CHAPTER TWELVE
The Room of Windows
"Hey! Stop! Stop!", Syaoran screamed while floating around me in circles.
"Okay so now you all can take a break!", Stephany said loudly on the mike with a big smile.
I sighed. I carelessly folded my Pink and Green super long ribbons around the glitter pencils and turned around to see, where my friends were basking in the warm November sun. We have just a week left for our final performance day and we're still very bad at making our ribbons float gently in the mid air, creating loops and graceful moves. Now, if i had been responsible for this ribbon dance, it would have been the best dance ever performed!
Nah, drop the idea,I'm too lazy for that.
"Can you please quit! I'm not being able to fly around! Once i get hit by your stick, and then the next moment your partner's ribbon strangles me to death!", he floated up and down before me cross legged.
"Even I wish I could. But we both have to bear this just for another week. Oy! What are you guys discussing?" I hopped like bunny.
"Emily! Come sit! We're having a very important conversation!" Sabrina invited me to sit beside her.
Sabrina's my buddy. She's very nice and sweet and awfully intelligent. Her curly hair booms down like a tropical canopy and her spectacles show her favorite color, red.
"So what's the secret meeting about?", without even letting me complete my last word, Nirvana's curiosity burst out like a Super-Nova.
"I'm wondering, whether to wear my mom's black Saree and the pearl set with the killer heels, or the new net Saree i bought this week with the silver trinklets for the farewell!"
"Farewell? Oh yeah its just one month away!"
"I'm toh gonna buy my Saree on the day before the farewell. I'll buy a simple one", Daisy added her opinion.
"I'm gonna be super-sexy in black and red!", Nikki declared with a chuckle.
"Hey! Even I'm wearing red!", Sabrina got exited.
"Pfft! What a useless topic!", Syaoran hissed.
"We've already bought our own, mine is Pink and Black and her's is Purple and White." Rita said pointing at her twin sister.
Ruby gave a light smile and rubbed her cheeks, "Mine is too simple"
"Girls, what type of Saree should i wear?" Daisy's foolery blurted out.
"You will look pretty in a multi-coloured Saree, with huge fluorescent flowers, you know... They're now in fashion!" Nirvana started bullying, as usual.
That reminded me, even I haven't thought about it. Well, truth to be spoken, i did think about it a couple of times... But there are so many colors to chose from and I can't make important decisions easily! I wouldn't want to look too glittery that they could make the disco lights out of my Saree. At the same time i wouldn't want it to look too simple that i might seem like a sad single widow. My brain couldn't take any of these color catastrophes so I pulled my cheek and screamed, and believe me, a sweat really dropped down my friends' heads.
"Oh! Emily! I needed to talk to you."
"Eh?... Why?", I stammered.
Oh no! Now what? When she says 'talk to you' it probably means about Ron! What do I do?
She got up, took my hand and pulled me out of the conversation that I suddenly had lots of interest in, for a reason.
We climbed up the everlasting stairs, that seemingly felt short today, to our own secret cozy place.
"You know... Ron and i had a fight, again"
She turned her face away from me. I felt a chill slither down my spine. The cold feeling of guilt started wavering in my heart.
Syaoran whispered, "Emily we need to go".
" This time he started it! Hmph! His point of conversation was not even valid!", the anger in her voice slowly subsided.
"I think I'll have to let go after all... Maybe he's not meant for me. But... I feel so happy when i'm around him..."
I couldn't find a word to speak.
"He can go to hell! What i'm really angry about is how such a seemingly good and innocent person can be such a cunning bitch! Tried to act sweet and caring and all, but i should have known better!"
Yeah... She is right... He completely hid his true self that was evil all this time. I finally found words to speak. I would comfort her, then advise her to move on and then predict that the future would solve everything, and things would be back to normal.
I heard Syaoran again, "Emily get out of here."
I saw her clenching her fist and she turned around with eyes full of tears.
"And... I trusted you! And all this while you were playing with my emotions!"
"What!?"
"Don't pretend. Your game is over! I know you knew about him since class 8! Ron told me everything yesterday."
My mind was having a tough time just to do 2+2=4, her words puzzled me like a maze with no end.
"Wh... What?"
"Emily! We need to go!"
"Don't you get it? No need to PRETEND Emily! Everything is OVER!" she ran down the stairs.
"Emily! Get out!"
"Nirvana please!" I ran behind her.
"Emily!"
Suddenly i heard a sharp sound like glass cracking and i turned around. I saw cracks deepening in the huge glass windows before me. I couldn't move. I was trapped somewhere between time and space.
The entire window broke and glass shattered down into a thousand pieces. I couldn't think of anything.
"Shield!"
I fell down to my knees. Two girls came running down hearing the noise. Miu supported me by the arm and helped me to get up.
I gingerly limped down the stairs in silence and left the precious place which had nothing else left but the past memories of a broken friendship.
Miu's friend stood confused beside the broken glass pieces looking at the place where I fell which now had a circle, where not a single piece of glass had fallen.
"Emily. Please stop crying", Syaoran sat beside me.
The lights around me gave out a radiant warmth but my heart was feeling like sharp ice within me. Diwalis are never good for me, no more was this one.
Somewhere in the distance a fire cracker burst and sparkled in the dark sky.
"How did he know?"
"Must have seen your face when you ran into him and recognized you when you met him in the mall."
"No wonder he looked as if he saw a ghost. Oh god! This is all my fault!"
"Wait what? Now this is getting too dramatic ok? Your story is supposed to be a ROMANTIC COMEDY! Now stop crying or else you'll get all dehydrated, you've been crying throughout the day. Tell me, if she really was your true friend, would she believe Ron? She'd have confidence in you! But she doesn't so she's not your true buddy! But i know you are not wrong. See? Now am not I your best pal?"
I looked down at my feet and tried thinking about it again. He is kinda right, she should have believed me, and its not entirely my fault. If I hadn't gone to the past, I would have never known about him. I'll just have to trust myself a little more from now on. I looked up at him and gave my 'Thank You' smile.
"Arigatou Syaoran-kun", I winked.
The glow of the lights lightened up the blush that came up into his cheeks. He must have remembered Sakura.
"Be... Besides there's something we need to talk about..." he hesitated.
"What's that? I know! My farewell Saree! You're so caring Syaoran!"
He gave one light smack on my head.
"Stop dreaming. I wanted to talk about what happened today", he tune got a bit serious now.
"Did the glass break because of my power?"
'"No... It wasn't you. I sensed something there. Something's not right. You better be careful. But there's a good news, you finally know how to summon the power of the cards."
"Summon powers?"
"You did use The Shield back there."
"Shield? Oh you mean you were not the one who did magic out there? Wow! I'm proud of you Emily!", I laughed like a demon king and patted my shoulder.
"But you still need to learn more... Summoning The Elements can be a tough job."
"Don't worry! I'll work hard and learn how to control them too! You Will teach me right? Syaoran-sama?"
"Yea...Yeah."
"Oh! Can I use a card?"
"Sure..."
"Okay! Time to have fun!"
I ran inside the room took my cards and went to the terrace. I picked up a card closed my eyes and kissed it.
"Syaoran, i really wanted to do this"
"Eh... Wh... What?"
"O card of clow, don't let me down this time."
I couldn't sum up a cool incantation because i was too exited to see what would happen next. I'll make sure to write one down tomorrow and memorize it!
"Lend me your wings... Fly!"
At first nothing happened and i felt like complete idiot, but then slowly the ground under me started glowing. I felt as if my powers grew out from my feeble back into a pair of wings. Just to test if they really were there, I touched them. Oh the wings were so soft and fragile. The feathers gave out a mystical glow. I was so happy to get them that i started doing a victory dance.
"Alright lets fly!" i jumped over the railing.
"Eh? Wait! I don't know how to..." i went flying down like a sinking ship falling from the sky.
"Emily!"
He caught my hand just in time.
"Ha! Right on time! How do I use this thingy?"
"Just about flying"
"Okay! Let us fly ya i ya i ya i yai, to the golden sky!"
Slowly slowly i felt my pair of new wings fluttering and pulling me higher. I kept on looking at the flowers in the ground as they grew smaller and smaller as the distance between the ground and us kept on increasing.
"Wuhoo! I'm flying!"
I flew in circles. My lighted house looked so pretty from up there in the sky.
"Wuhoo! I think I should now challenge all the magicians, Ne? I know! I'll show Dynamo my levitating skills! Ha! Ha!"
"Lets go on a long ride shall we?" he gave me his hand just like a prince.
"Oh! So romantic! You're so cute Syaoran!", I gave him a light punch on the stomach but I didn't know that my excitement would be so much that it would double the effect. Syaoran flew flying down. He shot up like a rocket and burst.
"You're a sumo-wrestler or what?!"
The thought of me as a swollen fat sumo-wrestler really sounded funny so I instantly started giggling.
He smiled.
"Good to have you back!"
Ah! Returning back after so long! I even forgot I started this story 2 years ago! :P Well, never mind. Actually, sorry. Thanks to a friend of mine, I remembered even I once had the temporary passion of writing :P So thank you Arunuki. Anyway, I changed the name of the main character back to Emily, as the ghost of the Last Exorcism isn't creeping me out anymore. Thanks for all views and likes!
Eye catch:
1. Saree is the traditional wear of India. Like you have Kimono in Japan, Saree in India. It's a long fabric which is wrapped around the hips and draped over the shoulder. It was always my dream to make an anime based on India and there instead of a kimono, girls would wear a Saree and look elegant and pretty! Well, lets see what future beholds for me.
is known as the festival of lights. According to mythology, Diwali was first celebrated to welcome Prince Rama, Prince Lakshmana and Princess Sita (Ram's wife) back to Ayodhya, their kingdom. You can checkout Ramayana to see what it is. So in Diwali, all the houses are cleaned and decorated, new clothes worn, Crackers set fire to, and my favorite part, houses are lit up with different colored lights.
