Fooling the game maker

Derek's point of view:

After considerable thought about what Deaton said I was still slightly vague on the whole situation as it started with Peter and I highly doubt that he will be willing to help us defeat James. I couldn't exactly ask Scott up front what the plan was but I have a feeling he didn't really know whether it was going to work or not. If it was going to work then he would have told me what it was wouldn't he?

Nonetheless I wasn't able to give Stiles back his ring so I had to keep it a secret from him until Deaton tells me. This ring although can help but I will not let it kill Stiles especially if we have another plan which may or may not work. All I know is that we haven't lost the war as we still have Scott on our side as otherwise I would be dead by now. But I needed to know what the plan was so I can help.

Right now he was at work so I made my way to the clinic and busted straight through to the treatment room where Scott and Deaton were leaning over what seemed to look like some sort of book.

"Derek what are you doing here."

"What is your plan Scott?"

"I urm."

"I know you have one Deaton told me."

"He what? Look I don't even know whether it is going to work."

"Well what is it then as your boss said it is going to end how it started."

"I am going to bite him."

He had to be kidding me, there was no way that this was going to work.

"Sorry I thought you just said you were going to bite him."

"I did there is a myth that if a born werewolf is bitten it removes the werewolf gene and makes them human again."

"I don't think that will work Scott."

"We don't know myths and legends have come true before."

"But what you are saying is that you are going to bite an original werewolf in the hope that he will become a human."

"Yeah. This is why I didn't tell you as if it doesn't work only I will pay the price and not anyone else as they won't be involved."

"So when are you going to do it."

"It has to be on the next full moon and he has to be fully shifted for it to work."

"And how do you propose that this will happen."

"With a territory fight between two packs."

"And what if that fight ends in the death of someone."

"Then someone will die and I have a feeling I know who it will be unless I can keep him out of it."

"Stiles?"

"No tom."

"Why do you protect him?"

"It's my fault he is a werewolf and that all of this happened to him also he needs someone to look out for him. But if he does end up as a casualty I can't do anything to help him especially if my focus is my dad."

"Scott you can't protect everyone ad I think you are starting to realise that which is actually the only positive that has come from your dad being here. You need to decide who is the most important and who isn't so we know who to protect."

"I know and for now as long as tom isn't involved he is fine but Stiles is someone that we need to protect more than anyone. As he can't protect himself where Tom can."

"We could just give him the ring back or tell him what is going on."

"You really want to get him involved even though he did tell you what would happen didn't he."

"Yes but we need his help so I don't see why we don't just give him the ring back."

"No Deaton told you what would happen and I don't want him involved if he can't protect himself."

"Whatever Scott you do realise that you want us to go against your dad all so you can bite him on the next full moon how will you get him out of the apartment to fight us."

"Simply I will ask him."

"Of course why didn't I think of that?"

"Look he wants me to kill you all so if I say that I will on the next full moon but I need his back up of course he will by it."

"Look as long as you know what you are doing and I trust you alright but don't get yourself killed in order to save everyone else."

James' point of view:

Based on Scott's disappointing full moon and not knowing where he disappeared to I thought it would be best to check in on the ring as if he did manage to find it then I would have to come up with a new plan. As I made my way to the hale house I knew that someone had been here as the place reeked and it got stronger as I made my way underground.

When I got to the room I immediately noticed the smudged mountain ash in the centre of the room and then the missing ring, how an earth had he worked it was here. I know he had tried in the apartment but what an earth possessed him to think that it was here. Now it was definitely time for a different game plan.

There was no scent of stiles in the house meaning that he obviously didn't know what was going on so it would be perfect to stir things up with them a bit by getting stiles involved. Obviously I won't hurt him yet as he is still a part of my overall plan but for now I don't think a little kidnapping would go a miss.

Seeing as Scott was out and I don't think Tom actually cared if I was here or not I made my way to the Stilinski household and seeing as I knew which window was to Stiles' room I climbed up the side of the house and entered the room. Stiles although was asleep suddenly jolted up in his bed to see me standing at the end.

"Oh for God's sake."

"No just me."

"What do you want?"

"Well I suggest that you talk to your best mate and Derek."

"Why?"

"Well if you come with me."

"Willingly I doubt it."

"Okay."

I went up to him and punched him in the face so hard that I knocked him out and picked him up over my shoulders and made my way back home. I chucked him into the shifting room and I am pretty sure Scott will be able to smell him as soon as he enters the door. It wasn't too long before Scott got home and the look on his face as soon as entered was priceless.

"What is he doing here?"

"I just thought I would bring him up to speed with what is going on in your world. Such as where his magic ring is."

"Well that would help if we knew where it was as well."

"Don't lie to me Scott, I know you have it."

"No I don't have it."

"Whatever but if I were you I would go and talk to him before I go in and make things worse."

Scott's point of view:

He knows, he knows everything and now he plans to bring Stiles into it meaning that we had a month to protect Stiles before the next full moon. I went into the room to see him lying on the floor with a bloody nose and completely knocked out. I could see he was coming around so I sat him up against the wall.

"Stiles, are you okay."

"What are you hiding from me Scott?"

"Nothing look don't worry."

"Scott I don't trust that your dad won't hurt me so if you have something to tell me please do."

"Dad thinks that someone has found your ring but I don't have it."

"Who does?"

I pointed to me ears as I knew my dad was listening in to our conversation so I had to tell a convincing lie which didn't affect my heartbeat.

"I honestly don't know who has it Stiles but we will find it."

"So you don't know where it is."

"No I don't."

"Just let me go home Scott."

"I'll try."

I walked out of the room where my dad slowly moved away from the door contemplating on what he had just heard.

"So you really don't know where it is?"

"I told you but please let Stiles go as he has nothing to do with anything."

"Why should I let him go?"

"As I have made up my mind, I will kill the others to protect Stiles but it will be on the next full moon as I want to be the most ruthless I can be in order to stop me regretting any of it."

"I knew you would finally come around Scott."

"So did I."

"Now we have some preparation to do but first Scott we need the ring."

"I know that but I am sure when the time comes we will get it."

"If you are right then you might just save your best friend."

"Right about the ring?"

"No right about being able to kill the others."

"Don't worry someone will die that night."

Derek's point of view:

I honestly had very little faith in Scott's plan but I was in possession of the ring and I was going to use it to our advantage, I know Stiles and he would do anything to protect his friend especially Scott so if he is willing to use it then why not? As I was in the neighbour hood I thought I may as well pay him a visit to see what he has to say."

"Stiles."

"What do you want?"

"Well I have your ring and Deaton doesn't want me to give it back to you."

"Well why not?"

"As it can cause two things to happen death or darkness."

"I can see why but why do you want to give it back to me if you wanted me gone Derek all you had to do was kill me."

"No Scott has a terrible plan."

"We always have a terrible plan."

"So will you help?"

"I will do what I can but for now you keep the ring as if death may happen it may be better to only use it as a last resort."

"So what do we do know?"

"Wait. And then use the one thing we have against them."

"So you want to help knowing what it can do to you Stiles."

"Yes I will use the ring in order to help Scott, I need my magic back."
