Chapter 12 – Broken

"Hey," he cradled her face In his hands, "You don't have to worry. I'm right here. I've always been right here, and I'll never leave you, not if I can help it." She managed a smile, and he reassured her with a hug, and a kiss on the forehead. "Besides, we're here together," he paused, "alone." She laughed at his suggestion. "No one is here to do anything to me, well, besides you." She had no idea what had gotten into him lately, but she liked it. His spontaneity was pleasing her. Grissom bent his eyes down to her level and checked to see if she was alright, she tried to hold back a smile, but he managed to get it out of her by tickling her.

"Feel better?" he asked, rubbing her arm. "Yea," she smiled, "I do." "Well then, my dear, let's eat."

They sat across from each other as they ate. Their left hands met in the middle of the table, and they ate with the others. He watched her silently as she ate, and was surprised when she wanted seconds. "Weeelll," she said, raising an eyebrow, "we haven't exactly eaten much." "Oh," he laughed, "right." He waited at the table watching her until she was finished, and then he collected up the dirty dishes, and washed them.

Once he was finished, he found Sara relaxing on the bed. "Is it broken?" he joked. "No," she bounced lightly on it, "I don't think so." "Good," he smirked. "I'm gonna get in the shower, okay?" She gave him an approving nod, "Good, you're dirty." She giggled as she watched him disappear behind the door.

After only 5 minutes had gone by, she couldn't take it anymore, so she silently slipped into the bathroom, shed her clothes, and stepped in behind him. He turned and smiled upon seeing her there. "I wanted to be with you."
