Nursing a bloody lip on a wooden chair while the air outside cooled off from a heavy dragging warmth that descended upon the world. Emily was standing nervously by the screen door, her long black hair was braided behind her, various strands leaving it. Her hands were cradling both of her arms, her eyes jumping wildly across the darkened forest. I sighed softly, rubbing a spare hand against my eyes that were red from crying earlier. There was soft warmth emanating from Emily as she stood watch, waiting for the boys to get back. Her silent guard was fairly beautiful. Fierce even. Her stoic demeanor as she waited reminded me of the great soldiers in my books, yet her warmth reminded me of a motherly figure. Either way, Emily was a beautiful woman, and without a doubt, I would never try to hurt her.
I stood up quietly, my chair making a soft screeching that wasn't annoying, but somewhat familiar. I rubbed the bandage over my chin, annoyed at the adhesive pulling the soft hair on my chin. I made my way to the far area of the kitchen, picking up a small chunk of bread, throwing it in my mouth.
Suddenly though, the atmosphere quickly was erased, the front door opened quickly, two native girls came bursting through, one who's eyes were wild as she searched around the house, the other, frightened. Emily was the one who rushed over to the doorway, ushering them in and putting them at the table. Softly, I caught the one with the terrified faces name. Kim. The imprint of Jared, or so it seemed. Apparently Jared called and made sure Leah brought her over to the house, the vision Alice had apparently had at the party was explained and allowed in some weird circle that I didn't know. Now I'm having second thoughts on me being a wine tap for the Cullen family.
I shifted slightly on the counter, my shorts rubbing against the coolness of the countertop. My tank top being pinched between two fingers as I examined the rough cotton.
"Wait, just… can you start over?" Emily was rubbing Kim's shoulders as she shivered, her hair a wet mess from a shower she was taking before she got dragged out by Leah.
Leah made an aggravated sound and shoved a piece of bread in her mouth. "Blood sucker had a vision that Bella's stalker was coming with an army to get her, that's the jist of it." She mumbled under her breath. "Damn idiots decided to make me babysit all of you while they talked it out like some diplomatic union or shit like that." She scowled at the table, letting out a loud growl, until more food was shoved into her mouth.
I quietly inched over to the cupboard to get a glass of water from the sink, as I filled the glass, I looked out the window, trying to find rippling muscles of furry masses that would fall into my sight. My eyes stared into the dark forest, my eyes blinking for any sign that would pass by me. It was calming really, watching the forest sway in the slight breeze that occasionally passed through it. Leah was mumbling to Emily with her mouth full, her hand gracefully scratching her arm like the boys. Softly, I could hear Kim trying to speak to Emily, yet I didn't dare join the conversation. Leah was telling about some idiot who came knocking on her door the other day trying persuade her to go to church. Kim talking about Jared giving her some earrings for her birthday present the other day, and Emily, sighing, and trying not to talk about Sam.
The normalcy that I have seemingly adopted had allowed me to see these woman as if I had known them my entire life. With a soft tap to the counter and a sip of my water, I took a last glance towards the forest, not finding anything that would be watching us from afar.
"Emily… I need to get home." I spoke softly, but still I saw Leah perking her head up to hear out of the corner of my eye. "I need to see if my Mom is okay…" I paused. "With all this weird stuff happening right now, besides, I have work in the morning." I made a small wave. "I'll see you guys later."
Emily stood up as I began walking out the door, shrugging on my carhart while I waited on the porch, Emily meeting me with a wary look on her face, her scars tightened in silvery wisps of flesh. With a small smile, I touched her shoulder, allowing for her smile to brighten her face. With this soft moment between us, I turned around and with an awe inspiring move that any movie actor would be jealous of, I nearly tripped, and picked myself up. Turning around to find a horrified Emily as I smiled and hopped over to the truck, perfectly content with the small red gravel imprints painting my hands.
I hummed the eighties song that had made itself known on the radio before I got out of the car. Dad's car was sitting in the driveway, the small low to the ground car looked like it could be run over by the truck Mom and me drove all the time. With a shaky smile, I closed the door of the truck, the creak hitting my ears as the rusted metal squeaked at me with furious retorts that would have most likely translated into it threatening to fall off.
My shoes clicked against the mossy stones as I used the stupid pintrest key off the wind chime, only to find the door open and Mom and Dad drinking in the living room while Mom painted. With a quick glance inside there, I quickly turned upstairs with wide eyes, sure that if I stayed for any longer that I would be mentally scarred for life. My feet thumped to the upstairs towards my room, I made sure I was extra loud with my feet hitting the floorboards with a vengeance to make sure Mom and Dad didn't disgust me as I tried to fall asleep tonight. Ugg, the thought makes me shiver.
I discarded my keys on my desk and took the rock by my door and lodged it between the doorframe and the almost closed door. With a soft sigh I pulled the belt through my shorts belt loops, taking slow lazy steps towards my desk chair and draping it over it. My body felt tired, aching from today. First was graduation, then Mom showering me with kisses and cake shoved in my mouth before I left with the truck to the Uley house.
I let out a loud sigh as I fell down on my bed. My green tank top fell down in a loose caress, my collar bone jutting out from my skin as I scratched the skin there. Red splotches erupted like angry personifications of my flushed skin. With a soft sigh, I smiled up at my ceiling, content that everything was going exactly as it should have been.
I must have fallen asleep though, for I about started when my window opened and in popped a natives head, specifically… Paul. He grinned when he saw me lounging on my bed, climbing through with his body bare except for shorts that were falling apart at the seams. His smile was so big he didn't even notice when one of his frayed jean shorts caught on a sharp edge of my window seal. I snorted, which of course allowed him to become drunk on my presence as Emily and the boys said. Although my laugh stopped immediately when he stood up and bare skin hit my view. My cheeks flustered and I fell backwards off my bed, my hands cupping my mouth as I tried to calm my hysterics over seeing a naked man, my legs tangled up the bed sheets that got dragged down with me.
Immediately, Paul ran over his hands touching my shoulders and silently checking me over for injury as I stared at the ceiling, not even daring to look at his mop of black hair. I didn't want to see anything that some wild fangirl writing sex stories when she was twelve might have, which I should add, a small chance of might; that just maybe he would be considered a porn star in his lower extremities.
Which I of course never went through the phase at twelve years old.
Okay, they weren't sex stories, I had the dignity to fade to black when the time came for those parts.
Good thing I did, my Mom almost looked at the notebooks once. The horror that befell me that day made sure I never wrote stuff like that again.
Paul nervously chuckled as I heard the shifting of cloth across the room, along with the thump of plastic hitting my desk, a quick shift of the eyes made me determine it as his cell phone.
"Question one, are your pants back on and question two is why you are here?" I had my hands over my eyes now, my legs shifting slightly to untangle the colorful sheets from my bare legs.
"I've got my shorts back on, and I just wanted to come here to say Happy birthday."
I sat up in confusion to look at the tanned native, his eyes looking down at the ground as one of his hands was clenched to where his skin looked completely white without the blood pulsing through it, his other hand was holding something loosely. Paul was what I considered a stiff individual, his body naturally going on defense whenever he was I a situation he didn't like or simply it was everyday life.
I stood up slowly, glancing at the werewolf with a curious and cautious gaze. "Well, you already wished me happy birthday, you don't need to do it again."
I felt my shoulders concave towards my body when Paul looked at me with red dusting his cheeks as he took my hands in his and shoved a leather bracelet arranged with many small agates from La Push beach that I remembered distinctly from digging my bare toes through the sand there. My cheeks blossomed like a ripe fruit as I looked down at the bracelet then back at Paul, my mouth opening slightly as he nervously watched me.
"Ca-an you help me put it on?" I smiled shyly up at him, his tense stance disappearing and the cool boyish attitude that he adopted swarmed his entire body with a cockiness. His warm calloused hands made my left leg dance nervously under me as he enveloped my hands further, placing the bracelet on my right wrist. I swore I heard him say his hands perfectly fit into mine under his breath, it tried not to acknowledge it as it would have made me a flurry of nerves.
Once it was on, I admired it as I slowly walked over to my window seal, Paul climbing out of it slowly, his mumblings being that of having to leave for a patrol, even after he just was in the stench of the blood suckers. I didn't comment as I smiled at the bracelet, grinning up at Paul as he began to descend down the siding of my house, that looked impossible to climb.
I kind of thought that it couldn't get better than this, now all I needed was a sappy romance to complete this perfect day.
Quick as can be, while I sat down on the window seal, I watched Paul climb down side of my house. A smile graced my face, but before I could watch him take the next step down the siding, he climbed back up and looked at me for a straight minute, which caused me to tilt my head in confusion towards his face as he leaned his upper body of the window seal.
"Did you leave something?" I looked down at the bracelet, searching the woven leather for something amiss that he might have made a mistake and wanted to it back, I didn't find anything though, which made my curiosity pique further.
"Yeah, my phone. It's on the desk." He climbed through as I backed away from the window seal to grab it. I walked over to my desk, my curiosity sated for the night and picked it up, turning around to walk back to the window, only to walk into a wall of muscle. I rubbed my nose when I practically broke it against him.
Before I knew it, I was having my breath being taken away, soft flesh being molded against my creased lips. There was a hand holding onto the side of my shirt near the hip bone, it caressed the fabric. It was a quick thing, not the slimy sex filling moment of tension that movies showed usually, although I swear I could distantly pick up Take My Breath Away in a closed door behind my mind. Before I knew it, the moment was gone and Paul was leaning away from me, his breath fanning hot wisps of air across my cheeks.
Holy Shit… I just kissed Paul Lahote.
"Shit." I whispered under my breath, not even caring that I spoke my words out loud, after I did, I dove for the back of my bed that was hidden from his view. I didn't leave it or squeal until I heard his feet thump outside. Although I swear I heard Tom Cruise's voice in my head somewhere as I listened to Paul laugh into the forest, my cheeks flushed red the rest of the night.
"Wait… how the hell does he know where I live?!"
Don't blame me if I get something wrong in the plot. –shrugs- Theo is an unreliable narrator, so shit is going to go wrong plot wise. Besides, Theo isn't the main character to this story. (Although some might like to think) Bella is, despite being barely seen.
So heh, long time coming? Right? I'll have you know I'm a straight A student now, since I got my shit together in school. Sadly fanfiction allows for no school work… Sooooo, here.
Have a good day!
