kenshi explained cautiously.

"What makes this Mavado your target? Is he their leader?" Kung Lao asked.

"No, the only thing known about the Red Dragon's leader is that he goes by the name of Daegon. He has no trail. Mavado however is thought to be Daegon's second in command, and deals directly with him. If I capture Mavado then the Special Forces can force him to give up Daegon's location. We capture Daegon, and we bring down the whole gang." Said Sonya.

"You better hope nobody else gets to him before you do." warned Johnny. Sonya sighed.

"I know. I wish Raiden would've just told me his position to begain with." Sonya breathed deeply. Soon after she spoke, there was a loud boom, and a bright flash of lightning. Raiden had appeared with two men standing on either side of him.

"Nice place you got here mate." Said Kano, looking around the beach.

"I'm glad we could come to an agreement." Raiden said calmly, walking away from Kano and Kabal.

"Yeah, As long as you keep your promise we'll keep ours." Kano said, eyeing each person around the fire pit.

"I am a man of my word. Aid us and you may take anything you wish from Shang Tsung's palace as an award." Raiden said, standing in front of his team of fighters. Kano and Kabal stood next to each other awkwardly. Sonya was glaring a hole into the duo.

"Nice to meet you!" Johnny Cage said standing up quickly. He walked over to Kabal and stuck his hand out for him to shake. Kabal hesitated, but shook Johnny's hand.

"Name's Johnny Cage. Maybe you've heared of me?" He asked with a nudge.

"You're that guy from Time Smashers right?" Kano asked, running his tounge through his mouth.

"Yeah, I was Detective Vogel!" Johnny said smiling. Kano laughed.

"God, I hated that movie." He said still laughing. Johnny's smile faded. He nodded and sat back down by the fire.

"So what is it you guys do?" Asked Kung Lao.

"We're kind of like traders. We exchange goods for coin." Kano said smiling at Kabal.

"More like thieves who rob the innocent for their own gain." Sonya growled.

"Now now, Listen Miss Blade. We don't rob the innocent. We're not the Red Dragon. We steal from the higher ups, and the corrupt. We're sorta like the Robin Hoods of this world." Kabal said calmly.

"Stealing is stealing at the end of the day. You're just as bad as the Red Dragon in my book." Sonya was furious. Kano and Kabal looked insulted.

"Sounds like you need to get your book checked. Kabal and I have been clearing the streets of the Red Dragon, which is more then what could be said about Jackson Briggs and his Special Forces unit!" Kano yelled hotly. Kabal tried to calm him down.

"Why you son of a bitch!" Sonya shouted standing to her feet instantly.

"This will stop right now!" Thundered Raiden's voice. Everyone turned to look at him.

"It matters not what issues you have with each other. What matters most is the protection of Earthrealm. I will not let this team crumble to dust from the inside. You will learn to work with each other without acting like fools. Do you all understand?" Raiden demanded. Sonya looked back at Kano with murderous intent. She surpisingly stuck her hand out for Kano to shake. Kano laughed slightly. He slowly took Sonya's hand and shook it. Sonya pulled away right after.

"Good. Now it is time for the second phase of the tournament. Sub-Zero has already reached his second fight location on his own. More of you are set to fight in mere minutes. Kung Lao, Kano, and Johnny Cage. You are to come with me. The others will remain here until I return to take you to your fights." Raiden explained. Johnny, Kano, and Kung Lao all stood around Raiden. Johnny looked at Sonya.

"Don't get killed while i'm away baby." Johnny called out as he put his shades back on. Sonya looked at Johnny with gritted teeth. Johnny raised his eyebrows, and turned quickly to Raiden who teleported them away in a flash.

"Some character that guy is." Kabal said joining Kenshi, and Sonya at the fire pit. Kenshi smiled.

"I think he is pretty funny." He said warmly.

"You're the only one." Sonya said shaking her head.

"Sorry about Kano by the way. He gets hot headed pretty easily." Kabal said nicely to Sonya who didn't pay him any attention. After a minute of silence Kabal looked over at Kenshi, who had begain cleaning his glowing blade.

"Impressive sword you got there." Kabal said admiring the blade.

"Got a thing for swords have you?" Kenshi asked smiling up at Kabal.

"Yeah, I carry a pair of my own, but nothing like you got." Kabal said sitting next to Kenshi.

"Careful not to touch it. Last guy other then me who did doesn't know his current location right now." Kenshi laughed.

"What do you mean?" Kabal asked backing a little bit from the blade.

"This sword contains the spirit of my ancestor who goes by the name of Sento. Let's just say anyone other then a member of my family will not be welcomed by her. She will blind you if you grab the sword. Much like she did to me."

"Wait, I thought she was your ancestor? Why would she blind you? Kabal asked looking at Kenshi's red blindfold.

"That's a long story that I would not like to revisit. Let's just say she felt horrible by her mistake, and decited that she would guide me throughout my quest for revenge." Kenshi said slowly placing his sword on his back.

"How does she guide you?" Kabal asked. Kenshi looked as though he was about to tell him, until he hesitated. He looked down at the sand, and then slowly back at Kabal.

"You'd think me crazy if I told you." Frowned Kenshi. Sonya marched over to Kenshi, and Kabal.

"I need you two to help me get fire wood." She said angrily. Kenshi held his hand up to shush her. He turned his head slightly.

"What? What is it?" Sonya asked turning to the wooden area next to them. Kabal stood up, and moved closer to the woods. He peeked his head past a tree to see if he could see anything. Kenshi stood up and held his sword in both hands.

"I don't see anything." Kabal said turning back to Kenshi, and Sonya. He turned back to the woods to see a strange looking figure off in the distance. He squinted his eyes to try and focus on the figure. He spotted a green glowing ball flying steadily at him. He stared at the green orb in surprise.

"Oh Fuck!" Kabal shouted as the ball dissapeared into his chest. He was sent flying from the impact. He flew over the fire pit, and both Sonya and Kenshi ducked under his flying body. He landed onto the sandy ground with a thud. He laid motionless. Sonya turned back at Kabal, while Kenshi focused on the now strange sounds coming from the woods. A red dressed figure came floating out from the woods. His head was wrapped in black mummy tape while his decaying body was surrounded by a green aura. Sonya turned back to the figure and stared at it in horror.

"What are you doing? This isn't a fight location!" Sonya bellowed.

"He doesn't care, Sonya." Kenshi said warningly.

"We take him together. Move!" Sonya shouted. She sprinted at the being and tried to tackle him. The being dodged her, and forced her away with green mist that came from his hand. She landed on a hard on the sand. The impact knocked all the air from her lungs. She looked up to see Kenshi battling the monster carefully. He had somehow blocked the enemies green mist with the blade of his sword. Kenshi's blue orb around his sword had changed to a musky green. The sword was dislodged from his hands and thrown off in the distance. Kenshi himself was then thrown head first into a tree. The impact had knocked him out. The monster then turned itself around to look at Sonya. Sonya slowly stood up and brushed the sand from her body.

"What are you?" She asked balling her fist up, and placing them in front of her face.

"We are called Ermac. Created by Shao Kahn to esure that no Earthrealm warriors leave this island alive!" The being calling itself Ermac managed to say.

"Sounds like Shao Kahn's gonna be dissapointed." Sonya said confidently. She started sprinting once again at Ermac. She dodged his green orbs and caught up to him. She caught his jaw with a hard roundhouse kick that rocked the mummy. He then dodged a pair of strong puches and pushed Sonya back. Ermac send more mist from his hand. It wrapped it's way around Sonya's waist and lifted her into the air. He raised his hand up and down causing Sonya to be bashed against the sand floor over and over again. He then threw her again. She rolled to her feet, and pointed her wrist at Ermac. Pink energy rings flew from her wrist coms. Sonya watched as the energy rings bounced off of Ermac's aura causing no damage. Ermac was slowly floating torwards Sonya, who still was sending energy rings his way. Ermac gave a wheepy laugh as he wrapped another orb around Sonya. He suspended her into the air.

"We will enjoy the sound of your neck breaking!" Ermac growled. He flipped Sonya over so that her head was pointed at the ground. Sonya was trying her hardest to break free of Ermac's grasp to no avail. Sonya then heard Ermac scream in pain. She saw the end of a curved blade poke through Ermac's stomach. It slid out in an instant. Ermac's green orb had vanaished, as did his grip on Sonya. Sonya managed to roll to stop from landing on her head. She looked on as Kabal was now face to face with an enraged looking Ermac. His two black hookswords in his grasp. Ermac looked down at the hole in his abdomen. His green aura was leaking through it. Sonya pulled a wire from her utility belt. She wrapped it around Ermac's neck tightly. Ermac didn't even struggle. Kabal stared into his glowling green eyes. They became brighter, and brighter the tighter Sonya pulled. Ermac shouted extremely loud. He then exploded causing his body to turn into a green mist. The impact from the explosion sent both Kabal, and Sonya flying. Kabal landed in the water close to the shore, while Sonya was knocked out from hitting her head on a flat rock on the beach. The green mist made it's way slowly back to the woods in which it would dissapear.

"Sonya, you okay? Sonya?" Sonya opened her eyes to see both Kabal, and Kenshi standing over her. She sat up quickly, looking around.

"Relax. He's gone." Kabal said putting his hand out for Sonya to grab. Sonya took his hand and got to her feet.

"What the hell was that?" Sonya asked still in disbelief of what had transpired.

"No idea. This island's got some strange fucks running around though." Said Kabal.

"Did you kill it?" Sonya asked looking at Kabal's hooksword that was covered in green muck.

"No it's still alive." Kenshi said holding his sword.

"What makes you think that? I stabbed the fucker pretty good." Kabal asked turning to Kenshi.

"It's just what my head is telling me." Kenshi said shaking off the conversation.

"I did get bashed head first into a tree though." Kabal laughed at Kenshi's words.

"What the hell was that thing even doing here? This isn't a fight location!" Sonya bellowed in anger.

"I wonder if Shang Tsung is playing dirty?" Kabal whispeared.

"It's the only way he plays. Maybe we should go speak to him." Kenshi said lowering his eyebrows.

"We can't, Raiden told us to stay here." Sonya sighed. Kenshi begain walking from the camp.

"What the fuck are you doing? Did you not just hear me?" Sonya called out to Kenshi.

"I'll be back here before he will." Kenshi called back. Kabal looked at Sonya.

"We can't let him go alone can we?" He asked smiling. Sonya sighed, and shook her head. She begain to follow Kenshi along with Kabal. They all could see Shang Tsung's palace off in the distance.
