Chapter 13
With the stone gone there were no more dangers lurking around. James and Lily both congratulated Hermione for not trusting Quirrell. Hermione was glad that her gut feeling was correct. Of course that didn't change the fact that both she and Melissa were both werewolves and it was all Harry Potter's damn fault. They both had to get tagged by the Ministry, which Harry thought was funny.
"When summer comes, don't even talk to me," Hermione said, her temper flaring. "I don't want to see you, talk to you, or even think about you. What you did to us was wrong and it's only because of whom your parents are that you're not rotting in Azkaban."
"Oh trust me, Granger, I won't talk to you," he said.
"Come on," Maria said, shaking her head, "He's just being a jerk."
Hermione allowed herself to be pulled away and then, when Harry was way out of earshot, and sight, did she asked, "So how was Christmas. I wasn't able to come because I had the flu."
"It was great, until Harry decided to get bitten," Hermione told her.
"I heard about that," she said. "Dad wasn't thrilled that something like that happened. He's mad that Harry intentionally bit you both."
"I don't care, I don't have to go home," Melissa told them.
"You'll care, when you change and can't get a job," she said.
"How come werewolves can't get work?" Melissa asked her.
"Because their considered part human," Maria answered. "Only human wizards and witches can work at the Ministry."
"Well I'm not about to throw in the towel," she said. "There's always a nitch market out there. One just has to look for it."
"And where did you learn that from?" Hermione asked her.
"Dad," she answered.
"Well it has to be something that will benefit werewolves," Maria said.
"How about we try and get mum to pass a law," Hermione suggested.
"Like what kind of law?" Maria asked.
"Well we all know that werewolves joined up with Voldemort because he told them that he would make their lives better," Hermione said to them. "Well since I'm a werewolf, even though I didn't ask for it, then I could be denied a job. Lily can use my fame to get a law passed that would allow werewolves to have a chance to get a job and provide for their families. She can remind them that if it hadn't been for me then Voldemort would still be killing people. A little bit of crow eating is always good for the soul."
"Sounds perfect," Maria said.
"I knew that you would agree," Hermione told her. "Now I need to talk to Lily about it when summer comes around."
February started and with it more practice. Hermione and Melissa had both recovered from their attack and didn't look as though anything bad had happened to them. The whole calendar was all screwed up due to the fact that there had been a blue moon at the end of the month. Hermione and Melissa and both changed for the first time and Hermione held her friend as she cried.
"It's only once a month," she told her.
"I know, but it hurt so much," she said.
Hermione nodded in understanding.
They were given a couple of days to recover and then they were back in the classroom. The other ravens gave them odd looks when they came back looking as though death had warmed over them. The other staff was worried about them, including Severus.
"How are you feeling?" he asked them.
"Like hell," Hermione answered.
"I'm going to work on something that will gain your strength back," he said. "That should make recovering easier."
"Thanks," Hermione said and then she told him of her plan.
"That sounds like your making them eat crow," he said, then he grinned, "I like the idea of seeing Fudge being force to have werewolves work at the Ministry. I might not like them but I agree that them not having work or any form of rights brings them right back to the Dark Lord. If he does come back he needs to be deprived of some of his old net of followers."
"I agree," Melissa said.
"Double agree," Hermione said, nodding.
Hermione and Melissa were soon training for the match that was coming up. Thankfully the next Full Moon would take place a week after the match, so she didn't have to worry about not being able to play. She worked to catch up on all the homework that she had been given and then Melissa told her that Remus was going to give her a tour of the house that she would be staying in when term ended.
"Did anyone tell your dumb parents that you won't be able to come back?" Hermione asked her.
"Yeah, someone from the Ministry went and told them," Melissa said. "My mum is very glad that I won't be around to darken her house."
"Remind me to send them a hex," Hermione said, hating the Dursley's more and more.
"That would make my day if I could see that," Melissa said, snickering.
During their Defense Against the Dark Arts class Professor Potter had them handling Boggarts. Hermione wasn't sure if this was a good idea but she didn't say anything. Even Melissa didn't know if this was a good idea.
"It's good to know what you're afraid of," she said to them. "Don't worry; I won't let anything bad happen to you."
Melissa's fear turned out to be her father. Vernon Boggart screamed at her, calling her a freak. Thankfully it didn't mention the word 'werewolf' or that would have been a problem. She managed to point her wand and say, "Riddikulus" and it turned into a skinny man, which made Melissa laugh. She turned and hurried out of the classroom. Hermione's biggest fear turned out to be Harry. Harry with a knife and calling her a mudblood. Hermione screamed and bolted out of the room.

"Well what do you expect," Severus told Lily when she told him what had happened. "Deep inside she's terrified of Harry. Look at what he did to her."
"I know that," she said. "I just didn't think it would be a very strong fear. Though I had no idea that she even had this fear."
"It might have been due to what he had done," Severus said. "Look, Lily, you're going to have to keep a watch on Harry this summer. I've got a bad feeling that Slytherin is changing him."
"What do you mean?"
"He's hanging out with Death Eater's children and spouting their Pureblood beliefs," he said. "I can only do so much but the only thing that can be done is to have him go to Durmstrang if this continues."
Lily nodded and said, "I don't want him to go. What if he attacks other students?"
"Then watch him during the summer," Severus suggested. "I will be by several times a week to make sure that he's in-line."
"Thanks," Lily said and then she left his office.
He really hoped that going to Durmstrang wasn't in Potter's future. He would turn out worst than ever.

The match between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff started. Hermione was worried that another jinx would happen and thankfully she saw Severus and the others. Severus was taking over for Madam Hooch in making sure that everyone played by the rules. The sound of Lee Jordan, a Weasley friend, could be heard. However all Hermione did was focus on the Bludger, keeping them away from her team and towards the Hufflepuff's.
Suddenly one of them came at her and before she could hit it, it hit her. She felt herself leaving her broom and falling to the ground. She woke up in the wing with news that Ravenclaw had lost. Slytherin would be playing against Hufflepuff at the end of term.
"It's not the end of the world," Melissa said. "At least we don't have to practice anymore."
"Yeah, I know," Hermione said. "But I feel that I let Ravenclaw down."
"I don't think that you did," Melissa said, grinning at her.
"Thanks," Hermione said, grinning back.
The Ravenclaw's were upset that they had lost, knowing that this would enable Slytherin to get the cup for the eighth time in a row. Harry thought the whole thing was funny and something about how he acted made Hermione worry. Did he have a hand in Ravenclaw losing? There was only one way to find out. Of course she would have to wait until after they had recovered from the transformation before putting her theory to the test. The following Wednesday night Melissa and she went to the empty Charms classroom to change. Madam Pomfrey took their robes and said that she would be back in the morning.
"Thanks," Hermione said and the door was closed behind her.
The moon shifted and Hermione and Melissa both screamed as the change took place. Fur grew all over their bodies, their bone broke and lengthened, their heads changed, and their human side left them as the wolf took over. Hermione yawned with the change ended and they both curled up, to sleep off the night.

A/N: Hermione will find out if the Bludger was sent to her on purpose so that Ravenclaw would lose. Hope that you enjoyed the chapter.
