Author's Note: Does anyone still read this story? Anyone out there...? I haven't updated in such a long time that I'm pretty sure no one remembers what it was about. I'll be genuinely surprised if I get more than two reviews in my inbox.
Anyway, I noticed Fairy Tail is moving up in the ranks of Fan Fiction! Over 19,000 fan fictions for it! When I first joined Fan Fiction, there were about 11 or 12,000 fan fictions for it; now, after only a year, it gained about 7 or 8,000 more! This means that Fairy Tail is getting popular!
Okay, let's get on with the story!
Disclaimer: I wouldn't have Gray just flat out refuse Juvia's love (yeah, I'm looking at you Mashima .)!
The Day We Disappeared -
Chapter 12:
Lumin's Point of View
I had been sleeping soundly when I heard Nebula's whimpers. Then the smell of tears hit me. My eyes instantly opened and my head whipped towards her. Even in the dark, I could see her squirming in her bed. I caught a glimpse of her face, and pure fear was etched onto it. I quickly got up from my warm and comfortable bed, then made my way over to her.
Nebula continued to toss and turn, not being able to rest. Her bedsheets and purple hair clung to her from the sweat she was producing. Tears were steadily pouring down her cheeks and she once in awhile made a whimper from her parted lips.
"Nebula, wake up; it's just a bad dream..." I said while shaking her gently. She stirred slightly and mumbled incoherently, but didn't wake up. "Neb, wake up." I shook her a little harder this time, and she slowly began to wake up. Her golden eyes were filled to the brim with pure fear, and it made me slightly worried. What could have possibly been in that dream to scare the daylights out of Nebula?
"Lumin...?" she questioned quietly. "I... Wh-What time is it?" I looked over to the dimly lit Clock Lacrima and gave her the time.
"It's 2:00 in the morning," I said, and Nebula lowered her head. I could already tell she was starting to blame herself for waking me up so early; she knew that I liked to sleep. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to wake you up..."
"Nah, it's okay," I replied. "This is the third night this has happened though..." my expression and tone turned serious, "Wanna tell me what happened?" Nebula fiddled with her fingers and she wouldn't look me in the eye. I raised an eyebrow at this, but didn't pry any further.
Sighing, I sat down on the bed with her before stretching out next to her. Nebula glanced at me, already knowing what I was implying. She immediately laid her head on my chest, and I protectively wrapped my arm around her. Both of us sat in comfortable silence. Soon though, Nebula's breathing evened out, and she fell asleep again. This time, it looked as though she were having a more peaceful dream than the previous one.
Unfortunately, I couldn't fall asleep now. I was too awake from what happened with Nebula and her bad dreams. This whole dream business started that day we first entered that town... After she saw Acnologia, she began having bad dreams for three straight days. Every time we asked her about it, she would shrug and say it was nothing, but we could tell from the fear in her eyes and the nervousness in her smile that it wasn't just "nothing".
We begged Astra to try and read her mind to see what it was. She finally gave in and attempted to read her mind; it was only after a few minutes that Astra said she couldn't access her thoughts.
"It's like some external force is blocking me out..." she mumbled surprised. The rest of us were surprised also. Astra could read anyone's mind, whether it be the mind of a Wizard Saint or a drooling baby. What person or thing could be powerful enough to block Astra out?
After that, we didn't know what to do about Nebula. We were forced into a spot we didn't like. We couldn't help Nebula out until she told us what was going on, and who knows how long it could take before she decided to let us know what was bothering her. I sighed, not wanting to wait for her. Waiting was never something I was good at; that was Nebula's thing. I was the one who acted first and thought of consequences later.
But how am I going to get it out of her? I thought to myself. That question kept circling in my head, and it eventually lulled me to sleep.
"...min! Lumin! LUMIN!" a voice yelled worriedly. I desperately wanted to ignore the voice and go back to sleep, but the voice kept nagging me to get up. Finally, I cracked one eye open. Light blinded me for a second, and I realized it was morning. When I looked over to the owner of the voice, I saw it belonged to Aquamarine. She had a frantic and worried look on her face, and I got the feeling that something was very, very wrong.
"Nebula is missing!"
~With Fairy Tail~
Just as the note requested, Nova headed over to the Blooming Lily as soon as the competition part started. She felt bad for not cheering on Gray and Juvia, but she needed to see what this was about too.
When Nova arrived at the Blooming Lily, she looked around for Rogue. She didn't see him, so she chose a booth near the back of the Parlor and ordered a chocolate milkshake. Then she waited for Rogue. After a while she ordered a banana split and a chocolate waffle cone, then waited again for him. Time passed, and there was still no sign of Rogue. Sighing, she left the money for her food on the table and got up to leave. As much as she didn't want to believe it, she knew her doubts were right.
This was just a trick played by Sabertooth.
Nova felt angry and hurt at this. She was angry and hurt because she fell for it; this would also mean everything Rogue said wasn't true, and was just to get her to come out here and sit there like she was stood up. She also felt that Rogue could change with a little help, and was instantly let down when he didn't show up.
Nova was so lost in her own feelings that she didn't pay attention to her surroundings. She was walking full speed to the entrance when she crashed into someone. Both she and the person tumbled to the floor. She squealed as she felt the person under her hit the floor, and she landed on top of them. There was a deep-voiced grunt, and she guessed it was a man. When she glanced up to apologize to him, she was surprised to see it was Rogue. Somewhere in the corner of the parlor, a camera flashed, but neither Rogue or Nova noticed.
"Silly, you can be so air-headed sometimes," Rogue said as he flicked her nose. "Is this how we're going to meet from now on? Because I could get used to this then." he jokingly said. Nova blushed; the first time they met was because she absentmindedly ran into Rogue. Smiling, she shook her head and got up before helping Rogue up.
"Took you long enough to get here!" Nova said with more cheerfulness than she usually has.
"It was harder than I thought to get out of the Stadium..." Rogue said. "Because I was a competitor, they were reluctant to let me out." Nova nodded, and cursed herself for forgetting that.
"Hey, is that Rogue-sama from Sabertooth...?" A girl whispered to her friend. Both Nova and Rogue's Dragonslayer hearing picked up on the comment.
"Yeah, that looks like him... But who is that girl with him? I hope it's not his girlfriend..." her friend whispered back. Nova blushed at this, and when she glanced at Rogue, she saw that his cheeks were red also.
"I do too!" the girl said. "She isn't even that cute!" Nova looked down at her feet. Rogue seemed to think she was cute... Nova abruptly stopped thinking that and mentally slapped herself. She was a part of Fairy Tail, and she already knew that her friends would never approve of their relationship.
Nova felt a tug on her hand, and she looked up to see Rogue's slightly red cheeks. He seemed to be uncomfortable with the two girls conversation too.
"Come on, let's go somewhere else..." he said as he began pulling Nova towards the exit, but not before passing a Vision Lacrima displaying the Games. What they heard made them pause.
"And the competition is over! As usual, Sabertooth wins!" Chapati, the host said. Nova and Rogue froze up, then slowly turned to the Lacrima. "... Fairy Tail's B team with one point, and Fairy Tail's A team having gained no points!"
"Come on!" Nova yelled as she began running towards the Stadium. Rogue stumbled a bit, but soon matched his pace with hers. He didn't let go of her hand, Nova noticed. She smiled at this action and wondered what would become of their relationship.
"It seems like we'll never have time though..." Nova mumbled sadly to herself. Rogue heard her, and also thought the same thing. He found Nova to be interesting, with her quirky ways; he wanted to get to know more about her, and see where their relationship would go.
Finally the two reached the Stadium. It was crowded with spectators, so they had to slow their pace, though their minds were yelling at them to hurry. They made it inside after what seemed like forever, and Rogue released his grip on Nova's hand and turned to her
"I guess we'll have to make another date, huh?" Rogue said. Nova nodded. "Then I'll see you this afternoon, after the Games end." he grabbed the back of Nova's head and pulled her head towards him. Nova was confused at first, but then she felt something soft and warm quickly press against her forehead. Another camera flash went off, and again Rogue and Nova paid no attention to it.
"I'll see you later!" Rogue called out as he turned and blended with the crowd. Nova reached out her hand to stop him, but he was already gone. She stayed where she was, wondering if he knew what he did. Sighing, she gave up and began walking, only to run into Aster. He happened to be looking for her.
"Nova there you are!" Aster said as he ran up to his sister. "We've been looking-" Aster stopped mid-sentence and narrowed his eyes at her. Once again, she pretended to look confused at him.
"Aster, what's wrong?" Nova said. He began sniffing the air around her, and she unconsciously took a step back.
"You smell like Rogue... His scent's mixed in with yours..." he growled out. "Nova, if he did anything to hurt you, I swear I'll-"
"I just ran into him; literally..." she replied. Nova felt bad for lying to her brother. He was the closest person to her, and lying to him felt like lying to herself. "There were so many people here that I got lost looking for the bathroom," Nova said. Aster still looked at her skeptically but shrugged his shoulders and walked with her back to where Fairy Tail was seated. Nova tried to pay attention to the match, which was Lucy against Flare from Raven Tail, but all she could think about was what Rogue had planned for them this afternoon.
Author's Notes: Well, I finally finished this chapter. This was actually in my notebook for quite a while, but I couldn't find any time to finish it.
Anyway, What happened to Nebula? Where did she go? And what are Nova and Rogue up to (It's forbidden love!)? We'll find out in the next chapter of The Day We Disappeared!
