Ok so Cresselia just ran away, you already know this I know but I'm the author so DEAL WITH IT! Sorry, I'm going through a lot when I wrote this. You know, school and stuff. Plus my more popular story will be or has ended abruptly because I have no inspiration for it and have kind of lost interest in the next series of books. Whatever, not your problem so read and review. Why doesn't R&R get that across?
For Better, or Worse?
(Darkrai POV)
His heartbeat vibrated in his ears as he walked up the stairway. In his arms was his run away girlfriend. He was happy to have her here, with him, not marrying that creature. His joy almost caused him to overlook some crucial facts; she was here willingly, Arceus would find out she was here, he would call kidnapping, and war would quickly follow. Good, he though, his somewhat old sadist side thought, I can now show him that you do not mess in my affairs. Darkrai shook his head, what was he thinking, and were did that come from? He hadn't had that voice in his head since the arena fight and even before that, it had been years since it had emerged in his mind. He cast the thoughts aside when he felt Cresselia press against him.
"I'm truly glad I'm here Darkrai, that steed of yours is incredible," Cresselia said, the long ride and excitement was finally catching up to her. Cresselia murmured as she stumbled forwards slightly. Darkrai quickly grabbed her.
"Are you ok?" he asked, she muttered as with her eyes closed. Darkrai picked her up and carried her bridal style the rest of the way up. He turned his head to gaze at her, then, that voice re appeared in his head.
Look at her, so peaceful and beautiful. She'll be your queen, and you need to protect her. She's yours and no one else's. You need to kill all those who want to take her from you! Darkrai inwardly gasped at his own thought. He had changed, what in the world? You agree with me don't you? You have the skill, the power, and the drive. You can conquer anything! Don't let anything take what's yours! And she is yours! The voice was right, she was his, and he had the power to protect her, to take what she wants, to conquer all! Wait, what was he thinking? Darkrai was so caught up in his thoughts; he almost did not notice the door. He stopped his mind and that voice from debating any further. He opened the door to the spare room, the twin size bed in the center of the room brown sheets stood out in the poorly colored room. He re-considered this room and moved to his own room. His bleach white comforter was a unique compared to the otherwise black painted room. He pulled it back and the red sheets beneath the white comforter. He tucked Cresselia under and turned to leave when he felt a hand grab him. He turned to see Cresselia's ruby eyes staring up at him.
"Don't leave, please stay," Cresselia asked him, her eyes begging. Darkrai's eyes widened. The idea of being in the same bed as her was very…unorthodox. A blush raced across his face as he averted his eyes and tried to summon the will to say no. He was unable to and got onto the bed. Rather than being under the covers, he simply laid down on the bed. Cresselia wrapped an arm around him and rolled him so they could see eye to eye. She then pulled herself close and placed her head on his chest and both drifted to sleep
Hours later, they woke up. Cresselia blushed bright at the position she was in. She quickly rolled over, waking Darkrai. He simply sat up, without opening his eyes, got up, yawning, he then opened his eyes. He turned and jumped when he saw Cresselia lying under his covered. The memories rushed back to him as well as a bright blush. She quickly sat up onto the bed.
"So, um, what now?" Cresselia asked.
"What do you mean?" Darkrai asked.
"I mean, I've ran away from my father, my brothers, my home to come here and be with you, what happens now?" Cresselia asked. Darkrai pondered this for a moment.
"Well, one thing would be you become the future queen of Darkland. I will make you as happy as I can here, for choosing to be with me," Darkrai said with a smile as he sat down next her on the white bed. "Another is the imitate and probably brutal war for you and Darkland." Cresselia gasped.
"War! Oh no! I didn't think that might happen! Wait, what exactly is a war?" Cresselia asked. Darkrai looked at her astonished for a moment, then he remembered about the highly sheltered life that her father gave her.
Darkrai sighed and drew a breath; "War is when two or more groups of people or pokémon engage in drawn out battles. These fights will occur over a territory, land, or for the soul point of destroying the other. Wars do not end until one side gives in and stops sending troops to fight each other, or the groups agree to a treaty not to fight any longer or for that moment. Wars cost a lot of life and bring death and the possibility of wealth beyond dreams. But I would rather earn wealth by hard work and achievement than by blood spilled on a sword."
Cresselia's eyes were wide with shock and confusion, still uncertain of what that meant. Then they lit up when she figured it out.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry! I can't be the cause of that! If it means that won't happen, I'll go back and," Cresselia started.
"NO!" Darkrai yelled, cutting her off. "You can't go back! You'd have to marry Deoxys if you do! I will die before I let that happen now!" Cresselia looked at him with wide eyes, shocked at the sudden outburst.
"But if I stay you will die, and so will thousands of your people," Cresselia said.
"No I will not, I am more skilled in combat than anyone in this land, and as for the people, they will die defending their homes and their families as will I if I do die."
"But Darkrai, don't you think your being, well, selfish?" Cresselia asked. This caught him off guard. Was he being selfish?
"I don't know, but I know how to make a decision. You are right, I am thinking of only myself. I will ask the people of Darkland what they think and make my decision from there," Darkrai said. He smiled at her. "After that, I would like to introduce you to my mother. She will hopefully be very pleased to meet you."
The next day, Darkrai had gathered everyone in a square in front of the castle. Darkrai and Cresselia stepped out onto the steps before the crowd, barely a few feet higher than the peasants in front of him. Cresselia was amazed at this, her father only spoke to crowds from a balcony high above them, but Darkrai was going to make his announcement mere feet above them and so close a literal wall of guards stood at the base of the stairs. Cresselia looked down at her green dress. There were no flowers or stars or any design, just a simple long sleeve dress colored green with gold lining. She felt under dressed in it, but accepted the design as Darkrai insisted she wear it as not to place herself above others.
"Citizens of Darkland!" Darkrai shouted out, gathering the crowd's attention. "I have great and terrible news to bring to you! The good news is I might soon have a queen to sit beside me on the throne! This beautiful lady is my queen!" Darkrai motioned to Cresselia, who blushed at the compliment and the noises from the crowd. She meekly waved back. "Her name is Cresselia, I expect the same compassion you have shown me to her!"
"Cresselia, isn't that Arceus' daughter?" Someone in the crowd yelled.
"Yeah that is her name. That's Arceus' daughter! What's she doing here?" Someone else yelled followed by a loud mumble of repletion and agreement.
"Silence! Yes, Cresselia, daughter of Arceus, my greatest source of scrutiny, is the woman I have been courting for the past few months. And meeting with her has brought me much love and happiness," Darkrai announced in a matter of fact tone. The crowd muttered to themselves at this news. Cresselia felt knots ties in her stomach. And some beautifies' at Darkrai's comment about 'courting' her for months. "This brings me to the bad news. To avoid an arranged marriage with Prince Deoxys, Cresselia has run away from Lifaria, to here. I have no doubt that Arceus will claim kidnapping and war will follow."
"Wait, she was in an arranged marriage to Prince pervert?" Someone said.
"Well good for her for leaving that awful man," an older woman said.
"Do you love her Prince Darkrai?" Another man asked.
"Yes, with all my heart," Darkrai said taking a glance back at Cresselia.
"Well then, I say, if Arceus want's her back, he'll just have to take her!" A member of the crowd yelled.
"Yeah, if she makes you happy she should stay here!"
"Deoxys is no way someone any woman should marry!"
"She make you happy. I'll die before I let Arceus take that from you Darkrai!"
"No way I'm letting anyone take Darkland's future queen from us!"
The crowd quickly became an uproar of agreement and shouts of encouragement to fight back; no one wanted to back down from this. Both the Darkrai and Cresselia were shocked at the crowd's response. Darkrai knew that his people would go down fighting but always agreed on and insisted avoiding war with Lifaria. The sheer enthusiasm for the allowing the conflict to occur astonished him. He looked back at Cresselia with wide surprised eyes, her own near perfectly mirrored his own. He turned back to the crowd
"Is this really what you all want? You have all told me many a time to avoid war with this kingdom. Arceus will not stop until I am dead or Cresselia has returned and even then will continue to raid and attack us," Darkrai said, worry in his voice. A universal cheer came from the crowd, agreeing to the risk. They were all in for defending their future queen. Darkrai dismissed the crowd and, taking Cresselia's hand, walked back into the castle.
(Arceus POV)
"RAAA!" Arceus roared and broke another metal punching bag. He had ordered the creation of about 20 so he could vent his anger and frustration of his daughter's kidnapping. He had heard the reports of her retaliation and escape to Darkland, but believe it was in fear or something. His sons watched him with worry. "BRING ME ANOTHER!" He yelled. They brought out the 10th bag.
"Father, aren't you being a bit excessive?" Palkia asked.
"Yes, this is a waste of raw metal and damaging to your hands," Dialga pointed out.
"SILENCE! I AM VERY ANGRY RIGHT NOW!" Arceus yelled. One of the servants placed a tray of food in front of the twins.
"My god, I haven't seen him this angry since his divorce," The servant said.
"You were there?" Dialga asked. The human servant nodded.
"Yes, my name is Mark by the way. I have been in the service of Lord Arceus for many years. I was serving him when he and Giratina were a new couple. They seemed so happy, then it happened," Mark said.
"What's it?" Palkia asked.
"That is something you should ask you father, Giratina, or Rayquaza," Mark said, sharply saying the last two names. He turned and left. The boys looked at each other.
"You want to ask?" Palkia said.
"No, you?" Dialga responded. Palkia shook his head.
"No, but I want to know," Palkia said.
"Well, how about we both ask him?" Dialga proposed Palkia thought for a second, then agreed. They slowly approached Arceus, who was currently beating the heck out of the metal bag huge dents covered the bag.
"Arceus," Palkia started.
"We have something to ask you," Dialga said. Arceus gave one last heavy punch into the bag, sending it flying into the wall.
"What?" Arceus said sharply, panting.
"What happened between you and Giratina?" Palkia questioned.
"Mark said it was something between you, her, and Rayquaza." Dialga said. Arceus teeth clenched.
"I don't want to talk about that now!" Arceus said.
"No, we want to know now!" Both of princes said in union. Their tone surprised Arceus. He stared at them for a few moments, their faces boar determination. They wouldn't let him leave without giving them an answer.
"Fine, you want to know what happened?" Arceus said, anger building in his voice. The two nodded. He clenched his fists. "THE BITCH CHEATED ON ME! THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED!" His sons' eyes widened. "MY 'PRIZED STUDENT' SECRETLY RETURNED AND SLEPT WITH HER!"
"What?" Dialga meekly said.
"THAT'S RIGHT! RAYQUAZA CAME BACK ONCE WHILE I WAS UNAWARE AND HE AND GIRATINA WENT AT IT ON OUR BED! I CAUGHT THEM IN THE ACT!" His voice boomed; "I CONFRONTED RAYQUAZA ABOUT THIS AND HE DENIED THE EVENT EVER OCCURRING, WHEN I KNOW HE SAW ME PEERING INTO MY CHAMBER WHILE THEY ******! I NEVER TOLD GIRINTINA, SEEING AS I KNOW SHE WOULD ALSO DENY IT! SO I DIVORCED HER AND THEN HE MOVES IN WITH HER! I DON'T KNOW WHO EXACTLY IS THE FATEHR OF DARKRAI IS BUT I'M WILLING TO BET MY CROWN IT'S HIM!" Arceus turned and stormed off, his own sweat evaporating from the heat of his rage and hate. The twins stood there, dumbstruck.
Ok, so that's it for this chapter. Is what Arceus said true, or not.
