Thank you to bemmett4eternity and wisegirl1993 for leaving feedback. I understand there are probably more interesting 'Bemmett' stories on this site than mine. I also understand that people don't review every chapter or sometimes just read the updates without leaving feedback. But I admit it doesn't leave me feeling inspired to update this story when I don't get much feedback. I would never force you to leave a review, but it's always nice for writers to know how they're doing with their story. That being said: am I doing okay with this story? Am I doing bad? I don't know the answer unless you tell me. To be honest, I'm almost tempted to put this story on hiatus and focus on the stories I do get reviews on. I enjoy writing this story, but I'm not going to waste my time on it if no one will read it. I feel I'm writing this story for nothing. I apologize if I'm making anyone mad, but I'm just being honest with my feelings. I've decided to update this story one more time and go from there. If you want more chapters, let me know. Otherwise, this may be the last one. Thank you for your time. I don't own SAB.
Chapter 12
(Bay is outside in her art room. She attempts to draw, but her mind keeps going back to the same thing she was thinking about before. She decides to give up drawing as she knew what she needed to do next. She had been debating whether to take that next step. But, after talking to Daphne earlier, she knew it was time to talk to Emmett. Was she nervous? Yes. Was she scared as hell? Definitely. Why? Because if they resolved everything and decided to give their relationship another chance and something went wrong afterwards. While she admitted to herself she has dreamed of them reuniting for so long, she needed to try)
(Love was never an issue between them as they had probably loved each other since they met without realizing it. What was an issue was if she could trust him again. Trust that when things got tough between them, he wouldn't be tempted to look to someone else. Well, she knew that was one of the questions she would ask him)
(Bay checks her watch. 7pm. She inhaled then exhaled as she glances at a photo she took long ago and couldn't bring herself to get rid of it no matter how mad she was at him. Deep down, a part of her knew down the line her feelings would change. She was right)
(She takes her cell phone out of her pocket and goes to Emmett's number. After finding it, she clicks on the text icon and briefly thinks about what to say. She begins her message)
Bay: "'Emmett. It's Bay. If you're not too busy, I was hoping we could talk again. We didn't get everything out in the open last time. Let me know if you can meet'."
(She presses 'send'. She decides to pass the time by looking at a magazine that's on her counter. A few minutes later, her phone beeps. Bay checks it and sees a text from Emmett. She presses the 'see message' and reads what he wrote)
Bay: "'Bay, no I'm not busy. Just looking at a magazine. I would love to meet with you so we can talk. I agree that we need to get everything out in the open. Where do you want to meet?'"
(Bay texts back)
Bay: "'Emmett, how about in the park where we met last time by the bench? Is that okay?'"
(A minute later, Bay receives a text from Emmett)
Bay: "'Sounds good. Twenty minutes sound okay?'"
(Bay texts back)
Bay: "I'll be there."
(Bay turns off the light and closes the door to her little art studio. She gets in the car and drives to the park. Once there, she parks by the sidewalk and sees Emmett's motorcycle already there. She takes a nervous breath as she gets out of her car)
Bay: (sighs) "Bay, quit being so nervous. This meeting needs to happen. You need to get everything out in the open."
(She has a weird look on her face that causes her to laugh unexpectedly)
Bay: "Knowing Emmett, he'll make me laugh. Somehow. That's Emmett. Always making others laugh."
(She clears her throat as she walks to the bench where she and Emmett are meeting. Once she gets close enough to the bench, she sees him sitting down. He's leaning forward with his elbows on his thighs and his hands together like he's praying. He sees her and stands up. He offers a smile and she offers one as well. They're finally face to face and Emmett starts the conversation)
Emmett: "I'm glad you texted me."
Bay: (nods) "I thought it was time we got it all out in the open. We got some out before, but not everything."
Emmett: (nods) "I agree." (apologetic face) "I know you weren't expecting to talk about my family."
Bay: "That needed to come out as well, so you're fine."
Emmett: (small smile) "Thank you for understanding."
Bay: (nods & smiles) "You're welcome."
(Emmett briefly looks at the bench before facing her again)
Emmett: "Do you want to sit down?" (jokingly) "I don't know about you, but I prefer sitting over standing as it feels more comfortable."
Bay: (chuckles) "I agree."
(They both sit down and Bay can't help but chuckle, which he notices)
Emmett: (smiles a little) "What's so funny?"
Bay: (points at him) "You. You always did know how to make me laugh."
Emmett: (smiles & shrugs) "I love making you laugh."
Bay: (smiles) "That's one thing I loved about you."
(She puts her hands one on top of the other and looks down. He is so tempted to touch her hand with his, but doesn't know if it's a good idea or not. He decides to make a bold move. He rests one of his hands over hers, causing her to look up at him. It's clear she's affected by the move on his part as well as the touch of his hand. Oh, how she missed his touch. Her eyes fill with tears as she is overcome with all these emotions at once. She sniffles and a few tears fall down her face. Emmett can't help but use his thumb to wipe away the wet tears. She smiles briefly before she controls herself. They knew what needed to happen next. They look right in the other's eyes)
Bay: "Are you ready?"
Emmett: (nods) "Yes. I'll let you go first."
Bay: (nods) "Okay." (breathes deeply) "Ready or not, let's do this."
Chapter 12 Done
I'm curious what you think. The next chapter, if it does get written, will feature them getting it all out in the open and seeing where things go between them from that point on. I hope you will consider leaving feedback, but it's your choice. For those of you who have stuck with me so far, thank you. It means a lot.
