RED TSIRNGS OF FATE

"Seriously!" BlackStar declared, "I GIVE UP!"

"BlackStar please stay calm!" Kidd sighed, slightly frustrated as well.

Sidd, BlackStar and Kidd were in hiding around the bookstore. Marie was at the large store window looking out for Maka behind the sign that read 'CLOSED please come back later'.

The plan was in action. Sidd, BlackStar and Kidd were to hide around the bookstore while Marie invited Maka in, when the boys drug Maka to sleep Tsubaki was to drive up to the shop quickly as they get into the van and drive back to the base.

There at Headquarters, a very spacious white room had been prepared for Maka's capture.

In the room awaited stein, Liz, Patty and Azusa to follow through with what was necessary.

They also had cameras setup at the bookstore to feed back to the rest of the team.

If Maka won't cooperate during her torture for answers about the black blood then spirit will be used on her as bait.

Lord death had also offered the warden of the federal prison a generous amount of cash to use Soul if necessary so Soul was free under their supervision until the investigation was over.

It seemed simple enough but one mistake could mean anything.

"You know, the only problem with this plan, Sidd, is that ALBARN ISN'T COMING! SHE'S AN HOUR LATE WHAT MAKES YOU THINK SHE'LL STILL SHOW!"

"Shut-up you blue monkey!" He shouted as a reply.

Sidd sighed, already feeling the cramps creep up on his back from the small hiding spot tucked between the wall and a bookshelf.

"Shhhh! BlackStar! Agents be quiet she's here," Whispered Kidd from on top of a bookshelf in a dark corner.

Sidd and BlackStar looked to the entrance to see Marie glance their way before, closing her eyes gently.

Kidd, with his gun, pointed toward the door.

They were all ready for her.

On cue, the doorbell chimed signalling someone's arrival.

In this case the arrival of their victim, Maka Albarn.

Sidd smiled, his nerves aching to attack but instead he settled for pouring the sleeping drug onto the cloth in his gloved hand. He looked over at BlackStar crouched underneath a large bean bag in the children's reading section and nodded slightly.

BlackStar smiled and pulled out a large brown sack, ready for action. BlackStar nodded at Kidd who nodded at both the other two men before all three of them returned their eyes to the two women greeting each other.

'She looks exactly as she does in the profile, this has to be the victim,' Sidd thought to himself, making sure he didn't repeat one of his past mistakes and captured the wrong person.

"Maka!" Marie smiled and chirped at the small blonde. "Oh sweet heart it's been quite a while!"

Maka laughed half-heartedly but looked away from Marie's, face.

She didn't want her to know she was crying.

"Hi Miss Marie!"

Marie's smile dropped, "Maka, have you been crying?"

No reply as Maka just looked at her own feet.

"Sweetie? What's wrong?" Marie whispered sadly.

Maka couldn't look her in the eyes so instead settled for looking around the room.

"Oh it's nothing Miss Marie I just-,"Maka cut herself off, frowning.

All the agents in the room stiffened.

Maka curiously stepped forward to observe something that looked slightly off in the corner of the room…

It looked slightly like a figure but it was too dark to tell…

Maka slowly stalked closer to it, forgetting about Marie.

This slowly left Marie with a panicked look, 'She figured it out!' Marie screamed in her head.

Instead of screaming in alarm, the pregnant woman quietly rush toward the window and signalled for Tsubaki.

Tsubaki had been down the street, parked slightly down the curb a bit. As the Japanese woman saw the distressed signal she quickly turned on the engine and stepped on the pedal, stopping right next to the bookstore door and squinted to see what was happening behind the tinted windows.

Kidd sweat dropped from where he was perched, where Maka was approaching slowly.

'Shit, Shit, Shit! SHIT! What do I do!' he freaked out, thinking to himself.

He held out the Taser gun, ready for anything.

"W-What is that? It look-," Maka was cut off mid-sentence by a cloth coming into contact with her mouth.

'What?!'

Her eyes widened in alarm as Kidd jumped down from the corner and BlackStar came rushing with the bag.

'What's going on!' She thought.

Maka held her breathe.

She wriggled and struggled to get out of Sidd's grip.

Instead she pushed backwards sending him walking backwards into the bookshelf leaving her and opening to turn slightly and knee him in the balls.

"Arrrggh!" Sidd yelped, kneeling down to hold his tender spot. "UGGGGHHHH! FUCK THAT HURT!"

Maka took the chance to breathe and get away, she knew something was wrong, even an idiot in this situation could tell.

She ran back to the front of the shop and remembered that Miss Marie was in danger as well.

"Miss Marie, Get out of here!" Maka yelled while running, only to be stunned by the woman herself blocking the exit with a small gun in hand.

Marie's eyes swelled with tears, "I-I'm sorry Maka."

Marie held her gun firm as Maka's shocked expression shattered her heart.

Maka spun on her heel only to see Kidd with yet another gun pointed in her direction. To his left was her friend BlackStar with a large brown sack.

"Kidd…Blackstar…?" Maka's eyes watered, lips quivering as she spoke.

Kidd and BlackStar stood strong against her raspy hurt voice. It cracked with every word.

"Marie…?" Maka spun again to face Marie who only held the gun firmer. Maka shook her head, "…W-What's going on…"

Sidd took the opportunity to shove the drugged cloth into Maka's quivering mouth from behind again as Kidd regrettably handcuffed her thrashing hands.

Maka held her breathe as she suddenly spotted a camera with a red light. Near her face on the desk.

It beamed straight at her.

Was this an investigation?

A kidnapping?

She was so confused…

Her head spun…

As Maka screamed and thrashed she felt the desire to breathe burn in her throat as she stared dead centre down the screen of the camera with fierce, watery, betrayed eyes.

The desire grew too strong and Maka breathed only to feel the drug go straight to her head and Make her dizzy…

The cloth was pulled away in time for her to rasp something out at the camera before BlackStar pulled the sack over her head.

The world went dark in her eyes, grey figures and outlines were only slightly visible through the sack fabric she was swept up in…

Darkness surrounded her…

But the red strings shone brighter than ever…

Meanwhile on the other side of the camera, Spirit, Stein, Liz, Patty, Azusa, Lord Death and Soul stared at the screen connected to the camera.

The camera feed back to the team a world swirling in black and white yet suddenly, Maka's eyes glowed emerald. They defied the settings of technology.

Her eyes widened just before the sack went over to cover her from view.

"Why are her eyes shining green when the camera is in black and white?" Patty asked innocently.

Stein frowned, "I don't know," he hated not knowing. But there was something that he did know. He knew she could see something that they couldn't.

Soul shook as shivers ran down his spine.

He could feel her fingers on his back, tracing his whip marks ghostly.

Her eyes were staring into his eyes.

Her lips were quivering with fear.

Her pupils burned directly down the barrel of the camera, menacing and fierce, the room fell silent and stein replayed the footage and cranked up the volume full blast to hear her rasp out "…h-how could you…" with those frightening dead sharp emerald orbs.

The capture had been deemed successful but only just.

They were lucky. A lot had gone wrong, Maka had realised she was being watched and they weren't supposed to let that happen.

After being dismissed, Soul still didn't want to speak to his old team mates, his best friends.

Liz and Patty had looked away in shame when they greeted him with no reply.

They had betrayed him and he was not going to just let it go.

They through him in prison and left him to rot.

Little did he know that was the exact opposite…

They betrayed him, just as they were betraying Maka.

…He was not allowed to see her…

They had told him he was not to leave the room.

It was just like prison, no different. He was locked in and left there.

Those eyes.

They haunted him that night.

Her eyes.

Those strong burning jade eyes. He couldn't stop thinking about her…

"How many times has she crossed your mind?" A familiar voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

Soul turned with surprise to find his old best friend and best partner in crime leaning on the door frame, arms crossed. Smiling at him. A towel was wrapped round his neck, he must've just taken a shower after the mission.

"Once…"

BlackStar chuckled gently, "Haha Soul, you are just so weird sometimes. And here I though my best bud fancied the bookworm."

Soul smiled, a scinere smile.

Something he hadn't done for so long. BlackStar was still the same. He didn't know how long he could hold this act of un-forgiveness.

"She's crossed my mind once, BlackStar…cause she's never really left it…"
