"So Jimmy..your friend is nice" Bill said, sounding rather awkward. James could tell he was building up to something else, what he really wanted to talk about.

"He is!" Sulley said, "He's a little nervous thought, so try to excuse any misgivings"

That was when Molly piped in, oven mitts covering her paws "Ohh James, you don't need to worry about us. I think he's just delightful, right Bill" She nudged him. "Yeah he's nice enough" Bill said "but James, he's an Omega, are you sure it will work?" He leaned on the table as he talked, keeping quiet in case Randall could hear. There were so many response's Sulley could make at that, but before he could his mother chimed in, hitting Bill on the head lightly with the handle of a spatula. "Don't be silly, Omegas were made to be with Alphas" She smiled delighted; she was a highly educated woman with a diploma in Evolutionary biology. Before Betas, there were only the two social classes.

"Listen, this doesn't matter, were not dating" Sulley put up his paws up in defense, his mother's face fell in disappointment, his father looked more surprised than anything.

"I guess that's settled" Bill said, happy to go back to his business, mainly sniffing the cooking food. But Molly wouldn't let it go. "But you moved in together!"

"I lived with Mike for almost ten years" Sulley argued back.

"You never talked about Mike the way you talk about this one.." She informed with a sly, clever smile. Sulley blushed hard, embarrassed by her "Mom really, he's not interested"

Bill scoffed "Not interested? But you're a Sullivan?" He was completely taken back, how an Omega could have such impossibly high standards that not even an Alpha with the longest running scare record at Monsters Inc could get a date with him.

"He's just not ready for anything serious like that" Sulley said with a weak smile.

Molly seemed content to let the topic go, but not without the final word "Well.. He must see something in you considering he agreed to come along tonight" She gave him a confident smile, one she always gave Sulley to help him cheer up. For a moment Sulley could find some joy in what she said, until he remembered that Randall was here for other reasons as well, and was dragged very much against his wishes.

"Too high hat for wine too good for my son…" Bill murmured "Bloody impossible standards"

"Well, there's something else I came here to tell you.." James started, treading carefully as he didn't want to give anyone a heart attack. "I know it's not the traditional way to go about this.. so don't be mad" Sulley tried to soften the blow, Bill looked up to his son as Molly attended to her stove, listening with her back turned. "Randall and I are having a child…" He said, looking sheepish as he brushed the back of his neck. Molly practically jumped as she turned to face her son; Bill just stared, looking rather horrified. "What?" He asked, his mouth hanging open.

"You're going to be a grandfather.." He re-worded, although Bill's question was most likely hypothetical. James saw his mother put her paws up to her mouth, over whelmed by the joy of finally having another baby around the house, but Bill was less pleased "How- but you said he was not interested!"

Sulley swallowed hard "It's complicated.. and He's not, I'd prefer you try not to bring this up around him also"

"Ohh Bill, stop complaining! This is fantastic news" She walked over to her son, putting her paws on his cheeks "My boy is finally going to know the joys of fatherhood!" she kissed him lovingly on the cheek " We can fetch your old baby stuff from the attic, I still have the little onesies you use to wear" She gave a sweet smile. "I can't wait to go through it all" he gleamed

"Give it a few months Moll, It won't be for a while" He assumed, based on how little it was noticeable. "Well it's better to get organized earlier, before feet get swollen and back's begin to ach"

"I think dad is right mom, we should just enjoy diner tonight, I don't want to stay too late, I have work in the morning" He actually didn't mind late nights with is folks, but knew Randall was eager to get home, but didn't want any ill feelings towards him when they had only just met.

Molly wouldn't argue with that, she could find the boxes and reminisce on her own if she was too excited to wait for another meet up, it would be faster for the boys if he found the boxes beforehand. Before Molly could offer they go to visit the 'mother to be' or before Bill could continue to question his son about how this whole thing came about, the lights flickered then shut off entirely, the house's low humming generator also shut down, along with anything electronic.

"Not another black out" Molly said disappointed as every electronic in the house was inoperable, and would need to be reset. She turned to the oven that now stopped producing heat and would soon begin to cool. "And the food was almost ready too" She pouted, pressing at the buttons, knowing it was hopeless until the power came back on but trying anyway. Sulley was all to use to the blackouts that had been happening for a few months now, and even began happening in the city, it seemed the screams he and the others were collecting just weren't enough.

"I guess dinner can wait, it's not important right now." She turned back to the table; she probably would not be able to eat with her joy right now anyway. "Let's go see the mommy to be" Molly offered "You boys have left him alone all this time with no company…" She began walking around the table.

'ohh right' Sulley thought biting his lip, he had let time fly by him without realizing Randall was left to his own devices, probably aggravated from all the waiting by now. He got up from his seat and approached his mother "Mom, please don't refer to him as 'mommy' or 'mother', I don't think he would like it.." Sulley asked, He had never called him such a thing before, but had a feeling it would be one of his hot buttons to be referred to as the female parent, giving him any parental title seemed to displease him enough already. "Actually he doesn't know I told you yet, so could you not mention anything for now" "He's awfully sensitive huh?" She looked disappointed "Alright, I will hold back, but you know I am horrible at keeping these things to myself" She warned with a little wink before the three of them walked out of the kitchen towards the living room.

In the living room Randall sat up straight despite the discomfort it caused, twitling his thumbs as the minutes passed. Occasionally he leaned ahead to see if anyone was in view or at least coming, needless to say he was awfully bored. He took his glass of wine and swirled it around his cup, reminding himself that he couldn't enjoy even a bit of alcoholic pleasure, so much was off limits to him now.

When no sound was heard from the other room Randall took it upon himself to entertain, he stood up from his place and began admiring the house and all its contents, whirling the red liquid in the clear glass as he did so. He walked to the shelf above the fireplace. He looked at the photos that were shown off, one from their wedding, another of Sulley as a cub, and some other furry monsters he assumed were extended families. He noticed that they were all Alphas, It must have been a strong genetic trait in their family, he wondered vaguely if his own kid would be an alpha. As much as he hated the hierarchy he would prefer an Alpha over the hell of being an Omega.

Randall came across a potted plant; the flower was a deep blue with blood red thorns, he looked at his glass of wine that still had to be done with, he tipped the cup over, pouring the liquid into the plant. He didn't know why he couldn't just refuse to drink it, insulting the old man's taste in beverages. But for some reason he was he trying to make a good impression, without understanding why, he hated the Sullivan's after all.

The lights began to flicker and Randall causally looked over to the clock in the room, its hands had stopped at 6:58, had they really been here an hour already? Randall wondered how much of that time he had spent alone waiting…not that he cared if they ever came back. He walked back to the couches with his now emptied glass, placing it in front of where he was sitting earlier. His tail twitched as he heard footsteps approach, the power outage must have reminded them not to be rude and abandon their guest for reasons of gossip.

He wondered what they had to say about him, no doubt concern over his hierarchal standing, He wondered if Sulley had stood up for him or not. Admittedly he liked entertaining the idea that the blue fluff ball had complimented and supported him, but he wouldn't let himself romanticize Sullivan, he was still a dumb, pampered lug of a monster.

When the three Sullivan's walked in Randall had made it back to his seat, his expression was dull and blank, almost looking annoyed too. He was sure they saw it before forcing a horribly awkward looking smile, showing off his pointy teeth.

James walked forward about to take his seat beside Randall before his mother interceded and stole the spot from him, cupping a pair of Randall's hands and smiling wide. Randall was taken back a bit by the closeness, internally screaming for it to stop but put up with it anyway. "Sulley you can sit by your father, I want to get to know your friend" She gestured to her floral patterned chair. "ohh..Okay" Sulley said, double taking before walking to the other side of the coffee table where he sat, watching his mother embarrassingly bond.

Bill leaned over the table, taking the empty wine glass in his hand, confused as he looked at it. "Randall son, did you drink this?" He questioned with a raised brow.

Randall looked up to him, wondering why he had asked "Yes, it was great thanks" he said, receiving a growl from the other as he stood up "How could you be so irresponsible!" Molly's grip was also tightening, which caused Randall to tug his hands away "Wha-"

"I am severely disappointed James" He looked over to Sulley who rubbed his brows at his father's outburst; he knew Randall wouldn't have drunk it, even if he said he did. "This is why you should marry before you make a commitment to have children; you get to know the monster better!"

That was when Randall realized they had been told, he couldn't really be mad, as that's the reason they were here, but it did catch him off guard that they were informed so soon in the visit. "Wait this is just a misunderstanding" Randall said, but was ignored by Bill; though Molly's hard, angry expression seemed to soften, as she was still willing to listen.

Bill was barking non-sense at his son, something about the importance of traditional marriage, and how he had never even met Randall until today, he considered his son very disrespectful for not letting his family in sooner. Randall stood up from his place and spoke louder, almost yelling "I lied; I just dumped it in a plant pot, I didn't want you to think of me as ungrateful for the beverage."

Bill was a little taken back by the outburst; couldn't he see Alpha's were talking? He didn't consider himself a bigoted man, but Omega's interrupting was just not something you saw often in this society. Needless to say Bill was impressed.

"That wine was expensive, and defiantly going to kill my plant.." he said as a passing statement "But, at least my grandson is in good health" He nodded to Randall who took a seat, looking a little embarrassed as Sullivan's parents brought up the child he'd rather forget about.

"You gave us quite a scare there, Randall" Molly said, turning her sweet switch on, she seemed to have a PNK mentality, which made Randall uneasy as he waited for a sudden mood change much like Carrie and the other girls did.

Sulley took this chance to also talk, but only after his mother was done speaking. "Well, he is a top scarer at work" He said with a chuckle.

Molly's ears perked "ohh, impressive, another scarer in the family" Randall gave an awkward smile, he wasn't in the family though..

Bill also looked impressed as he inspected Randall, the dull purple, sharp teeth, and unkind exterior made him look like a scarer alright, but not like the usual faces he would see on a scare floor. "That's surprising Randall" He said, not meaning to be rude "How did you get there" Bill questioned, leaning back in his chair

"I worked hard, graduated Monsters University with top grades in my class" He explained "Actually I was in freshman year with your son" Randall had no problem with digging up regrets of Sulley's past, or gloating about his own superiority.

"HE was able to graduate" Bill gave Sulley a look, which Sulley reacted with a bashful smile. An omega managed something even his son failed at.

"So you boys have some unrequited love in collage?" Molly asked, romanticizing their relationship as she tended to do.

"Ohh, no, not at all" Randall said, reacting almost too quickly with a humored laugh, as if the idea was completely moronic.

"We bumped heads quite a bit actually" Sulley said, he hadn't felt anything for Randall during their collage days, the other just blended into the background, he hardly made a blink on his radar. Who knew they would have come so fat?

"More than he knows" Randall said, referring to the scare games simulator of course. He had spent most his college years hating Sullivan, and glad to see he was expelled; only to be severely disappointed when they ended up working side by side in the future anyway.

"How did you two…come to decide this" Molly said gently, a little confused at Randall's motivations for breeding, as Sulley stated before Randall was not interested in her son, yet was willing to carry a child to term.

"It wasn't much of a decision" He said, with some regret. Molly looked surprised "Really James, I thought we taught you better then unprotected sex" She looked disappointed.

Sulley blushed red, how was this night turning against him? "It's complicated mom, I didn't have any on hand.." He said, not that he would have been in the right mind frame to use them, after all the whole purpose was to reproduce.

The generator began to hum again as the lights turned back on, a beep was heard around the house as the oven, and other objects came too. Molly stood from her spot, needing to finish the last few minutes of cooking before they could eat "Have you no self-restraint dear? Men, honestly" She said to herself as she walked out, not having a female present who she could relate to, not that she needed one.

Sulley took this as an opportunity to return to his spot on the couch beside Randall, only sitting far closer now as he felt the visit was going well, and Randall was being quite accommodating. But his kindness could only go so far, as soon as Sulley sat Randall scooted away from him and hissed, noticing Sullivan was getting more cozy with him "Don't push your luck Sull" He said quietly so Bill could not hear the words, but defiantly noticed the angry tone.

"Quite a predicament you boys are in" Bill said "But don't worry Randall, were a close family. Molly and I will be around to help out"

"Ohh..Thanks" Randall said looking down, a little embarrassed by the kindness. "Will your parents be aiding you as well?" He asked. Randall eyes looked up, but his head was still tilted towards the ground. "Unlikely" All eyes seemed to be on him, curiously waiting for an explanation, even Sullivan, the father of his child, was completely clueless about his family life. "I've not seen my father for years..and moms not well" Randall said, giving as little details as he could.

"Not well? Is she sick?" Sulley asked. Bill gave his son a look, one that said 'you don't even know his family situation yet?' Honestly Sulley was too busy with other things to bring it up, and Randall never seemed in the mood for personal conversations.

"She's in a ward, unresponsive" He said entirely to calm, without a hint of emotion.

Sulley gave a big frown "Listen, I'm sorry I probably shouldn't have a-"

"It's fine Sullivan, we weren't close" He said with a stale expression "My brother lives a few cities over, he got married a few years back and we drifted since" Randall explained "So it's just me"

"Well Randall there is no need to fret, I'm sure our family will do, it's large after all" Bill said with a small smile curved at the side of his lips.

"Ohh boys, dinner is ready" They heard Molly shout "I hope I didn't miss anything important" She teased, poking her head into the living room, making sure the boys were moving. Sullivan was first on his feet, beginning to walk out with Randall walking beside him, eventually slinking ahead beside Molly.

They all sat around the table that was nicely set up by Molly, Bill sat at the head of the table while Molly sat beside him, also next to Randall, and James sat across from his mother and beside his dad. He didn't care for the arrangements, but Molly was determined to sit next to Randall, so he let her. As they ate things were a lot quieter, besides Molly who was asking questions left and right, Bill often had to remind her to eat and to let Randall eat as he was far too busy answering her to get a fork full up to his mouth.

"so…you boys won't be getting married I take it?" She asked with a brow raised

"No" Randall said, taking a bite of chicken in his mouth.

"What would you call this kind of partnership.." She looked to anyone at the table; Randall thought calling it 'a mistake' was accurate enough.

Sulley piped in when no one else did "Just two friends.." Randall's eyes closed slightly in a glare "Two..co-workers raising a kid" Sulley finished "It's not that rare.." Sulley lied, knowing it was.

"I guess two supportive parents is better than one" she smiled sweetly "Kids are a handful, but I guess Randall won't have that problem" She closed her eyes, giggling at her own joke about Randall's four arms.

Randall sighed quietly, he was feeling rather tired by this whole night, he didn't expect so many questions. Sulley stared from across the table, his bites much smaller than they usually were as he enjoyed their time together as family. He noticed Randall's eyes droop, and could tell he was getting agitated; Sulley would take him home once their plates were empty.

"How far along are you now, dear?" Molly asked before taking a bite and chewing quickly, encase she needed to speak again soon. "umm.." Randall had to think about that as he had been ignoring it for so long "about three months.." He breathed heavy as he said that out loud, had it really been so long?

"Ohh, you'll be starting second trimester soon" She mused. She didn't notice the panic that was setting into Randall as his arms began to shake. And James was too far to really comfort without making a scene.

Quickly he put the last bite in his mouth then stood up "Finished mom" He interrupted her as she was about to ramble on about what to expect from your fourth month, which was the last thing Randall needed to hear.

He swallowed his mouth full and walked around the table to her, putting his paws on her shoulders then kissing her cheek. "It was a great meal, but we have to be heading back now, I told Mike I'd call.." She looked to her son confused, feeling rushed. Randall's plate had some scraps left, but he didn't look like he was going to finish it.

"You ready to go Randall?" He asked, calmer and careful.

Randall just nodded and stood up on shaky feet. Bill had noticed the shaking a bit and decided to help his son out, he and his wife had much to discuss about this new family member anyway. "I'll call a cab for the two of you" Molly looked like she wanted to interject, but didn't, her cheeks simply puffed out as she stood up

"You boys will miss dessert… I managed to throw a pie into the oven" She said; as a last failed attempt to keep them longer.

"I'm sorry mom, I'd really like to get Randall home. Do you think we could take a container to go?" He asked with a puppy like expression, She rolled her eyes playfully with a smile "Alright dear, I'll package a slice up for you both" She turned away and began preparations.

Sulley heard Randall's rapid breathing and lead him out of the room to the hall where he ran his paws down the others arms "Hey, are you going to be alright?" He asked quietly.

"I don't think I can do this" Randall said looking torn up and frightened. "This is too much" He seemed to be having a small panic attack as his breathing was heavy and both sets of arms hugged himself tightly. Sulley unbuttoned the top of Randall's collared shirt, hoping it would help him breathe a bit better.

"You'll be alright Randall, You're not alone, remember?" Randall nodded, but didn't say anything, Sulley wondered if he had heard, or if he was just giving a generic gesture to make it seem like he was listening. Sulley wrapped his arms around the other cautiously, not expecting any good to come of it, but perhaps a little contact was all Randall needed.

Randall didn't make a move to push Sulley away; he closed his eyes and leaned against Sullivan's chest, hands stiff, locked around himself as he tried to slow his breathing. The musk that came off Sullivan was surprisingly calming, making him feel safe and at ease as he breathed. He knew it was just his body reacting to his-the Alpha's scent, but right now he just wanted to take advantage of any positives that could come from all this.

"You guys alright?" Bill asked, peeking into the hallway, seeing the embrace as Sulley looked over his shoulder to smile at his father "Everything is fine dad"

"The cab will be here for you guys soon, come say your goodbyes before you go" He said leaving the couple alone again, eager to give them privacy.

Sulley hugged him a little tighter, taking advantage of the moment as he rested his chin on the top or Randall's head, brushing back his fonds. "You're strong Randall" He said "Strongest Omega I know, you're going to do fine" He held the other for another minute before Sulley pushed Randall back, looking into the others green eyes "You feeling better now?" He asked, brushing his paw along Randall's cheek which didn't please the other. Randall backed up out of his grasp and straightened his shirt, doing up the button Sulley undid earlier. "Fine"

Sulley smiled at the purple lizard, who was hiding behind his walls again, but he knew they were breaking down, he could see it a little more each day. He had to be patient, he wouldn't let Randall's negativity upset him. "Let's go say bye then"

Randall opened up the door to their apartment with a deep and happy breath, it still smelt like baked goods and the apartment was much warmer than the outside, which was getting an October chill.

Randall undid the buttons on his shirt; stomach uncovered as he took the tight clothing off and put it over his shoulder. He walked into the kitchen, following the sugary sweet scent of baked goods, he took the tin Sulley had packaged for him earlier, then walked by the door where Sulley was loosening his tie "Sure you don't want some pie first?" He offered as the other walked passed without a single glance to Sulley he simply replied "No" With that Randall shut his bedroom door.

Sulley smirked in the direction Randall had disappeared too, despite some setbacks the night went pretty well, he thought. Now he could unwind and tell Mike he told him so. He dialed Mike's number into his phone, taking a seat in his lone chair that faced a black TV screen. He heard the phone ring, once, twice until Mike picked up "Hey Sull, I presume you are here to tell me what a horrible Idea the whole thing was?" Sulley could hear the egotism in his voice, He hadn't even had a chance to talk and already Mike was patting himself on the back. "Actually Mike, it went well" He said leaning back into his seat, waiting for Mike's surprised gasp, or doubtful smugness. "I think my parents really like him"

"Wow, that's a first. So they would be..the only two other monsters not completely repulsed by the guy?"

"Mike that's hardly fair" Sulley said with an annoyed pout "I know I know, it's hard not to take shots at him" He laughed a bit "Now tell me everything that happened"

Sulley smiled, thinking back on their first steps in "Well, first w-"

"Sullivan!" Sulley stopped and turned when he heard Randall yell "You got fur all in my cupcakes!" He stormed out of his room, cupcakes in hand as he walked to the trash bin to dump them "I couldn't even give these things to Fungus" His tongue hung out as he picked a long strand of blue fur off it. "Disgusting" He said dumping the container over, his baked goods falling into the trash "I'm going to bed, don't bug me till morning" He grumbled, storming back to his room and shut the door once again.

Sulley turned back around, an unamused expression as he heard Mike laughing on the other end.
