AN: I am so sorry this took so long to write. I've just been extremely busy and it doesn't help that my Microsoft Office ran out on my laptop so I had to borrow one to write this. On a side note I just want to say that for anyone who remembers me saying I would be writing a second story I'm going to let people vote on a poll for the next story I will write. The choices will be written on my profile along with some challenges I'm issuing. Now then I don't own Naruto. If I did I probably wouldn't be talking about what I would do if I owned Naruto. On to the Story!
Chapter 12: The Second Exam Part 1: Enter the Forest of Death and Showdown with a Serpent
The Genin had all just gotten to Training Ground stood in front of a metal fence with signs that said "Keep out", "Enter at your own risk", "Forbidden to enter without express permission", and for some reason a sign that said "Snake Queens palace. Enter and die." Team 7 just sweatdropped at the sign thinking to themselves 'this is definitely Anko-Sensei's second home.'
"Okay you brats listen up!" Zabuza got all the genin's attention. "This place is known as the Forest of death. It's also where you'll be having your second exam." Zabuza said with an evil chuckle at the end causing many genin to turn white and shiver. "Let me explain the rules. Each team will get a scroll. There are two different scrolls. One is the heaven scroll and the other is the earth scroll. There is also a tower in the middle of the forest. You will all have to spend 5 days in the forest and trying to get another team's scroll. If your entire team does not make it to the tower in five days with both scrolls you will lose. Also the forest has its own deadly creatures. So you all have to worry about not only your fellow genin but the creatures of the forest. Isn't it exciting?" Zabuza asked with sadistic glee in his voice.
"What about food?" Choji asked. An Akimichi not getting food is sacrilege to the clan.
"Oh don't worry about that the forest has edible plants and creatures to hunt and kill for food. But the animals there will hunt for you as well." Zabuza told them.
"This'll be a piece of cake!" Kiba shouted what he didn't realize was that Zabuza disappeared and reappeared right next to him crouching down with his left arm putting Kiba in a headlock and his right arm pointing his sword to Kiba's neck.
"Listen kid I admire confidence but you're a bit too cocky. So I'm gonna tell you now if you keep up that attitude your blood is going to cover the forest floor. Got it?" He asked Kiba who nodded fearfully. Zabuza then let him go.
"Okay everyone here is what's gonna happen" Zabuza said addressing the genin "you and your team will sign these release forms so Konoha can't be held liable if you die in this exam" Zabuza told them while bringing out some stacks papers along with a few chunin doing the same.
A male mist Genin raised his hand "Um why do we have to risk our lives for a test?" the genin asked frightened from needing to risk his life for a promotion.
"Are you fucking kidding me?! Brat we're ninjas! We risk our lives all the time. Are you that much of a spineless wimp that you're afraid of risking your life when we kill for a living?! You should just go home and snuggle with your teddy bear you fucking pansy before I eviscerate you!" Zabuza shouted at the genin. They're ninjas for kami sake it just doesn't make sense! They kill for a living and their scared of risking their lives.
"How did you know about mister snuggles?" the genin asked confused causing everyone to sweatdrop including his teammates and the chunin supervisors. Zabuza however just got pissed.
"Let me at him! Let me at him! I just want to rip out his organs and strangle him with his intestines! Come on let me have a little fun!" Zabuza shouted trying to rush him with his sword only to be held back by a few chunin. While everyone's sweatdrops grew.
After ten minutes Zabuza calmed down and everyone went to get their release forms to fill out and then their scrolls. Hinata went to get the scroll and hid it quickly. She had gotten a heaven scroll which is a purple scroll with the kanji for heaven on it. They then went to their assigned entrance to await the start of the test. Zabuza then got a megaphone.
"Okay we'll be starting in ten, nine, eight, sev- okay to hell with this just get your asses in there!" he said and the gates opened. Everyone entered. When Team 7 entered they started hopping through trees.
"So what's the plan?" Sasuke asked
"Simple find a team, beat them down, and take the scroll." Naruto said simply causing his team to sweatdrop.
"Naruto-kun I think we need to plan a bit before doing that." Hinata said. "I think we should rest for the day and eat and then search for a scroll tomorrow." Hinata suggested and everyone nodded.
The team found a cave that they could rest in for shelter. It was right by a stream. Sasuke went to fish and Hinata went foraging for berries while Sakura went to gather firewood. Naruto was left to watch the cave.
"Kit we need to talk about something." Kurama called to him from the mindscape.
Naruto decided to enter his mindscape to speak with Kurama and Shukaku. When Naruto entered his mindscape he was greeted by Kurama and Shukaku playing Shogi on a giant board. Where it came from no one knows.
"Naruto we need to speak about something." Kurama said to him after his turn. Naruto nodded to him so he could continue. "Tou-san gave you access to his jutsu Library now I want you to practice it in here. I get the feeling that you will need some more power soon. I know it would be bad to train in the real world even with your amount of clones as it would take too long but in here time travels differently." Kurama explained. Now Naruto was interested.
"You see Naruto in the mindscape we can control how much time passes in here from the real world. We've made it so that one day in here is one minute in your world however even if years passed you would not age as it is all mental. So by practicing the techniques with your amount of Clones and the time advantage of the mindscape you would be able to master all the techniques." Shukaku explained.
"So what should I work on?" Naruto asked.
"I would suggest making 1000 Kage Bunshin (Shadow Clones). Have 100 work on Katon (Fire Style) exercises and jutsu 100 on Suiton (Water Style), 100 on Raiton (Lightning Style), 100 on Doton (Earth style), 100 on Futon (Wind Style), 100 on Inton (Yin Release), 100 on Yoton (Yang Release), 100 on controlling Shukaku's chakra, 100 on controlling my chakra, and the Last 100 to work on Chakra control." Kurama said
"How the hell am I gonna work on all that in this sewer?!" Naruto shouted
"Jeez calm down Naruto" Shukaku started while ending his turn "You can change your mindscape man. Just change it to a forest or something. Kami dammit you'll drive me insane if you shout." Shukaku said
Kurama just looked at Shukaku funny after taking his turn. "So if he shouts too much you'll go crazy on us?" Shukaku nodded "Naruto you will be taking lessons from Hinata on how to be calmer. I refuse to live with the psycho Shukaku." Kurama said
"What was that you overgrown furball!" Shukaku yelled pissed
"You heard me Sand for brains!" Kurama said
"You wanna go red eye!" Shukaku exclaimed
"Bring it beach face!" Kurama yelled at him butting heads with each other glaring and lightning coming from their eyes connecting
"Stop it!" Naruto yelled for them to stop arguing
"Okay" the tailed beasts said with their heads bowed at Narutoin apology
"Now what were you saying about changing my mindscape?" Naruto asked the two tailed beasts
"It's quite simple see Jinchuriki along with those of the Yamanaka clan have access to their mindscapes. The Yamanaka can change their minds into whatever they please. Jinchuriki can do the same. So you can change your mindscape into a forest." Kurama explained
"How do I do that? Naruto asked
"Just think it and use some chakra and it will change." Shukaku explained
Naruto nodded and did just that. His mindscape shifted into a lush green forest with large trees and a large lake. The seal turned into bracelets on the tailed beasts. Kurama had a black bracelet attached to his left arm while Shukaku had a blue bracelet on his left arm. Both had in white the kanji for seal on them.
Naruto then started getting to work creating 1000 clones while he worked on his Rinnegan powers. After 10 days in the mindscape he had learned many new techniques thanks to his clones.
For Katon jutsu (Fire Style Jutsu) he learned Katon: Kaen Hosha-ki no Jutsu (Fire style: Flamethrower Jutsu) which releases a long stream of fire at its target from the users mouth. Katon: Hononomuchi (Fire Style: Flame Whip) which out of the users mouth comes a long whip made of fire that is controlled by moving the users head in directions. Katon: Moeru Yoroi (Fire Style: Blazing Armor) which covers the user in flames that don't burn the user do to chakra layering underneath the flames. The fire increases attack power in both taijutsu and Katon Jutsu (Fire Style Jutsu) and can be shot of the user as a long range attack but uses fire from the armor that cannot be integrated back into the armor without the use of chakra. Katon: Hinotama Jigoku no Jutsu (Fire Style: Hell Fireball Jutsu) which creates a large blood red fireball from the mouth that rushes at high speeds towards its target. Katon: Endan (Fire Style: Flame Bullet) in which the user creates oil in their mouth and then alights it with fire and then spews a large blast of fire at the enemy. Katon: Hono no Ken (Fire Style: Flame Fist) which the user alights their hand with fire chakra and then attack with it. And Katon: HeruFaiashawa (Fire Style: Hellfire Shower) which releases a small blast of blood red fire into the air and then breaks apart into small fireballs that rain down on a targeted area.
For Suiton Jutsu (Water Style Jutsu) he learned Suiro no Jutsu (Water Prison Jutsu) which encase the target in a giant bubble of water as long as the user is near a body of water and keeps their arm submerged in the bubble. Suiton: Bakusui Shoha (Water Style: Exploding Water Shockwave) which the user spews water out of their mouth to create a small ocean for them to use the water for other jutsu. Suiton: Suiryudan no Jutsu (Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu) which creates a giant dragon made of water that rushes at the target. And Suiton: Zangeki no Nami (Water Style: Slashing Wave) which creates a crescent shaped blast of water that slices through anything in its path.
For Doton Jutsu (Earth Style Jutsu) Naruto learned Doton: Iwakuzure no Jutsu (Earth Style: Rockslide Justu) which the user stomps on the ground and sends a trail of rocks at its target and then sends a rock out of the ground to crash into the target. Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu (Earth Style: Headhunter Jutsu) in which the user hides underground and then drags his opponent underground until the only thing left above ground is their head. Doton: Dosekiryu (Earth Style: Earth Dragon) which creates a giant dragon out of rock that rushes at its target. Doton: Jishin no Jutsu (Earth Style: Earthquake Jutsu) which causes a targeted area to shake in order to throw enemies off balance. And Doton: Iwa no Tokimeki (Earth Style: Rock Crush) which causes a dome of rock to surround an area and then enclose on the area into a ball crushing all within the dome.
For Raiton Jutsu (Lightning Style Jutsu) Naruto learned Raiton: Kaminari Ransu (Lightning Style: Lightning Lance) which the users hand sparks with electricity and then forms into a large electric spearhead covering their hand and then rushes through its target. Raiton: Boruto o Mahi (Lightning Style: Paralyzing Bolt) which the user sends a small bolt of lightning from their hand that hits the target. It does not do damage but instead temporarily paralyzes the opponent by coursing through the target and hitting the nerves. Raiton: Kaminari Shirudo no Jutsu (Lightning Style: Thunder Shield Jutsu) which creates a wall of lightning that protects the user and those around them depending on how big it is made. Raiton: Shogeki Shotto (Lightning Style: Shock Shot) which creates a blast of lightning that launches from the users palm at the target. And Raiton: Hyaku Tenmetsu (Lightning Style: One hundred Flashes) which the user sends a bolt of lightning into the sky that then creates more lightning that rains down on an area.
For Futon Jutsu (Wind Style Jutsu) Naruto learned Futon: Kaze no Shoheki (Wind Style: Wind Barrier) which creates a shield of wind around the user and can be enlarged to protect multiple people. He also learned how to create Kunai and shuriken made out of wind.
For Inton (Yin Release) learned two techniques. Kurayami no Kabe (Wall of Darkness) which creates a wall made of surrounding shadows that protect the user and anyone around them that the user wants protected. And Kage no Yumi (Bow of Shadows) which makes a bow out of surrounding shadows that the user wields. With it the user shoots regular arrows, arrows made out of their chakra, or shadow arrows which are chakra arrows made of surrounding shadows. When shadow arrows are used they get a second shot if they miss but only the second shot they cannot be turned more than once.
For Yoton (Yang Release) Naruto learned two techniques. Hikari no Ono (Axe of Light) which the user creates and axe made of light that the user attacks with. And Seigi no Bakuhatsu (Explosion of Justice) which the user creates a ball of light in their hand then they throw it an area it then expands into a large blast wave of light that destroys all in its path.
Naruto's Chakra control increased to high chunin level and can Channel elemental Chakra through his sword and kunai and shuriken. Naruto can now control one tail of kurama's Chakra and one fourth of Shukaku's Chakra. As for Naruto's Fuinjutsu thanks to help from Kurama and Shukaku Naruto has basics down and has created now has a new seal that he made in the mindscape but has to create it in the real world. His Rinnegan powers also became stronger. His Deva path ability of controlling a targets field of gravity is a success but the most he could use it on is three humans. His Preta path now has the ability to create multiple barriers that are much smaller around his hands and feet so he can create a pseudo Juken that absorbs chakra from his opponents. His Asura path also has some new weapons and he can channel elemental chakra through his weapons. His other paths he could not work much on in the mindscape although he remembered that he still needed to talk to the bosses of the summoning contracts he signed.
Naruto bid Shukaku and Kurama farewell from the mindscape and exited. When he came to Sakura showed up 2 minutes later as did Sasuke and Hinata. Sasuke came with four large fish, Hinata came with two handfuls of berries, and Sakura had brought enough firewood to last through the night.
Sakura made the fire and then pulled out a frying pan that she had in her backpack and started to cook the fish with Hinata's help. While they were doing that Sasuke and Naruto were conversing on what they would do for tomorrow when they go for a scroll.
"So Sasuke which direction should we head in tomorrow?" Naruto asked
"The tower is in the middle of the forest and we started on the south side of the forest. I say we continue north so we can get near the tower. The closer we are to the tower the more likely we will find a team that has our scroll." Sasuke said.
"Sounds like a good plan." Naruto said
"Okay guys the food's done." Sakura called them to get the food done.
Naruto and Sasuke got their food as did Hinata and Sakura. They all sat down eating and relaxing. After a few hours of eating and talking Sakura went to clean the pan and Sasuke went for a perimeter search leaving Naruto and Hinata alone in a cave.
"Hinata-Chan I need to tell you something." Naruto said. He then explained what he learned in his mindscape and the new powers he gained.
He then took out from his backpack an ink brush and then pulled out his sword. He drew a seal on the blade and a different seal on the hilt of the sword. He also drew the same seal that was on the blade on the scabbard. The seal on the hilt is a chakra connection seal. When you channel chakra to this seal it will channel into the seal on the blade. The seal on the blade is a particular seal it increases the length of the blade by channeling chakra to it and the chakra becomes metal that increases the blade in length. The more chakra added the longer the blade becomes. However this seal has a function that you can absorb the chakra back into the wielder but the length will diminish and go back to its original length. The seal on the scabbard is the same function as the one on the blade but it just increases the length of the hilt if the sword becomes to long for the new length if it is kept at an increased length.
After he finished that Naruto and Hinata looked outside and saw it was night. The stars were out and the moon was full. The entire forest was illuminated in the moonlight.
"The moon looks so pretty tonight." Hinata said next to Naruto.
"Not as pretty as you." Naruto said looking at her. Hinata blushed lightly.
"Oh Naruto-Kun you flatter me." Hinata said to the boy
"I was being serious Hinata-Chan your beauty soars higher than the stars and shines brighter than both the sun and the moon." Naruto told her. Hinata's blush darkened but she never lost her smile.
Hinata and Naruto both looked into each other's eyes seeing how much love each other's eyes held. They brought their faces together and their lips met in a soft passionate kiss. After they separated from the kiss Hinata rested her head on Naruto's shoulder.
"I love you Hinata-Chan" Naruto told her with a smile
"And I love you Naruto-kun" Hinata told him with a blissful expression
They then just sat their staring up at the moonlit sky thinking to themselves. 'I will protect you even if it costs me my life. That is how much I love you.' Both were thinking the exact same thought.
What the couple didn't realize was that Sasuke and Sakura had witnessed the kiss from afar after they returned. Sakura had stars in her eyes thinking it was really romantic while Sasuke had a small smile on his face witnessing the sweet moment however his eyes also went towards Sakura while she wasnt looking. They both went back to the cave and then they all went to sleep.
Naruto and Hinata slept embraced with each other while Sasuke and Sakura slept by the fire. However in the middle of the night the fire went out and Sakura embraced the closest thing for warmth. This happened to be Sasuke who didn't notice still asleep.
In the morning Naruto and Hinata woke up. When they stood up they saw Sasuke and Sakura cuddling. Hinata giggled and Naruto chuckled but Naruto had taken pictures with a camera for blackmail material. Where the camera came from no one knows.
When Sasuke woke up he saw the position he was in and blushed. He tried to get up but Sakura had a serious grip on him. Sakura soon came to and saw the position she was in.
"Oh I'm having that dream again." Sakura said and then snuggled into Sasuke more. His blush increased twofold.
"Um Sakura this isn't a dream." Sasuke told her. She then had her eyes wide and then let go of Sasuke. Both of them were looking away blushing and both were thinking 'this cannot possibly be any more embarrassing.' They then heard Naruto and Hinata laughing and turned towards them.
"Okay lovebirds let's get up and head towards the tower. We need the Earth scroll." Naruto told them suppressing a coming laugh. The two's blush increased.
After a few minutes the team was ready and headed towards the tower. However something happened. As they were hopping through trees they heard a crash and saw a falling tree and heard a wind blowing. Naruto recognized what was happening. Someone was using Futon Daitoppa (Wind Style: Great Breakthrough) but with enough power to destroy trees and the winds were headed towards them.
Naruto spun while jumping and threw his hands outwards towards the oncoming wind. "Kurayami no Kabe(Wall of Darkness)!" Naruto shouted. Out of the shadows surrounding the trees came a pitch black wall surrounding and protecting the team much to the shock of Sasuke and Sakura but explanations could wait. The destructive wind hit the black wall and then dispersed. Naruto released the jutsu after the wind died.
"Kukuku. Splendid. I had no idea you could block my Futon Daitoppa (Wind Style: Great Breakthrough). I must admit I'm a little impressed. But despite your success you will fall by my hand in battle." A female voice said coming closer to the genin team of 4 while releasing a lot of killing intent. Like enough killing intent to make Zabuza's seem like a rat compared to a tiger.
The figure appeared before them. She wore grey garbs with a black long-sleeved shirt under them and black pants. She had on black pants and a large purple rope that tied into a bow in the back. She had long black hair and somewhat pale skin.
"W-who are you?" Sakura asked shakily while bringing her hand towards her ninja tool pouch. Everyone else was doing the same thing.
"I do not need to tell you such things. I am here for one reason and one reason only." The woman said. The team then voiced what they thought the woman would do
"You're here for the scroll." Sasuke
"You're here to steal my Ramen." Naruto
"You're here to talk with us calmly?" Hinata said hopefully
"You're here to ask me for beauty tips." Sakura said
"Okay in order No, No, No, and Fuck you." The woman said. "I'm here for Sasuke-Kun." She told them
"Get in line with the other fangirls." Naruto and Hinata deadpanned
"I didn't mean it like that! Okay you know what to hell with this!" She said and shot a blast of fire out of her mouth at the team. Naruto stepped in front of the attack Rinnegan activated and absorbed it. When the fire cleared he quickly shut off the Rinnegan.
'That was just like Yoroi's powers on a larger scale how did this brat do that?!' She thought and then jumped to her right to avoid a Juken strike from Hinata. The woman was then hit by a right kick from Naruto who had used Hinata's attack as a distraction. The woman was sent flying through three trees.
The woman then rolled up her left sleeve and there was a tattoo on her left arm. She bit her right thumb so there was blood and then wiped it across the tattoo. She then went through hand seals. Boar-Dog-Bird-Monkey-Ram and slammed her palm on the ground. "Kuchiyose no Jutsu (Summoning Jutsu)!" She shouted and a large puff of smoke appeared. It cleared to reveal a giant brown Snake the size of a tree.
The snake lunged at Naruto who jumped above it but the attack was a feint. Its real target was Sasuke and Sakura. Naruto spun in midair drawing his sword and bounced off a tree branch and luged at the snake. Naruto used the momentum of the jump to slowly overtake the snake in terms of speed. As Naruto was just above the head of the snake he channeled chakra into the seal on the hilt of his sword. The swords blade enlarged from its original 43 inches to a ridiculous 120 inches or ten feet. A ten foot long Katana. Naruto swung the sword at the Snake and it decapitated the snake. The head fell through the trees and crashed down into the forest.
"Damn it!" The woman yelled but was also curious about the blond before her.
Team 7 looked at the woman suspiciously. They only knew of one Snake summoner and that was Anko.
The woman appeared at blinding speed and took out Sakura with a kick to her midsection sending her into a tree. The woman then looked at Sasuke licking her lips at the startled and shaking boywith a freakishly long tongue.
Sasuke still terrified pulled out 2 kunai ready to defend himself. The woman just punched him in the face and sent him crashing into you guessed it a tree. The woman was about to make her way towards Sasuke when Naruto appeared behind her his sword at its normal length trying to use a downward slash on her. The woman however pulled out a sword of her own and blocked the slash. The woman then pushed Naruto's blade to the side with her own and then kicked him away. Naruto used the kick to gain momentum for a backflip. Naruto then rushed back and sent a flurry of slices and slashes that were all blocked by the woman. The woman then did a spin so she would have momentum to slash through Naruto however Naruto leaped over the attack and kneed the woman in the face. The woman was sent flying backwards and hit again a tree. Then she was hit by a few juken strikes by Hinata disabling her for a short time. The woman was then wrapped up by Ninja wire courtesy of the newly awakened Sakura and was then hit by a few kunai through her arms and legs by Sasuke who was now out of his imprint in the tree.
"Naruto end it now!" Sakura shouted. Naruto nodded and quickly went through hand seals
Horse-Dragon-Tiger-Snake-Monkey-Dragon-Tiger. "Katon: Kaen Hosha-Ki no Jutsu (Fire Style: Flamethrower Jutsu)!" Naruto blew out a stream of fire at the woman. The fire connected and hit the woman. The metal of the wire and the kunais superheated causing even more pain to her. The fire roared and soon the entire bark of the tree was covered in flames much to the shock of the rest of team 7 who were wondering how much more powerful Naruto is. However they were cut from their thoughts by a something flying out of the flames. What happened was the woman they were fighting apparently stretched her neck inhumanly and then her head shot towards Sasuke. She bit Sasuke's neck despite the fact that her face looked to be melting.
After she removed her head from Sasue she ripped off her face with her hand revealing herself to be a man. He had really pale skin almost a sickly bluish grey color, golden eyes with slits for pupils, and purple markings around his eyes.
"W-What are you?" Sasuke asked breathing hard and grabbing his neck where he was bitten. On Sasuke's neck formed an odd mark that looked like three black tomoe.
"Kukuku. Anko-Chan didn't tell you all about me? Shame on her. I am her old beloved Sensei Orochimaru the Hebi (Snake) Sannin. And I decided to give you a gift. In time you will come to me for power Sasuke-Kun." The now named Orochimaru explained to Sasuke. The genin all gulped when hearing that he is Anko's old and villainous Sensei.
"In time you will come for power Sasuke-kun. And as for you Uzumaki Naruto you intrigue me I shall be keeping an eye on you. Until then I bid you all farewell." Orochimaru said and then jumped through the trees to leave. Naruto was about to chase after him but was stopped when Hinata pointed to the downed Sasuke. They picked him up and carried him back to the cave while Sakura followed behind them. They needed to help Sasuke first and foremost.
With Orochimaru
Orochimaru was leaping through the trees when he was hit by a tan and purple blur and thrown into yet another tree. 'Seriously how many trees am I going to hit today?!' he thought annoyed. However he was cut from his thoughts by recognizing the blur. It was Anko and behind her was Zabuza. And the look on Anko's face told Orochimaru she was pissed.
"So I guess my old Sensei decided to waltz into my palace and attack my genin. That in itself has made me angry but there is something worse you've caused." Anko told him while Zabuza looked battle ready.
What would that be Anko-Chan." Orochimaru asked a little fearful.
Anko looked at him with pure hate and said "You have made me miss my Dango Date with Kakashi-Kun and for that I will eviscerate you!" She said and sent snakes fire and Kunai at Orochimaru who kept dodging that along with attacks by Zabuza repeatedly until he left the forest of death as quickly as he could. He even ran through Konoha so quick people thought someone had mastered the Hiraishin (Flying Thunder God Technique) and they didn't even see who did it.
Back to Team 7
Sasuke was laid down on the ground and Sakura had placed a wet towel on his head since his temperature rose. Naruto was meditating to learn some new abilities and Hinata was keeping watch with her Byakugan activated. What none of them realized was that the team of Oto (Sound) genin just happened to be in Hinata's blind spot. They were watching. Waiting. Preparing to strike. For their mission was simple. Kill Uchiha Sasuke. And they would see it through. As their leader told them to.
