The Deserved Life
It was our last year of high school. Tomoko and I have had some of the best years in schooling. Both of us are unsure of what to do for a living. It was to decide whether working or furthering our education. We could definitely do music as a side job. Extra money on the cash but have to change our tunes a bit. Tomoko wasn't sure what to do about where she wanted to do honestly. I thought of making a further step in education but that meant heading to America. For the most part, make a lot of money to help living in the U.S.
"Dan? Dan?" Tomoko asking me and shook me lightly.
"Oh, sorry Tomoko. I spaced out," I said and smiled at her.
"Want to have lunch in our special place?" she asked and nudged me a little.
"Sure, let's get going," telling her and grabbing my lunch. We had this little secret place away from the others. Tomoko and I tend to socialize the club. Sometimes our classmates thought of us as the 'weird' ones. Who cares really? We enjoyed trying a little bit of each-others lunch. Time was flying fast and it didn't seem to slow as much.
It wasn't long before we had a break and we spent the usual time together at my place. We were playing games against each-other to see who had more skill. "I've been practicing and I'll beat you this time," Tomoko determined.
"You got much to learn from the master," I smirked. We selected our characters and began to fight.
"Take this!" she shouted.
"Watch this!" I answered back. It was intense but I ended up winning. I did have the lead for the most part for the past half hour.
"You must be cheating, there's no way you're that good," Tomoko grumpily.
"What can I say? I am the best," saying proudly.
"Another round, I think I got a strategy to beat you," she said with confidence.
"Alright then, prepare to be beat," I told her. Before we started, she took off her shirt to reveal her bra. "Wait a minute, you think you going to distract me that easily?"
"I'm hot Dan, you got a problem with that?" Tomoko with a grin on her face.
"Whatever, I got this. You can try but your charms won't affect me," I said with a guffaw. We began to play and I focused very hard. Before I knew it, she was behind me and rubbing her chest against the back of my head.
"Oh Dan, you're so good. I know you like it when I get a little naughty," she sensually spoke to me.
"It's not working," I say but began to blush.
"Oh, your face says otherwise," she mentioned then whispered in my ear, "You were great the other night my love machine."
I had lost the match and she exclaimed in excitement for victory. "You played dirty, no fair," I slightly pouted. Putting down the controller then pulling her to the bed. I kiss her and she started to climb on top.
"Well if you let me win, I wouldn't have to play dirty. Now wouldn't I?" Tomoko telling me.
"What if I planned this the whole time?" I grinned but joked.
"You are twisted but I like it," she said. She sat up and then started to have a funny look on her. "Dan, there's something I've been thinking about."
I sat up as well and asked, "What is Tomoko?"
"We'll be finishing school soon. What are we going to do from there?" Tomoko asking lost.
"Can't think too far ahead but we'll get there. No worries," I reassured despite my own insecurities and all.
She let out an exasperated sigh, "You say it like it's nothing. Haven't you thought about it honestly?"
"Yes…and no. Change is constant and life goes as we take it as whatever it throws at us," saying to her and taking her hand.
Then my room door opened and my mom saw us, "Oh my!" The door quickly shut.
"Mom! Knock first!" I said embarrassed. Tomoko kind of snickering about it.
"Do you at least have condoms? Got to be safe and all sweetie," my mom saying a little worried.
"Mom! It's nothing like that! We'll be fine. I'm sorry," I continued as I was beet red.
"Usually gentlemen hang a tie out to let someone know if they're having intercourse," she says to Tomoko and I.
"I get it mom! We're good, we'll be heading out for sure," I said frustrated. We soon left and walked at the park to talk more. "God that was embarrassing none the less."
"I thought how cute it was," Tomoko stated then mimicked my mom, "Do you at least have condoms sweetie."
I gave her a look but couldn't help but laugh, "So what are your plans Tomoko? For when school is done."
"I don't quite know what I would be good at honestly. It's like I have no talent whatsoever," Tomoko saying disappointed.
"Not true, you got an awesome singing voice," I encouraged.
"Look how that turned out, remember?" she said annoyed.
"It's different now but here's something. Singing songs for anime like openings and/or endings you know," I said rather proud of the idea.
"You seem to know what to say or something," Tomoko looking at me perplexed.
"It's been quite an experience through high school. Life though has more to teach and more to learn," I say.
"Well aren't you philosophical huh?" she said impressed.
"I think a lot Tomoko. I'm surprise that my brain rests," I tell her.
"Let's make this break happen something epic," Tomoko excited. We enjoyed the rest of the break and school was moving fast till it got close to our graduation soon. We had whatever we wanted planned out for when we graduate. It was the morning of our graduation. "Dan, I'm a little nervous and queasy."
"You want something to help the queasy feeling?" asking Tomoko.
"Yes please," she requested.
I gave her some medicine and then said, "I think you'll like how things are planned out for us."
"I've been meaning to tell you something though Dan," Tomoko sounding down.
"What's going on this time? Don't feel like you can't tell me," reassuring her.
She had a depressed sigh and tells me, "This life we're having together. I don't think I deserve it. It's going to have a point where things will change it. Probably won't be the same as it is now."
Taking her hands in mine, "You're right about that. It'll get better and life will never cease to amaze what we go through. Most importantly, you deserve it. No, we deserve it. Life was shitty back then but when we got together. It has become nothing short of exciting and new."
"Really Dan?" Tomoko asked. I nodded and she hugged me then gave me a strong passionate kiss. "I feel like a weight has lifted off me. Let's enjoy our graduation."
We did that and celebrated with our families. I know I had a surprise for Tomoko when we were at the restaurant. "Tomoko, I got a surprise but let's be in front of our family first." I took her hand and we stood there face to face. I start to pull out a ring and get on one knee, "Tomoko Kuroki, will you marry me?"
She was on the verge of joyous tears. Looking at her family first and they nodded that it was fine. "Yes Dan! I'll marry you!" I put the ring on her and she held me in a loving embrace.
I reciprocated that embrace too and gave her a long deep loving kiss. "To the life we deserve." She nodded and our family clapping about our engagement.
The End
