Chapter 13
Ray paused just outside the living room, he looked back at me with worry dancing in his eyes.
"Kai?" He started.
"Hm?" I answer him.
He sighs. "I don't want everyone knowing that I'm gay just yet, I'm not ready for that."
I stare gently at him. "Tala knows." I admit.
"I figured, he hasn't stopped sending me mixed looks since our argument." Ray chuckled softly.
"I don't think Tyson and Max know; at least they haven't been told directly, but they aren't stupid." I point out to him.
He shakes his head slightly. "I know, it's my old team I'm mainly worried about."
I cross my arms and lean on my hip. "You know Lee confronted me this morning?"
Ray's pupils turned to slits. "What did he say?"
"Just that if any harm came to you, he'd personally castrate me…" I smirk a little.
He laughed. "That's Lee alright, always being over protective. He's like a big brother to me, always there for me whenever I need him." Ray's face darkens. "Yet I haven't even told him my biggest secret."
I rest my hand on his shoulder. "You should tell him sooner rather than later, he'd appreciate it."
Ray places his hand on mine, stroking me gently with his thumb. "Yeah… Although once I tell Lee, Mariah is going to find out."
My eye twitches a little, the pink furball wasn't going to be happy at all when she finds out.
"If they love you, they will accept you." I assured him.
He smiles at me. "Thank you, Kai. Come on, I'm starving."
Ray lets go of my hand and walks into the living room; I hesitate for a brief second then follow suit. We walked quietly past the other bladers who were watching TV and entered the kitchen. Ray set about making lunch, grabbing some pans and utensils; asking me on the odd occasion to pass him something.
"So, you two have kissed and made up then?"
Both me and Ray whip around to see Tala leaning against the doorframe, smirking a treat; he pushed himself off the frame and walked over to us.
"What's the verdict then?" The redhead asked.
Ray glances at me, then back at Tala. "Honestly, do you even need to ask that?" He smirks.
Tala's smirk widens to a grin. "I knew it!" He places a hand on each of our shoulders. "I'm so glad you guys worked it out, I was getting tired of Kai moping around."
"Tala…" I growl at my friend.
Ray giggled. "I must admit it's still hard to get my head around you sulking Kai."
"And whose fault is that?" I scowl at him.
The raven-haired teen looked at me with a glint in his eye. "Yours."
"Wha..."
Before I can argue back, Ray's lips were on my own, and I just melt into the kiss.
"Alright love birds break it up before someone sees." Tala pulled us apart, grinning from ear to ear.
I smirk at Ray, who winked back at me.
"I need to finish making lunch, Tyson will start to complain soon." He sighs.
"I'll help, Bryan is being a moody ass this afternoon." Tala offered.
I scoff. "Oh really? I thought after this morning you both would be chirpy as hell."
Ray turns on the oven. "Why what happened this morning?" He asked.
"Nothing." I glare at my fellow Russian.
"We heard Kai..."
I cover Tala's mouth before he can finish his sentence.
"If you wish to live, Valkov, you will keep your fucking mouth shut!" I threaten him.
Ray pulls me off him and glares at me. "Hey! First off that wasn't nice; second, what can be so bad that you can't tell me?"
After a few seconds of returning Ray's glare, I give up. "Whatever, but I'm not saying shit."
Tala smirks triumphantly, he leans to Ray's ear and whispers to him; as he explains the Neko tries his absolute best not to laugh.
I narrow my eyes dangerously at them both. "Laugh, and you both can run fifty laps."
Tala snaps his head up. "Hey! I'm not even on your team!" He argues.
"Tough, I live here, my rules." I sneer at him.
Ray finally managed to compose himself, clearly having struggled not to laugh.
"Claws away, ladies; we've got food to prepare." He smiled brightly.
After one last glare between us, myself and Tala went about helping the Tiger make lunch.
Once the food was ready, we set the table and the rest of the bladers gathered around to grab some lunch. Out of the corner of my eye I could feel several eyes burning on me and Ray, clearly seeing that we were talking again.
Tyson approached us. "Hey guys." He greeted us, smiling.
"Hey Ty." Ray smiled back.
"Hn." I grunted.
The Dragon laughed. "So, are you two friends again?" He asked.
Ray and I glanced at each other.
"You could say that." Ray replied.
Tyson smirked at us. "A bit cryptic, wouldn't you say Ray?"
The Neko's eyes widened. "What do you mean?"
I sigh. "He's not stupid Ray."
The navy-haired bladers smirk widened to a grin. "I'll take that as a compliment, Mr Sourpuss!"
"Just because I said you're not stupid, doesn't mean you're not a moron." I glare at him.
"Guys, keep it down please." Ray looked around nervously.
Tyson just laughed. "Don't worry, I won't say anything; but can we all talk later?"
"Sure Ty." Ray smiled gently at him.
I spotted Lee and Mariah heading over to us. "Incoming." I warn Ray.
"Cheers for the food dudes." Tyson thanked us and left with a huge plate of food.
I could see Ray was feeling rather nervous, and to be honest, so was I.
"Hey." Lee greeted us.
Mariah latched herself onto Ray's arm, and it took all my might not to throw her off and growl "mine" at her.
"Hey guys." Ray smiled brightly at them.
Lee eyed me suspiciously. "I'm guessing you two sorted everything out? What exactly happened?"
Ray chuckled. "Oh, it was over something really stupid. To be honest, I over reacted and we all know Kai is stubborn as hell."
I couldn't help but smirk at that comment.
"Oh Ray, I'm glad everything is okay now." Mariah smiled sweetly at him.
'Fucking pink-haired furball.' I thought to myself.
Lee still didn't seem entirely convinced. "Well, at least you guys are okay. It was getting a little awkward with all the tension in the air." He laughed.
Ray laughed too. "Yeah, let's enjoy our last full day together."
Mariah let go of Ray's arm and fanned herself with her hand. "It's really hot today!"
"It is, do we have anything planned today?" Lee asked.
Ray put his finger on his chin. "No not really, maybe we should arrange something?" He suggested.
As if by coincidence, Tyson's grandfather came into the Dojo with a few of the other adults; Max's mum and dad, Hiro, Mr. Dickenson and Tyson's dad.
"Yo my homies! We have a surprise for you!" Tyson's grandfather announced to us.
Everyone looked at them curiously.
Mr Dickenson cleared his throat. "Considering that the weather is so lovely, and it's your last day together, we decided that we're going to throw a party on the beach this evening. Tyson's grandfather has managed to get hold of a disco set, there will be music, food and beverages."
"Oh my god, yes!" Tyson fist pumped the air.
"This is going to be amazing!" Max clapped his hands together.
Bryan and Tala smirked at each other, whilst Kevin and Mariah jumped up and down in excitement; I felt a nudge in my side and I glance to see Ray winking at me.
"What?" I ask him.
"I hope you'll join in." He smiles.
I roll my eyes. "Fat chance of that."
He laughs. "Come on, let's get changed into something cooler."
"Like what?" I glare at him.
Ray just smirks and hurries upstairs; I sigh, shake my head and follow him.
"Ray, I'm NOT going out there dressed like this!" I growl.
Ray raises his eyebrow at me. "You look hot as fuck, you ARE wearing that."
I glare daggers at him as he looks me up and down, I swear he was undressing me with his eyes. Crossing my arms, I turn my head away from him and he laughs. I was wearing some shorts and a shirt that only came down to my midriff, exposing a lot of skin, more than I was comfortable showing. Ray, however, was just wearing some shorts, leaving his torso bare.
"Think of it this way, you'll definitely get a tan." He comments.
I whip my head around. "I don't tan." I sneer.
"KAI! RAY! Stop putting on your make up and hurry up!" Tyson screams up the stairs.
Ray grins toothily. "Well, you don't have time to change now!"
If I could glare any harder my face might implode on itself, but the Raven-haired teen didn't seem phased by it whatsoever. He opens the door and holds it open, beckoning for me to go first; I walk past, and I don't take my eyes away from his until I'm through the door way. As I reach the bottom of the stairs, all the chatter dies away and I suddenly see all eyes on me, a few jaws dropping open.
I put on my best death glare. "What?"
"Oh, my, god!" An annoyingly familiar voice sounds.
I look to my left and see Hilary all but drooling, with a very jealous looking Tyson behind her going red in the face.
"Alright, shock over. Let's get going?" Ray raised his voice behind me.
Everyone seemed to shake some sense into themselves, and one by one they started to file out of the house. I glanced behind me and saw Ray holding a scowl on his face, clearly directed at the back of Hilary's head; I smirked and brushed my hand to his, grabbing his attention.
"Jealous?" I mouth to him.
He grins wickedly. "Of course." He mouths back.
My smirk widens slightly; we follow the rest of the teens and the adults outside, joining with Tala and Bryan as we walk to the beach.
"Damn Kai, you're brave." Tala comments.
I look at him, he's wearing three-quarter length shorts and a regular t-shirt, and from the glistening of his skin he'd gone overboard on the sun cream.
"I didn't exactly have a choice in the matter." I growl.
The redhead laughs. "I didn't realise you were so easily influenced."
Ray sniggers beside me, earning a light punch from me. "Can it, Ray."
"Hey! You didn't have to put it on." He defends himself.
Bryan sighs. "Christ, it's like they're married already..." He mumbles loud enough for the four of us to hear.
I stiffen a little. "Tala..."
The Wolf scratched the back of his head. "C'mon, did you guys really expect me to not say anything to Bryan?"
"Blabbermouth..." Ray grumbles under his breath.
As we approached the beach, I spotted a gazebo with a table full of food and drinks; next to that was a disco set with large speakers. Tyson's grandfather stepped up to the disco set and switched it all on, then set about choosing some music.
"Little dudes, are ya ready to party?!" He shouted into the microphone.
Pretty much everyone cheered loudly, and I mentally face-palmed.
'What exactly have I got myself into?' I thought to myself.
The music kicked up and the younger bladers immediately rushed to the shallow water, utilising it to keep them cool as they danced away.
Beside me, Ray chuckled. "I'm surprised Tyson didn't go straight for the food."
"It's the start of the Apocalypse then." I commented dryly.
Tala and Ray doubled over laughing, I cocked an eyebrow at the pair.
"You're so funny sometimes Kai." Tala wiped a tear from his eye.
Bryan cleared his throat. "Let's go get a drink, shall we?"
Our redheaded companion pulled a small bottle of vodka out of his pocket, grinning wickedly. I smirked, of course these two would spike their own drinks.
"You having some Kai?" Bryan asked me.
I shook my head firmly, the thought of drinking alcohol so soon after the other night made my stomach churn. The falcon led the way, mumbling something along the lines of "lightweight", earning a glare to the back of his head from me.
"Ignore him, I couldn't drink anywhere near as much as you." Ray nudged me, smiling.
I rolled my eyes, grabbing a coke as soon as we reached the table; Tala and Bryan poured a generous amount of vodka into their drinks, before challenging each other on who can drink theirs the fastest.
Bryan won by a fraction of a second. "Ha." He taunted.
Tala just shrugged and made them both another drink.
"Hey Ray! Come join us!" Kevin called from the mass of dancing bodies.
Ray grinned. "Yeah, one sec!" He looked to me. "Coming?"
I widened my eyes slightly. "No." I answer firmly.
He looked a little disappointed. "Damn. Well, see you in a bit then?"
I nod to him, he turns away and jogs over to his friends; they laugh together and start to dance to the next song. Sighing, I sit down at the edge of the gazebo, enjoying the shade it was providing.
"We're going to join them." Tala prodded me.
I looked up, both Tala and Bryan had taken off their shirts and seemed eager to join in.
I smirked. "You know, a year ago you two wouldn't have even dreamed of doing this sort of thing."
Bryan chuckled. "Yeah, and a year ago we would never have dreamed that you would turn out to be gay." He winked at me.
"Touché." I turned away from them.
Tala led Bryan to the other bladers, high-fiving Tyson and Max before they joined in. I pulled one knee up and laid my arm over it, my eyes not leaving Ray's position; Mariah was practically all over him and I could feel a growl rising in my throat. I took a sip from my drink, inwardly having a mental battle with myself about not doing something I might regret.
A/N: Well there we go! /span/p
