"How was your first school day, sweetie?"

Isaac was in the car still as Mary asked. His legs shook in the air as he sat alone in the back seat.

"Good. It was good!"

He didn't really have the analytic power to describe her his day, so instead, he let her ask him about it. It would be easier like this, and even Samson could agree this time.

"Made any friends?"

Mary felt a bit guilty from asking this. She knew he wouldn't have many children to talk to...it was a special class, after all. But asking never hurt, wasn't that right?

"I don't know, but the others were really nice"

"What about the teachers, deary? Did they treat you well?"

"Nice too. I like them, they were helping everyone"

This took a big burden off the shoulders of Mary and Richard. They were really worried about wheter the caretakers would do a good job or not... if Isaac said they were good, chances are they were.

"Great to hear, dear! Great to hear!"

The rest of the way home was silent.

I will want to play now now and now, do jump out let me waiting so not I need to go play play play Isaac let's play

Cain was quite the reckless one. One that loved playing, liked to give out money it always wound up hoarding and most of all, liked to have people to play with.

That was why Isaac had to fight so much against the boy swelling with excitement and need to take over right now. It was a bar, a little place, yes, but one that made Cain immediately imagine his game of guess the cup being played by many, one after the other, friends in laughter and fun.

Isaac disagreed and Judas screeched out about the sound, the multitude and the fact they didn't know what kind of textures they would meet. Maggy worked on calming the biblical traitor down to the best of her abilities, but regardless of how much Judas would freak out, Cain still had a plan planted firmly in his being.

"I can't just leave! We are going to get lost! Besides, it's gonna get dark soon..."

"I will guide you I can find my way around, please, please, let's play, Isaac! I will be good after that, I swear, please, please!"

The boy sighed. It was no use, was it?

"Just don't get in much trouble."

And he let himself slip away, to let the excited boy take over his body, his mind and his actions.

Cain blinked for a bit, trying to get used to the sudden light of the world before covering his left eye. The other children made annoyed noises as their brain got a tad less working, giving up on the optical nerve for as long a Cain was in command.

The boy stumbled over to the wardrobe, where his things were now neatly organized and took his bag of things from the corner. Hiding it was much less of a hassle now... he could always drop some clothes over it.

Cain put his hand in the bag, searching for his eye patch. Dress...wig...ouch, a blade! And...ah! There is was!

Black, old, but perfectly good. He put it on, feeling much more at ease, before getting to look for the little golden anklet, the one to mark his lucky foot. Ah, there it was... old, rusty, the paint slowly coming off, but just as important as always...

Missing letters, unreadable message on the reddened surface. It didn't matter all that much.. he put it in place and looked for the final things he needed before he left.

Three cups, skulls hastily drawn across them. His trusty ones...the ones he and only he could drain of goods.

And now...

He sneaked out of the room, Mary an Richard were downstairs... good. He sneaked into their room, looking for some money. It didn't have to be a lot. Just some...

Oh! Jackpot!

On Richard's pants, the wallet. He took two ten dollar bills, enough to start and put it on his pocket. Now he had to leave. Cain sneaked downstairs, seeing his new parents were in the living room. This was not good...he couldn't leave through the door.

Silly head, use the window

Maggy giggled to him, shaking her head. Cain was as reckless as he was easily distracted and naive...

"Shh...I ain't dumb!"

He silently got to the kitchen and used a chair to clumsily get out through the window, falling in the soft grass with a soft thud. He shook the grass of himself and started to run, excited to be out, on his way to have fun.

He was almost run over twice in his cheerful skipping over the city, accompanied by the terrified sounds of all others, who clustered together, trying to get the cacophony of background sound away from their main sensory processing center, to avoid Cain from completely melting in the middle of a street.

Fifteen minutes of running and there he was. A little clock told him it was 6 and 23 PM. Not too bad... some people were already in the bar, drinking and laughing. Cain made his way in, gaining a few curious stares as he set up his little game.

The owner of the bar sighed. Kids these days... as long as no one tried to offer the kid alcohol, he supposed he couldn't do much.

Cain, we can still turn back...

the boy shook his head, finishing the set up of the game and standing on a chair, an announcer for his gambling game.

"Hello! Are you guys up for getting some money?" He laughed. "I dare you to a game of find the money! Three cups, ten dollars of mine! Any amount of yours. You find it, you win it!"

He announced, happily daring the men and women in there to try beating him.

The first opponent. Still mostly sober, giving out a dollar to try out, thinking it was some free drinks for him.

Cain's victory.

Next one.

Cain's victory.

Next one...their victory. But this couldn't stop the game!

Soon enough, as the money became more iin quantity, more people were there to play. The other children shivered and trembled, trying to just keep the sound away from Cain right now, afraid of what would happen if he got overwhelmed in the middle of so many people...

Laughter, obscenities screamed, money leaving and coming, happy drunkards losing and winning money for their little host, a merry, even if dangerous game, where anyone who got violent had to be dragged away.

The bar's owner was actually quite impressed and even happy... more people drinking meant more money for him, after all.

Cain laughed, smiling broadly at his work, hands scrambling the cups masterfully, showing the real location of the money at each wrong guess, giving it away merrily for the lucky ones...

The lucky foot still shone in the hazy light of the place.

That which is lost to become eaten

His head was blank, full of the game, full of the merry faces, bright colors, but deaf. Deaf to everything and half blind.

It was needed.

He couldn't melt down. He couldn't loose his control over the crowd. He was the host, he couldn't let go of his position.

Hands around his wrist, pulling him up, pulling away. Everything disappeared in a mess of colors, the children losing control for a second and suddenly, sound.

Screaming, screaming, laughing, laughing, broken glass, steps, breathing, drinking, smoking, living, living, living, living, volume all the way up and everywhere. He was being dragged. Away.

The game was overtaken, his cups broken under enraged feet.

And he was out of the bar, dragged in a car.

Cain started to cry and the warm embrace of Mary met him as Richard, the one to drag him out of the hell of sound, got in the driver's seat, trembling.

"D-dear...p-p-please do-don't even do that again..."

They both cried in fear, confusion, Cain retreating to the back of the mind to get his senses in place and leaving the terrified Isaac to take place.

Life was not a game. Life was not a thing to gamble.

But none of the terrified children could understand any of that, simply letting themselves be hugged by the familiar woman, drown in the feeling of being finally safe.
