Part 2: Chapter 12: Parent's Day

Lily Potter was not pleased.

The Great Hall was practically in ruins with golden Quidditch hoops on either end. A group of first and second years were huddled in the center of the room, Harry among them, holding a Quaffle and the Snitch. James, Sirius, Adriel, Frank, Arthur, and even Remus were holding armfuls of brooms and giving her guilty expressions. A few other parents were scattered around the room, nervous looks on their faces, Elsa among them. Looking closely, Lily could see Abigail and John were chasing what looked like a snowman around Elsa's legs.

Lily turned to her husband.

"James…"

"...Yes, dear?"

"What happened here?"

"Ah… You see..."

"Well," Sirius interrupted, "it's actually a very interesting story…"

It was the annual Hogwarts Parents Day. Every year, around early October, Hogwarts invited the parents of first and second year students to Hogwarts. This was meant to help the children relax after getting used to the castle and to reassure the parents that their children were safe and well cared for. Third years and up were welcome to invite their families to Hogsmeade weekends, so there was no need for a Parents Day after that.

Aside from James, Frank and Alice Longbottom were probably the most excited about Parents Day. After getting tortured into insanity, they were taken straight to St. Mungo's only for Elsa to secretly find them and heal them with her tears. The news that Frank and Alice were so quickly healed after being tortured like they were made headlines around the Wizarding World. After a while, the press got so bad that Frank and Alice took their young son, Neville, into hiding for a few years to escape the swarms of reporters and let their fame die down a bit. They came out of hiding a couple of years ago for Neville to go to Hogwarts.

The group for Parents Day this year was quite the sight. James and Lily were there as well as Frank and Alice. Sirius had managed to get permission to come with, being Harry's godfather, and dragged Remus along as a guest. Arthur and Molly Weasley, friends of the Potter family and with two kids in their first two years, were there. And, of course, Elsa, Anna, and Adriel were there with John, who was excited to see his cousin.

But, what no one else saw was what Elsa was smuggling into the castle. Years ago, while testing the wonders of her snow powers with Anna, she accidentally created a living snowman! They named the snowman Olaf and, over the years, he became a beloved playmate to Abigail and John. Elsa smiled. Olaf visiting would be a big surprise for Abigail.

Lily, meanwhile, was giving The Marauders the same speech as last year's Parent's Day.

"Now, there won't be any trouble, right?"

"Yes, Lily…"

"And you're going to be good role models to the children, especially Harry, right?"

"Yes, Lily…"

"And no pranking Snape, right?"

"Yes, Oh Great Mistress…"

"Sirius!"

"Yes, Lily?" the Marauder in question asked, smiling innocently. He couldn't see what was wrong with pranking Snape. After that Halloween, Lily had mended her relationship with Severus Snape and insisted that the Marauders apologize, which they did. Snape had accepted the apology, though reluctantly, which ushered in the era of the five being 'frenemies'. They sent each other friendly pranks and teasing letters every so often, which were checked by Lily to make sure neither side went overboard.

"No. Pranking. Snape."

"Not unless he starts it."

"JAMES!"

Elsa just rolled her eyes. Some things never changed. Especially when you considered the Marauders.

Finally, all the parents were ushered into the Great Hall. The various first and second years waiting there rushed towards their families, happily talking about all they had done at Hogwarts thus far. Harry rushed straight to James and Lily as Abigail wrapped herself around Elsa's legs.

"Mom! You came!"

"And why wouldn't I?" Elsa chuckled. "Could you and John come with me for a minute?"

Abigail nodded and followed Elsa to an abandoned classroom. Lily followed too, knowing what Elsa had brought.

Once Lily was out of sight and the other parents had dispersed to catch up on memories, James and Sirius turned to the group of kids, grinning.

"Alright, how many of you have ever played Quidditch?"

As Elsa led the way upstairs, giggling could be heard inside the room she hid Olaf in. Abigail looked at her mom.

"Mom...what did you bring to Hogwarts?"

"A little surprise for you," Elsa replied. "But it'll be coming back with me tonight." She opened the door. "Take a look."

Abigail nervously opened the door, and was immediately tackled by a white being, knocking her to the floor.

"Surprise!"

Abigail was surprised.

"Olaf! What are you doing here?"

"I thought you'd like to see him," Elsa said, chuckling at the snowman's energetic greeting. "He's missed you."

Olaf smiled.

"Plus I wanted to see the school...It's so big!"

He glanced around in awe.

"Now, Olaf," Elsa reminded, "No wandering off. We don't want you getting lost."

But Olaf wasn't listening. He immediately started running down the stairs to the Great Hall. Abigail gasped.

"Olaf! Come back!"

She quickly ran after him, Elsa and John hot on her heels.

Meanwhile, Olaf entered the kitchens, smelling all the food.

"Oh, it smells so good in here! Oh! There's little people working here! Hi, everyone! I'm Olaf and I like warm hugs!"

All the house elves inside stared at him. One of them stepped forward.

"I is Dizzy. What does Master Olaf wishes?"

Olaf was puzzled.

"Oh, I'm not a master of anything. Maybe a master of Summer...or not...I'm not sure. I was just exploring."

Another elf poked him to see what he was made of. Olaf giggled.

"That tickles!"

The elf looked at Dizzy.

"Master Olaf is snow…"

"Snow?" Dizzy asked, a bit alarmed.

"Yeah," Olaf smiled, pointing above his head where a snow flurry hovered. "Elsa built me and gave me this! Well, I'd better go and explore some more. Nice to meet you guys!"

Olaf waddled out of the kitchens waving goodbye before turning left into the corridor.

"Ooh...cute statue!"

A loud 'shling' was heard as the statue pulled out a sword.

"Not cute! Definitely not cute!"

Olaf ran the opposite direction, passing the open door to the kitchen, followed by an unhappy knight.

As Olaf was trying to escape, James, Sirius, Remus, and Adriel were transfiguring some Quidditch hoops on either side of the Great Hall while Frank and Arthur disappeared to the Quidditch pitch to get brooms for everyone.

"Guys, are you sure this is a good idea?"

"Moony, stop worrying. We'll have these down before Lily gets back."

"Padfoot's right. She'll be talking with Elsa for a while. They do things like this all the time. We'll do one game and have things back in order long before she sees anything."

Remus sighed.

"Okay..if you say so…"

"What is going on here?" a voice drawled. "A friendly game of indoor quidditch, Potter?"

James instantly froze solid, and gulped, before turning around.

"Snape...hey...um...what are you doing here?"

Snape strode forward, his black cape swooshing behind him.

"Professor Dumbledore specifically asked me to keep an eye on the…." he paused, glancing at the hoops against the far wall. "...festivities...Now then…..shall we begin?" He asked, a twinkle in his eye.

Sirius grinned. "Why, Snape, so nice of you to volunteer to play! We were trying to decide on captains anyways!"

Snape pursed his lips.

"Might I suggest adding one of my own students to this match?"

"We weren't going to exclude any Slytherins," Remus reassured. "Right, guys?"

James nodded.

"The thought never even crossed my mind. So...who do you want to add, Snape?"

Snape raised an eyebrow, but stepped aside, revealing Draco Malfoy. Draco smirked at Harry.

"Potter…"

Harry smirked back.

"Malfoy…"

Remus sighed to himself. There went the hope of keeping the Great Hall intact…

Back in the depths of the castle, Elsa and Abigail were searching for Olaf, talking about Hogwarts.

"How have your classes been?" Elsa asked.

Abigail smiled.

"They been great. Professor Binns is a bit…."

"Boring?" Elsa asked.

Abigail nodded.

"Yeah."

"He was like that when I was here," Elsa chuckled. "How about some of your other classes? Transfiguration? Potions?"

Abigail was about to start when she saw Olaf dash across the the corridor, the knight still chasing him.

"Please don't tell me that what I just saw was real," groaned Elsa, facepalming.

"Okay. I won't. But I saw it too," Abigail sighed.

Elsa shook her head and ran down the hallway after Olaf, Abigail following. Elsa pulled out her wand, and aimed it at the Knight.

"Immobulus!"

The knight froze in mid-stride. But due it's frozen pose, it not longer had any balance and toppled over, breaking into multiple pieces. Abigail called out.

"Olaf! Are you okay?"

"I'm okay!" He called back. He climbed over the knight, and coughed on the dust. As the dust cleared, Abigail and Elsa gasped. Olaf's body had been totally mixed up. His head was now his stomach, and his lower half was on top of his head. His carrot nose was on top of his lower half and his arms stuck out of the sides.

"Um...did you guys get taller?"

"More like you got shorter," Elsa replied.

"Hang on."

Abigail went to his side and rearranged his body.

"Ah, that's much better," Olaf sighed.

Elsa chuckled.

"Now, Olaf, what did I say about wandering off?"

"To not to," Olaf replied, looking down at the floor.

"Come on, you three," Elsa said, taking John's hand. "Let's head back to that classroom."

"But what about the statue," Olaf said glancing back at the rubble.

"It'll be alright. One of the house elves can fix it and put it back."

"Oh, I met them earlier," Olaf smiled, taking Elsa's hand. "They seem nice."

Meanwhile, Harry and Draco had started an all out war in the Great Hall. Banners had been torn from the walls, windows had been shattered. There were even a few chunks of stones missing from the walls themselves.

Everyone else was either in the middle of the war or watching with wide eyes from the ground. Remus was teaming up with Adriel, helping keep the people on the ground safe from the carnage.

"Who decided to put Harry on a broom while Draco was flying?" Remus asked in exasperation.

"Shut up, Moony!" called James from above as he was trying to calm Harry down.

Sirius, however, was...not on the same page as his fellow Marauder.

"Malfoy, get back here and face me like a man!"

Malfoy smirked.

"No thanks. I'd rather not be old for a couple more years!"

"Why you little…!" But he stopped when he saw what Harry was holding.

"Harry, you little devil! You caught the Snitch! Hah! You lose Malfoy!"

Draco frowned, gritting his teeth.

"My father will hear about this."

Sirius scoffed.

"Old Lucius doesn't scare me."

Just then a voice cried out.

"JAMES FLEAMONT POTTER!"

Everyone froze. There was Lily, her hands on her hips and a very, very angry scowl on her face. James slowly flew down, grinning awkwardly.

"Hi, Lily… How are you today?"

"What is going on here, James?"

As Lily started interrogating James, Sirius slowly started flying out…

"Accio Sirius Black," Remus called, sending Harry's godfather into James, who was right in front of him. The two fell over and landed on a pillow that Lily conjured.

Remus then tried to leave, but Lily stopped him with a stare.

"You're in trouble too, Remus, so don't even think about leaving. That goes for you too, Severus."

Snape seemed to pale even more than normal. Only the arrival of a giggling Olaf, followed by Abigail, John, and Elsa managed to break them out of their stupor. Times had definitely changed since their Hogwarts days.

The next day, all of the parents were getting ready to board the Hogwarts Express to head back to London, although there were some who apparated home or took Portkeys or the Floo Network. Elsa hugged her daughter tightly. Olaf stood next to Elsa, hugging Abigail's legs.

"You behave yourself, okay?"

"I will, Mom." She giggled. "Make sure Olaf doesn't wander too far."

Elsa rolled her eyes.

"More like tries to come back here. He loves the castle a bit too much, I think."

Olaf meanwhile was staring at the castle. Abigail giggled. Suddenly the Hogwarts Express whistled. Adriel came over and hugged his daughter.

"I got to go to work. The Ministry waits for no one."

He kissed her forehead. He turned to Elsa.

"I'll see you tonight. I love you."

He kissed Elsa before heading to the train.

"I love you too," she called you back.

Adriel waved as he climbed onto the train. The locomotive whistled once more before pulling out of Hogsmeade Station. Elsa smiled softly before turning to Olaf.

"Time to go, Olaf. Anna, Kristoff, John, you too."

"We're right here!" Anna smiled, Kristoff and John following behind. Anna hugged her niece and Kristoff did the same. Abigail hugged her cousin.

"I'll see you at Christmas."

"Same to you," replied John. He took his parents hands. Elsa smiled at her daughter once more before they disappeared with a snap.

Harry and Tom came over.

"What a Parents Day that was."

Tom nodded.

"I'm glad my parents were able to come. They may be Muggles, but I love them to pieces. We probably should head back. We have more classes to study for."

The three friends headed back to Hogwarts, unaware of the danger that lurked below it.

The next day, owls were sent out by the hundreds. They all contained the following short letter:

Parents of Hogwarts Students,

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Parents Day has been cancelled for the foreseeable future. You are welcome to continue to meet your children at Hogsmeade when they reach Third Year and afterwards.

Minerva McGonagall

Deputy Headmistress

One of the recipients of this letter was a Manor on the outskirts of Leeds, United Kingdom.

"JAMES!"
