Flashback...

Bou-san cut her off and said, "I've got nothing against you, Mai but please don't interfere this is between me and this young man." He then turned to Naru, "As for you mister, how dare you? How dare you? How dare you..."

...Flashback

-oOo-

"How dare you keep from me that you're the Dr. Oliver Davis? I have been dreaming of seeing you all my life, why? Why?" Bou-san kneeled in front of Naru's bed bawled at him. This shocked Naru to the core, he thought that Bou-san would be mad at him and he was entitled to it. But here he was kneeling and bawling at him for not telling him that he is the famous Dr. Oliver Davis.

Before he could react, Bou-san suddenly exclaimed, "Ouch! What the hell do you think you're doing you old hag?" Naru blinked and realized that in his shock he didn't notice the others were all present as well and were standing by the door way. Considering Ayako was also in the room and currently hitting Bou-san with her purse.

"You idiot, stop acting like a child who wasn't given the toy he wanted during Christmas." Ayako exclaimed and she turned her attention towards Naru and ordered, "Naru, close your mouth and stop looking like a fish gaping out of water."

Naru closed his mouth and tried to open it again to speak but nothing came out. Yasuhara had a Cheshire grin on his face and started teasing Naru "Well, well, well. I never thought that I would get to witness the day big boss in a state of shock and speechless."

Naru finally found his voice, when the shock wore off, "Aren't you mad at mad me for lying and keeping secrets? I'll understand perfectly well if you are, it is within your rights to do so."

Bou-san snorted then answered, "And here I thought you were smart but I guess the term idiot scientist suits you quite well. Ask you about a theories and research and you'll answer like a walking encyclopedia but when it comes to emotional things you're a sitting duck. Did you really think we would be here talking to if we were truly angry at you. Because I for one tend to punch people or things when I'm really angry."

"Shibuya-san, we have no right to get mad at you for hiding things about yourself from us. Everyone here would agree with me and say that any person has the right to remain silent about their personal lives. It would have taken quite a deal of trust for you to be able to tell something quite personal. And for this, I hope you can forgive us for eaves dropping on your conversation with Mai." John said this with his head bowed low. The others agreeing with John's explanation.

Mai, who was seated on Naru's bed, exclaimed, "I told you, didn't I? That everything would be alright."

Naru looked at each of them and they were all smiling at him. Naru then saw Lin and Madoka standing by the door way, they were smiling as well. "Thank you for understanding and I really didn't expect for you to find out this way, I planned on informing you all after I've told it to Mai."

Before they could comment or make teasing remarks, an elderly nurse came in, "I'm sorry to interrupt but I have to request all of you to leave, visiting hours is now over and the patient needs to rest." She then left the room to make her other rounds.

"Well, I guess we will just come and visit tomorrow." Madoka commented, quite relieved that things went well.

"She will you be discharged Naru-bou?" Bou-san asked the young man who was actually his idol, Dr. Davis himself.

Lin was the one to answer, "The doctor said that he would remain here in the hospital for tonight, then will be discharged by morning tomorrow." After Lin informed them, the nurse came back and ushered them out of the room. With them bidding their farewell to Naru as they left. Naru was left alone in his room, a heavy weight lifted from his shoulders from knowing that the people whom he started to consider important to him, albeit annoying at times, has forgiven him and would remain by his side. That night Naru had a peaceful sleep, with his dreams about a certain brunette assistant of his.

-oOo-

The next day, Naru was discharged from the hospital. The doctor's orders were for him to take it easy for a week before he would be allowed to travel by plane. Mai along with the rest of SPR and Lin's siblings were waiting for Naru and Lin at the parking lot.

When they saw the two nearing them, they smiled with Bou-san shouting, "What took you both so long?"

Lin answered, "Forgive us, the doctor gave final orders for Naru. As he cannot strain himself for a week, you would have to stay in Hong Kong for the duration, before you guys could head back to Japan.

Kourin cheered, "Alright, since that's the case then I guess will just have to give you the long overdue tour I've promised to you guys." This earned excited reactions from everyone with Naru sighing in resignation. Though he'll let them have their fun since he owes them anyway.

-oOo-

With that they all went their separate ways, Naru and Lin returned back to the Lin clan compound, since Naru wanted to talk with Houki about Mai's training once they return to Japan. The men and women separated into groups, with Keiki bringing the guys to show them around since they rather go look at the tourist spots and scenery over carrying shopping bags. Kourin on the other hand, led the ladies to the spa and shopping districts.

Kourin turned to the ladies as they stood in front of an establishment, "This is the best spa house here in Hong Kong, I'm sure that you girls would love it." Kourin went to the reception desk and asked for the full package, meaning herbal baths to full makeovers.

When they finished, all the ladies felt relaxed and well rested. Mai commenting, "The spa felt really great, all the aches and tensions in my body are now gone."

Masako nodded her head in agreement, "Yes, it was very relaxing indeed. With everything that happened so far, it is good to be able to relax once in a while."

Mai looked at her aunt, "So where are we going next?" Kourin, Ayako and Madoka had glints in their eyes, which didn't bode well for both Mai and Masako. What the three said next made the two look horrified and were as pale as death. There voices rang out like an ominous presence, "We're going shopping!"

-oOo-

The ladies shopped til they dropped and were all currently seating in one of Kourin's favorite cafe to have lunch and rest their feet. All of them quite have a lot of shopping bags with Mai owning a new set of wardrobe care off Kourin, Ayako and Madoka.

They were chatting about things, when Kourin exclaimed, "Oh my! I nearly forgot, there would be a festival tonight in town square. I was wondering if you would like to go."

They looked at each other and nodded, "We would love to go to the festival."

-oOo-

While the girls were shopping, the guys enjoyed touring around the town and had gone through some stores to buy some souvenirs and what not, but not as many as the ladies had. They ate lunch in a Spanish restaurant, Bou-san suddenly asked, "Hey, I just saw a poster outside, what was that about?"

Keiki blinked, "Hmm, now that I think of it, there will be a fireworks festival later in the evening. Would you guys like to go? I'm sure Kourin would take the others as well."

Bou-san looked at his companions, who just shrugged at him, turning to Keiko he said, "Sure, why not. we don't have anything to do for a while, with Naru-bou still prohibited from doing anything strenuous."

-oOo-

When they finished, Kourin began touring them around place as they chatted with each other. Mai suddenly asked, "Aunt Kourin, when is your and uncle Keiki's birthday, as well as Grandma and Otou-san's birthday? I've been meaning to ask Otou-san, but it kept slipping from my mind with all the things that happened."

Kourin looked at her niece "Mine and Keiki's are on the 8th of September, Koujo's is on the 12th of July, and Mother's is on the 3rd of March." As she finished answering Mai's question, she suddenly stopped in her tracks which startled the others and they thought that something was wrong. Kourin then snapped her towards Mai's direction, "Oh my, you have been here in Hong Kong for so long and we haven't even manage to ask you things about yourself like your likes, dislikes, hobbies and dreams let alone your birthday."

"It's alright Aunt Kourin, with everything going on, it is only natural for it to slip our minds. I'm at much fault as you are. And as for when my birthday is, it's on the 8th of April." Mai said with a smile on her face.

"How wonderful, your birthday is in spring. It is such a wonderful season to celebrate." Kourin commented while making a note to herself about having a heart to heart talk with Mai. With that they resumed their conversation about many things some made Mai blush, mostly the part about her crush.

-oOo-

They all returned back to the compound to prepare for the festival. Houki greeted them from the door way, "Welcome back, I hope you enjoyed your day. From what I've heard with your conversation you are planning to head to the fireworks festival tonight, am I right?"

Mai nodded at her grandmother with a grin on her face, "It was really fun going around town, aunt Kourin brought us first to a spa and them we went shopping. I wished you were able to come with us grandma. We did decide to go to the festival, will you come with us grandma?"

Houki smiled at Mai's exuberance, "I'm glad you had fun Mai. I wish I could come along with you but alas I have to stay behind here in the compound with most of the elders gone as well." Mai's face fell at what Houki just said, she wanted to spend some time with her grandmother. Houki seeing Mai's crestfallen expression patted Mai's head, "How about we go and get some tea while you tell me more about yourself. I'll help you as well to find clothes for the festival. How about it, would you like that my sweet girl?" Mai smiled at Houki and nodded her head, Houki returned her smile as well. The other women just watched in affection, as they watched Mai happily chatter.

-oOo-

While Mai and the other women were drinking tea as well as eating some of the snacks they bought in town, Lin's voice was heard, "I heard your voices, when did you get back?"

Mai answered happily, "Ah, otou-san, we've been back just a few minutes ago. Where have you been? I didn't see either you or Naru when we got back."

Lin answered, "Naru and I were in the study discussing some things with Shinji on how your training would go once we're back in Japan, we only went out to see if any of you were back and heard your voices."

Mai nodded at his answer then exclaimed, "Oh right, otou-san, would you, Naru and Shinji-san come with us to the festival?"

Lin nodded his head, "Yes, that's why I wanted to see if you guys were back to invite you to the festival but it seems you already knew. Which reminds me, where are the others? Weren't day with you?" Kourin answered that they separated and Keiki ended up showing the guys around town and they should be back soon. As she said those words, the people in question arrived. The chatter rising in volume.

Naru looked at where Lin was talking to Mai, he smiled at the sight of her so excited. Shinji saw this and commented, "You care for her, don't you?"

Naru didn't turn away from looking at Mai but answered Shinji nonetheless, "Yes, I do care for her, with everything I have."

"Are you really sure that I would be the best person to train her?" Shinji asked still in disbelief that they'll trust him with training Mai or just trust him at all so easily.

Naru sighed, "Yes, I am perfectly sure you are very capable of training her. Mai is already comfortable with you and agreed for you to train, so it's just futile to look for someone else."

"But…" Shinji tried to protest but Naru silenced him with a glare, "It's final, you would be the one to train Mai so quit being an idiot in bringing yourself down. Honestly, the two of you are really like two peas in a pod with your idiocy."

Before Shinji could say anything, Lin was with them saying, "As much as I don't condone Naru's manners, I'll agree with him that you should stop bringing yourself down. You would be the one training Mai. I believe this line of questioning from you stems down to why we trust you. The answer to that would be because of the girl you are going to train and leave it at that for now." Lin then looked at the women who were heading to their rooms to prepare, looking at Naru and Shinji, who was about to speak, but Lin cut him off, "I know how important to you this conversation is, but we really need to prepare before we get an earful from the women. With how excited they are, I fear that we'll and being manhandled by my sister and Madoka. We still have plenty of time to discuss this."

Shinji was still unsure but Naru's voice cut in like a knife, "I told you to stop being an idiot. Let's just go prepare." Naru said impassively but you could see how rigid his form is and the way his eyes twitch that he was rearing to go.

Shinji just raised a brow at the two usually stoic men, since they were fidgeting and looking around as though the devil himself was after them, "You're not serious are you, it might not be that bad and your just trying to pull my leg."

Naru started walking towards his room, not wanting to wait for Madoka to come out, "If you do not want to believe us then suit yourself and wait for them. I for one grew up with Madoka being my teacher and if what Lin says about his sister having a character like Madoka's then I'd rather not be here. I do not have a death wish."

Shinji blinked at Naru's comment, he then realize the two were not the type to joke around about things and if the both of them were afraid then he has no chance of surviving, none at all. Paling he gave an audible gulp, "I think, I'll go and prepare."

Shinji didn't know that his decision saved him from a terrible faith, only finding out a few minutes later what would have happened to him, if he didn't heed the two's warning. Bou-san's yell was heard throughout the house, "What the hell is wrong with you women, the festival isn't still until seven."

"Oh shut up! and just go and change we want to find the perfect spot for us to see the festival." Ayako shouted while hitting him on the head with her beaded bag.

-oOo-

They all left the house with thirty minutes to spare before the festival begins, a grumbling Bou-san was trailing after them as they headed towards town square to watch the fireworks display. They were all in awe by the different color, shapes and sizes of the fireworks.

After the fireworks display ended, they went around to see some of the booths. Bou-san went ahead to search for a food booth since he was hungry, a grumbling Ayako following him, "Do you only think about food, you stupid monk?"

Madoka and Yasuhara plotting things here and there as well as taking pictures of the team. Lin, Keiki and Kourin were walking together just talking about things, about life in general and just spend time together since they haven't done it in a while. Masako was looking at some of the different trinkets. John and Shinji were in conversing with each other. Mai and Naru were at the back of the group, walking in companionable silence. Mai then tripped with Naru steadying her, "Be careful you idiot." Mai blushed at being held by Naru, in a shy voice thanked the man. As they started walking again, the crowd started to thicken, Mai's petite frame was easily pushed by the crowd but Naru's grip on her hand prevented her from being separated with him, "Come on, before we get left behind by the others." Mai blushed at their joined hands

They all had fun looking around and playing some of the games. When midnight final came, they all agreed that it was time for them to head back. When they reach the compound, they all bid each other good nights and headed towards their own rooms to get some shut eye.

Mai was walking around, since she couldn't get some sleep. Looking out through a window, she saw Naru standing outside. She headed towards him, "Naru." He turned around when he heard his name being called and saw Mai standing behind him.

"What are you still doing up? Shouldn't you be asleep right now?" He asked the girl though he didn't mind the company.

"I should be asking you that question as well. I tried going to sleep but I just kept on tossing around my bed." Mai answered with a small smile on her face.

The both of them were sitting under a plum tree, looking at the stars in companionable silence. After a few minutes of doing so, Naru felt a weight on his shoulders. He turned and saw Mai was asleep, he smiled at the sight of her resting peacefully. He carried her to her room, he laid her down on the bed and kissed her on the forehead, "Goodnight and sweet dreams Mai."

Naru left Mai's room and headed for his own, he laid down with thoughts of a certain brunette in his mind and without realizing it had dose off. The both of them dreaming about the other, unaware that in England, a certain woman who goes by the name of Luella Davis would be making an appearance.
