POV Skylar
"I must say Miss. Michaels I was rather surprised you allowed his presence here after what he nearly did to you." L asks. BB gives me a mischievous grin and I roll my eyes and sigh "Honestly I don't care I just want to catch Kira as soon as possible that means working with this scumbag then I'm fine with it. But listen here 'BB' if you even make one glance in the wrong direction I'll throw your ass in jail so quick your head will spin." He nods and smirks at my threat. We are getting better at acting with each other, you would barley guess we would even consider us friends.
"Oh by the way Miss. Michaels you might want to go home and study. Isn't Finals tomorrow?" L asks with his usual stoic expression. I look at my red leather watch with an old fashion Mickey Mouse on the face. "Shit, it's getting late I better go. See ya later guys." I grab my bag and make a mad dash to the bus station.
I open the door and I see Kayla fast asleep, I close the door quietly behind be but unfortunately Kayla is a light sleeper. "Sky what are you doing out so late?" I put my bag down and pull out all my books "Sorry I was with some friends and I got caught up." Kayla gets up in her cookie monster pajamas. "Oh, mind if I study with you? My notes aren't the best and yours is probably amazing." She says with a nervous laugh. I nod and we spend the next 3 hours quizzing each other and reading over our notes.
I never felt so frikkin tired in my entire life; I got like 3 hours of sleep and I just hope I don't fall asleep during the test. I walk into the testing room and sit next to Light we have around 30 minutes to get whatever we need to do out of the way. By that I mean talk you head off with your friends before going into 5 hours of total silence. "So Skylar you've been a real go friend to me lately and I was just thinking maybe we should take a bit further?" he said reaching for my hand. I pull it back with a confused/shocked facial expression. "L-light I'm flattered, really I am but I sorta got out of a bad relationship before coming here. I don't think I'm ready for another one." Technically the only lie I said in that sentence was that I was flattered, honestly it was sickening. "Oh, if you don't mind me asking, what exactly happened?" I bit the knuckle on my index finger and try not to cry, I hate thinking about what Light did to BB. So I say the truth "He was murdered by some sick bastard." Yes, BB is still alive, but he was murdered and that is why I am in this hell in the first place. "I see, and I understand I'm sorry that happened to you. But if you're ready to move on the offer is always open." I nod "Thanks Light." Then the test began.
"Student 145 please, sit in your chair correctly." I hear the teacher say; I turn around and see L sitting in his usual manner. What the hell is L doing here? And why didn't he tell me he was coming anyway? I shake my head, I need to focus, I continue with the test.
Believe it or not the test went by pretty quick. After the test I decided I'd skip the award ceremony and catch some sleep. I woke up around 3:30 the ceremony should've just ended. I get myself re-dressed and run out the door. When I come back I see Light playing tennis with L, I mentally face-palm. After their match Light beckons me over. As I walk over I see Kayla beside me, God that girl is so quiet. "Sky this is my friend Ryuuga, Ryuuga this is my good friend Skylar and her friend Kayla." I shake his hand with a kind grin Ryuuga? Ryuzaki isn't even his real name why doesn't he use that? "Skylar Michaels? You missed the ceremony you tied with me and Light for the highest score but you didn't come up to give your speech?" L asked stoic and unreadable as ever. I got the highest score?! And I missed it?! "Aw, well I sorta didn't get a lot sleep last night so I went to go take a nap back at my dorm. I didn't really expect to get such a high grade. Well nice to meet you Ryuuga." He extends his hand to Kayla who just gives a quick "Hi" and speed walks back into the building. God I swear that girl is so shy, but I guess that's why she is such a good friend, she isn't to clingy "Gosh Skylar I don't know how you get Kayla to speak to you." Light says as he looks over in Kayla's direction. I flinch "Well I guess it just takes the right person to talk to them" Light nods and I hear a loud yelling in a high pitched screeching voice behind me "Frank this place is so big we will never find her!" Oh God. I raspy deeper voice follows "Calm down Marie, look there's she is right ova there." I turn around and put on my best grin. "Aw there's my little red riding hood." Marie comes over and hugs me and my face grows red. Don't get me wrong I love my grandmother she can just be a bit… embarrassing. She lets me go and looks Light over who is grinning ear to ear while trying not to laugh; even L has a look of amusement on his face. "Aw is this your boyfriend?" my face is even redder. "NO! I mean no, he is just a close friend." Light extends his hand "Light Yagami it's nice to meet you Mrs. Michaels." My grandmother smiles and shakes his hand "Why aren't you a sweetie pie. And you speak English too! Thank god, I swear finding directions in this place is a pain in the behind." Light laughs, "I bet it was, without finding some clear direction it can be a bit confusing." My grandmother sticks out her hand with a smile showing her teeth stains with red lipstick "Hi, I'm Skylar's Granny-ma Marie, and this is my husband Frank" my grandfather gives a smile with his lips pressed in a thin line and waves his hand. Light and L give it a quick shake, and I cough awkwardly.
"Well, why don't I show you the reception buffet Mr. and Mrs. Michaels I'm sure the food here will come to your likings" L says making a small grin before giving me a quick glance. "Oh that sounds wonderful!" exclaims my grandmother throwing up her hands and pulling my grandfather by the sleeve following L. Light turns to me giving me a serious look mixed with a conflicted one "Skylar, you boyfriend he was murdered wasn't he?" I give him a confused look and nodded slowly "Uh, yeah. Why?" Light presses his lips in a thin line then gives me a now questionable look "A-and your thoughts on Kira?" He says slowly. This was it. All I have to do is get him to trust me on this topic and then I might be able to get a confession "Kira is a being of true justice. I admire the person whoever she or he maybe." I say giving my most sincere smile. Light's eyes light up –no pun intended- and then he calms down grabs my shoulders "C-can you come to my house tonight, there is something very important I need to tell you." My heart swells and I put on my most innocent smile "Of course Light, remember you can tell me anything"
Authors Note: HOLY CRAP IT'S BEEN AWHILE. Sorry guys got into theatre and highschool and maaaaannn is it hectic, that and video games.. But here is an update I'll try to be more frequent, and Thanks to all those reviews and follows and sorry for any typos, and as always
