Ok guys so here it is. The final chapter to this story. I wanted to thank everyone who had read and reviewed this story since the begging, much thanks goes out to you. As some of you probably know I am collaborating on a story called "Back to High School" so be on the look out for that. It will also have some Salex along with Mikita. Enough of my railing. ENJOY THE FINAL CHAPTER!
Chapter 12
Alex sat on the couch rubbing her stomach. Today was her due date and she knew for almost a fact that it would at least be another three days until she went into labour, 'when was the last time someone gave birth on their due date?' Is what she had asked Nikita yesterday when she said that Alex should be ready to go to the hospital. She now sat on the couch rubbing circles on her stomach. She winced slightly as pained passed through her lower abdomen but quickly brushes it off as indigestion. Everyone was at work and Nikita was out shopping so she decided to turn on the TV she hit the remote to find an old episode of 'Criminal Minds' playing. She chuckled as Morgan went up to Reid and gave him a whistle after he failed his firearm qualification. Alex chuckled at the slight irony, almost everyone in their dysfunctional family had worked for the government at one point and she couldn't remember any of them getting any of the proper qualification for some of the things they handled. Except maybe Sean and Michael but they both worked for the Navy first. She heard the door open and Nikita walked in.
"Hey what you watching?" She asked.
"Criminal Minds!" Alex replied excitedly.
"Ohh I'll be right there!" She said shoving the entire bag of groceries in the fridge without unpacking and walking back over to the couch and sat down.
Shortly after they had started having relatively normal lives they had found this show and had quickly bought all the seasons. They had gone through all of them and were waiting for the 8th season to start in September but were more than glad to re-watch episode. Two hours later they had happily found out that there was a Criminal Minds Marathon and gladly continued watching. Alex winced again as she continued to run circles on her belly.
"Are you okay?" Nikita asked looking at Alex.
"Yeah I'm fine. Just indigestion I think." She replied. Nikita studied her for a moment than went back to the TV. A short while later Alex winced again.
"Okay, come on we're going to the hospital." Nikita said standing up.
"Nikita no I'm fine. I swear." Alex protested.
"How often have you been 'having indigestion'?" She asked with use of air quotes just to make her point.
"In the last hour, probably every ten minutes." Alex replied sheepishly. "Alex why didn't you tell me?" Nikita asked excitedly confused.
"Because no one gives birth on their due date!" Alex replied with a 'duh' tone.
Nikita pulled her up from the couch. "Come on. We're going to the hospital." Nikita said putting on her shoes and grabbing Alex's hospital bag from the front closet.
"I have to call Sean." Alex said.
"From the car sweetie. Breathe and walk." Nikita said. She got into the car and drove off, once she got onto the highway she called Sean.
"Hello?" He answered.
"Hey Sean it's me. Alex has gone into labour so we're heading to the hospital." Nikita explained.
"Oh my god. Okay. I'll be right there. Love you Alex." He said knowing he would be on speaker.
"I love you too Sean. I'll see you soon." she said as the line went dead.
They pulled up to the car park and went into the hospital.
Sean put down the phone and jumped up from his desk grabbing his cell phone and jacket. He went down the hall to Ryan's office and knocked before walking in.
"Alex went into labour do I'm heading to the hospital." Sean said trying his best to hide his smile but failing
"Alright well go. We'll all be there later." Ryan said. Sean smiled again and ran out and down the hall to Michael's office. He burst in the door and Michael looked up from his paperwork.
"I'm going to be a dad!" Sean said excitedly.
Michael chuckled at his enthusiasm. "Congrats. You're going to be great. Come on. I'll drive you there." Michael said getting up from behind his desk and walking out the door with Sean.
The two men got in the car and sped off towards the hospital. When they got there Sean jumped put of the car while the car was still moving he ran towards the door.
"I'll just park the car." Michael said but Sean was already in the door. Michael chuckled at the young man and went to park the car. Sean ran into the hospital and went to the front desk.
"My name is Sean Pierce my wife went into labour." Sean said.
"Yes down the hall delivery room 3." she told him.
Sean said a quick 'thanks' before running down the hall he open the door and saw Nikita standing next to Alex. "Hey, I'll let you take over I guess Sean." Nikita said as she switched places with him.
"Sorry I couldn't get here earlier." He said as he held her hand.
"It's fine. You're here now." She said. Just then the doctor walked in.
"Alright Alex you're at 10cm so it's time to start pushing. Sean stand beside her and just a warning if she's like another women that's come through her she might crush your hand so just be prepared for that." The doctor said chuckling lightly.
"I'll be fine." Sean said using a cold cloth to gently wipe the sweat from Alex's forehead. After twenty minutes of labour Alex looked like she was about to pass out and Sean's hand had turned slightly purple.
"Sean I'm going to kill you!" Alex yelled as another contraction hit. "I swear to god I'm never ever letting you touch me again!" She said her teeth clenching in a mixture of frustration and pain.
"I know honey. I love you too." He said wiping her face with the cold water again.
"Okay Alex, I need you to just push one more time okay." The doctor told Alex.
"I can't. I can't." Ale said tiredly.
Sean laced his fingers through hers and looked at her. "Yes you can. You're the strongest person I know. You can do this." He said encouragingly.
She let out a sigh and pushed one more time. A few seconds later a babies scream filled the room. Both Sean and Alex let out happy sighs as Alex collapsed back onto the bed. Moments later the doctor brought over the baby an placed him in Alex's arms. "
Congratulations. It's a boy." The doctor said as she left the room to give the couple some privacy.
"He's here. He's really here." Alex said in sidelined as she smiled down at the boy in her arms.
"Yeah he is." She said as she kissed Sean. Moments later Nikita, Michael, Birkhoff and Sonya walked into the room.
"Hey. How are you feeling?" Nikita asked walking over to the couple and smiling at the cuddle in her arm.
"Like I just had to push something the size of a watermelon out a whole the size of a grape." Alex said truthfully. "But that's a good thing." She said. "You want to hold him?" Alex asked Nikita.
"Yeah." She said smiling as she took the child from Alex's arms.
"You guys are the god parents so it only seems fair." Sean said.
He and Alex were Katie's god parents so they decided it would be best plus Sean knew that Nikita was like a sister to Alex do he couldn't think of a better choice. Next it was Birkhoff turn to come forward and talk to the couple. He held the baby in his arms ad smiled at the two adults.
"You did good Russian Princess." He told Alex.
"Thanks Nerd." She said chuckling.
"So have you guys thought of a name yet?" He asked.
"Yeah, it's Christopher Mason. Christopher after Sean's old partner and Mason after Sean's father." Alex explained.
"Am I the only one who remembers what happened 3 years ago today?" Birkhoff asked handing Chris to Sean. Everyone in the room gave him a blank stare.
"What are you talking about?" Sean asked.
Birkhoff sighed. "Exactly three years ago today Sean kissed Alex for the first time after you blow up my beach house." He said in mock anger.
Sean smiled down at Alex. "Best decision of my life." He said. 'Awws' were coursed through out the group except for Birkhoff who gave a fake look of disgust. "You two are worse than Mikita over here." he said.
"Mikita?" Michael asked looking at him.
"Yeah have I not told you? I've made couple names for all of us. You and Nikki are Mikita and the new parents over here are Salex." He said with a proud grin.
"What about you and Sonya?" Alex asked looking at him with a raised eyebrow.
"I couldn't really think of a good way to mix our names together so I went with NerdsSquared." he explained. Everyone in the room chuckled at him.
"Well we should probably give you guys time to rest up. We'll see you in the morning and I think Owen and Ryan are coming as well and if you don't mind I'm going to bring Katie to meet you new cousin." Nikita said.
"No problem. See you all tomorrow. Love you guys." Alex said. the 4 adults walked out I the room leaving Sean and Alex inside with their new bundle of joy.
"We did good didn't we?" Sean asked smiling down at his son.
"Yeah we did." Alex replied holding her son. "I told you he'd have your eyes." Sean said as he looked down at Chris's sea blue eyes.
"And it looks like he'll have you hair." Alex said motioning to the small brown tuff of hair on the top of his head. Sean kissed her lightly.
"Thanks for giving me this Alex." he said genuinely. Alex smiled.
"I should really be the one thanking you but no problem Sean." She said chuckling lightly. Sean took. From Alex to let her get some rest and smile at his son asleep in his arms and Alex asleep in the bed next to him. He was easily the happiest person in the world.
