Chapter 11: Through the middle.

Spectra, the next morning

The loud ringing snaps a reluctant Johnny out of his sleep. The large black wolf groans as he slams the snooze button, shutting the annoying alarm off. He slowly opens his eyes to the still dark room. It takes a moment for Johnny's eyes to adjust to the dark.

Johnny just lays there in bed too tired to move. Last night wore him out. The last time Johnny was this tired was his and Fara's honeymoon. Though even if he had the energy to move, he didn't want to. The sleeping vixen lying on his chest is so beautiful that Johnny doesn't want to wake him. But Johnny knows he has to eventually.

Johnny wraps his arm around Fara and gently pulls the half – asleep vixen onto his chest. He holds her close, feeling her warm, naked body on top of his. Johnny leans in close and kisses Fara on the forehead, waking the vixen up fully. Fara smiles lightly at her husband.

"Good morning beautiful." Johnny whispers in Fara's ear. "How did you sleep?"

Fara raises her head and looks deep into Johnny's eyes. "Best sleep I've had in a year, since the last time we mated."

Johnny pats Fara on top of her head. "I'm sorry about waiting so long to satisfy you. I've just been so busy, and distracted, that I neglected the best thing in my life, you and the kids. I promise that will never happen again."

Fara leans in and kisses Johnny's nose. "Apology accepted honey. That's all I ever really wanted, is for you to be there for our family. And to occasionally take me to scream town."

"Oh that I can promise. Though I gotta admit that all that time did help build up the intensity. I swear the waiting just made it better. In my opinion, almost as good as our honeymoon."

Fara smirks. "I kind of agree, though I would prefer not to wait so long next time."

"Don't worry about that sweetheart. But I'm afraid that's going to have to wait for a few minutes." Johnny replies as he gets up and starts putting on his clothes.

"Where you going honey?"

Johnny turns around to see Fara sitting in their bed with a smile. She lets the sheets slowly roll down her body, revealing a pleasing view to Johnny. Johnny knows what Fara wants, for him to get back into bed and continue their mating session. As much as Johnny wants to play with Fara, he knows he still has a duty.

Johnny sits down on the bed next to Fara. "I'm just going to relieve Timothy." Johnny smiles when Fara groans. "It'll just take a few minutes. I just want to know if there have been any updates."

"Really, you're going to interrupt our fun night for that." Fara complains.

Johnny leans in and gives Fara a kiss on the forehead. "You are so cute when you're angry. But I promise I'll be back soon. We can continue where we left off when I get back. How does that sound?"

Fara grabs Johnny's face and pulls him into a deep kiss. Johnny is caught completely off guard, but it doesn't take him long to adjust and embrace Fara's warm lips and her tongue in his mouth.

"You'd better come back soon baby. Don't be gone for too long or you might find me not here. I can only keep open for so long." Fara says once she reluctantly breaks away from Johnny's lips.

"Don't worry about that sweetheart. I'll practically run to the bridge and back." Johnny replies with a wink

Johnny quickly throws a shirt on and almost runs to the door. The thought of coming back to his waiting wife adds speed to his usual step.

"Oh and Johnny, one more thing before you go." Fara shouts as Johnny is about to walk out the door. "It'd better not be a year before the next time we mate. I'll admit that the anticipation build up made it magical but I don't want to wait a year. You're just too good at it to make me wait."

A seductive smile crosses Johnny's face. "You got nothing to worry about Fara. I promise, I will never make you wait this long again."

Johnny's promises seem to satisfy the vixen as she just smiles and lays back down. She doesn't pull the bed covers back over her to cover her body. All it does it make it harder for Johnny to walk out the door. But it also makes it easier since Johnny knows what is waiting for him when he returns.

X

"How Tim, how's the sky looking?" Johnny shouts as he walks onto the bridge.

Johnny is a bit surprised to see James' head pop up from the operator's chair. "The skies are clear Captain."

"James, you are my friend. You can call me Johnny." Johnny says with a smirk. "What are you doing here anyway? You should be spending time with your son."

"I did, he is sleeping right now. The whole family is sleeping together in one room. Last time I saw them Fox was snuggling up next to Vixy."

"Then why are you there, even if they are sleeping?"

"I needed to stretch my legs, plus I wasn't really tired." James replies. "When I got here I noticed Timothy nodding off. So I took his place while he went to get some rest. I'll go back to my family soon."

"Seems like there's a lot of that going around lately." Johnny mumbles, referring to Triton reuniting with Elizabeth and Samuel.

"Too bad this is not going to last very long." James sighs. "Soon we'll be back to war, risking our lives for honor and revenge."

"Yeah, but hopefully this war will be over soon. I just want some peace so I can be with my family without having to worry about anything happening to them."

"Good luck with that Johnny." James smirks. "I've been trying that for years. The only way you're going to live in peace is to leave the game. And even then you might have enemies seeking revenge. My advice, quit when this is over."

Johnny looks at James stunned. "Quit, just when I'm really getting started in the mercenary game. I still got the adrenaline rush going."

"Yes, it's better to live with an unused adrenaline rush than risk your family's safety. It wouldn't be that hard for you to settle down with your family. I mean you're married to a Phoenix. You can live anywhere you want, have all of life's luxuries, and afford the best security money can buy."

"I'll consider it my friend." Johnny replies. "Lately I've been putting my family second, I was so focused on this war. But that needs to change."

James stands up and pats Johnny on the shoulder. "Smart move my friend."

Johnny was about to reply back when he noticed something on the radar. Even from ten feet away Johnny could see multiple incoming boogies. Johnny ran to the radar screen to get a better look.

"What is it Johnny?" James asked.

"We got at least a squadron of Venom – class Interceptors heading our way."

"How is that possible? I thought that the Spectra was completely cloaked against the Venom and Tiger technology." James shouts.

"It is, but the Great Fox isn't. They must've detected it and sent a squadron to search and destroy us."

"Damn, looks like break time is over." James moaned.

"Unfortunately, I was starting to enjoy spending time with Fara." Johnny replied as he pushed the speaker button. "ATTENTION ALL PERSONNEL, REPORT TO THE BRIDGE IMMEDIATELY."

X

Ten minutes later, everyone except Triton was standing on the bridge. Only the kids are not in attendance.

"Has anyone seen Triton?" Johnny asked very frustrated. He didn't add his older brother onto the team just so he could lay around.

Timothy looks on the ship's personnel monitoring screen to find Triton's location. Johnny had Timothy design it when Jennifer was born so they could track the kids' movements. "He's still in his room Johnny."

"What the hell is he doing?" Johnny groans. "I'll get him personally."

Johnny walked out of the bridge mumbling under his breath. Triton's only been a member of Star Ghost for a couple of days now and already he's getting on Johnny's nerves. Whenever Johnny orders everyone to be bridge they are supposed to be. Though Johnny assumed that it's mostly because Triton's not use to taking orders from his little brother. Whatever the reason it's really not helping ease Johnny's anger.

Johnny came to Triton's door and pounds on it, no answer. He takes a step back and kicks the door in. When he entered the room he wished he'd never kicked the door down.

In the bed, covered by only the bedsheets are Triton and Elizabeth. Both were covered in sweat and gasping for breath. A big smile was on both their faces. Triton and Elizabeth turned their heads towards Johnny who was stood there.

"What the hell are you doing Johnny?" Triton shouts.

"Didn't you hear my orders?" Johnny shouts as he covered his eyes. "You're supposed to be on the bridge ten minutes ago."

"Johnny, I've gone nearly ten years without mating with my wife. So give me a minute." Triton moans.

Johnny turned around so he doesn't have see Elizabeth plowing his older brother. "I would if we didn't have a Venom squadron fast approaching us. Now get on the bridge before I blast your naked asses into space."

Johnny slammed the door shut leaving Triton to make up his mind and get dressed.

"I'm going to need a therapy after seeing that." Johnny thinks. "After we deal with these Venom dumbasses I'm going to have a talk with him."

X

Fara looked at Johnny as he sat down in the captain's chair. She noticed the look on his face when Triton walks onto the bridge.

"Let me guess, you caught Triton and Elizabeth mating?" Fara whispered to Johnny with a smirk.

"Yep, it's an image I'll never get out of my brain." Johnny replied.

"Well you should've known better than to kick the door down. Of course Triton was going to take Elizabeth to scream town." Fara smirk. "They got nearly ten years of mating to catch up on."

Johnny looks at Fara a bit disgusted. "Do you really have to talk about this right now?"

"Yeah, you know me babe. I gotta annoy you every chance I get."

"Very funny Fara. We'll talk about this when we don't have la Venom Squadron coming our way." Johnny says as he turns to the everyone on the bridge. "Alright everyone, thanks for finally showing up. We got some bad news, thanks to Star Fox, the Venom and Tiger forces know we're here and they've sent an Interceptor squadron to eliminate us."

"Whoa, what do you mean it's my team's fault Johnny?" Fox shouted back.

"Well your ship doesn't have stealth technology. There's no way in hell they can detect the Spectra. But we can't worry about that now. Not with an Interceptor squad coming towards us."

"Ok, I'll yell at you later Johnny." Fox replied. "Let's just kick their asses right now. With all of us combined we should be able to take them out with ease."

"It's a little more complicated than that Fox." Timothy added. "Since they know we're here Venom and the Tigers will start to fortify the planet and burn their intel. My scanners have already detected significant movement since we've been spotted."

"So you're saying that we have to fight them on two fronts now?" Peppy asked. "Dealing with the Interceptor squad and attacking Jeremiah before they can effectively fortify the planet and destroy any intelligence."

"Yeah, that sounds about right." Fara added.

"Well then it's a good thing we got two mercenary teams here." Johnny responded. "Fox, you don't mind if I make the plan do ya?"

"Not really, as long as it doesn't get us killed." Fox answered.

"Well it's pretty simple. Fox, I want your team to take on the Interceptors. Since my team has the stronger ground force, we'll go down to the surface and take out everything down there."

"Sounds simple to me. I'm game for it."

"Alright, everyone get ready." Johnny orders.

"Wait Johnny, can I make a suggestion?" James asked.

"Sure, what is it?"

"With your permission Johnny, I'd like to be on my son's team for this mission."

"Sure, you and Vixy both go. My team can handle anything on the surface."

"Thanks Johnny, I owe you one."

"No problem James, just don't get yourself killed." Johnny jokes.

Jeremiah, Venom Science Lab

Dr. Brian Sterns, an ape scientist for Venom, walks to the Venom lab on the secluded section of Jeremiah. The hike to this part of Jeremiah is a bit of a walk for the middle aged ape. It doesn't help that the Tiger occupants are not necessarily the friendliest bunch. He hates being posted on this desolate planet. If it wasn't Andross giving the orders he wouldn't even be here.

"Halt or get put down." A Tiger guard shouts at Dr. Stern, pointing his rifle at Stern's head.

"Lower the rifle dumbass. I'm Dr. Stern."

The Tiger reluctantly obeys sterns. He doesn't hold back a snarl. Though Stern doesn't show it he is terrified of the Tiger. He's nearly twice as big as Stern, with muscles large enough to rip him apart with his bare hands, and razor sharp fangs. Sterns walks around the Tiger and into the lab.

Sterns finds the lab almost empty except for a few scientists and their experiments. Most are useless experiments that Sterns know won't work. But Andross has ordered them to work so they work. Sterns only concern is his experiment in the back. He makes his way to the Tiger in charge of running the building.

"How is our little experiment doing today?" Dr. Stern asked the Tiger.

"She's still stubborn and aggressive towards us." The Tiger says with a rape vibe smile. "If she wasn't so deadly I'd go in there myself."

"That'd be the last mistake you've ever made." Dr. Sterns joked.

Dr. Sterns walks to the back of the lab to check on the experiment. A small 5' x 5' cage, with electrified with one blue furred fox lies in his eye sight. Even he can't take his eyes off of the beautiful vixen. It doesn't help that the only clothing she has on is a small bra and panties. Every man in the lab wants to get that cage but doesn't out of fear.

Dr. Stern turns to his assistant. "How soon will we be ready with the indoctrination?"

"We need at least an hour to get everything ready. But why do we need to indoctrinate her? We have the perfect assassin. What's better than a sexy telepath?"

Dr. Sterns stares down his assistant. Sometimes the stupidity of his assistant angers the ape. Sterns wonders at times how this lizard even graduated the academy.

"Because she is not loyal to us. She absolutely hates her guts, especially after what we did to her home world. Sure we programmed the clone with assassin skills but that doesn't mean she is loyal to us. If we let our out of the cage she'd kill everyone here. She's killed every person who's gone into her cage."

Dr. Stern's assistant gulps out of fear. "Ok, I'll get to work right away on the procedure. We'll have it ready within the hour."

Dr. Stern looks at the blue furred Fox as his assistant walks away to prepare the procedure. "Soon Jasmine, soon you will work for us."

Jeremiah Airspace

"This is Cartman here, no problems." The lead Venom pilot calls out over the radio.

2nd Lieutenant Eric Cartman flies the lead Venom recon squad. To his left and right are two Venom Interceptors each, Cartman in the lead. Behind him are more than two dozen Venom Interceptors ready to engage if Cartman gives them the signal.

So far their recon mission has turned up nothing. Less than half an hour ago he got orders to investigate a possible hostile threat in this sector. Command told him it was possibly Star Fox. But so far he hasn't seen anything.

"Maybe Command made a mistake. They've been a little jumpy lately ever since Star Ghost started raiding our posts. They send us out at the slightest hint of a threat. It's starting to get annoying." Cartman thinks. "Sometimes I wish we would come under attack, just so the boredom would end."

A sudden explosion shakes Cartman out of his trance. He looks to the right and sees the closest Interceptor to him exploding. Out of the corner of his eye, Cartman sees five Arwing style fighters coming at him.

"Do you copy, emergency maneuvers?" Cartman shouts as his team breaks off.

Falco watches with a smile as the Venom recon team breaks off. "Too late, game over pal."

Falco breaks off from the group ahead of the others and engages the enemy. Fox sighs watching Falco do what he does, the old solo act. If there's one thing Fox didn't miss about the good old days it was Falco's lone wolf personality, especially in a dogfight.

"What is wrong with that guy Fox?" James asked. "Does that man ever think about the team?"

"Nope, he's always been an arrogant, selfish, son of a bitch." Fox replied with a smile. "But he's one of the best damn pilots I know."

"Fox watch your language." Vixy shouted.

"Ok mom." Fox rolled his eyes, his mother was always a little stingy when it came to cuss words. "Alright guys let's back Falco up."

Falco pursued the fleeing Interceptors while the others hung back a little. With the enemy fleeing him like cowards Falco started feeling a little overconfident. But his arrogance quickly turns to fear when he sees an entire squadron coming his way.

"Damn it, where the hell did they come from?" Falco shouts as he U-turns.

Falco accelerated as fast he could to escape the Interceptors but they were on his tail. All around him incoming enemy fire passed by him. Falco did all he can to dodge their shots but they were getting closer. His sensors go off indicating that his he being locked onto him.

"Damn this is what I get cocky."

Suddenly Falco saw Fox, James & Vixy, Slippy, and Peppy flying towards him.

"Falco get out of the way." Fox shouted.

Falco banked to the right just as Fox, James & Vixy, Slippy, and Peppy each fired a nova bomb at the squadron chasing him. He barely accelerated in time to avoid being within the blast radius. The Interceptors were not so lucky. Nearly half of the squadron is destroyed in the blast.

"Thanks guys I owe you one." Falco shouted as he u-turns just as the rest of his team made it to his position. "Next time I'll stick with the team."

Fox sighed. "That's what you say every time this happens Falco. Maybe someday you'll learn."

"Hey you don't have to be a jerk Fox. I can leave any time I want."

"Hey you two break it up." James annoyed voice shouted over the radio. "Save the crap for when we're not in a dogfight."

James broke away from the group to chase two Interceptors who turned to flee while the others each chased a different target.

"Dang that boy needs to learn to control his emotions better, a dogfight is not a good place for this." James thought as he tried to get one of the Interceptors in his crosshairs.

"Oh please James, you were the same way when you were his age." James almost jumped at the sound of Vixy's voice in his head. Nearly thirty years of marriage and he still hasn't gotten used to Vixy's telepathy in his mind.

"I know that honey." James replied as he got an Interceptor in his crosshairs, and got a direct hit. "You'd think he'd know by now to keep that crap off the battlefield."

"Look who's talking James. We're talking about our son right now in the middle of a dogfight."

"The difference sweetie is that I can multitask. Just like this." James said as he fired another shot, hitting the second Interceptor with ease.

"Not bad, but you forgot about something."

James turned around and glared at Vixy. "What are you talking about?"

Without even blinking Vixy pushed a button and James felt one of their missiles fire. James watches it fly straight towards an approached Interceptor approaching their right that he didn't even noticed. The missile hits the Interceptor, blowing it out of the sky.

"You didn't notice the approaching moron on our right side."

Without saying a word, James grabbed the controls and continued to fly. Vixy has always known how to counter James. James knew that when this happens it's best to just shut up. He goes back to concentrate on the dogfight.

Falco locked onto another Interceptor and fired, his aim was true, as usually. He always got a bit of a satisfaction watching the enemy fighters explode. Doing it with his old team makes him feel good. That was, until Falco looked to the left and saw Slippy in his usual situation.

"Hey Slippy, you know you got some apes and lizards on your slimy butt right?" Falco joked as he banked to help Slippy.

"Hey leave me alone." Slippy screamed as he did his best to evade.

"Don't worry Slippy I got you."

Falco got behind the three Interceptors chasing Slippy and locked onto the middle one. He charged a shot and fired. Falco was rewarded with a gratifying explosion, destroying one Interceptor and damaging the other two. Falco turns towards the right Interceptor and fired a shot, getting a good hit.

"Save one for me Falco." Slippy shouted as he banked around to catch the remaining Interceptor.

"Alright frog boy, the last one is yours." Falco replies and pulled away from his chase.

Falco keeps an eye on Slippy. It took Slippy much longer than Falco had hoped for the toad to get behind the Interceptor. Even then it took Slippy six shots to get a good hit.

"I guess Slippy's spent a little too much time tinkering with his inventions." Falco thought.

James feels Vixy tap him on the shoulder. He turns around to see a worried look on her face. "James, our son has Interceptors on his tail."

James looks towards his right to see Fox indeed being chased by tow Interceptors, and barely avoiding their fire. James knows they are out of Vixy's missile range to lock onto them.

"Then let's give our son a hand." James said with a smile as he turns the TurboArwing towards Fox.

James and Vixy fly across the battlefield towards their son, dodging laser fire. What remains of the Venom Interceptors, which is very few, try to land a blow on the TubroArwing, but James easily dodges every shot while Vixy tries to get a clean shot.

"Close enough babe?" James asks as he spins to avoid another shot fired from an Interceptor right front of him. James fires and destroys the Interceptor before Vixy responds.

"Just now in range."

Fox nearly jumps at the sound of the TubroArwing's minigun going off. He looks behind him to see both Interceptors chasing his tail.

"Thanks mom, dad for saving my tail. Sorry that you had to see such bad flying. I didn't mean to be like Slippy."

"Hey . . . I heard that." Slippy shouts.

"That's what parents do son, bail their kids out of trouble."

Fox banks to the right to get a better view of the dogfight. Very few Venom Interceptors remain. Those that are left are starting to retreat.

"Every man for themselves." Cartman shouts as he turns his Interceptor around and flees. The remaining Interceptors follow his example.

"Look at those lizard cowards run away like their tails are on fire." Falco laughs.

Fox looks to his right to see the TurboArwing fly up beside him. "So how does it feel to be back in action?"

"Feels good son." Vixy answers. "It's been way too long."

"And you're a pretty good pilot Fox." James complements. "But you still got a lot to learn."

Jeremiah, Venom Science Lab

"Dr. Sterns we're under attack." A Venom guard screams as he runs into the lab.

All eyes turn to the screaming lizard, causing everyone in the lab to panic, that is everyone except Dr. Sterns. He grabs the lizard's collar and slaps him across the face.

"Get a hold of yourself soldier." Dr. Sterns shouts, trying to calm down the soldier. "Tell me what happened."

It takes a minute for the guard to gather his thoughts. "Two hours ago our radars detected two outside ships stationed just barely outside of our safe zone. It took a while but we identified one of them as the Great Fox. The other we believe to be the Spectra."

"Oh great, that means Star Ghost is on to us. I cannot allow them to get their hands on my two experiments." Dr. Sterns thinks. "Maybe it's time I activate one of them."

The lizard continues. "So we called in a squadron of Interceptors to catch them off guard. But they were too late. Reports show that Star Fox ambushed and eliminated them. Command believes that Star Ghost is on their way. We don't stand a chance. What do we do to stop them?"

"Get out now, everyone out." Dr. Stern orders. "Unless you have a classified tag get out."

Everyone but Dr. Sterns and his assistant leave the room. The assistant walks to Dr. Sterns confused.

"Sir, what are we going to do? Star Ghost has a reputation for appearing out of nowhere and destroying everything in their path. How can we stop them?"

"Simple, by having an unbreakable defense. That's where one of my experiments comes in." Dr. Stern answers.

"But sir, the Cerinian clone isn't ready. She'll kill us the moment we unlock the door."

"I wasn't talking about that experiment." Dr. Sterns said as he walked over to a bare wall and pulled a lever.

Two hidden doors open revealing a hidden room, shows something that the assistant wishes he hadn't seen. Lying on an operating is what appears to be the very own Fox McCloud, wearing nothing more than a pair of boxers and apparently sound asleep.

"Dr. Stern, what is that thing?" His assistant asks. "It looks just like Fox McCloud."

"That's the idea my boy. This little experiment is something that Andross ordered we do. I gotta say that it is one of my most prized experiment, even more than the clone."

"But what is this thing doctor?"

"Living Clone of Fox McCloud with a programmed mind. I call it Fox 2.0." Dr. Stern says with a smile. "His brain can process what information from senses 5x faster than any living person. His muscles were trimmed back slightly but allowed a much more aerodynamics and can move faster than any living creature. His bones were augmented to have density of steel while maintain average weight. His nervous system has been augmented not to feel pain and therefore removes the inhibitions and flinches that come from it. He has a minor healing factor that fixes minor wounds like burns or sprains. He is emotionless and therefore does not feel fear or danger. He is cunning by design and will retreat in overwhelming situations or wait for the perfect opportunity."

"Why would Andross order such a thing?"

Dr. Sterns smiles. "Simple, to eliminate anyone he deems a threats. His primary objective is to kill Fox McCloud. His second objective is to eliminate Star Ghost. Andross wants them dealt with as soon as possible. "Dr. Sterns turns his assistant. "Let's turn him on.

Dr. Sterns walks to the control board and flips the switch. Instantaneously, the creation comes to life. His eyes shot open, revealing a strange green set of eyes. Without saying a word, Fox 2.0 effortlessly breaks his constraints, jumps off the table, and stands in front of Dr. Sterns waiting for his orders.

"Fox 2.0, we have enemies closing in on our position. Eliminate them."

"Yes master."

Fox 2.0 walks emotionlessly to a table with three weapons placed on top. The first is a customized blaster pistol, based off of Fox McCloud's design. The second is a short double – edged sword, with a hidden ability designed by Dr. Sterns to reflect lasers. The third is a kusarigama. Fox 2.0 picks them up hangs them on his body. He walks out the door leaving Dr. Sterns and his assistant behind.

"I'd hate to be Star Ghost right now." Dr. Sterns assistant says.

A sadistic smile crosses Dr. Sterns face. "That's why I designed Fox 2.0. He's going to destroy them."

To be continued.

Johnny and Fara finally got some release, and Triton and Elizabeth are finally back together. But just as things were going good their cover is blown. Star Fox managed to take out Jeremiah's air forces while Star Ghost is heading down towards the surface. What awaits for them on Jeremiah?
