Several weeks had passed since Eragon Shadeslayer had righted his wrong and lifted Elva's curse. The main effects of the curse – intense hunger and a need to protect and comfort all other – were completely gone. However, some side effects remained, such as Elva's purple eyes, and her sped up aging was not reversed.

She sat now on a stone outcropping near the edge of the Varden's camp. Though she was no longer cursed, she still preferred to keep to herself; she was, after all, never going to be normal, regardless of her curse.

"Good evening, Elva," said a musical voice from behind her.

Elva turned to see Arya approaching her, her lithe movements much more graceful than a human's. The elf settled herself next to Elva. Elva didn't mind; the elf's company was one of the few she enjoyed, besides Angela.

"Good evening, Arya."

"How are you?" Arya asked. Elva normally was annoyed at this question when people asked it, but she didn't mind it from Arya because she could tell that the elf meant it every time.

"I am well," she replied. "I am no longer needed by the Varden, so they are leaving me alone. I am enjoying my peace."

"You have not spoken with Nasuada," Arya said. It wasn't a question.

"No," Elva said. She had been avoiding Nasuada since the day Eragon finally lifted her curse. She knew Nasuada had not supported him doing that and was probably very unhappy with her now.

"I don't need to answer to the Varden anymore," Elva said. "I am no longer a prisoner of myself, and I shall be a prisoner of no person from now on."

Arya nodded. Elva felt that the elf respected her statement, even if she did not tell her so.

"You are free to be a child now," Arya said. "Free from the plague of the woes of adults."

"Yes," Elva said. She grinned and lifted her face toward the setting sun. She felt the last rays of sunlight reflecting off of her dragon mark.

"I am free, and freedom is the most wonderful feeling."

A/N: I finally finished Elva's Revenge! Sorry it took so incredibly long, haha. It only took eleven years! If anyone is still reading this, enjoy. :)
