Chapter 11

Today was a special day. It was June 16th. Twenty four years ago it was Lin and Tenzin's first date. Twenty one years ago Lin and Tenzin opened up their relationship to a different level. Seventeen years ago Lin got the scars on her face. Eleven years ago Lin and Tenzin found out they were expecting Jinora. Ten years ago Lin and Tenzin got married. And recently joining the list of important events of this day was Kyoshi and Rohan's birth that was exactly a year ago. Today was the celebration of Lin and Tenzin's ten year anniversary as well as the celebration of their youngest children's first birthday.

The night before, Lin and Tenzin decided that the whole family was going to sleep in. Not only were they going to sleep in but they were going to all sleep in the master bedroom. With the help of some air acolytes, the family was able to connect a few beds together. Today was going to be a family day and they all wanted to enjoy it together from the very start of the day.

Rohan was laying next to his mother when he started to move on her, lightly punching her to get her attention. Besides Rohan, Lin was the first to wake up. It was somewhere around seven in the morning and she knew it was Kyoshi and Rohan's normal feeding time. As she got up and picked up Rohan, she noticed that her husband and Kyoshi were both peacefully asleep. With that, she decided that she just feed Rohan until her daughter became hungry.

Knowing that Rohan made many noises, she moved to the chair that was near the food of her and Tenzin's bed. She looked at everyone sleeping as she fed Rohan. Because Meelo moved a lot in his sleep, he was place against the wall where he slept next to Lin's oldest son who barely moved in his sleep. Next to him was Tenzin who had Kyoshi on his chest. Kyoshi moved up and down as her father inhaled and exhale. Next to the two was Ikki and then Jinora. Before she got up, Lin slept next to Jinora with Rohan in between the two. The order of the line always worked out for the whole family, even if everyone were happy with one another, it was calmer this way.

Lin came out of thought when she saw that Rohan was well fed. "Happy birthday, my little earthbender. I love you." She then looked up to Mushi to make sure she whispered it quietly enough. She didn't mean it in a bad way but her whole family thought Rohan was going to be an airbender, but she knew that he wasn't. She was excited when he accidentally bended a pebble and hit Tenzin right between his eyebrows. She silently laughed at the thought. Tenzin has the worst luck with earthbenders. I can't wait until Kyoshi learns my tricks and plays it off on him. He'll never get mad at her little face.

Just then Kyoshi started to move around and was about to wake up Tenzin until Lin switched Kyoshi and Rohan. It was Kyoshi's turn to get fed.

Lin sat back down and began to feed Kyoshi, "Hi, honey. You're lucky I switched you and your brother otherwise you would've woke up your father. You look so adorable for your birthday. Spirits, nevermind, you always look adorable." Her mother's tone of voice made her smile. "I love you, sweetie."

When Kyoshi was full, Lin burped her. By the time that she was done, however, her family was still asleep. Might as well go back to sleep. She then placed Kyoshi right next to Jinora followed by herself. I can get used to this.

11:00am

The whole family was still sound asleep until both of the twins cried loud enough for everyone to wake up. Everyone groaned but still sat up. They all started to rub their eyes and stretch out the sleep.

Tenzin was the first to speak up. "Good morning, kids. I'm sorry the twins woke you all up."

Jinora spoke up followed by Mushi then Ikki then Meelo. "It is their birthday, I don't mind." "I'm just surprised we got up so late." "That's okay, daddy." "Can I still teach them fart bending?!"

He shook his head. "I agree, Jinora and Mushi. Thank you, Ikki. Meelo, your mother and I both told you they are earthbenders and even if fart bending was a secondary element, no. You already stink up the whole island with your farts."

"Oh hush, Airhead." She placed her hand on his bald head. "Don't listen to your father, Meelo. Well, I mean, just don't fart around me or your siblings, okay?" Meelo nodded and Lin faced the rest of her children. "Can you guys get ready for the party and help out the air acolytes set up for now? Your father and I will meet you in the party room soon."

Once the older kids left, Lin walked up behind Tenzin and put her hands on his shoulders. "Well, enough of that, happy anniversary, Tenzin." She kissed him.

He smiled a passionate smile to her. "Happy anniversary, Lin. I love you."

She moved to be in front of her husband where she was able to look directly into his eyes. "I love you, too. The past ten years with you have been wonderful. Thank you for everything."

He looked back into her eyes. "No, thank you." No matter what the other said, the two of them both knew that if they looked directly into each others' eyes they were speaking the truth.

"Hmmpf whatever, Twinkletoes." She kissed him again. "Okay, we should get ready so we can help the kids out."

A couple of hours later...

It took about four hours to get the party ready. With celebrating two different occasions it was hard to decorate their house, but they made compromises. All that mattered was that they were going to spend their night with their friends and family. It was just a special day for Lin and Tenzin's family.

Within the hour, friends and family kept coming over. Next thing you know, the room was filled with grandparents, adults, and children. The children were all in the corner, all playing and talking with each other. The adults and grandparents, however, all sat around the table together. They spent their times talking amongst each other and even sharing old stories. With both Aang and Sokka gone, the conversations and stories weren't as funny, but in loving memories, they all enjoyed themselves, telling their favorite stories they had of the two.

As time passed by, Lin checked the her watch. "Hmm, it's getting pretty late for the twins, I think we should bring out the cake so Tenzin and I could put the two to bed." They all agreed and with the help of Tenzin, the two went to the kitchen.

On their way to the kitchen, Tenzin grabbed ahold of his soulmate's hand. "This is going out amazingly, sweetie."

She looked at him. "I agree, I think this has been one of the best days of our lives."

He couldn't help but smile at her. "It really is."

The two then went to the refrigerator to get the two cakes, a simple green and yellow cake for their anniversary and a green and white cake for their youngest twins. The twin's cake also had two badgermole figures wearing airbending bead necklaces. Surprisingly enough, it was Lin's idea for the cake and she even made the figures.

Lin eyed the cake carefully as she walked into the party room. Wow, I did a good job on ordering these cakes.

"Kids, everyone, gather around so we can celebrate together and then eat cake" Tenzin announced as he and his wife entered back into the party room.

As their family and guests circled the main table singing "Happy Birthday," Lin and Tenzin held their twins happily. They were happy about everything that has been going on in their life and wouldn't change a single thing.

When everyone was done singing, they held the two children near the candle to blow them out. They, however, were unable to do so, so their parents blew it out for them. With that, Lin and Tenzin began to cut and hand out cake to the kids first and to whoever wanted some.

As Lin handed out a piece of cake to the last person who wanted some, Tenzin came up to her.

Lin looked confused when he kept staring at her. "Yes, Tenz?" When he didn't respond, she was about to turn to walk to the kids until she was stopped by a feeling to her face. "TENZIN, WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!"

With everyone in complete shock for Tenzin slamming cake on his wife, he yelled out "Happy 10th Anniversary, Lin!"

Surprisingly, Lin wasn't mad, she however held Tenzin's head and shoved his face to what was left of their small anniversary cake. "Happy Anniversary, Twinkletoes!" She then moved close to his ear. "If you do that ever again, say goodbye to sleeping next to me for, hmm I don't know, a year or two!"

Tenzin stood straight up and smiled. He knew she was kidding. In the past years that they've lived together, she has gotten used to always sleeping by his side. She grew attached to Tenzin and she definitely loved him and their family. "I know, sweetie. I love you."

She smiled back at him and headed to the bathroom to clean herself up. When she was done, she went back to the party where all her and Tenzin's guest were enjoying themselves.

This was definitely a special day.

A/N: I failed to mention but in this story, both Aang and Sokka passed away a year after Mushi and Ikki were born so that means Korra is about 7 and won't appear for about 10 years. I never really planned out the kid's births so well but it makes sense since Lin isn't as young as Pema so unfortunately when Korra's introduced, everyone will basically be 10 years older than they should be ):

P.S. it's like 4 in the morning so sorry if I have some grammar mistakes. I get lazy by the time I'm done so I'm incredibly sorry.
