I don't own Sailor moon

Chapter 12

Serena didn't have it in her. She took off her heels and started running as soon as she and Seiya reached the hospital. The blonde spotted a familiar face. "MOLLY!" Serena didn't recognize her own voice at this point. She was losing her marbles. She almost tackled her husband's receptionist. The ginger paled at the sight of her longtime friend.

"She's alive Serena, room 343. Dr. Shields is in there." Molly spat out quickly. She knew it was a crisis and didn't bother with formality. The ginger knew how close Serena and Rei had been since junior high. She wouldn't let hospital procedures get between them when Rei was in trouble. Serena always came and helped during times of need. The receptionist huffed in her seat.

"Thank you." The blue eyed model breathed out. She continued running towards the said room, knowing the hospital well enough to navigate through it. Serena found the room in no time and almost let out a gasp when the door was opened for her. She had forgot all about Seiya. He had come with her and kept up with her pace the entire time. She felt selfish but decided now wasn't the time for that. The blue eyed couple walked in a huge hospital room.

Rei was banged up badly. She had bruises everywhere and stitches in her head. One look at her and Serena knew it was bad, they had operated. A noticeable amount of her beautiful raven locks was shaved off and replaced by bandages. The blonde rushed to the girl's side. She was the only one in there. Serena took Rei's purple hand and let some tears out. "Rei…" She then noticed a beautiful diamond ring on her best friend's hand.

"No." She let out.

"What?" Seiya didn't understand the blonde's apparent confusion.

Serena smiled sadly, "She was late because he proposed." She examined the woman's ring finger. A princess cut engagement ring. The exact one Rei had always wanted. Rei wanted a family forever. Being orphaned at such a young age, the promoter and Serena became family at a super young age. Serena's mother basically took Rei in when they were teenagers and Rei's grandfather had died. The two girls were like family more than friends.

The sound of a man clearing their throat got Serena's attention, the blonde looked up into the blue eyes she had known for years, "Darien…" her voice croaked. Her husband said nothing as he took his petite wife's form in his, holding her tightly.

He said calmly, "She had the best care, I did everything I could have Sere. She'll be okay. We're waiting for her to recover from the surgery. She had some minor cuts and bruises. She had some internal bleeding as well, but we managed to stop the bleeding. She'll live." Darien pulled away from his wife. And he looked down, this time his voice changed from Doctor Shields to her husband's. "That was one of the worst calls I have ever gotten, she… she lost a lot of blood. I had to do everything I could to save her." His voice was sincere.

"Thank you Darien." Serena whispered, letting the tears flow freely. He had saved one of the most important people in her life. "Where is Chad?" Serena questioned. This room was surely big enough for the both of them. Darien would have kept them together too.

Darien took his wife's hand tenderly. "Chad wasn't as lucky Serena. From the report he died on impact. He died… protecting Rei. The car was out of control and they were headed towards a tree head on. He last second turned the wheel so he took the hit on on the driver's side."

"What do you mean?" Serena was hysteric. "I have to see him." She stood up from Rei's side and started towards the door to be stopped Darien.

"You can't." Darien stood up. "His body… Serena I don't know how to say this without being graphic. He was impaled by a branch and that's what killed him. It didn't get to Rei because he shielded her from it."

"He can't be dead." She cried. The blonde felt torn up she held so much sympathy for Rei. The girl would be heart broken when she awoke. "They were going to get married." She sniffled softly.

Darien led his wife outside to his office, he noticed the man following her. He hadn't said a word since being there. The blue eyed man took out his hand, "Sorry to introduce myself this way, I'm Darien Shields." He explained politely.

Seiya studied the man's hand cautiously before shaking it. "Seiya Kou," he muttered. Seiya was in his head right now. He wouldn't allow his feelings to show through right now when Serena was a mess. Both men had grim faces on.

"So you work with my wife?" Darien attempted to make small talk. He didn't actually care about what this guy did. But he did care about who his wife surrounded herself with. Although the relationship was strictly business, Darien found a reason to distrust this man. He didn't trust any man around his wife to be fair. It was hard to for him. He felt possessive of Serena, she was his.

"Seiya and I will be working together for the next few weeks Darien, I told you before." Serena cut in. Her tone was weak, she felt exhausted already. How could Darien ask such stupid questions when her best friend was in this hospital? She wanted to talk about important things, she wanted him to comfort her. "I think Rei would want us talking about her don't you think?" her voice was effortlessly cold, not holding any warmth. Without another word, she gracefully left her husband's office upset. She knew Darien, he always did this when another man came around. He wasn't being polite; he was sizing them up. She knew his game.

Serena kept walking, she knew the hospital very well, but she felt lost. She needed someone to comfort her and to talk about the little things. Before she knew it Serena was in a wing she wasn't all too sure about. The model collapsed to her knees. She didn't think life could become much worse for her at this point. She wanted to talk to Rei. She still had to inform the others too, that wouldn't be an easy feat. The blonde had to keep it together for everyone else's sake. Serena looked down at her feet realizing she left her heels in Darien's office.

"Hey…" Seiya spoke softly, his smile was light and his eyes showed concern. He bent down to get to eye level with the girl. "You're going to make it." He looked her in the eye, meaning it. She didn't have a chance to say anything before she noticed he had her heels. He placed them on her dainty feet effortlessly. "Look, I won't pretend to know what is going on with you and him, but that was not okay. So, lets get out of here and talk." He stood back up and offered his hand.

The blonde looked up at him, her eyes shining. She couldn't believe that he was being so sweet to her. He didn't have to say much, but the effort was appreciated. She gave him a milky hand, and he pulled her back up.

Serena hiccupped… She did not get drunk that often but she was wasted. Her and Seiya headed to a convenient store and bought some wine. She was giggling childishly continuing her story. "He was so mean to me…" She tripped over her own feet, glad Seiya was supporting her weight and causing her to not fall.

The two were telling each other stories of relationships past. Seiya was shocked to know Serena had only had one, with Darien. Serena was shocked that Seiya had so many. She was impressed by the amount of girls he had said no to. But she wasn't surprised either, being famous could get that for you. Serena found Seiya's stories to be mean and funny. There was a heart breaker in the mix of his girlfriends. Seiya told her about a girl he had been in love with. He didn't say much other than that she went away. Serena didn't press on the issue, and decided to tell her how Darien and she got together.

The two were strolling through a park together, there was a lake nearby and Serena decided she wanted to see the ducks and stars. She licked her lips, "I don't even get it, he was so mean and then he kissed me…" She looked off and sighed. "It was the best kiss of my life." Her hand found her own lips and she touched them gently. Serena sighed and she looked up at Seiya. Her sky blue eyes met his jean blue ones. "It was sort of like this…" she whispered slowly. She tugged Seiya's shirt, leaned up, getting on her tippy toes to try to reach him. She closed her eyes, and slightly pulled him into her. Seiya placed his hands on the girl's waist and closed in.

The kiss itself was soft. She could smell his cologne under the wine stench. She wasn't used to the way his nose pressed up against her face, it wasn't the same as Darien's. She didn't know the shape of his lips. She didn't know how this man liked to be kissed. It was just a soft peck, after all. It couldn't be that bad. She felt her stomach do flip flops, and her heart skip a beat, her palms became sweaty at the kiss. She suddenly felt hot.

Seiya pulled her in closer, he didn't know if he was losing control or if he actually wanted this. The singer lightly grazed his tongue against her lips, asking for permission. Serena simply followed his lead, and slightly opened her mouth.

Before the two knew it they were both battling for control, kissing like mad men. Serena couldn't take it anymore. Her hands explored his chest and traced their way down to his waistline. She felt the warmth in her belly, and the desire in her eyes was easily seen. She pulled apart from the singer momentarily.

The duo looked into each other's eyes knowing what a dangerous path this could lead to. Serena's blue eyes were painted with lust. Her lips were swollen, and her breath hitched. Her hands were still toying with his pants waist line. Seiya bit his lip, trying to hold in everything he could. He knew somewhere deep down that this wasn't right. This was not how he should treat a lady, a married one at that. Serena deserved more than a drunken night in the park.

"We have to stop." He breathed out slowly. He couldn't believe he was saying that. He couldn't believe he was denying this girl right now. He wanted her without a doubt, but he wasn't the type of man to take advantage of her. She was in a weak emotional state and being drunk she couldn't make that decision right now.

Serena felt like cold water had been dumped on top of her head, but she nodded and understood completely.
