===Chapter 11===
===Be the sexy one again.
(You are now Dave again. *wink wonk*)
Okay, okay. Don't panic. Don't do it, man! Okay, Dave is actually freaking out right now! He can't find Vriska anywhere. He even went back to the park, and she wasn't there. He went to her house and she wasn't there. He went to his own house and obviously she wasn't, but you have to check all possible locations before jumping to conclusions. Or, that's what Dave learned from watching documentaries about crimes with Terezi.
Where did she run off to...?
No, wait a second. Did she...?
Well, it was the last place he would've looked, which is now.
He started running to find her. After going a for a very short sprint, he finally found Vriska. He wanted to run up to her and hug her and kiss her and act like a mother saying, "Don't you dare do that again!" But that would be completely out of character, so he decides to keep it cool.
He found her the same way he did two nights ago: sitting on the same bench, all by herself.
Well, so she did end up here. No wonder he couldn't find the spider girl. She's about a two minute walk from Gamzee's house now, and he lives the farthest from all of them. Karkat set that up. Damn crabby troll.
Catching his breath, he scolded her. "You're here!"
"I can see that," she said glumly.
"...Hey," Dave sighed, not knowing what to say.
"Hey."
"You scared me for a second! Where were you?"
"Here, remember?" she didn't even bother to look up.
"...What happened?" Dave was not getting concerned for her again. She can change her mood in the blink of an eye, so he was prepared if she might decide to lash out at him.
"Something." She sighed, as if annoyed by his existence. What's her deal? Slowly he made his way up to her, sitting on the bench by her side. He didn't dare touch her because she had a look on her face that said: Touch me and you die. She was curled up in a ball again. Were they going to repeat this a lot? He tapped his fingers on the bench, whistling a little bit. This awkward silence surrounded them, and left Dave in wonder of what he should do. Looking back at her, he noticed what she was watching. She was staring at the ground. There was a small spider caught under a small rock; its front arms were squirming and in desperate need of help. It's body wasn't stuck, just some of it's legs, so it wouldn't die. Vriska then finally started to talk.
"I... I just broke up with John," she informed him.
"...What?" That definitely caught him off guard.
"Technically, we were... 'moirails', and I just broke up with him. He didn't really understand what that meant to me, and it seemed like he didn't care."
Dave's eyes widened. Did she do that... to stay as his moirail? The girl was so confusing; if she wanted to get closer to him, why didn't she just stop being Dave's moirail? He would've been totally fine with that. After all, John and Vriska being moirails would bring them closer together, right?
She continued to talk. "I never really thought about it when I asked you. But, it never felt like a moirallegiance with him anyway. We were always just... normal, you know? We didn't really have a strong bond and we never really helped each other out with anything. If anything, it would just be us sharing our wonderful obsession with Nic Cage, and how nobody understands. It was going really cold, and it just was swept away. I can't explain exactly how I feel right now. I guess the closest word is... disappointed. I'm disappointed in John, for not sticking up for himself and for us and not begging me to stay his moirail, I'm disappointed in the world for not reminding me that I was his already earlier, but mostly, I'm disappointed in myself. I didn't... I didn't want to break up with him. But part of me felt like I had to. Like, I was tired of it because it was so pale and we didn't talk a lot, and the relationship went cold. So, what was the point of keeping it if it didn't work out well? He doesn't need me, right? He has everyone else, and I'm just here by myself again. So, I'm disappointed. And I'm tired..." She pointed her finger at the spider, "And I did that to the poor thing," she said in a monotone.
"...Oh." Dave didn't really know what to say to her. This was all pretty sudden to him, too.
"I didn't mean to, it just happened. I was walking here, and that stupid rock rolled under my foot and I crush half of its legs. I'm an idiot."
Dave looked back at the spider. It would still live, just not perfectly. He kneeled down next to it, and watched as it squirmed its free legs as if telling him to pick it up. He looked back at Vriska.
"You know, this spider reminds me of you..." he said, putting his hand on his chin. She raised an eyebrow, and then rolled her eyes.
"Not the time for puns, Strider..." she fell to her side on the bench, her hair flowing back behind of her.
"No, not like that," he chuckled. "That would be pretty crude of me to use puns or literary terms at the moment. I mean, you and this little guy need help. You both probably feel... stuck. Well, for him it's literally, and you... well, you get it. You both just need some help..." He picked up the rock. The little guy suffered enough anyway, and Vriska has, too. The spider crawled back a little, and started to walk away. "And you both get what you want. It's finally free, you know?" He waved his hand at the little creature and it walked away, looking as if it wasn't hurt at all. Goddamn, he was not good with this emotional support. This was new to him, so give him some slack.
Vriska still looked upset. Maybe he should try some slight humor?
"I bet the little guy didn't event thank me, the little fuck..." he laughed, petting Vriska's hair. He couldn't get enough of her hair, it was like putting your hand into an ocean of feathers.
Vriska scoffed, rolling all of her eyes at his joke. "Wow, really Dave? Really?"
"Hell yeah. He just walked his jumpy ass outta here. He didn't even stop to say anything, I should probably kick his ass..."
"What if it's a girl?" Vriska smiled.
"Well then... fuck," Dave smiled at her, and then leaned down to kiss her forehead. He helped her up, and held her hand. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and hugged him tightly. He hesitantly put his arms around her waist, holding her closer. Dave still can't get over this weird, fluttery feeling he feels in his chest when he's close to her. Maybe this is how you're supposed to feel to trolls? She's so warm. And soft. And lovable to him. Why do so many people hate her? Feferi was right. She just made some bad choices, but that's normal.
"Thanks, Dave. So far, you're the only reason I could smile today..." she whispered. Dave blushed, and hugged her tighter. He doesn't want her to leave.
"No prob," he could clearly hear his own nervous voice. Why was he nervous, anyway? What's his problem with this chick? He had one more question for this girl. "Well, why didn't you just stick with him instead of telling me that we weren't going to be moirails anymore?"
She looked at him while smirking, as if there was already an obvious answer. "Dave, I'm not just gonna leave you after we've just developed a relationship! I'm not that much of a bitch! Doing that would totally make me look like an asshole! And actually, I'm getting pretty fond of you, Strider. You helped me a lot, even though it was just me talking about my problems. But since I finally told someone about it, I felt good finally and you were the only one that was willing to listen. So, thank you," She smiled. "And like I told you before, why would I stay with him if it wasn't going anywhere? Duh," she laughed, giving him a genuine smile again. Dave felt heat on his face again, he liked to see her smile. It made her all the more pretty.
"Oh, that's cool," he waved it off, acting totally cool about it.
"Okay, enough with the heavy. I'm fine now, anyway," Vriska chuckled. She turned to face him on the desk, grabbing his hands and waving them around together. "Earlier, I heard Feferi glubbing about something. Very abnormally loudly. So, it came to reason that you had finally talked to fishy princess?" she smirked again.
"Yeah, I did. It was really fucked for a first encounter. I think I got her mad or something," Dave chuckled, looking down.
"Oh? What set her off?" Vriska asked, curious.
Remembering their past conversation made Dave blush so much, he looked away from her, laughing it off. "Um, well, I'm not sure," he lied. "She just blew her shit or something at me. She was probably on her period or something, ha..."
"What's a period?" Vriska asked, raising her eyebrows. Dave look back at her in genuine astonishment.
"Are you... for real?" Dave asked in complete shock. "I... I, what the actual fuck? Look at me, I am literally reeking of stupefaction."
Vriska laughed awkwardly. "No, I'm being serious! What the hell is that? I don't know!"
Dave smirked, taking his chance to tell someone his definition of what it is. He described it in a voice as if he was telling a ghost story at a sleepover. "Well, if you really want to know... it's when female Earth baboons become the most iniquitous and immoral in their life. It happens every once a month, and they become completely overtaken by the emotions of melancholy, vexation and rage and will conquer anything that comes in their path. They will eliminate anything that comes between them and comfort food, and end up putting on a lot of pounds, so don't ever peeve them by talking about their appearance, because they will fuck you shit up. Their exasperation becomes the being of their self. Their tears hitting the ground become the reverberation of your eardrums. Woman are at their most powerful in this state, and leave men such as myself totally and completely confounded."
Vriska had a spooked look on her face. "That sounds..." She then grinned widely. "Totally badass! I want a period! If I had that before on Alternia, I could literally rule the seas and take over everything! Now I really wish I was a human!"
Dave burst out in laughter, and even began to tear up.
"What's so funny?!" she asked in displeasure. He just kept on, falling on the sidewalk. "Stop laughing at me, you ass!"
"... I c-can't..." he managed to sputter. He then coughed into his fist, and stood up. She looked pretty pissed at him, so he decided to apologize. "Sorry..."
She then smirked at him. "Yeah, it's fine. Okay, I'm alright now." She quickly put her hands around his neck, kissing his cheek and he saw her pop her foot while hugging him. She let go and stared at him, biting her lip. "Wanna go back now?"
Dave couldn't move. He just there, almost frozen and with the biggest blush on his face he's gotten today, or whenever he was around Vriska. For some weird reason, he liked being important to her. He absolutely enjoyed it.
===Be the 8itch.
(You are now Vriska fucking Serket.)
After she'd just given Dave a little kiss on the cheek, he was just staring at her all weird and silent. Like, what the hell is this guy's deal? Dave is kinda confusing sometimes, but Vriska can't help but want him around. He made her feel so much better around people. He just lifted so much weight on her shoulders that she had to keep to herself. He's the only one and first one that openly admitted he wanted to hear her problems. Of course, Karkat would blab on about her love life and shit, but Dave actually wanted to hear her opinions! Who even does that? Kindness is somewhat new to her, but Vriska's getting used to guy. She noticed his face was all red. Is he getting sick or something?
"Hey Dave, are you okay?" she asked with concern for her moirail.
"N-no, I'm cool," he coughed quietly into his fist his again, and flipped some of his hair from his face. Vriska absoluely loved his hair. It looked so perfect and soft and she can't help but beg mentally to pet it. Maybe one day she'll have the chance. She had a better vision now that her sight was restored and she had all eight of her eyes, so she can perfectly see that he has red eyes. She wonders if the other humans know about his eyes? Why does he try to hide them anyway? She could completely see through his coolkid facade, and she could tell that he was pretty insecure about things. But, saying anything rude to him would be hypocritical, because she had a few insecurities of her own. Maybe he doesn't like his eyes? She wants to take off his shades, but she's not sure how he'd react. It would be better to stay safe than sorry. But she still liked his a lot, he was cool and pretty badass, after sometimes seeing him on her computer. The guy had strife skills like a pro. And she was even happier now that they were moirails, she needed a break from John anyway. She really hopes in the future he will finally get a clue and they would be together. She loved him.
Dave reached out his hand for her, and she willingly grabbed onto it. She smiled at him softly, "Let's go to my house; I'm tired."
Dave smiled awkwardly back, and said, "Yeah."
As the two were walking together again to the park, Dave slowed down in his tracks. "Oh, one more thing..."
"Whaaaaaaaat?" Vriska groaned as the two did not stop.
"I actually... got you invited to a little get together..." he chuckled, his hands in his pockets.
"To what?" she asked in her snarky, typical voice.
"A party at Feferi's," Dave smirked, looking at her. Her jaw dropped.
"What the actual fuck, Dave?! I'm not going to her stupid slumber party with a bunch of assholes that hate me!" she hissed, crossing her arms and puffing her cheeks out. Oh god she was cute when she did that. Um, moving on.
"Hey, don't be like that. I was just trying to get you friends. You probably need that since you're such a...a..." Dave had to watch his words. "...um, malicious girl, you know?"
"Dick," she muttered, looking away. "Why do I have to go?"
"She wants you to be there," he informed her.
"What the hell could fishy princess want with someone like me? I'm such a malicious person, remember?" she rolled her eyes in disbelief.
Dave stopped and whispered a little something to her. "Because, believe it or not, someone wants to be your friend, Vriskfish," he chuckled. Vriska slowed in her tracks greatly, a surprised look on her face. He could tell she made the smallest smile, but quickly waved it away.
"Yeah, whatever..." she muttered, walking along and thinking to herself. She finally rolled her eyes, and sighed deeply. "Fine, I'll go..."
"That's what I thought, Vriskfish," Dave laughed, patting her head softly. She glared at him.
"It's not like I'm going to fucking enjoy it. And don't you dare call me that, you asshole!"
"Oh, I'm the asshole. Right," Dave looked up, looking at the sun.
"I was kidding, Strider..." Vriska nudged his arm, smirking. He smirked right back, and they held hands again. When they got back to the park, they got some strange looks from their friends watching them. They were probably just shocked to see them holding hands. Well, fuck them. Dave can hold whatever hand he wants. Bitches. He stopped and looked over to his right and saw Karkat and Nepeta still chatting it up. Holy shit, this oughta be good now. He stood by to watch, listening to what they were saying.
"No, I don't mean it like that! It's just... I'm sorry, okay?" Karkat sputtered.
"N-no, I didn't take it like that-"
"But! Uh... I just wanted... okay, let me start over," Karkat clenched his fists, clearing his throat. "I... think it would be okay if... we... w-we..."
"Yeah?" Nepeta smiled.
"I mean, I wouldn't mind if..."
"Yeah?" Nepeta was practically desperate to hear his answer.
"If we... went out... on a human date..." Karkat finally finished, crossing his arms and turning away. Nepeta smiled and her olive green eyes were filled with light and joy.
"Yes!" Karkat turned and smiled weakly at her. "I'd love to do that." She then spread her arms out to him. "AC opens her arms and offurrs a hug to Karkitty." Karkat rolled her eyes, still smiling.
"And Karkat... accepts her offer." He leaned over to hug her. She took some baby steps to hug him closer, in which made Karkat flinch, and accept. "And more one more thing..."
"What is it? I mean, AC asked that," Nepeta giggled, putting her head to the side while snuggling in his chest. Karkat suddenly leaned down to make eye contact with her. He leaned in closer and closer to the point where he pecked her lips softly. "I love you..." he said. He suddenly backed away, his face burned with embarrassment. Probably because he just kissed her in front of everyone. Dave heard some gasps of shock and joy from some of them, including Vriska.
"Wow, I didn't think he'd actually..." Vriska's voice trailed off, in a complete state of astonishment. But she wasn't as nearly shocked as Nepeta. The poor roleplayer stood up straight, almost frozen. She kept mouthing words that were inaudible to most. Her fingers were flinching and she was gasping and breathing incorrectly.
"I... I..." she finally said.
"Holy shit, is she gonna...?" Dave didn't finish his sentence, because the cat girl finally fell over, grinning widely and her face covered in an olive green blush.
"Fuck, I'm so sorry!" Karkat said, crouching over next to the girl. Suddenly, she broke into a state of giggles and laughs. It became uncontrollable, and then Karkat silenced her with his finger. She looked up with curious and embarrassed eyes. "You need to stop that. Like right now."
"O-oh, sorry..." she squeaks. He smiled at her, laughing a little.
"It's okay." They hugged, leaving Dave to smirk. Now that was just fucking adorable. Sure, Karkat messed up a few times with the whole speech, but it was still cute. He didn't realize how much he actually liked and cared for that cat girl. They seem pretty legit together. He glanced at Vriska, who was laughing at smirking at Karkat, who flipped her off in response. He wonders if he and a certain girl would ever be considered legit... Dave, no. You have to fucking cut that shit out. Whatever.
"Wow, that was quite a show!" Vriska scoffed, still snickering. "I liked it." She looked at Dave, and laughed again. She has a nice grin. Her fangs made her look like a total badass. And she sort of was.
"Yay!" Jade announced, finally showing herself to Nepeta. The cat girl smiled at her.
"Jade? What are you doing hiding behind that water cascading provenance?" she giggled.
"Don't know what that means, but I have so many plans for you two!" she squealed in delight. Karkat grunted and rolled his eyes at the Witch.
"What the fuck, Jade? You said you weren't going to do this!" he argued as she sat by the two, wrapping her arms around the Knight and Rogue.
"I said that if it didn't necessarily work out!" she stuck her tongue out at him, then looked over to Nepeta while wearing a huge shit eating grin. "Okay, I already have your first date planned out! I have acquired some..."
"Wait, do you ship me and Karkitty?" Nepeta asked.
"Well, duh!" Jade said as if her question was ridiculous. "Why wouldn't I?"
"Omg! Right?" the cat giggled. "I have been shipping us since furrever!"
"You two are so cute together! And anyway, I have been planning for you two to..." The two girls blabbed on and on about how their first dates would go, while Karkat was tapping the ground and glaring at them. Dave scoffed. The crab should be lucky to have someone as awesome as Jade guiding his life. Karkat is a huge mess.
"Yaaaaaaaawn!" Vriska sighed, stretching her arms out. "Well, I'm gonna go." Dave pulled her by the arm, stopping her.
"Nope."
"Argh, what now?" she moaned, looking at him. "Can't I have five minutes of peace?"
"No. I want you to hang with Feferi. Talk about the party or something. Whatever. Just talk with her."
"Why? Isn't she already planning stuff with Kanaya or something?" Vriska sneered.
"Probably. Can you at least just discuss something with her?" Dave said.
"Fine, but I'm not gonna be nice about it..." Vriska grumbled, stomping her snooty ass away.
"Be nice!" Dave called out.
"Whatever!" she said, heading to Feferi and Sollux. Dave doesn't have time to watch her. He has to fix things with Terezi. He sees Gamzee and Tavros talking and laughing. They look at Dave. After giving them peace signs, he started heading back.
... ... ...
Dave stood in front of Terezi's house, or hive or whatever. He had to say sorry. He doesn't like being without her for a long time. He knocked on the door with uncertainty. He heard her voice call out.
"Who is it?" she asked.
"It's me, Dave," he gulped.
She paused and answered, "The door shall not open to assholes with problems. And the owner of this residence is not home."
"Can you please just come out so I can say sorry?" Dave groaned. At first there was nothing, but then I suddenly heard footsteps, and the door clicking. It opened by an inch and I saw her red flaring glasses stare back at me.
"I'm sorry, I didn't catch that," she spat. I decided to get on one knee, bowing to her.
"I'm am truly and completely sorry, your Majesty," Dave said. He looked up at her. The girl was wearing a small smile on her face.
"It's okay," Terezi said, opening the door wider. She crouched over in front of him and hugged the boy. He obliged. After letting go, she grinned, "Wanna play video games?"
Dave smirked at the Seer. "Hell yeah, you are so on." The two head inside to beat other so bad.
