Thank you for the reviews, they make my day.

This is a shorter chapter, but I just wanted to give you all an update faster after what happened on the last chapter.

I'd love to hear what you think about it.

The next day, Puck got a call from his mother early in the morning. She had called the previous day, but Puck was just too drunk and disappointed with himself to talk to her. She would sense immediately that there was something wrong and he wouldn't be able to think of any other excuse. He was supposed to be ecstatic, since he got the promotion, but he was too ashamed to celebrate it.

"Hi, ma!"

"Hi, Noah! So, did you get it?"

He couldn't help but smile at his mom enthusiasm.

"Yes, ma, I did."

"I knew it! I'm so proud of you! Congratulations, son."

"Thanks Ma!" Despite everything, Puck was happy that he could make his mother proud. That's all he ever wanted.

"You don't sound too enthusiastic..." Ruth said, sensing there was something wrong.

"I am. I'm just a little hung over."

"You shouldn't drink too much, Noah, it's not good for you. We should celebrate. Tell Quinn I'm coming over next weekend, and we'll have dinner. She must be so proud of you."

At the mention of her name, his chest tightened. He was a jerk to her, treated her like dirt. Now, hearing his mother mention her name made him hate himself.

"Ma, I didn't mentioned it sooner but, Quinn and I... we broke up."

"What? Noah, no! What happened?"

"I don't know, it just didn't work out."

"She is such a nice girl! And beautiful, you'd have the most adorable babies. I really liked her, I'm sorry it didn't work out. I've never seen you as happy as you were when she was around. I thought she was the one." Ruth seemed genuinely sad.

"Yes ma, I thought so too." He hadn't realized how much he meant it until he said it out loud.

"Well dear, there's always Rachel, she's a sweet girl, you should give it another go."

As Ruth began to talk about Rachel, Puck tuned out of the conversation.

It's been a week since Quinn last saw Puck, but she still felt as humiliate as she felt in that restroom. She hasn't gotten over it and she thinks she never will. The blonde was angry all the time and how dare him, make her feel bad about herself and her job. Who the hell did he think he was? In a moment of bravery, Quinn took an envelope that sat on her coffee table and left her house. She would do what she's been thinking about doing during the whole week. She was going to give Puck a piece of her mind.

Fifteen minutes later, she was knocking on Puck's door. When there was no answer, she rang the door bell. Nobody answered once again, and she kept pushing the door bell, as the anger inside her started to grow.

Suddenly the door opened and an irritated Puck stood on the other side. But as soon as he saw who was there, his features softened and the anger turned to surprise.

He opened his mouth to say something (he had no idea what) but was greeted with Quinn's hand on his cheek. He knew he deserved the slap, but it still caught him off guard.

Immediately, she shoved the enveloped into his chest, intentionally pushing him a little bit. He grabbed it and was about to ask what was it when someone appeared on the door, behind him.

"Noah, who's...?" the voice trailed off. "Quinn Fabray?"

Quinn eyes startled and she gave Puck an incredulous look. "Rachel Berry, Puckerman?" Puck simply looked down.

"I thought you broke up?" said Rachel, irritated.

"Yes, I'm just returning some stuff he gave me that I don't want." said the blonde, looking at Puck.

He motioned for Rachel to go back inside, and she complied.

"You and Rachel? Wow, I guess you found someone else to hate instead of her." Said the blonde, as she turned her back to him and left. All she had to say just vanished from her mind when she saw Rachel standing there.

Puck stood there watching her go down the stairs. He wanted to go after her and say something, but he didn't know what. He was frozen in place, trying to wrap his head around what just happened, until he remembered of the envelope Quinn shoved at him. He opened it and there sat all the money he paid Quinn for all her services, since the trip to Lima for his sister's wedding including the money he threw at her last week. He swallowed hard and felt that, by now, familiar ache in his chest. She gave the money back and he didn't know what to make of it.

"Noah?" He heard Rachel calling him from inside. He totally forgot she was there, immersed in his thoughts about Quinn.

Rachel appeared out of the blue today and told Noah that she had talked to Ruth earlier and his mother mentioned that he and Quinn had broken up. So she decided to stop by and see if he was ok. That was her story. But, right before Quinn got there, Rachel was telling him how she thought they could get back together, that they were perfect for each other and should give another try. Puck was about to agree to it when they were interrupted by the doorbell. That's how much he wanted to forget about Quinn. But as soon as he saw the blonde on his door, he couldn't say yes to Rachel. Because what he felt looking at Quinn, the way she made him feel, he never felt anything even close to it with Rachel.

He looked at the brunette and started talking. "Rachel, it's not gonna happen."

She gave him a sad smile and asked. "It's her, isn't it? Quinn?"

Puck didn't say anything back, but he didn't really have to.

"I thought that, almost ten years after we're done with high school, Quinn and I wouldn't have to compete anymore. " said the brunette.

She was making her way to the door when Puck called out her name. She looked at him expectantly.

"There was never a competition. At least, not when it came to me."

Rachel nodded and left, without saying anything else.
