So I'm awful and I know it. In my defense I had a weird couple of weeks. Was house sitting for a while and the house is overrun with animals, no joke. Also school is in that incredibly busy time. I wrote an entire essay tonight :p so apologize if this sucks. I just wanted to write something I actually enjoy after that torture. Anyways its short but let me know what you think. You guys rock and thanks for putting up with my randomly timed updates.
Tony was going home and he was practically bouncing off the walls. He felt like it had been ages since he had been out of the room and the thought of looking at something new was glorious. He knew that he was going to be stuck at Gibbs' house for the next 3 weeks to a month but still, anywhere was better than the hospital. Plus with Gibbs going to work everyday, he would be able to get away with way more than Maddy ever let him.
"Someone's excited. Sit down Tony, you are still supposed to take it easy." Maddy said wryly from the doorway.
"But Maddy! How can I possibly sit down when I am finally allowed out of my bed? I'm free, woman and I feel great!" Tony said just as his leg buckled and he fell to the ground.
"Yeah, you look like you are doing real good there Tony." Maddy sighed as she helped haul him to his feet and deposited him on the bed. "Tony you have serious injuries and just because you are going home doesn't mean that you are healed. Honestly you should stay here another few days but Gibbs insists that he can handle you."
"Believe me, he will be resting. I'll make sure of it." Gibbs said sternly as he stalked into the room. Tony immediately settled back into the bed and smiled innocently. "Not fooling anyone DiNozzo. Stay there, I've got to talk to Maddy for a minute." Gibbs said as he gestured for Maddy to move to the hallway.
Maddy turned to face Gibbs as he closed the door to just a crack. "How is he doing, really? I know DiNozzo. He'll never admit it when he is in pain and he will act like he doesn't feel anything. He will push himself past the limit and end up causing himself more problems. What should he be allowed to do at this point?" Gibbs said as he peered into the room at the pouting Tony.
"Honestly Gibbs, for most people I would say strict bed rest. However I think Tony would go insane. I'm not saying you should let him do what he wants but at this point he could probably get himself around the house but shouldn't do any strenuous activity."
Gibbs nodded to himself, already planning ways to make sure that Tony took it easy. He knew from past experience that Tony would be restless after a couple days. Then he grinned at Maddy before talking louder. "Tony you have 3 seconds to get back in that bed before I open this door." Maddy laughed at the muffled curse that followed and went to get the discharge papers.
Gibbs entered the room and frowned at the sprawled body of his agent. "You know better than to eavesdrop on private conversations Tony." He scolded gently.
Tony glared back unrepentantly. "You know better than to talk about someone behind their back. I had every right to hear that conversation."
"Come on Tony. You know that if I asked how you were doing while you were there you would insist you were fine. I needed her honest opinion, not her attempting to cover for you." Gibbs said calmly. It had happened before, when Tony lied and the nurse had been too nervous to go against him. He wasn't risking it again. "Besides kid, its my job to watch out for you, even from yourself."
"You could have asked her in front of me. Trust me, Maddy isn't about to let me get away with anything. Now lets get out of here boss." Tony said with a faint whine in his voice.
Gibbs smiled back at Tony's quickly changing emotions. The kid never could hold a grudge, too forgiving especially when it came to Gibbs. "We're going kid, just have to sign some papers." Just then Maddy entered pushing an empty wheelchair and passing Tony the discharge papers. Tony hastily scrawled a semblance of a signature and tried to slip around Gibbs. "DiNozzo, you know the drill. Just sit in the damn chair and save yourself the argument." Tony stared defiantly back at him but Gibbs stared right back. He waited patiently for Tony to back down and nodded when the kid settled into the chair with a muffled grunt. He tapped the back of Tony's head lightly and nodded towards Maddy.
Tony immediately flashed her a grin. "Thanks for everything Maddy. See ya next time."
"No rush Tony. Stay out of trouble for a while. Give me some time to recuperate will you?" Maddy requested.
Tony winked. "Yes ma'am. I'll make sure to give you enough time to lower your guard." With that Gibbs rolled him towards the exit. As the door opened to the parking lot Tony let out an exuberant shout "Freedom!"
