A/N okay, I'm done apologizing for late updates honestly most of it is me taking the time to get the chapters perfect with how I want the story to go and making/updating other stories. Anyways update here we go.
Disclaimer: I don't own Austin & Ally or anything else you might recognize.
She can't believe her eyes. No, no, no, this cannot be happening. It isn't true. She's obviously stuck in some sort of nightmare. Yeah, she's in a nightmare; a nightmare she's been living in since she younger.
Oh my god…
Even though it's right in front of her eyes and in her hands she doesn't want to believe it. Austin. Her Austin. No, please no. She doesn't want to believe it. But then again she does. Everything would make so much more sense.
Her heart's racing as she looks through more photos. It's definitely them. There's no way of denying it. She'd recognize that blonde hair anywhere. And just the proof is enough to put a hole in her heart, the place where she thought Austin could have filled.
Could still fill.
No! He lied to her. But she never did ask. He still should have told her. She probably seems like such an idiot and a bitch. Her mind keeps going from her side to his side, he's in wrong, she's in the wrong, she doesn't know what's going on anymore honestly.
Oh my god… She didn't know her best friend when she saw him. So she really did push all the memories away, and her dad really did burn all the pictures so he'd never enter her mind. It was almost like she had been, brainwashed.
Her dad couldn't have brainwashed her… could he? No, he couldn't and wouldn't have so then what happened? She briefly remembered getting a concussion when she ran into a wall from her being clumsy. Now that would make twenty times more sense then her dad brainwashing her.
Back in middle school after her second concussion was received from getting hit in the head with a dodgeball, she read they can cause memory loss… Memory loss plus trying to push the memories physically out, that's why can't remember Austin.
Although, seeing the picture does spark some memories, maybe if she saw more and more, and more she'd remember it all. Maybe everything would click together. But now she's back to wondering why didn't Austin confront her when they moved back?
That's mainly what's angering her. Is that why her dad had gone over to the Moon's without her their first day back? To tell Austin not to tell her. This is all too confusing and complicated.
She doesn't even know where to start trying to figure things out. Go to Mimi, go to her dad, go to Austin, or even go to Mike? She just doesn't know and her mind is swirling with possibilities of what could be going on and what went on.
Breathing heavily, she runs to the bathroom and starts the water. She needs to get her mind off things, she needs to confront Austin, no, mind off of things. Mind off of things. She repeats over and over again in her head.
Staring at the empty baseball diamond, Austin sighs as he looks back down at the picnic table. Finally having enough of just sitting down, he takes his bat bag down to the dugout and immediately starts putting his cleats on.
He needs to clear his head before this game, but he has no idea what's happening. Ally is honestly scaring him lately. Every time they do things now she'll zone out and he doesn't understand why at all. He wonders if it's just her being tired and out of it or something else wrong.
Shaking his head, he goes out onto the field with his bat, a bucket of baseballs and a tee, setting it up at home plate, he places a ball down on top of the tee. Hitting on the field has always been his best distraction for as long as he can remember.
Ally still doesn't know they've known each other since she was born. Hit.
Their dads still don't want her to know because they're hoping she'll break down finally. Hit.
He doesn't know if he'll ever be able to tell her he's in love with her. Hit.
That he's sorry for what he said after she moved the first time. Hit.
If Ally's mom hadn't died she would have never forgotten. Hit.
His dad has been in control of his life for so long. Hit.
He's eighteen and has never made a choice for himself. Hit.
And the only choice he wants to make is about telling Ally. Hit.
"If you hit one of those balls any harder it's gonna go into the woods, down a creek and end up in the ocean." he hears a voice shout with laughter clear in their voice. "Although I don't know if that's quite possible…"
"Hey Cass," he says in reply, as he hits another ball, this one going into the foul range. Letting out a loud yell, almost scream he chucks his bat back causing it to hit the fence out of the power in his throw.
Not expecting the noise, Cassidy jumps as the fence shakes from the impact and makes a repetitive noise. Looking over at the blonde boy who's now laying on his back in the grass, she lets out a sigh before walking over to him.
Placing a hand on his shoulder, she leans over him and smiles lightly. "Rough day?"
"I think something's wrong with Ally." he responds not once looking at her as she lies down beside him. "She kept like… like zoning out today while we were riding Sadie. It was weird."
"Zoning out?" she asked, thinking for a moment. "You know Ally actually had mentioned that happening since she got here, she thinks it could be stress or maybe she's remembering things from living here when there's a reference to a memory? The second part is my opinion though so who knows."
Thinking for a moment he wonders about that. It could be stress but it could be memories coming back in flashbacks. Maybe, almost like a daydream. Memories can come back to somebody when they're reminded of something right?
If he remembers correctly he had seen that in movies and on TV, so maybe just maybe that could be it. He could honestly only hope.
Having Ally remember everything, although could be good yes, it could also be very depressing. Then she would learn again what he had said when she moved, remember the pain of her mother's death, all the sadness from her childhood.
"Do you think I should tell Ally of our past?" he questions, not really paying attention to Cassidy.
"I think that's honestly a question you need to ask yourself." she says, before pausing for a moment while trying to think of how to word her next statement perfectly. "Although, I say you should. She might be pissed off at you completely or she could be ecstatic! You never know unless you do it. But I'll tell you this; I see a connection between you two and I wouldn't waste it if I were you."
Looking down at Scarlett in her lap, she wonders what it would be like to be a carefree child again. Life was so much simpler then. Even if her grandparents did die, she had her mother to enjoy for a good couple of years, what she wouldn't give for all the memories to come back to her.
If only they had caught the cancer sooner, none of this would have happened. None of it. But then again, it wasn't her mom's fault she got the cancer. Ultimately, it was in God's plan for her, and that just really sucks.
"Um, Mimi," Ally starts, running her fingers through the young girl's hair. "I found an interesting picture in Austin's room this afternoon."
"Did you now?" the older women asks, turning her head from the baseball game to face the teenager.
Nodding her head, Ally carefully fishes the picture out of her pocket and smoothes it out before handing it to Mimi. While the blonde was grabbing her glasses, little hands grasped the picture from Ally's hand and took a look at it. "That's you Ally!" Scarlett said, smiling innocently.
"She's right," Mimi says, sighing and rubbing her temples. "I'm sorry you found out this way, I didn't want you to."
"So Austin, really was my best friend growing up and him and my dad have been keeping secrets from me this whole time?" Ally asks, ignoring the wetness building in her eyes. "I wonder how many other things my dad has kept from me since he obviously had no problem keeping this."
Looking at the brunette in concern, Mimi wrapped her arms her and held her tight to her chest, practically squishing Scarlett between them. This was not supposed to happen when Ally came back home, everybody should have just gone back to how it was before. Mimi was not happy at all with her husband, son, or Lester.
The fact that they didn't even think of how much they could hurt Ally if she found out, hurt more then actually finding out. It just didn't make sense to the girl. As far as she knew her and her dad were close, no secrets. Except for the fact that she never did actually deny the rumors back in Miami that were nowhere near true.
She knew he believed them, so there was no point trying to change his mind. That was never possible with him. Once he set his mind on something, that was the truth and that was the only truth. That's obviously why he never told her this.
All the times when she was younger she had told him she didn't want to remember her past. And she didn't… at the time. But now, knowing those things would fill a giant gap in her life. She would know Austin and her mom and her childhood and why they moved and she would remember everything.
If her father wouldn't have that mind set he would have tried to help her remember things after each of her concussions. She wished she could go back and ask him to, ask him not to burn all the pictures of her and her best friend just because of something they -Austin- said.
Without even noticing from being so lost in her thoughts, the baseball game had reached the ninth ending and the team was getting their stuff together. Although she did notice when a figure had wrapped a coat around her shoulders.
Looking back, she jumps slightly as she sees Austin give her a small smile, his sweaty hair sticking to his forehead. Biting her lip, she fakes a small smile and hands Scarlett to Austin and in response he swung his cousin around laughing, shouting about how they won the game.
Pursing her lips, she decides it's time. She needs to do this now while she's still thinking about it and while he isn't attempting to make her swoon and melt. It's now or never, no more time for turning back, she's going to do this.
"Austin, can we go to your truck alone." she asks, her voice sharp with an edge. "It's very important."
Nodding his head, he sets Scarlett back down and starts walking behind Ally. His mind was full of curiosity, not having a single clue what could be happening. Since they were going to be alone, he figures he could finally ask Ally to be his official girlfriend and go steady with him.
Yes, he finally could. He's been trying to figure out a way to do it and a way to get her alone but she did it for him. How lucky is he for that? This could be perfect, this will be perfect.
Once inside the truck, they both turn to each other and say things at the exact same time, although each sentence the complete opposite of the other.
"Will you be my girlfriend?"
"Why didn't you tell me I was your best friend from growing up?"
They both pause and stop, looking shocked at the other. That was not what either had expected to come out. Although Ally figured he would ask soon, she didn't expect it tonight and knowing what she knows now just makes her heart ache.
"No. No, I can't." she whispers, before leaving his truck and running across the parking lot to Cassidy and Trish at Dallas' car. Looking back over at him, she sees him hit the steering wheel before getting out of his truck, ignoring Mimi and Scarlett's calls, never once looking back.
Reviews are sorta very cool.
