I do not own Fairy Tail
Previously... Suddenly Laxus's lips were on hers, abruptly answering her question. At first Lucy's body tensed up in response, but seeing as Laxus was not pulling away she relaxed into him and closed her eyes and started to kiss back.
As soon as their lips touched a sensation that neither knew before materialized. It was warm tingling, and… pure. The feeling instantly pushed what was meant to be a simple kiss, into one of heated passion. Their senses were on a high, the drug being one another.
Suddenly Laxus pulled away and jumped off the ground. Lucy felt numb and dejected, and apparently it showed on her face because he quickly explained, "As much as I would love to continue someone is approaching, and fast."
A look of understanding passed over her face, much to his relief, and she quickly got up as well. No time at all had passed before the two heared a desperate cry.
"MISS LUCY!"
Lucy pressed down her clothing and hair before turning to where the voice was coming from. She glanced at the man to her right who had his back turned but she could faintly hear him mumbling about some "fucking kid ruing his fun." Lucy could not help but silently laugh. Laxus turned to face her and they locked eyes. It was strange, all evening they have been looking at one another yet this time there was a hint of something more.
Their attention was soon pulled from one another to the sound of feet rapidly approaching. It was not long before a boy with jet black hair was in view running towards them. A look of realization passed over Lucy's face before one of worry appeared. "Misha! Is something wrong?"
Still a ways away Misha called out again, "Miss Lucy! We need your help!"
Lucy and Laxus both became very serious and looked at one another, and then ran to meet the boy. "Misha, what happened are you alright?" Lucy asked as they became closer
"Papa…" the two mages could see the fear in the boy's eyes, "they came out of nowhere…" tears had began to poor out of his eyes, "Please we have to hurry!"
Laxus picked up the boy and began running back the way he came from, with Lucy hot on their heels. The boy was near hysterics but they needed more information.
"Misha I know you are scared, but I need you to tell us what happened."
Choking back a few sobs Misha started softly, "We were all walking back together, when all of a sudden these monsters came out running towards us making these weird hissing sound… we did not know how to react until it was to late… Papa and a few other parents know some magic. So they made it possible for us to escape back behind the wall. I wanted to stay with Papa and help, but he said I had to get everyone else back, and hold off what they could not. Once the rest of us got back behind the wall, I remembered that you came tonight… everyone else said it was to late. But I knew you would still be here."
Laxus's face remained stoic but in his mind he was preparing for the worst. I don't think they were talking about the time little man.
By the time Misha had finished explaining they had reached the edge of the forest and a large group of people that Laxus recognized as the families that took over the picnic tables. He quickly scanned the group, taking in a wide variety of emotions. Laxus put Misha down and gave him a stern look, "Stay."
"But you don't know where they are. I have to show you so you can help them."
"I can smell him, stay here."
"I have to come and help! You don't understand I can't lose him too!" Misha screamed. A new wave of tears began to fall down his face. Laxus looked up from the boy at the now silent group, all eyes were on him and he did not know what to do. The children were confused at the sudden outburst, and the adults looked on with consternation and dismay. Yet none stepped forward to help or comfort him, they themselves frozen in their own uncertainty.
Laxus was steadily growing in anger, 'These people are parents! They should be helping him. All I know how to do is fight, not care for some crying child. I don't have time for this-.'
"Misha…"
A soft voice pulled the man out of his thoughts; he turned to see Lucy moving forward and in front of Misha. Bending down to be at eye level she continued, "We will save your dad and the others, but Laxus and I need you to stay here and keep everyone calm and safe. Can you do that for us?"
Misha's sobbing subsided, but his lips were quivering so he could only nod.
"Good." Lucy gently reached up and pulled his small hands into hers, "Everything is going to be fine, don't worry." Lucy smiled reassuring at him before standing up and turning to Laxus, "Let's go."
At that they began running into the forest, Laxus taking the lead. He had been surprised how well Lucy had handled that, not only had she calmed Misha but everyone around, including him, with only a few words. Now he focused himself on following Ralo's scent, preparing himself for the fight. This will be interesting; I have never fought with Blondie… Suddenly a light bulb clicks above his head, "Blondie you should stay back."
"And why in Earthland should I do that?" Lucy angrily responded
He mentally flinched at her tone, tread carefully Laxus we don't have time for a fight, "You don't have your keys, or whip."
"I'll be fine."
"But earlier-"
"I'll be fine."
"Have it your way Blondie."
The two were close, Lucy could hear yelling, and dozens of low hissing sounds. Before they knew it the two blondes came upon Ralo and the other adults, they were huddled together in a defensive circle on top large rock. They were surrounded on all sides by small lizard like creatures that had wickedly sharp teeth with horns on either side of their heads and spikes running down the length of their backs that ended at the tip of the tail. (Picture the 'Terrible Terrors from how to train your dragon but without wings or fire and they have face of the Monstrous Nightmare)
All of the adults had some type of stick or branch in hand that they were using to keep the creatures from climbing up the rock. All of them looked tired and decently scratched up. But they were all alive and still fighting.
Before the two could breath a sigh of relief they still had to save the group from being torn apart and eaten by the steadily growing swarm of lizard creatures. Ralo and the others were safe on the rock for at least for the next few minutes, giving the two mages time to think. They moved closer and crouched behind a bush.
"This will be easy, just stay here." He said quietly, he moved to ready his attack but was stopped by a small hand on his bicep. Laxus looked at the girl and he could see the gears turning in her head
"We need to take them all out at once."
"Why?"
"These are Spinosalts, I read that they are relatively weak on their own but when the whole lounge is present, like what is gathering now, they have been able to take down wyverns."
"Seriously? Why haven't I heard of them then?"
"Probably because they aren't native to these parts, what the group probably ran into were the scouts and the hissing sound is like a homing device for the rest of the lounge."
"Lounge? Why can't I just get their attention on us and shock them as they come at us."
"Ugh Lounge is what you call a group of lizards and no, they would just burrow into the ground and attack from below… If I had Virgo we could set a trap below, but I don't so we need to think. What we need is something sent in all directions at once, and we need to act fast."
"Why"
"The smartest and biggest Spinosalts are recognized as the alphas, they will be able to figure out a way to get them off the rock and they will be here soon. What we need is a mini Thunder Palace."
Laxus was a little surprised and hurt, but realized she was being serious. "That attack is from above and hits everything within the circle."
"Exactly!"
"Everything would include the people we are trying to save."
"Not unless that small section is protected."
"That would be perfect but we don't have-"
"I'll do it."
"How are you going to do that?"
"I just have to get in the middle of them somehow."
"I don't want to upset you but Plue can't block my attack."
Lucy shot him a glare, "I did not say 'Plue', I said 'I.'… I guess I could just run straight through. That would be the fastest…"
Laxus scoffed, "Ya you could do that, or I could just throw you like your spirit did."
Lucy smiled brightly "Laxus that's brilliant!"
Laxus sweat dropped, "I wasn't being serious."
"Doesn't matter, can you do it or not?"
"Ya but what about-"
"Oh no the alphas are here. Just do it Laxus!" Laxus looked back and saw that number of Spinosalts had risen and they were parting for two pure white lizard creatures.
"Oh what the Hell! Fine. Get in a ball."
Quickly Lucy obliged and was soon being thrown (like a soccer ball) in a high arch, Shit I did not think about landing. "RALO!"
Suddenly all eyes were on her, all were very surprised at the flying blonde hurtling towards the center. "Clear room in the center, and get ready."
Immediately the group parted so they were on the very edge of the rock, leaving about a 3-foot wide target. No sooner had they moved was Lucy just clearing their heads and landing heavy in the center, "Alright every get in close, Laxus count to 20 then do it."
"Damn it Blondie what the Hell are you going to do?"
"Just shut Sparky and attack, we'll be fine!"
"Why you! How- Just- Ugh Fine, but if you all get hurt don't blame me!"
"Ya, ya whatever, remember 20 seconds."
Without thinking anymore of it Laxus counted to 10 then turned into his lighting form and flew high and directly above the rock. 11… then turned back into his human form 12… righted himself… 13… He took a deep breath 14… let his magic build to just enough 15… then he it lose, lightning flew out him, engulfing the entire area in bright yellow lighting. Once he felt that it was enough, he hurriedly transported himself back onto the smoking ground.
Silence… Laxus held his breath, and waited for the smoke to clear. Then to his annoyed relief he heard her.
"Laxus I said 20 seconds! Not 15!"
Laxus turned in the direction her voice came from atop the rock to see her angry and everyone else smiling at him.
"Do you know how to count?"
"Of course I do Blondie, but I am not a very patient guy. How-?"
"Doesn't matter, your lucky I have gotten better. Let's get these guys back."
Laxus was sporting a very perplexed look, and he wanted answers. But decided to ask more about it later. "Fine."
The adults had finally broken free of their stunned silence, and immediately began thanking Laxus and Lucy. Laxus waved them off and began walking away, leaving Lucy to comfort them from their shock and assured them of the safety of the others. Once she had calmed them down they began the journey back.
Time skip, just before the clearing
Lucy had told Ralo of how determined Misha was to get them, and mentioned his fear of losing his father. Laxus had not so subtly mentioned the crying. "I really can not thank you enough Miss Lucy."
"I told you Ralo, its just Lucy. Also I told you it was no big deal, besides Laxus did most of the work."
A small grunt was heard in front of them from said man.
"Yes, thank you again Mr. Dreyar. But this time I was referring to Misha, I know it was you who calmed him."
As if on cue Misha's voice could be heard, "Everyone, please stay calm I am sure that lightning was Laxus. Miss Lucy said everything would be okay. My Papa and the others are going to come back, just you see."
Lucy only responded with a shy smile before she ran ahead and out of the trees, "Hey everyone, look who we found!"
"Papa!" Misha ran into the waiting arms of his father, tears of relief in his eyes. "Thank you Miss Lucy, thank you Mister Laxus."
Laxus grunted but ruffled Misha's hair as we walked past to gather Lucy and his stuff on the cliff.
Lucy was left again to deal with the crowd; she was ambushed with thanks and questions of well-being. "Everyone is fine. I told you we would bring them back, didn't I?" She watched as the families were reunited and a large smile formed on her face. Soon Laxus was standing next to her watching the scene with her basket in hand. "We should walk them home, then you and I need to discuss a few things."
Lucy gave him a sly look and huffed at him before she stepped forward, We'll see about that, but he is right we should get them home, "Come on everyone lets get you guys back to town and call it a night."
Happy calls of agreement met her ears, and they began the trek back to the city.
If you couldn't tell I went with the rewrite, for those of you who liked the smut don't worry later there will be more. I thank those who posted their opinions, it helps me because even though I know where I want the story to go I am still a bit undecided on how I want it to get there.
